Perimenopause...Help!

I am a healthy 36 yo female and I am now exhibiting symptoms of perimenopause. I feel really old. Why do men get better and women just get older? OK, maybe that's not true, but it feels true today....

What should I be doing to help myself during this time? We have a family h/o early menopause. Any advice/input appreciated....

Lisa

Get yourself tested - blood test - can determine if you are hitting that pre-menopause stage. I took one because I exhibited all these strange symptoms and yes, was told that I was in the beginning stages (I'm 42). I don't feel old...just hate these hot spells I get...usually during night...which right now along with my TOM being early every month lately....are the only symptoms I have. Sorry you are feeling this way.

Ohhh, yucky! I have heard several different remedies, and naturally, your Dr is the best one to ask. Sam-E (Which is cheaper at Netrition than anywhere I've found, including military commissary!) evening primrose oil (I take 3x 500mg a day).

I Just googled it a few months ago, when I thought I was showing symptoms, yup, sure looks that way. And did a lot of reading. At least you spelled it right!! I didn't, and it took me a while to figure that out!!

(I'm 38 btw) Its not easy, but you're only as old as you feel..... of course, WHO you feel has a lot to do with it!

It's funny you posted this...I'm 40 and was just thinking I need to get into shape pretty quick. If we don't our bodies look like they're falling apart by 50. Thanks for reminding me.

Hi. I'll be 52 this month and started taking bioidentical hormones last November. My gynecologist gave orders for a blood test and the results showed that I am perimenopausal. I knew that anyway and had been experiencing symptoms for a few years. The blood test enabled my gyn to prescribe the right amount of estrogen and progesterone for me. I feel so much better and I actually sleep at night, too! The hormones that I take mimic the ones our own body makes and are made out of plants. No pregnant mare's urine here!

Hope this helps...
