Hypothyroid questions!
I’m so happy to find this forum with other people who are going through the same thing (I’m fairly new to this) and can hopefully give me some advice based personal experiences. I am a 25 year old female who was diagnosed with Hypo/Hashi’s two years ago. Started on a low dose of Synthroid. Was on birth control at the time. After a year my doc took me off birth control saying it was causing estrogen dominance. She started me on progesterone (compounded from the pharmacy/bio-identicals) I am currently on Synthroid (.150 mcg), T3 (also compounded by the pharmacy), Progesterone (2 pills daily for days 14-28 in cycle), a multivitamin (Optivite PMT), fish oil capsule (1 daily), CLA capsules (3 daily). My weight has been a constant roller coaster. At the beginning of my diagnosis I was at 230. Slowly I went down to 162 last summer, now a year later I am back to 200. I am on a higher dose of Synthroid now than when I started, other than that nothing has changed, but yet my weight keeps climbing! I exercise at least 30 minutes or more a day. As far as diet goes, I eat fairly healthy, I was eating soy products (because I don’t like meat) but only a soyburger a day or so. I’m not sure if that amount of soy is enough to throw things off. I drink green tea everyday and occasionally put flaxseed in my yogurt (only like once a week). My main concerns are my weight and my skin. Before I was diagnosed I had completely clear skin. Last year I had an awful case of acne (mostly in the chin area). I’ve started getting lactic acid peels which have helped a little, but I still have a persistent acne problem and since starting medication my pores are as big as pot holes! I also noticed that I now have to have my upper lip waxed (never had to before) and notice chin hair and overall more body hair than before. I have horrible insomnia and no energy during the day (I get winded walking up the stairs, and exercise is painful). My thyroid levels are “normal” according to my blood tests..I think my tsh is around 1. I’m a little confused as to why I need progesterone after being off of the pill for two years now and if it is doing more harm than good. My cycles are not regular (I’ve had two periods in the past six months, although I do get cramping and bloating at least once a month, like a period should happen, but doesn’t). Does anyone have any suggestions or can give me some advice concerning weight, acne, hair, and progesterone?
THANKS! |

I don't know anything about hypothyroid but you sure seem to have a lot of PCOS symptoms. Have you been tested for it?
