Morning ladies...

Kaillean ~ That blanket and sweater are so cute. I am so NOT crafty. I could never do anything like that. Yeah for you!!

Grace ~ Glad your iron levels came out okay. I am moderately anemic and HATE taking the extra iron. I am sure you can figure out a couple of the reasons.

Martha ~ Oooo...Logan is adorable. That last picture is so funny - like he doesn't quite know what to make of that thing hanging in his face! LOL

Okay, funny thing...today is my first weekly appt. So, I am getting the strep b test and an internal, so I figure that maybe I should neaten up "down there". OMG...I don't know what it looks like!! My Dr. might be like !! I used DH's beard trimmer to just sort of trim it and I couldn't see a darned thing!! I was trying to use the mirror, but I got all mixed up and lost my bearings. Hopefully it isn't too scary!! LOL

Okay, speaking of strep b - do any past mommies know if they use the spectum for that?? They used one in L&D the other day and I was thinking no biggie - I do this once a year. Not exactly my favorite thing, but it doesn't hurt or anything - weird having DH in the room though. Well, they put that thing in and obsenities came flying out of my mouth!! It hurt so bad, so now I am terrified that they are going to use it today. I am still sore a little from the one on Sunday night. Please, please tell me that they can do the test without the spectrum.

Well, got to go...leaving at 2:30 today for back to back therapist and doctor's appts.

BBL!!

Hi everyone,

Well unfortunately I woke up to that discoloration again. So today is the day I can make my doctors appointment. So hopefully I can get in tomorrow and find out if everything is ok.

LOL Amy-I was a fanatic about keeping it neat and tidy down there. I was so afraid the doctor would freak if he saw me all nasty..lol

I am not crafty either. I am good at decorating and cooking..but not making things like sweaters and blankets.

oh good news though, I finally got in about 25 minutes of walking yesterday. It was so hot though I am thinking that maybe doing some Yoga inside would be the best thing for me.

Take care girls..I have to go and fix Emily some breakfast.

Amy, they didn't use the speculum when they did my group B strep test. They just swab around the vagina and butt; nothing even went inside.

Ok ladies... where do I sign up?!

Just found out on Sunday (after being a week late and about 7 tests!) that we're expecting baby #2!! I'm so freakin' excited, I can hardly stand myself. Guess I'll introduce... I'm Dawn, 27, married to DH Jason for 3.5 years. We have little Eli who is 13 months and our little pride and joy! Both babies are first try babies.. thank goodness, because I am NOT patient whatsoever. So Babycenter puts my duedate at March 16, 2006. This baby will probably (looking into VBAC) be a repeat c-section... last time around was a 3 day horrendous labor including breaking my water, inducing me to get things going, and not even dilating to 3 cms. We'll see how this one goes!

So, I just got off the phone with the OB office. They said they can't get me in until August 24, which will put me after 11 weeks... When did you all get to go in? I'm so upset, and just want to get in there...

Thanks Dar & Friendship. That speculum hurt so bad!!

Dawn ~ Congrats...so you were one of the ladies I saw over on the LBF Thread yesterday! Whew - talk about a long labor. Hope things go better this time around. I think my first "appt" was at 8 weeks. But it wasn't even really an appt. I mean it was, but all we did was talk. My next one - reall one - wasn't until I was almost 12 weeks I think.

I had my little boy, Alexander Matthew, on May 7, 2005. He was 6 lbs 5 oz and 18.5 inches long!
Hopefully she stops in to see us! She couldn't find the thread after the big re-organization.

Hi Ladies,
Sorry it's been so long. I've been totally busy and a bit bluesy. I'm feeling better everyday though. We just got our hospital pictures back and I thought I'd share .

Here's a picture of ds on his first day of preschool summer program. He looks so big .

Congratulations to all the new mommies and pregnancies. I hope everyone is doing well.

I had a question and was hoping you ladies could help me with it.

I am very curious if anyone knows about this. Every day I usually add 1 Tablespoon of ground flax to my eggs for breakfast and I also take 3 flax oil pills a day. I was reading some place and it was saying not to consume flax while TTC..has anyone heard this? And if this is the case, then why should you avoid it?

TIA

Samantha, is there a reason you are taking the flax? Is it to keep you regular? Are you pregnant and staying low carb?

I don't know about not taking flax while pregnant. But, to help me get my fiber in and keep me regular, I had Fiber One cereal for breakfast and took Fiber Choice chewable tablets. It worked really well.

Well I am not pregnant, we are thinking about TTC in a few months. I have started charting and things like that. Taking my folic acid and B6 to help make my LP longer. I take ground flax and flax pills just for the overall health that it offers. I read an article saying that you should avoid it if you are TTC or if you are pregnant but it really didn't give me solid ground to stand on, if you know what I mean.

Just a few things about the health aspect.

Small but mighty flax
The attributes of flaxseed read like a nutritionist’s dream come true. It’s a potent food source of plant-based omega-3 essential fatty acids (EFAs), which appear to provide protection against numerous ailments, including atherosclerosis, inflammatory and autoimmune disorders, and some types of cancer. Flax also contains lignans, plant-based phytoestrogens believed to help protect against hormone-sensitive cancers by inhibiting enzymes involved in hormone metabolism, reducing estrogen availability, and interfering with tumor cell growth (Urology, 2004, vol. 63, no. 5).

Because whole flaxseeds pass right through your system, always grind seeds well before eating.

Flax’s omega-3s may reduce cardiovascular disease risk by lowering the chance of blood clots, stroke, and cardiac arrhythmias, and by reducing total and LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure (Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 2002, vol. 87, no. 4; Nutrition Reviews, 2004, vol. 62, no. 1). Other data point to flax’s ability to relieve mild menopausal symptoms (Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2002, vol. 100, no. 3). Researchers also identify flax as a source of the powerful antioxidant secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (SDG), which may help retard the development of diabetes (Journal of Laboratory and Clinical Medicine, 2001, vol. 138, no. 1). And because it’s got nearly 3 grams of fiber per ground tablespoon, adding flax to your diet even helps regulate bowels and prevent constipation.

One to two tablespoons of ground flaxseed per day can boost your health, says Lilian Thompson, PhD, professor of nutritional sciences at the University of Toronto and a leading flaxseed researcher. Thompson cautions against eating more if you’re breast-feeding or trying to conceive, and advises pregnant women to avoid it. Breast cancer patients who are taking tamoxifen should also use caution. “Recent animal and test-tube studies show that flaxseed does not interfere with tamoxifen,” she notes, “but this has yet to be demonstrated in human studies.”

This could be why. Something that interferes with hormones is not really to be trifled with unless there's been extensive study. There probably hasn't been alot of study, so they just want to take the safer approach. Same with green tea.

Okay, gals, the girls on the LTBF thread don't need them, so offering here for anyone that is having a baby soon, just had a baby, etc.

I have 2- $2.00 off coupons for Pampers Diapers. If anyone wants them PM me your addy and I'll send them off in the mail tomorrow. I can only use Huggies with Hunter so I hate to throw these coupons away.

Hi Again!

Amy-Good Luck at your appointment. Weekly now!

Tiffany-Sorry to hear you are still spotting.

Mandy-Hi. How is Spencer doing these days?

Dawn- and Congratulations! This is #2 for me as well. My first appointment (talking and paperwork only) was at 7 weeks. Your labor sounds...exciting!?!? Was your pregnancy easy or difficult?

Ravenly74-Congratulations!

Alli-Great pics. It is hard to watch my little man grow up too. WTG on the weight loss.

Samantha-Hi. Sorry I can't be much help regarding flax. Don't take my word for it, but I believe Grace uses flax regularily in her pregnancy. Maybe she can help you out.

Jai-Congrats on finding out it is a girl.
