Natural Progesterone Creme
Anyone else trying this? I've been hunting (no longer in vain I pray!) for some answers to underlying annoying problems with TOM/mood/variety of symptoms that my doctors keep assuring me are "in my head" well they are not.
I found the book "What your doctor may NOT tell you about premenapause" by Dr. John R. Lee and the majority of symptoms they have listed for estrogen dominate women I've HAD since I started menses at age 12 I've been on the pill (5+ years) as well as depo provera (ditto 5+ years) both which they say only increases the wackiness.I started using the natural progesterone cream on day 12 & using it twice daily as recommended. My question is - anyone else using this stuff? notice a difference? not only in mood & TOM but weight loss? I'd be very interested to know. ![]()

I've read the John Lee book. My best friend uses the cream all the time and swears by it. I used to forget to put it on so I didn't and don't use it now.

I recently read his book on breast cancer--almost had me talked out of my treatments.
His thoughts on the prog. cream were interesting though--I may try it too. |

He discusses wild yam & apparently there is alot of confusion over it - to the point where some companies are CALLING it wild yam extract (because that was common way back when) even when it's not. ![]() |

I read Dr. Lee's book and also read Suzanne Somers' book, "The Sexy Years." I had seen her on Larry King.
That said, I made an appointment with my gyn. I had bloodwork done because we already knew that I was perimenopausal but we needed to determine what my various levels were as regards progesterone and estrogen as well as thyroid. I now take bioidentical hormones -- NOT synthetic -- but bioidentical. I feel so much better, I can't even tell you. But--my doctor told me that she doesn't agree with Dr. Lee and as I read and continue to read different posts on different boards, I notice that it's not always a good thing to take progesterone by itself, an that was my doctor's opinion. So...if you're having mood swings, itchiness, witchiness, sleepiness as in can't sleep thru the night anymore, crying, etc., etc., you know, all of that PMS stuff...please, just go get a check-up and get your bloodwork done. That's the best way to do it, I think. Hope this helps... Oh, and there's a poster on here named Pam -- she KNOWS her stuff! Let me try to think of her name and I'll post it back here in a min...

I've read Dr Lee's book also and have contemplated trying progesterone cream. I'm curious, is the cream you found on Amazon one of the recommended companies mentioned in his book?

Update so far!
TOM Friday July 22-27, started progesterone creme on day #10 (July 31st) 2x a day full pump each time.
Stopped August 18th (bottle empty!) TOM started the very next day, the 19th - 24th. Noticed results: Ovulation was ONE day (not two weeks of bloating, tenderness, sore breasts, pain in belly, sensation of "fullness", painful intercourse) And that one day was a tender belly, which was gone the next day. TOM after the creme has TWO days of cramping (light) instead of 4 very painful ones. Moderate flow w/very little clots - VERY unusual for me after having Tubal, it's usually very bad. I noticed yesterday that the several chin hairs I usually have to pluck out every week are gone - there is one stubborn one there - I usually have at least 6 very hard & dark hairs that grow there on my chin/neck. Mood swings - much improved. Energy - MUCH improved. Weight loss - probably none, haven't stepped on the scale. Cinnabar gives it I'm going to continue to use the creme the same way, 2x full pump (empty bottle) in a month cycle. I'll post again next month on this thread. PS. I've also been taking Primrose Oil for the last few months. The first month I took it twice a day every day, the next month once a day every day - this past month I took it every other day when ovulation occured until TOM was gone. I do think this suppliment is helping alot with pain as well since I noticed a drastic decrease BEFORE starting the Progesteone creme - so you may wanna check it out if you have the same painful TOM issues. Any updates on the progesterone saga....how is it doing for all... Thinking of starting to use it...bought it and never did.
Bottom line....breast stay tender...sign of estrogen dominance.... dryness issue........sign of not enough estrogen...gave me vagifem (estodial) and breast got even more sore and puffy.... Had a scary mamogram & ultrasound experience...... to the h$ll with the vagifem. Vicki |

Select a cream with 500 mg to 1000 mg of progesterone per ounce. Most of them only have 20 mlg per ounce and that is not enough. You want to see this as one of the first ingredients...( Progestrone USP) Pharmacuitical grade.
The USP label on progesterone cream also means that the cream contains a natural progesterone that the human body can assimilate. This is not the case with all "progesterone" creams - especially creams made from wild yam extract. Wild Yam cream IS NOT USP progesterone cream. Follow the directions and if you are estrogen dominant follow a low carb food plan...........

Just wanted to add that I have used prog cream off and on, and I think when it is causing breast tenderness that may be a sign to lower the dose. I used it for BAD ovulation pain, and it worked well. But I don't use it every month because I don't have the pain every month. In fact, I have gone quite a few months without the pain recently. Then, last week I started hurting pretty badly, and feeling like I was gonna start (it was time) but didn't for days and days (I believe because I started back on very low carb and upset my hormones). So I put a tiny dab of cream on for two days, then TOM came.
So, go by your symptoms and don't think you have to use it all the time for it to work. I think even Dr. Lee says this. (His theories ARE controversial, though.) |

My dr just started me on Progesterone cream due to low progesterone levels following the hysterectomy I had on 2/28/06. I am also taking Premarin and just started dhea. Are there any side effects from using the cream? Where do you put it on your body?
