Hey, everybody! I'm back from vacation.

Congratulations to Starfire, SmileyAmy & Melos!!! We had an exciting time around here last week, eh?

I had my 2nd baby shower yesterday. It was very nice, much smaller than the first one. It was fun, but very hot.

Hey, Jackie & Tammara.

Our vacation was great. We rented a little cabin on the ocean (sort of) on Orcas Island, which is in the San Juan Islands. We were married on Orcas 2 years ago. So, we celebrated our 2nd anniversary there. We were there for a week. DH read a book practically every day. I read pregnancy & parenting books, puttered around, cooked & enjoyed not being so hot (it was cooler there). We also went out for dinner a few times, went sailing one day. I drove the cart for DH while he golfed one day. Golfing really isn't an option when you're 34 weeks pregnant, tummy was in the way. It was a fabulously relaxing trip.

The shower was nice, only 7 people. It was my "work" shower. I had around 20 people at my first shower, kind of overwhelming. I have gotten mostly adorable baby boy clothes, which is great because I have only bought one outfit myself so far. Yesterday, I got my play gym, a Moses basket, some great toys, baby books, etc. We are registered at BRU.

Hello ladies,

wanted to let everyone know I am still around and everything is going well. I had my second ultrasound last Thursday and the baby measured perfect. Now that things are looking positive with this pregnancy i'm starting to freak out a bit. The idea of being a parent is really nerve wrecking. On top of all this me and DH will be having a wedding ceremony (in the church) and wedding reception in 3 weeks. Stress, stress stress. Has anybody else had really bizarre dreams during their pregnancy? Everynight it is either nightmares or strange dreams.

LGS- I have definitely started the weirdo preggo dreams. I've dreamt that the baby was here and sleeping in the co-sleeper next to the bed & needed changed - but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get the diaper off. Last night I dreamt that all my teeth were loose and starting to fall out. And I've also had some exceedingly embarassing dreams that I'm choosing not to share on a public forum

Hello ladies! I have been MIA for a few days, but I did read up on the threads.


Congrats to Anastasia, Melos, and Amy!!

Grace--Your vacation sounds wonderful. We are going back to Las Vegas for our five year anniversay in October (we got married there!). Glad your shower went well.


LGS--Glad to hear the baby is doing well! I don't know anything about dreams. I usually dream about work . I can't wait to get away from this place.


I called in sick on Friday because we were going out of town over the weekend and I just had too much darn stuff to do! DH's little brother is off to college next week, so there was a party for him on Friday night. We had a great time.

I had my 16 week appointment today. Everything is fine. The baby kept kicking the doppler and I don't know if the doctor ever got a good heartbeat measurement. I assume she did. She said we have a very active one on our hands! I couldn't feel the movements but we could both hear them. The baby is kicking up a storm right now. It is getting stronger every day. My weight has leveled off, so no lecture!

I am going go be away from my desk most of this week, so I probably won't get a chance to check in until Friday.

The funny thing is, I can feel the baby at times. Any time I put my hand on my stomach to feel it from the outside, the baby quits moving . I really can't wait to feel it from the outside, so that DH can feel it too. Have you felt movement from the outside yet?

No, not from the outside yet, but I have more "padding" than you!

DS can't wait to feel the baby. He tries to listen to the baby by putting his ear to my stomach. This weekend he was doing that just after I had breakfast(read-food settling). He just started to laugh hysterically and said: "My baby brother cut cheese!" At 3 years old he is infatuated with bodily functions and is also convinced I am having a boy!

Hey, LGS. It is good to see you! I can relate to the stress level thing. We are in the process of a remodel on our house, trying to get it finished before the baby arrives, not to mention getting ready for the baby. I have to manage the whole thing because DH works a job with regular hours. I had a lot of crazy dreams in my first trimester. Twice I dreamt that one of my dogs was driving my car. It was hysterical.

Lou, your Vegas trip sounds like fun. Where will you stay? I would love to stay at the Venetian or the Bellagio. (have never stayed at either)

We are staying at the Bellagio. We couldn't even afford to stay on the strip last time. We stayed at the Orleans which was really cool. Plus there was a free shuttle to the strip. When I saw the Bellagio, I told DH that some day we'd come back and stay there. It is expensive, but not awful.

i'm thinking of picking up some pregnancy books this week. any recommendations?

LGS -I've been really happy with Dr. Sears' Pregnancy Book. Some things I like about Your Pregnancy Week by Week - a lot I didn't. Hated What to Expect When You're Expecting - made me worry even more. Eating Expectantly helped a lot nutrition-wise. I checked out about every book the library had on pregnancy/childbirth/child-rearing, then bought the ones I found helpful. I've got a lot of books on natural childbirth I've really enjoyed but not sure if you're interested in that.

My favorite pregnancy book is "Your Pregnancy Week-by-Week" by Glade B. Curtis. I also liked "The Pregnancy Journal" by A. Christine Harris because it gives you an update on what is going on with your baby every day and gives you a place to write about what is going on with you & the pregnancy.

I rented a doppler too and had a good experience with it. It definitely made me feel better to know that the baby's heartbeat was regular, before I could feel it move every day.

Jackie, there will be around 40 people at my shower. I was going crazy with the registry trying to figure out what I really need. My mom, family members, and friends have all given me recommendations on what to register for, but it's still very stressful!

Grace, my husband and I have also been going nuts trying to get the nursery done and rearrange everything in the house to accommodate our baby. It's so much work, but it's almost finished!!

LSG, I also got married while I was pregnant - 5 1/2 months!! We had the wedding planned for a long time, but not the baby!!

Louise, I absolutely love feeling my baby move!! It's the only good thing about being pregnant, in my opinion! Actually, there is another positive: strangers treat me so much nicer now!! I joke with my husband that after our baby is born, I'm going to buy one of those fake pregnancy bellies to wear around so I can continue getting treated like a pregnant woman! I have 4 pregnancy books, - The Pregnancy Bible is probably the best. It gives pictures of how you'll look every few weeks, pictures of what the baby looks like and how s/he develops each week, and information on every single aspect of pregnancy. I also have the KISS Guide to Pregnancy, The Everything Pregnancy Book, and The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy, which is a humorous look at pregnancy.~~ Have fun in Vegas!! I was there in June. It's one of my favorite places.
