Morning ladies. No time for personals. I had a pretty bad scare last night. I woke up w/ a little light brown discharge. It was right when Emily woke up screaming. So I ended up waking up Jim, freaking out, and he had to calm me down.
I never thought of the chances of miscarriage until last night. But I was and am pretty frightened now. Please keep the our little surprise in your prayers. Thanks I posted this on losin the baby fat thread too. |

Good morning, Everyone!
Barbi/Daisy73, congratulations on your good news! I hope that Amy is okay. Those belly shots were great! Kaillean, I hope you get your results today. I can relate to your frustration with your doctor's staff. My doctor is also fabulous, but her staff is horrible. If I call with a question, they never call me back until I call again & remind them, even when I was having that really severe pain at around 16 weeks. My doctor told them to tell me to go get an u/s & they never bothered to call me! Lara, adorable pictures of Abby! We got our crib set up over the weekend & I put the bedding on, etc. I took some pictures & will try to post them later. Can't find the cable to download them to my computer. I hope our ladies in the Southeast are all safe from the hurricane. Have a fabulous Monday everyone! |

Morning ladies... *yawn*
I'm here. Got in around 10:30 last night. All is fine. I feel like such a dork. The hospital did a swab test, look under the microscope and did an u/s and all if hunky dory! I guess the sheet that my doctor's office gave me has me all freaked out. It has al the signs of PTL and if I have any of the symptoms, I am to call my doctor - so that is what I did. I mostly feel like a dork, because I was just there 2.5 weeks ago for back pain. Well, no time for personals...just wanted to let you all know I am here. The other girl on my team decided that she has a 48 hour bug. So, she is out today and tomorrow. Makes me so mad - just frick'n schedule a vacation day!!

Good Morning,
Daisy-Congratulations. As far as the cramping goes, I had intense cramps at six weeks when pregnant with DS. They were so bad I was convinced I was having a miscarriage. I also spotted at eight weeks and everything turned out to be normal. This pregnancy WILL stick! Lara-Great pics. Kaillean-Sorry you are getting the run around with your Drs office. Feeling the baby move at your stage is very sporatic. Please don't let it worry you if you don't feel movement for several days. Can't wait to hear how your ultrasound goes tomorrow! SmileyAmy-Your progress pics are wonderful. Glad you are back and everything is OK. When my water broke with DS is started as a trickle but turned into gushes within two hours. I hope you aren't swamped with someone elses work today. Tiffany- Please try not to worry too much. Brown spotting isn't considered serious but try telling that to a pregnant lady! Let us know how you are doing. Grace-Congratulations on getting the crib set up. Only ten more weeks to go (give or take)! I need some advice. I am not sure how to tell my cousin I am pregnant. She has been TTC for a total of four years now. She got pregnant last December and miscarried in January. All she has ever wanted to be is a mother. TTC has consumed her life. I know she will be happy for me but also it has to hurt some as well. If anyone has any words of wisdom for me I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks. |

Positive thoughts Sinrah. Just to let you know I spotted the entire time I was pregnant. Never anything major but spotted constantly. Amy- You will notice more thinner discharge as you get further along. I kept worrying that my water broke too. Hugs to everyone. Be back later. |

Hey Jackie~ I had the same situation, but with my good friend. She had been doing in-vitro for months and then I got pregnant pretty easily. I was nervous to tell her too, but I just took a deep breath and matter of factly said that I was pregnant. I didn't act too happy or squeal either (although I wanted to). She took it pretty well, said she was happy for me and then got off the phone pretty quickly. It took a week or so, but she started calling me and everything was OK. Funny thing is, 3 months later she got pregnant....

Good morning everyone.
Jackie- I was one of those people who wanted children for about 12 years without any luck due to different circumstances and I can tell you, as my friends and family had children, I would have been more hurt if they had not told me when they were expecting. You do feel some pain of "why not me" but it does not diminish your joy for people you care about. I was always thrilled to have another little blessing in my life to be able to spoil. Tiffany - I hope everything is fine for you. They always tell you not to worry if it is just light brown without cramping. Could be a ton of reasons. It seems you don't hear alot about other women having spotting at all until it happens to you, but it is actually really common. Grace- how exciting to have the baby's room set up. I love going in and just looking around our baby's room. Amy- try not to feel bad. Better safe then sorry is the best way to go! Hope you are feeling well now. Becca - have a great day. Things are off to a great week here. Had a massive storm last night that woke me at 2 am with hail, wind and rain. On top of my 2 bathroom trips and 2 or 3 tosses and turns due to sunburn (oops) I didn't have a restful night, but for some reason feel great this morning. Now come 2 pm this afternoon it might be a different story! Have a great day all!

Good Morning, ladies.
I barely slept last night. Our cat Simon can't understand that everyone needs to put their heads at the top of the bed, and their feet towards the bottom. He likes to lay sideways . So he takes up like 1/2 the bed. Here's a pic of us from last winter. Yes, we were really both asleep. ![]() I am moody these days. DH is doing so much to keep the house cleaned, etc, but I just feel like he isn't doing enough . I know I am being unreasonable. I haven't said anything to him. I tend to keep it all inside.Amy--Sorry about your false alarm. Sinnrah--I hope everything is okay. I am sure it is. for you.Grace--I can't wait to see your pics! Jackie--It took my best friend 2 years to get pregnant. I felt strange about telling her since we got pg on our first month of really trying. She was really happy for me. Becca--Hello!!! I am looking for DH so he can take me to lunch. I IM'ed him, but he is not responding. |

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am making this harder than it has to be. I know she will be happy for us, but I just don't want to upset her either.
Diedra-I think I will tell her and then wait for her to contact me just like you did. Your Avi pic is great! vjfreddi-Well since you got a sunburn your weekend weather couldn't have been all that bad. Hope the hail didn't damage anything. Louise-Cute picture! Our dogs turn into chickens when a thunderstorm is around so on those nights they have to sleep on our bed or they drive us crazy. For being small dogs they sure are bed hogs! Sorry about your moodiness. I'm sure your husband understands. Enjoy your lunch. I think it is neat that you two work for the same company and can spend time like that together. |

Well I did some research and one of the causes is intercourse. And my hubby and I did have sex yesterday morning and I had that brown discharge later that evening. So maybe that is what happened.
But thank you all for the positive thought. Are any of you doing low carb while pregnant?? |

Don't have a lot of time, but Tiffany, just wanted to let you know that the brown spotting could just be left over blood from your last TOM. Usually as long as it isn't bright red, you are okay. I know how freaked you must be.
Well, got to get back to work...lurking today due to my "co worker" being out. ![]() Oh, just ordered and inexpensive robe and two nightgowns for the hospital. I figure after two false alarms, I really need to get a bag packed!! ![]() |

Hey ladies.
Sinrah- You may have a sensitive cervix. You might find you have brownish discharge after sex or after even the pressure of a BM. You may also have spotting at your usual time of the month for the first few months. Sorry you have to worry. |

Hi girls!
Well my doctor's office called and they finally have my trip screen results. They're okay. I have no details on the ratios yet, as the doc has to discuss those with me, but I won't have to have amnio. Yeah! Grace, I don't know what it is about doctor's staff. I think it's a job requirement that they be scatterbrained and beotchy Can't wait to see your nursery pics. Mandy and Jackie - thanks for the reassurances on the movement. I think I did feel slight twinges again yesterday and this morning, but they were faint so it is hard to be sure. Worrying seems like part of the territory! I will be glad to have my U/S tomorrow and see Herm again and know everything is okay. Jackie, I had a similar situation with a good friend who has been TTC for a long time. We decided to tell her DH first and let him break the news. Then a few days later when she had a chance to adjust to the news, she called us and congratulated us. Tiffany - I was going to ask you if intercourse could be to blame for the spotting. I spotted after sex sometimes even before I was pregnant. Sounds like you have no cause for worry! Whew! You asked about Low Carbing, too - I am still low carbing for the most part (Atkins maintenance), with the occasional indulgence. I think it was last weekend I posted a long rambling post, you might want to check it out. Or let me know if there's any specific questions you have and I'll see if I can help. Also on page 2 of the Women's Health forum index, you will see a post by Colleen44 called "PG and Low Carb" and there is info there as well. I haved gained 11.5 lbs so far at 19 weeks. I was up 13 but have lost 1.5 over the last couple of weeks. I have been really lucky with a problem free pregnancy so far. I don't know whether LC is helping or I'm just lucky, but I feel great and have lots of energy now that I'm in the 2nd tri. I wish the same for you! Luna - glad to hear you and Abby are doing well. I'm hoping to be able to use breast milk in bottles sometimes too. Let us know how it goes. "They" say if you do it early enough nipple confusion can be a non-issue. Think that's true? Val - I envy your sunburn. We have had so much rain here this year I can't believe it's summer. I hope it is not like this for our vacation in August. Louise - you look so cute in the pic with the cat! Amy - glad to hear it was a false alarm. Better to be safe than sorry. Hi Dierdre and Becca! Did you guys see the Maternity Madness story on MSNBC.com? Looks like the first in a series this week. Talks about how the information age has increased womens' anxiety about pregnancy. Check it out: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8161440/ The rest of the week covers these topics: July 12: Childbirth controversies abound July 13: Pregnant and worried about weight July 14: With no Mr. Right in sight, plan B July 15: A dad's anxieties Must go do something productive now. What a bore! BBL |

Hey Ladies!
Kaillean - Glad to hear about your trip screen results! YEAH!! Amy - Glad everything is ok!! Sinnrah - Yes, I totally plan to low carb while pregnant. I have Celiac's Disease and can't eat most grains anyway (it's a wheat allergy). I am eating beef, chicken, eggs, fish, fruits, veggies, occasional nuts, dairy, whey protein shakes sweetened with stevia, and lots of water. I am not counting carbs and making sure I eat loads of veggies and at least a couple of servings of fruit a day. The main grain that I can eat is rice which is just too high glycemic to have very often (I am also hypoglycemic). Louise - great picture! Hi to everyone else!!! Well, I just "launched" my first progesterone suppository. It is a precaution my doctor is taking to help me avoid a miscarriage this time. I get to take them twice a day and they have to be 12 hours apart. So, due to some issues with my schedule, I will do one at 3:30 p.m and then another at 3:30 a.m. Nothing like "launching" a refrigerated suppository into your "hoo-ha" at 3:30 a.m. in the morning to help you go back to sleep. I joke but we are happy to do anything we can to hold on to this little baby. For now, we are going to call it "Cletus, the Fetus." I've had a couple of those cramps today but not as many as over the weekend. At first I was worried that I had less of them but I was busy at work today and not able to focus on "Cletus" so I'm sure everything is ok. No need to start stressing this early. Well, I need to run!! Hope everyone is having a great afternoon!!!

thanks Barbi and Kaillean. I did not really do low carb w/ my first pregnancy...but I am really wanting to try to stick to at least 100 carbs a day if I can. but like today I did real good up until around 2 pm..then I had chicken tenders and then took an hour nap. but my weight gain is nothing so far. Which with my last pregnancy I had already gained 5 lbs. I am trying to stay at a 30 lb weight gain w/ this baby. I am hoping I can do that. W/ Emily I gained 50 lbs.
I did go for my mile walk and that made me feel better. I went even though I was tired..and it really did wonders for waking me up. lol

Hi girls,
I'm sick of being productive. As I promised last week, here's a picture of the blanket that I made for Herm. My mom's recent visit inspired me to start crocheting again for the first time since I was a teen. There are a few mistakes, but I don't think Herm will notice. And here's a pic of the sweater I made next. I've never made any kind of clothes before. I still have to add the four buttons, I want to get wooden ones as the sweater looks kind of "granola" to me. Probably because my stitches are so freaking tight. It did make the sweater a little stiff, but I hope it will soften up in the wash. Otherwise the kid won't be able to move his/her arms. I've got another one in the works. I hope poor Herm won't be traumatized by having to wear all these practice versions. Anyone else feeling all crafty/Martha? I also bought a bunch of scrapbooking supplies that I haven't done anything with yet. It's SO unlike me to be doing the Suzy Homemaker routine. (No offense to any of you Suzies out there. )BBL Last edited by Kaillean : 07-11-2005 at 05:06 PM. |

Sinnrah--I am not doing LC. Unfortunately, I gained about 15 pounds before I got pregnant. I haven't weighed myself since. I have a dr. appt next week, and I am sure they will weigh me then
.Amy--glad you ordered some stuff to wear in the hospital. I'd be really worried after two false alarms. Daisy--It sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you, but I am so sure it will be worth it in the end. (although I wouldn't want to wake up at 3:30 am to do anything other than go pee) Kaillean--glad you don't have to have the amnio. Good luck at your ultrasound! I wanted you all to know I'll be offline for the next 2 days. I have to be in software training for work louise |

I love crafts!!!! I am working on a ripple afghan that will go in our bedroom, then I have a hat and scarf I want to make for myself. Then it is baby stuff time!!! I'd also love to learn to make wool soakers. My grandma told me she still has some patterns from when my Dad was a kid. They are knit though, and I only know how to crochet right now. The stuff you made is really nice! Louise |

Thanks Louise.
I want to make some wool soakers, too. I plan to give cloth diapering a whirl. I did come across a couple of patterns on the net to crochet. I don't knit either. I didn't bookmark them, silly me, because I'm not ready to make them yet. But they're out there. I'll let you know if I come across them again. |

Hey, sorry I was MIA today. I had a bunch of appts & then a doctor's appt with my glucose screening test. I passed, yay! I was worried about this one for some reason. My iron level was also very good, I guess. The bad news is that I am up another 4 pounds (in the last 3 weeks), bummer. Now, I am up a total of 22 pounds, yikes! My doc said that was right on target for 30 weeks, but I was hoping to gain less.
