Is it possible???? (One for the ladies)

Hi Guys,

Since giving birth to my son almost 6 years ago, my monthly's have been so irregular. Sometimes nothing would happen for a year!!!!

However, I had TOM a week into induction, that was 5 weeks ago and this morning it's come again!!!!

Is this just a coincidence or can this WOE actually do that?

Also, i've just began a new relationship and am thinking of taking Birth Control pills. Will this stall my weight loss?

Thanks for your input in advance, I know i'm in the right place for expert advice.

Sure, it's possible. A lot of people have reported that once they start this WOE, it somehow helps to regulate their TOM, etc. I know a lot of women have managed to get pregnant (not that you want that, just FYI) on this WOE after years of trying other things.

There are birth control pill options that don't have weight gain issues -- talk with your OB about what will work for you!

Yep it can and does happen for many.............hence the number of "Atkin's Babies".

BCP cause many women to stall and/or even gain. Any hormonal can do that. I react horribly to all of them.

You could consider a copper IUD! The copper one is non hormonal... quick to get... lasts 10 years and can be taken out fast and you can get pg right away after removing it. A nice option for those looking to avoid hormones.

about that copper I.U.D I will give you a warning from my experience I have a period every two weeks three days and it is VERY heavy and extremely crampy it feels like labor contractions I have had mine in for almost 4 months and because its the most effective method aside from abstinence and no weight issues I am willing to deal with it but it does truly suck!

I had an IUD and had horribly heavy and long flows every month, not to mention the excruciating pain of having the thing inserted. Good thing my blood pressure dropped and I passed out or I would have been ripping the walls down in the place. I know plenty of women who had them inserted with little or no pain so maybe mine was a weird case.

I've been on the pill forever (seems like that anyway) and don't really think it affects my loss, but this is definitely a YMMV thing. It may help to get on one of the "low dose" options which have fewer hormones.

I've found that low carbing has affected a lot of things about me including my mood, energy levels, etc. I'm on low dose BCPs (Estrostep FE) and am still steadily losing weight. BCPs don't directly cause you to gain weight; eating more/consuming excess calories causes the weight gain. Now, the BCPs or other hormonal BC may cause mood changes and cravings, but so does stress, LOL. I put up with frequent queasiness and mood swings with mine because I'm very sensitive to the estrogen, but it's totally worth it not to worry about pregnancy yet. (maybe some day, I hope!)

Low carbing has helped curb temptations and cravings for me, and I'm progressing nicely. I suppose you'll have to weigh the benefits/risks on them. Although, I will also say that my periods are very short and very regular on BCPs. That's a definite plus.
