Yasmin BC....anyone using it???
I just started this stuff...just wondering how everyone likes or dislikes it. I just started taking the pills a few days ago so I don't really have any idea just yet.
Also I started taking them on the first day of my period and I dont' know if it is cause I went of BC for one month before starting this or if it was the First day start, but my period has been weird....kind of spotty for a couple of days, then seemed to be following usual pattern, and then stop for a day, and now I am back to seeming like a normal thing. Very strange indeed..... TIA

I just started taking Yasmin too and would like to know more about it. I started on Sunday, so I don't know yet if I like it either! I remember reading in the pamphlet about breakthrough bleeding.
I was also wondering about the diuretic that's in it. Is the diuretic in the spacer pills too? |

I am hoping that the diuretic is in all of them...cause I will take all the help I can get with bloat!!! so you did the Sunday start I am guessing? I started on the first day of my period...I plan on giving it a few months to see if I like it. Hope you have good results too. Wish I had the answers for ya..... ![]() |

Hey - I just started on yasmin sunday too. I was planning to do a first day start, but TOM started on sunday, so I guess I'm a day one and a sunday start. Anyway, my period has been wacky - really light since sunday. I've had breakthrough bleeding with every pill I've been on in the last 5 years. I'm praying that yasmin will be different. From what I've heard, it helps with weight loss, or at least doesn't cause gain (which is why I went off my other pills last year). My DH is so excited I'm back on the pill - I've gotta try it for at least 6 months before I give up on it!

don't anybody freak b/c i'm not saying the Yasmin caused it (i think any BC pill would have contributed) but i had a pulmonary embolism last year after taking Yasmin for two months.
so now, i can't take any hormone at all. it does plainly say on the package that BC pills can cause blood clots but no one ever really thinks it will happen to them. other than that, while i was on it i was ok. i used it to help regulate my cycles and it worked great. i wasn't trying to lose weight at the time so i don't know if it would have hindered that. |

Amy-
I belive you are at risk with any pill you take, not just Yasmin. Pulmonary embolism is a very rare side effect from the pill. Sorry you were in that rare group. There are other risk factors that can contribute to that, not jus the pill. Mrssillymom3- Yeah, I did the Sunday start. We'll see how it goes. The one downside so far, they are double the price of my other bc pills. Good thing I have insurance! There isn't a generic, just the Yasmin brand. We'll have to come back and update eachother since a few of us started on them at the same time!

I started yasmin over a month ago, on the first day of my period. After a day or so, my period seemed to stop, then started again and I bled for the next MONTH either light to medium flow.. definitely more than spotting most of the time. So, what I did was stopped the pill, let my body have the period(was unusually heavy) and right after the period, I started back on the pill. It's been about a week and no spotting at all. I am taking it for medical reasons (acne, bad pms, etc) not for birth control, and my doctor said it was ok for me to take it back to back for 3 months and not have as many periods. So, I am really afraid of what will happen when my period wants to start, If I will start bleeding anyway, because it seems like the pill is almost TOO low dose in hormones for me. If I would take it even a half hour later than normal, I would start bleeding. I go back to the doctor next week, so we'll see if she thinks I should switch to a higher dose pill.
It does seem to help with acne and doesn't seem to hinder weight loss. -Karen |
