Good morning! Arghh... 7:00 and here I am.
I SHOULD be in bed.. but oh well. I agree with Hollly, a little time before the monsters wake up is a good thing! SO.... I got my Harry Potter book yesterday and am on page 89! I was totally surprised, as they said it would be here next week. Guess they cushion their delivery dates! It's looking good so far... a lot less redundancy in the beginning like the others (going over the entire history) ... don'tcha think?Cyn... How are ya doing today? |

Morning Mommies,
Hi Cyn, isn’t it Thursday? *grin* Dawn, Logan will be 3 months on Saturday! Way too young for a real “wuv woo” !! Heather, I’m going through the same thing. I have been massively *****y, even thinking (irrationally) I made a huge mistake marrying my hubby. My period finally showed up 12 weeks and a few days after birth. I’ve been bleeding now since Monday…we haven’t had sex since thanksgiving…I’m out of commission right now, but that’s another story. I would have freaked if I caught DH doing that. I definitely know what you’re feeling emotionally though…I feel like I have a ton of angst. **big hugs** Ok, now I wish I could find LC ice cream! Tiffany, glad the dr’s visit went well. Trolly, what type of anti depressants? Sometimes I seriously doubt I’ll make it through the remainder of my stint in Sweden w/o chemical help. But, the last thing I need is to take something that makes me gain more weight… Hi Shelly!! Mandy, I’m happy to hear you had a little breathing room yesterday ![]() Hey Dar, Logan fell asleep on his play mat yesterday too. He’s still deciding whether to suck his thumb or his fingers…thank God they fixed your fridge! Vanessa, maybe I’m too late, but this is an awesome custard (you can use Splenda in the custard and skip the caramel to make it LC): VANILLA-ORANGE CUSTARD WITH CARAMEL Cool and creamy, this custard combined with fresh berries makes a perfect dessert for a warm June day. Custard 2 oranges 2 cups milk (do not use low-fat or nonfat) 1 cup half and half 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar 1 1-inch piece vanilla bean, split in half lengthwise 4 large eggs 3 large egg yolks Caramel 1 1/4 cups sugar 1/4 cup plus 3 tablespoons water 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice 3 cups assorted mixed fresh berries For Custard Using vegetable peeler, cut peel (orange part only) in wide strips from oranges. Combine milk, half and half and sugar in saucepan. Scrape seeds from vanilla bean into milk mixture; add bean. Bring to simmer, stirring until sugar dissolves. Add peel. Remove from heat. Cover and steep 30 minutes. Strain mixture into medium bowl; cool to lukewarm. Whisk eggs and yolks in large bowl to blend. Gradually whisk milk mixture into eggs. Chill until cold. For Caramel Mix 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water and juice in heavy medium saucepan. Stir over low heat until sugar dissolves. Increase heat; boil without stirring until syrup turns deep amber, occasionally swirling pan and brushing down sides with wet pastry brush, about 10 minutes. Add 3 tablespoons water (mixture will bubble). Stir over low heat until hard bits dissolve. Immediately pour into 6-cup soufflé dish; swirl to coat bottom and halfway up sides. Cool. Preheat oven to 350°F. Whisk custard; pour into caramel-coated dish. Place in large baking pan. Fill pan with enough hot water to come halfway up sides of dish. Cover pan completely with foil, sealing at edges. Bake until center 3 inches of custard moves only slightly when dish is shaken, about 1 hour. Remove from oven; let stand covered 10 minutes. Remove from water; chill overnight. Combine berries and 1/4 cup sugar in bowl. Let stand 30 minutes. Run knife around sides of dish to loosen custard. Place platter atop dish. Invert custard onto platter. Remove dish; allow caramel to spill out onto platter. Garnish with some berries. Serve, passing berry mixture separately. Serves 8. So, Logan had his first major screaming fit last night. It lasted almost ½ an hour and we’re still not sure what it was all about. Gave him some baby Tylenol and he eventually settled down and went to sleep, but didn’t eat his dinner or before bed bottles. Monday and Tuesday nights he basically slept through the night (yeah!), hopefully we can continue with that trend, and skip the screaming. My sympathy goes out to all the mommies with colicy babies! The only things we can think of is, A he’s getting the bug I’ve had (but he seems totally normal today) or B He had built up stress to let go of. He rarely cries for more than a couple of minutes. *shrug* He just farted so loudly he scared himself! Must take after one of his uncles! Does anyone else have various words on the thread highlighted in blue and linking somewhere? I wonder why I have those… |

Morning everyone.
Lauren-how are you feeling Cyn-getting off of work is always a plus right? Hi Martha-oh the screaming...I have been dealin w/ that for about 3 months now...dealt w/ it again last night.. Morning Dawn-how are you today? I woke up pretty darn refreshed. Emily screamed at bedtime again. She was completely asleep in our arms and as soon as we put her down she woke up. So I did some of lizzyd had posted the other day about Ferber. I waited 5 minutes and went in and calmed her down...she was completely calm..then I walked out again. After that I waited 7 minutes..but by that time she was already asleep. So maybe this will work.. I have to go back to the doctor today for my Rhogam shot and for some initial blood work. We will be leaving around lunch time..but before that I get to deal our bank...they are really messing up lately...so the fun will begin in about 3 minutes.

I'm sitting here trying to type while I hold Emily. Looks like she's going to be clingy today. Oh Shelly - We do have DQ's in Alabama! What part of the state are you in? |

Teriyaki cheesesteak stuffed peppers:
1 to 1.5 lbs of ground beef (I really don't know how much I had... enough to fill a sandwich-size ziplock. I don't recommend lean hamburger for this, as it will be a very dry recipe in the end.) 1 cup of carbsmart teriyaki sauce (more to taste) 6 oz of your favorite cheese, divided 1/4 cup of no sugar added salsa 3 large bell peppers 3 eggs salt to taste Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Salt skillet and heat to medium. Scramble the beef, but do not brown it too much. When beef is almost completely cooked, add teriyaki sauce and salsa. Stir in. Whisk eggs up, and slowly pour them into the beef mix, while stirring it briskly. Add 3oz of your cheese (shredded or cubed) and stir to distribute evenly and melt. Mixture should be fairly moist at this point, but thickened with the egg. If it seems a little dry, don't hesitate to add water (or teriyaki or salsa). Spoon mixture into peppers (remove the stem, seeds, and ribs first, of course). Place on baking sheet. Top with remaining cheese. Bake for 1/2 hour. Tiffany- You are doing awesome with Emily!!!! I don't care what some people say....Dr. Ferber rocks.
Dawn- Yes, I like the fact that there isn't any "background history" in this book. I'm about 3/4 of the way thru now....but that is only because I've had a little one going to bed at 8pm'ish and sleeping thru the night, gives me about a hour and a half to read each night (that and the fact that I haven't been on here). Day #4 of induction (the day where all food makes me feel like vomiting): B- LC Yogurt Smoothie (4 carbs) L- LC Seafood Gumbo (5 carbs) D- Steak and veggie (6 carbs) S- String Cheese (1) Last edited by Friendship : 07-21-2005 at 07:08 AM. |

Martha- Words underlined in blue are items that are sold in the Netrition store. I think that's how it works!
No-no don't make it Tuesday again... I want to keep it Thursday, so I can stay home today! I'm watching 30 days and it's really painful. It's the episode where the mother binge drinks for 30 days to make her daughter understand what happens. The girl is 17 and talking about how she blacks out etc. She's so disrespectful towards her mother. If I were here, her butt would be hauled out of school and then... I don't know. I'll have to think more about it. BBL

It's hard to type holding a squirmy 26 pound baby but I wanted to say hi to those who have posted since I did.
Tiffany, your Emily is one month younger than my Emily and we've had some problems with her pulling her own hair instead of hitting herself like you said your daughter does. I guess it's just a phase they're going through and i keep hoping "this too shall pass!" Melissa - I love, love, love those stuffed peppers! They're delicious. Martha - Does your baby have colic? My first daughter had it and for the first 6 months of her life she cried nonstop for HOURS every day. Nothing we did for her helped. The fact that she had colic and the endless crying played a big part in why I waited so long to have another child! Thank goodness Emily never had that problem. I would probably be locked in a padded cell somewhere if she'd had it!

We never had trouble w/ Emily eating until she got on table food..and as far as sleeping never had trouble w/ her until we moved here. I really think Emilys problem is that she is afraid I am going to leave her. My mom and grandmother had to pick her up so DH and I could start packing our stuff to move...and ever since then she is a clingy baby...I know she will be alright...I just have to be deal w/ her in a calm way...and let her know I love her. We made some progress though..even though she was mad..she did not hit herself in the head or slap herself in the face...so that was a good sign to me.. ![]() |
