Hey Everyone!
Just a quick drive by to say hi. It is going to be in the mid-90s today so we decided to go to the lake to splash around on the beach later today. I can't wait. Becca-I think the advice you gave to Celia was great. Very well said. How is Luke doing? Celia and Littlegunshots-hang in there. We are here for you! Grace-Glad your shower was wonderful. For my shower with DS, I was amazed how generous people are. Hi to everyone else! Have a great day! |

Good Morning, ladies!
I have some meetings to go to today I was able to work out last night without feeling like I was dying. Thank goodness. My doctor wants me to do cardio 5 days a week since I've gained so much. The funny thing is, I drank so much water yesterday, and my scale this morning showed 4 pounds less than their scale did yesterday. I wish I would have weighed myself at home yesterday morning to have a better comparison. Jackie--Can you believe we are almost out of the first trimester? I'll try to check back later. Have a wonderful day! Louise |

Hey ladies,
Jackie, have fun at the lake. That sounds like a blast! Louise, honestly I don't know why your doc is so worried about your weight gain. Sheesh! I think I gained 10 lbs. the second I went from OWL to Maintenance. Luckily my doc visit wasn't for a couple of weeks after that, so THEY didn't record the gain. But I did. LOL. My advice is to eat the best you can, and not sweat it too much. ![]() On the vitamin subject -- I couldn't tolerate my (over the counter) prenatals the first 12 weeks or so. I took my kids' gummy bear vitamins. Hey, it worked. I got the sour ones with calcium and it actually seemed to help any nausea. ![]() As for IUGR and the article posted yesterday... I think this article is a little misleading. Not every IUGR diagnosis leads to miscarriage, and not every miscarriage is related to IUGR. I'm not saying that lack of blood flow/nutrients to the placenta isn't important, but giving this such a "blanket" label is a bit worrisome. In my case, my daughter was always measuring 3 weeks behind in my ultrasounds, so they gave her the IUGR label, and put me on bedrest at 28 weeks. Turns out I have a genetic clotting disorder. The blood flow in the umbilical and placenta were fine, she was just small. We knew about this going into my current pregnancy, and this little girl is measuring in the normal range, and so far I'm at 29 weeks with no bedrest! ![]() Um, what else... Celia, I am sorry to hear your DBF isn't turning handsprings. Men don't seem to have that connection to a growing life that we do, and sometimes it takes them a wee bit longer to get used to things... I want to send you and I sure hope that Dairy Queen tasted yummy! Remember too that your hormones are building off the scale right now and you're bound to be emotional no matter what. Good luck and we're here for you whenever you want to vent or anything.ttfn, Jenn

Morning ladies...
Grace ~ Glad everything is okay with you. See you when you check in! Louise ~ Jackie ~ Have fun at the lake. I am so envious right now!! Ugh...I don't want to be a big baby at work, but I am tempted to see if I can get permission to park in the handicapped parking spaces. Every morning I end up parking so far away from the front door - and with the humidity and the 90+ degree weather, plus no a/c in my car, I am dragging my feet, huffing and puffing all the way through the parking lot. I dread walking to and from my car everyday. Other than that...I was 30 minutes late today because of my bum issues!! I had to go so bad, and NOTHING!! Definitly going to mention it to the doctor today at my appt. Well, I am really tired today and have to get my work done so I can leave early. BBL

Need to advice please.
Emily is bound and determined not to sleep in her crib. I tried changing her to a toddler bed and it didnt work. She stepped out of the bed instead of crawling and busted her mouth. Then last night...she screamed at the top of her lungs for almost 10 minutes...and then woke up like that. Well needless to say the first thing this morning she got spanked. I mean there is no reason why she should be acting like that. She isnt sick, all new teeth are in, I got a mattress pad to make her bed softer...so there is NO REASON at all. I am seriously at my wits end. I dont know what else to do. I think it is separation anxiety...but I have reassured her time and time again that everything is ok. So I dont know. Any suggestions??

Tiffany ~ Sorry...no advice to give.
I am new at this...but I am sure you are very frustrated. Maybe she is nervous about the new baby? Does she know yet? |

Celia ....
If you still have that ticket can you just go anyway and suprise him? Maybe you can see what he is doing and allieviate or confirm your trust issues? If in the end he ends up a jerk... then you just need to move on without him. My 12 year olds dad turned out that way. Have you tried Planned Parenthood or a county clinic maybe? They both do sliding scale many times. Might get you in earlier! And being able to get any vitamin down counts in my book! ![]() |

Tiffany, separation anxiety is most likely the cause... it's supposed to peak at about 18 mos. then go away around 2 years. By then they're old enough to know that just because you're out of sight doesn't mean you're not coming back.
Can you start small with the toddler bed? Like do fun things on there like reading a book or some play time? She might just need to get used to it a little. And on the tantrum. We had one of those today. Ugh! Sounds like she's testing her limits (and yours too). Can you get her to fall asleep elsewhere and then put her in the crib? That works for us most of the time.Amy, can you get a doctor's note giving you permission to park closer? At my old job we had health services spaces where we could park if needed (they were right next to the handicapped ones). -- Jenn |

Hi girls,
Hope everyone is having a good day so far. I'm officially at the halfway mark today. Hurry up and get out here, Herm! Tiffany - sorry to hear about the frustrating situation with your daughter. Would it work to put her on her mattress in your room for a short term and try to reassure here there's no reason to be afraid? Or is that just setting up another problem? Sorry I have no real words of advice or experience for you. Good for you on the workout Louise! Don't stress too much about your weight. If you're exercising now, and watching what you eat, you can maintain for a little while and then start gaining again when appropriate. Good luck and yeah on the maternity clothes! Is your morning sickness all gone now? Hi Jackie, Amy and LunaAshling! Quote:
I didn't get the message that the researchers were saying all miscarriages are caused by IUGR, nor that all IUGR diagnoses will lead to miscarriage. What I understood is that they have discovered there is a defective enzyme that causes IUGR and it CAN lead to miscarriages. Of course, there are other causes of miscarriage as well. But I think it's great news if they can identify women who have this defective enzyme and hopefully develop treatments to allow them to carry healthy babies to term. I thought it was an interesting and hopeful article. I didn't mean to upset anyone. Anyway, I have a ton of work to get through today. I'll check back with you guys later today. Have a good one! |

Tiffany, I don't co-sleep and Alison sleeps 9-10 hours at night. She has since about 12 weeks. I made a point to put her to bed awake, but drowsy. Sometimes she will be up for an hour or so after I put her down, giggling and babbling to herself or her toys. I know she's much younger than Emily and doesn't have the separation anxiety yet, though. Good Luck!

Yeah Kaillean!! Half way there!!
![]() So, I just called the spa near my work that does pregnancy massages and they don't use the special table. They prop a pillow under you so you are half on your stomach, half on your side. I guess the search continues...but I don't know where to stop. |

Hi guys!
Amy - Constipation is the pits. So far, I'm not too bad this time because I've been drinking lots more water and exercising a lot. But when you're as big as you are, its probably hard to exercise much. Have you tried mineral oil? My doctor recommend that for me last time I was PG, and it help a little bit. Luna - I've been thinking of calling planned parenthood to see if I can find some affordable counseling. I definitely need it now, but probably even more so down the road if things don't work with me and the BF (I've decided to drop the "D" for now, because he's not being Dear at all). I can't use my ticket to go surprise him... I think that would be a bad idea. Besides, its a huge AF base and I have no idea how to find him. Kaillean - Congrats on being half way through! I don't have much new to report. BF called last night, but I had my phone shut off to try to get some sleep. We emailed briefly today and agreed to talk tonight. Hopefully, we'll have a good talk and some of my worries will be put to rest. This is such an awful time to have him away and unavailable. I'm going to be honest with him and ask him for some emotional support, if he can spare it. He's said "I love you" before, but only once in a while... I'm going to ask him to please try to show some affection to me, since I'm insecure right now. His detachment has caused us problems in the past. I'll assume he's not into me anymore, and start treating him the same way he treats me and then he's always like, "What's wrong? Don't you love me anymore?" ARRGGGHH!! I honestly feel better when I don't think about him at all. So that's what I'm trying to do. Question re: Morning sickness... I don't really have it. Never had. Just a little queasy in the AM, but it usually goes away after I take my morning walk. Is this a bad sign? Anyone NOT get morning sickness? I've got other symptoms like sore boobs, and fatigue and hunger. Also, smells are bothering me a lot. Like I have Super Smell Ability. I can smell someone light a cigarette 100 yards away, or smell bacon frying three houses down. Weird. Anyone else have that? I guess I'm worried that my lack of morning sickness means that maybe my pregnancy isn't right and I'll miscarry again. Maybe that's stupid, I don't know. |

Celia, I had almost no morning sickness at all, and my baby is just fine. I sometimes got a little queasy if I let myself get too hungry, or first thing in the morning, when my blood sugar was low.
But even that was only about week 6-8, and after that I never had any nausea at all. Be happy you've escaped the dreaded M/S! Some of the ladies here will tell you how lucky we are! |

Celia, I never got "sick", but would get nauseous if I did not eat. I ended up eating small meals throughout the day to help that. That's a good habit to get into, anyways, because as baby grows, you won't have room for large meals, anyways!
I NEVER had boob issues. Every woman is different and has different symptoms. Don't stress if you have one and not another. |

On one hand, knowing you have this enzyme and might have problems would be nice! On the other, would it cause insurance problems and cause you to be labeled "high risk" ??? I have a genetic problem and struggle with whether or not I should have my daughter(s) tested, mainly because I don't want it labelled on their insurance for life. Luckily it's controllable with vitamin therapy, so I think we'll just treat it proactively and let them be aware when they're old enough to think of children of their own. Celia, I never really got sick either. Had Super Nose, a little boob tenderness, and mostly queasy with funny smells. Exhausted tired, too. I wouldn't worry if you're not .-- Jenn |

No worries Jenn. You make a good point about insurance. I always forget about that. In Canada, we have public health insurance, so our rates stay the same whether or not we have any "high risk" conditions.
I laughed at your Super Nose comment -- I read in a book of mine that one of the pregnancy symptoms is developing a sense of smell to rival Lassie the Wonder Dog. Too true! My DH's stinky feet are enough to induce their own form of morning sickness. |

Talk about bad smells... they are laying new blacktop in the parking lot right outside my office window today. Barf!!! I can't stand it.
But other times I like having Super Nose... Like in the morning when I walk my dog, and everything outdoors is fresh and green, and humid and lush. Its amazing to breath it all in. I wonder what is the point of Super Nose, ya know? Maybe some leftover primative instinct from the stone age? Maybe so we could smell danger outside the cave or in the woods.... ha ha! |

Celia- just wanted to add that I have had 2 blight ovum as well in the past 3 years, and each time I was REALLY nauseous all the time. So as you can see, it is not an indication that all is well or not since everyone is different.
I am 30 weeks pregnant now for our first and was super nauseous for about, oh, 6 months (ack!) so it's great that you aren't feeling m/s |

Hi everyone,
Just popping out of lurk mode to say Hi! I can't believe how far along everyone is getting!!! Charlotte is doing great. We visited our lactation consultant and found out she's 10 pounds already! So, apparently breastfeeding is going well She is also now sleeping up to 5 hours at a time which is HEAVEN. She does have periods of general fussiness in the late afternoons but usually if we swaddle her in her Miracle Blanket she conks right out. I STRONGLY recommend you guys get one of these blankets, they are awesome!Amy, you are not being a baby - I would totally try to get the parking pass! There's NO WAY I could be pregnant in this heat and do anything other than take cold shower and sit in the A/C! On the constipation, try a spoonful of molasses stirred into some warm water. Celia, I didn't have any morning sickness to speak of either. Like Dar I would just get queasy if I got too hungry. Greetings everyone else! Meg
