Very possible that you have started the process. I'm through it now and love this lifestyle but I can remember the first time that my period wasn't regular. Check with your Dr. for some more information. BTW - I was 52 when that happened. It took me years to get out of that 30 days thought process but it's gone now. What a difference. I've had friends do marathons with me while on their TOM. Awful!!!

I agree that it's probably pre-meno symptoms, but you should definitely see your doctor, just in case you're PG. It's rare but does happen after tubes are tied. I started having irregular periods at around age 40, and now at 45 I am post-menopausal.

Yeah, I think it's pretty normal to skip em here and there when you get older.

"no PG symptoms" doesn't mean diddley. Take a test. However, menses will stop with a very low calorie diet; estrogen is somehow related to fat?? I'm not a doctor, but don't play around. Developing life needs nutrition not found in M/E fast.

Anyone want to share stories of children born after tubes tied?

I'm 48 and started this WOL at 46 ( few months short of 47). My TOM was irregular during this whole journey. It would be late by 406 weeks sometimes, then would get it every two weeks at times. Up until this past February 2005 it was back to being regular, now it is every 3 months with some spotting here and there. Just had a check up and in per-menopause. So it could be the diet etc or the early stages of menopause. Any hotflashes?

My periods had always been regular as clockwork from the first one at 14. Only time I missed it was when I was pregnant w/son and daughter. Just a couple months after I turned 39 I missed a period and related it to stress, I was going through the legalities of ending my 20 yr marriage. After 2 months w/no period I visited my Dr extremely stressed and fearful of being pregnant - how I had no idea hubby had a vasectomy yrs before. I was not pregnant and a few days after my Dr visit I got my period. Following that time I only got it every 2 months.

Now at age 42 I get my period every 4 months. (you would think I am taking that new seasonal pill huh?) I have been seeing my OB Dr. the past couple months frequently as during this time it is still possible to become pregnant and I DO NOT want to be.

In the next month or so I will be having a procedure done called Essure for permanent birth control. My Dr. also suggested I have Endometrial Ablation done since when I do get my periods they are extremely heavy and my schedule is so random. (the ablation should stop any future bleeding)

Well I am glad I did a search on "missed periods". Now I know I am not alone. I was supposed to be visited by "TOM" on Thursday. I have been totally freaking out since then. No visit. I had all the symptoms I usually get, but no actuall period.

DH is "fixed" and I haven't been with anyone else, so unless there is another immaculate conception, I'm not pregnant. But it was kind of freaking me out because I have never missed a period except for when I've been pregnant.

I am 39, will be 40 in February and I was thinking I was too young for this...but maybe not.

I watched "GI Jane" last night and the doctor had told her she missed her period because her body fat was lowered. I have lost almost 30 pounds since June, so I am thinking maybe it could be attributed to that.

Any thoughts??

I am 46 and have not had one in 2 months. I had my tubes tied 14 years ago. I have been to the doctor. They want to start me on BC pills to get it regulated. Being 46 with my tied tubes, I'm not going to take BC pills. I have only seen this doctor once. I am going to make an appointment with another doctor. I have started having hot flashes. No preg symtoms. And by the way, the only time I was late was 16 and 14 years ago. Both girls!!!!

Just a comment.... I am 52 and regular as clockwork...... started really low carbing on Memorial Day and SKIPPED NOT ONE, BUT TWO MONTHS. Seen nothing in June and nothing in July..... finally came around in Aug. Doc says that test do not show menopause yet..... so..... I must have just shocked the HE$$ out of my body.

Just wanted to add that estrogen is stored in the fat cells soooo if your losing weight as with l/c this may increase the level of estrogen in the bloodstream which will cause irregular menstrual cycles and can increase pms symptoms. Also rapid weight loss along with higher estrogen levels can increase fertility. When I was on Atkins 2 years ago I had all kinds of problems. This time around things seem to be ok so far.

well i had started missing periods last year..here and there...<i am 51> then this year didnt have but 4 the whole year...started LC 2 months ago..and this month OMG...I had cramps for 5 days, passing blood clots and like the TOM I had as a 20year old...guess LC does shock the body in a hormonal way.

but seems normal for us older gals.

Yes, my periods just stopped suddenly. I'm 34 and have gone through complete menopause. So it can happen. I've been on HRT for a year now.
