Happy Monday Ladies,

Hope everyone had a great weekend. We had to check on our cattle which are on summer pasture. They are accessable only by foot and horseback. We rode in and camped overnight. It is really nice to get so far away from everything (cars, telephones, TV, etc). Also, I had my appointment on Friday. All is well. No weight gain!

SmileyAmy-Congrats on leaving work early. Enjoy your mom.

Melos-Glad to hear things are going well.

Kaillean-Beautiful sweater and soaker. When do you start your vacation?

Starfire-How was your competition?

Louise-Hope you enjoyed your shopping trip!

Dal-Sounds like you have a fun weekend!

Sorry if I forgot anyone, my mind is wandering today.

Hey everyone, hope you all had a good weekend!

Jackie, that sounds like fun. Congrats on no weight gain!

I can't believe it's August already. Wow. Sometimes I feel ready for the baby, other times I am so panicked. I have to call the doc's office today to find out the lab results from my tests last week. Basically, they did a comparison to the ones done at the beginning of the preg. If they're similar, then we'll probably make it into September. If they're different, I may have this baby sooner than later. Kinda scary!

Have a good one,

Jenn

Good morning! Slow thread today where is everyone???

Melos--Are you still out there? I just noticed that today is your due date.

Jackie--Your camp out sounds wonderful. Congrats on not gaining!!

Jenn-I hope your lab tests came back okay!

lowcarbinmama--I totally know how you feel. I didn't think the first trimester would ever end!

This week, I am trying to eat better. We'll see how it goes. I looked up some LC recipies before I went grocery shopping yesterday. I figure as long as I am eating some fruit and drinking milk a couple times a day, my carbs should be high enough. Last night I cooked LC chicken cordon blue. It was yummy. DH really liked it. I brought the leftovers for lunch. Tonight we are having LC stuffed green peppers. We are also having LC meatloaf, and a LC taco salad this week. So breakfasts and dinners will be fine. Now I just need to stay away from Wendy's at lunch time (it is about a mile from where we work).

Have a great day!

Oh, and AMY, I hope you are resting up!

Louise

Jenn-Hope your results are good. Your little girl needs to cook for a while! I also can't believe it is August. My DS starts pre-school in 22 days!

Stacy-It is hard at first when you don't feel pregnant.

Louise-Sounds like you have your menu in order. I am not doing well eating LC right now. Congrats on finding a doctor that you are more comfortable with.

At my appointment my doctor said we have to decide if I want the AFP test done. I am really going back and forth on this issue. Guess I need to make up my mind soon.

I want to limit testing as much as possible. On the one hand, if something is wrong, I would like to know, but on the other hand, the idea of a false positive scares the heck out of me. The doctor I went to last time told me that it was my decision, but I really felt that she was pushing me to have the testing . Another reason that I decided to leave her. If I thought I had risk factors, I would consider more tests, but I am young and healthy and no one in either family has any (major) genetic problems.

I am waiting for DH to get back from his lunch so he can take me to get my car. I am starting to think he's forgotten me.

Jackie, the AFP is a blood test right? It depends on your philosophy. As my ob put it, "You get what you pay for". A blood test will have a tendency to not be as accurate, but the expense is just a blood donation - little risk involved. An amnio will be alot more accurate, but the expense is the test which holds higher risk of m/c as we all know.

So, it depends. I opted for NO tests based on the fact that I am not in the "high risk category", but I also knew that I would never do the amnio and would never abort. So, why stress myself out over it? That's how I made my decision.

Jackie, I did have the blood test done, because I'm 35. I think I would have done it regardless of my age, because I'm the type that would want to know, you know? My risk factor came back negative, so there was no need for further testing. IF something had shown up, we would have done an ultrasound next, and if there continued to be a likelihood of a problem, then the amnio would have been the last resort.

First thing to ask is if they're using the new "quad-screen" testing. It has a *much* lower rate of false-positives. I agree, there's no sense being upset needlessly if the test is wrong!

Good luck whatever you decide... it will be what's right for you!

Louise, I just noticed your "Stats" !!!

Thanks Ladies,

Yes, Dar it is only a (very inaccurate) blood test. The only benefit I see to having it done is to be prepared if something is abnormal. I would not abort. Honestly, I believe I will not have the test done. With DS I was not given a choice. It was: Here, go get this lab work done.

Louise-Hope everything is OK with your car. There is nothing worse than car problems.

It really is quite around here lately. Where is everyone?

Sorry Jenn, we were posting at the same time!

He didn't mention anything about a new "quad" screen. He did say that there is a high occurance of false positives so this leads me to believe the lab is still using the old test.

Morning everyone! I am finally awake! I didn't have to work today, and yesterday I was having an allergy attack, so I slept in. Coffee's almost done (I have one cup a day), and then off to shower.

Jenn- it'll turn out for the best. Usually does. Hugs for you!!!

Stacy- are you still getting MS? How's your little one doing?

Jackie- I've never opted for any testing. I don't even take the glucose tolerance tests. Its just not my thing. I figured that if the babies were special or something, I wouldn't terminate. Okay, so why stress myself and everyone else out over nothing? I'll find out for sure when they're born. Good luck with your decision.

Louise- I have having car problems. I hope your DH doesn't forget!

Okay mommies, I need your help. I think I need a larger vehicle!!! I just now realized that there's no way I'll be able to put three baby seats and Liam's booster in the car I have now - - but I hate Minivans. Any Ideas?

No morning sickness here, I never had it with Cass either. *crosses fingers*

I'm thankful I have her to keep me busy so I'm not obsessing about this pregnancy. (yet) LOL.

What about a suburban or a big suv, like a tahoe? You're going to have to go big and you'll probably need something with 3rd row seating.

Anastasia-Are you looking for new or used? I have a friend that just bought a new Ford Freestyle. They market them "as everything you like about a car and everything you need from an SUV". Hers has a third row seat. Good luck car shopping!

Stacy-I didn't have MS with DS but was very nausous this time.

Mandy-Spencer's stats in your sigi look great!

Anastasia, there was an article in DH's latest motor trend about station wagons. It said that, compared to the suv's, station wagons have more cargo space and better gas mileage. The Volvo was rated highest and I think the Chrysler (Dodge?) Magnum was second.

However, they don't have the 3rd row seating that you might need.

I don't have a problem with used vehicles. Third row seating would be good, I think. My big thing is going to be having something that's user friendly.

Anatasia- I have a chevy tahoe Z71. It has a third row but then doesn't have a lot of room behind that. If I had my choice I would get a suburban. They are really nice and have TONS of room for people and cargo. With the tahoe you would have 2 kids in the "middle" (no bench there) and 2 kids in the back (bench seat that splits in the middle) You would have to climb all of the way in the back to buckle them every time.

A Chevy Uplander has a third row but it wouldn't be easily acessible if you had carseats attached to the seats already. It has a middle console between the middle row seats and you would have to fold down the seats to get to the back. Same thing with the Chevy Pacifica (had one...don't get it....IMPOSSIBLE to access)

I'm thinking a mini van might just be what you need. They make some nicer looking ones now...not so mini-van ish

Good luck!

Hi girls,

Just catching up quickly. I haven't read the weekend thread yet, so forgive me if I've missed some news.

We went up to the inlaws this weekend. They were disappointed we did not stay another day (it's a long weekend here) but I had to work today. I'm in the home stretch for doing all my work. We leave for holidays this weekend!

In the meantime, I have to design and finish content for 4 25-page relocation guides for wives whose husbands are relocating abroad. It's going to be tight and I see some late nights in my future. I'm not looking forward to it as my legs are starting to swell if I spend too much timing sitting at the computer. After a long night, my ankles are swollen and there's a purplish tone on one spot. Veins I guess. Is this supposed to happen so soon? I try to get up and move around every once in a while, and I'm okay for an average day, but can't do the long hours.

Louise, I am also trying to be better this week. Last week was not very LC for me at all. And I'm starting to feel sluggish and blue. I ate a bag of chips on the drive up to the inlaws and then had ice cream later in the day. Sunday we went out for Chinese. But I'm back on the wagon today. I really don't want to have to lose a ton when the baby comes.

Jackie, I finally decided to have the triple screen done. I know there's a high rate of positives, but I decided to risk the stress because it's low intervention and if negative, would give me a little extra reassurance. I made sure with my doc that if I did get a positive, they would follow up with a level 2 ultrasound to look for any markers, before I agreed to amnio. Fortunately, my triple screen came back negative. And my ultrasound looked good too, so I'm not having amnio at all (even though I'm an old lady ) The quad screen wasn't available yet here.

I second the recommendation for a Suburban. My SIL has four kids and two dogs and that's what they have. They bought it newish used. It's also propane, which makes it cheaper to run. They really like it and it seems to have a ton of room.

Hi to everyone else. Enjoy your first day off, Amy!

BBL

LOL...I WISH I had some bon bons in the house...and I DID watch Oprah today.

I am here...although, I probably will be on even less than I thought. My computer crashed this weekend. Just went crazy. Luckily my mother has her PC here so I will be able to pop on at least once a day really quickly. She is working from my place, so she is on all day. I won't be able to pop on until the evening/night.

Hope I didn't miss anything from this weekend...I am kinda rushed right now. Dinner is done and then me and my mother have to go food shopping.

I am kinda nervous. I had the whole "how long are you staying with me" talk with DM and she said until September. I just about fainted. She asked why and I mentioned that I thought that at some point - after a couple of weeks, I probably wanted to be mostly on my own. That it is stressful enough having a new baby and my brother living with us - but to add another person into the mix might be overwhelming. I think she was hurt...she kept telling me that she wasn't going to be doing everything for me the whole time and she would go work in the office (even though she lives in Canada, her employer is in Massachusetts, so she has the option of working from my house or the office when she is visiting). I felt kinda bad...so we will have to see how it goes.

Anyway...sorry to not have done any personals. I hope all is well with everyone. Maybe tomorrow night I will have more time.

Talk to you all later!!

Just a quick drive by post.

I think I felt the baby! I am pretty sure! It seems early I know, but the feeling was down in the right place, and wasn't anything I've ever felt before.

Louise - that is so exciting about feeling the baby!!

Jackie - sounds like you had a wonderfulm weekend. I was sure wishing I was in the country when the nine millionth siren was wailing down the street in front of my house.

Anastasia - I second the Suburban, we had one when I was in HS. My little brother played ice hockey and I would ferry him and his buds and their HUGE amount of equipment in it with room to spare. It was a little tricky to navigate at first - I am the queen of small cars, I love my Karmann Ghia and it doesn't get much smaller than that! But even I felt pretty comfortable driving/parking it after a few weeks.

Good luck and God bless to everyone who is staying on plan. All I want to eat is granola bars and kettle corn.

Well, I left the house for the first time in over a week today! Took big bro Burke to visit little bro General Tso (my dogs) who's staying with my nana til the m/s passes. They were very excited to get in some playtime and I was very excited to come home for my afternoon nap.
