Morning Ladies,

Not much to report here. Yesterday I had the worst grocery shopping trip ever. I met up with every unhappy child in the store. I have never heard so many crying/whining kids at one time. Yesterday was also the hottest day of the summer so far.

Kaillean-Your pregnancy is getting eventful now. Upcoming ultrasound and feeling the baby !

Mandy-Congratulations. Spencer will grow like a weed now.

Becca-Great pics. You have a cute bunch.

Alli-Good to see you. Hang in there. I'm thinking of you.

Tiffany-Hope your cramps ease up soon and you don't feel too hungary all the time.

Hi to everyone else who checks in.

Well, I'm off to do outside chores so I can hang out by the (kiddie) pool this afternoon when it gets hot.

Hey ladies,

Quiet today!

I can't believe I'm almost in the third trimester. Wow! I start my NST's next week, along with the ultrasound checks. I had my first DD at 37 weeks, so if this one's about the same, I have 10 weeks left to go. OMG!

I passed my 1-hour glucose screen, but the blood sugar results were on the high side of normal, so I'm watching what I eat more carefully now. I don't think we're in danger of having a big baby, but I want her as healthy as possible (me too, for that matter).

On the fun side, I'm feeling her move all the time now. I just ate some grapes, and she's doing a little tango in my tummy.

It's so fun seeing all the newborns and watching us all move up on that list.

Hugs,

Jenn

Hello ladies! Happy Friday!!

Jackie--Sorry about the bad trip to the grocery store. We keep having bad experiences while eating out. DH just looks at me like "oh boy, is that what we are getting into?" How hot is it there? I think it is going to get up to 90 here today.

Tiffany--Sorry you are so hungry. I can't say I've really been all that hungry but I have been eating like a pig .

Kaillean--I'd love to see a pic of the blanket you made for herm. I am working on an afghan for our bedroom right now and it is going so slow!! I am just too tired to work on it. I'd really like to get it done so I can move on to baby items.

My problem of the day: underwear! I really need some new ones as mine are looking sort of shabby. But I don't want to buy my usual size if I am going to grow out of them. I really don't know what to do. I guess I'll just buy some that will last me for a bit now and I can always wear them again next year.

DH is (finally) getting more excited about the baby . I was reading in Your Pregnancy Week by Week that the baby is about the size of a small lime now. I told DH and he couldn't believe it. I guess he still thought the baby was the size of a piece of sand or something. He asked me if it still looked funny or if it looked like a person yet. He specifically asked if it had fingers or toes yet. I told him yes. He was amazed. I think he is going to be really excited after our next Dr. appointment.

As you might expect by my long post, I have a bit of energy today . I still feel really queasy, but I don't feel like I am going to fall asleep at my desk.

Have a wonderful day!

Louise

Louise, I wore my regular size undies the whole time. They eventually just sat under my belly.

Hi to everyone else. Spencer is keeping me super busy. I'll pop back in when he's napping.

Good morning, mommies.

I still feel blah today. I have felt this way all week, after overdoing it last weekend. I'm nauseous this morning, nothing sounded good for breakfast, had 2 pop tarts (evil) and some steamed milk. Still wondering if it is just the third trimester blahs. Also, had a terrible time sleeping, hips hurt on both sides and DH decided to turn the fan off in the middle of the night because it was too "noisy". No, we do not have a/c and yes, it is too hot to sleep without at least a fan. I turned it back on after not sleeping for about 2 hours in the middle of the night. Okay, enough complaining for one day, sorry!

Jackie & Lou, that is interesting about the grocery store & dining out. We have had that happen while dining out & at friend's houses. DH has expressed concern about what we are getting ourselves into. This is our first child and we are in our late 30's. He ran across this blog that he found rather amusing & disturbing, from a fellow computer geek. Well, at least he's reading something about being a new dad!

The Story About the Baby

Hey, Jenn! Wow, you are almost in the third trimester! Isn't it great to feel your baby move? Have you decided on names yet?

Hey, Mandy! You snuck in there on me. I'm so happy that you have Spencer home with you now. About the undies, I am still in my regular ones (at 29 weeks). But, I have to say that they are definitely getting uncomfortable, even with wearing them below my belly. I may have to give in to the granny-like maternity undies. Does anyone have any favorites? Comfort is beginning to be my #1 priority. Becca?

I just got some cheapo Hanes at Target in one size bigger than I normally wear. I went with the low cut, and they worked very well!

Grace, we've decided on Eleanor for her first name. Still working on the middle name though... I find the maternity underwear to be much more comfortable at this stage! I think my faves are the Duo Maternity ones (Is that Target brand or JC Penney? Can't remember...). They are SO ugly granny pants, but I am already huge and uncomfortable so I'll take any little bit of comfort I can get.

Mandy, glad to hear Spencer is home and doing well. His pictures are SO adorable. I know you hear this from everyone, but cherish every second -- they grow so fast. Last week I was going through Evelyn's baby box (I can't believe she's about to turn 18 months!) and I started bawling at her little preemie outfit and hospital hat that we'd put in there. She's so big now, walking and talking, and seeing those tiny little items brought it all back.

Louise and everyone about the dining out and such with the baby... Honestly, about the first 7-8 months weren't too bad. We could count on a nap or at least just a bottle feeding and that was it. Even during a movie... zonk city.

We REALLY noticed the "kid terror" stage at just over a year... Evelyn was crawling and would sit still for maybe 1/2 hour before wanting to get down and move around. Now, at 18 months, we can't take her to a movie anymore. She wants to walk up and down the aisles or around the seats.

Same thing with dining out... although she's now old enough to feed herself when we cut up the food and such, her attention span and tolerance only last so long before we have cranky child at the table.

The last time we attempted to eat out, hubby and I both decided we would have to nix that and have someone babysit until she's a little older.

Boy, it sure has been quiet around here lately!

Jeepifer-Congrats on reaching the third trimester. Enjoys the tummy tango. Vjfreddi calls it baby taebo!

Louise-So glad to hear you have energy today. Hopefully it will last! Our high temps have reached 85 all this week. For the high country of Colorado that is pretty warm. We have had some small rain showers but not enough to keep fire danger low and we are pretty nervous right now. Sometimes we get close to 90 later in the summer, but it only lasts an hour tops before we cool back down. As far as underwear go, I just wore mine under my belly.

Mandy-Congratulations again on having your little man at home.

Grace-Sorry you are feeling run down. Will this weekend be relaxing for you?

Dar-Hi. Are you preparing for a hurricane? Are they projecting Dennis to hit close to you?

Hi girls,

I really slept in today. Didn't get up until 11 AM! My BIL is staying with us, and he snores like you wouldn't believe, so I needed to catch up on my sleep.

Hey Jackie, don't let those kiddies scare ya - yours will be a perfect angel of course.

Jenn, you're getting so close! How are you feeling?

Louise - I will try to post a pic of the blanket later. I need to find my uplink cable. It's buried somewhere in the mess of my office. I'm still amazed I finished it. I should have been doing baby stuff sooner - it's much smaller so I get more instant gratification than the big projects. I'm actually almost finished the little sweater too. I crocheted the last of the pieces, and just started sewing it all together last night. We'll see how it turns out - I've never made clothes before.

That's great your DH is starting to get interested. I signed up for the weekly emails from Baby Center with info about development etc and print those off for DH or else give him a verbal update about how big the baby is now. He seems to like that and it keeps him at least a little involved. It's so abstract for them and so consuming for us!

About the undies -- I bought some bikinis one size up at Motherhood and I think they'll do the trick for a while. Not quite ready for the granny panties yet.

Mandy - that's so awesome that Spencer is home with you now. Is Jake excited, too? Must feel good to be away from the hospital after so long.

Hey Dar.

Grace, sorry you're feeling yucky.Get DH some ear plugs and tell him to leave the fan alone! I haven't needed ours because it's been so bloody awful here. Raining as we speak. HOpefully this is a just a short phase for you, and not the 3rd tri blahs already. How's your itchiness? Mine is a little better. The rash is mostly cleared up, but I still get itchy in the night. I'm going to check out that blog while I have something to eat.

Jenn - that's a nice name Eleanor. I really like those classic names. Anyone else have names picked out yet? We're thinking of James Riley or James Ian if it's a boy and Sadie if it's a girl. Not sure about the girl's middle name yet. Maybe Justine or Claire.

BBL after some food

OMG - that blog is hilarious. He's turned it into a book. I think I'm going to get it for DH. It's called The Poo Bomb: True Tales of Parental Terror. You can order it on Amazon.

Thanks for the link Grace.

P.S. Those of you taking flak for stopping BFing should read Week 3 of the The Baby Story. Too funny!

Thanks for the suggestions on the undies, everyone! I think I am going to try the low-cut ones in a size larger. I'm not really sure how much I would like a big panel covering my huge tummy, how sexy! (not that I am feeling sexy anyway)

Jenn, I love the name Eleanor, & Evelyn too! My first choice for a girl would have been Elizabeth, after my oldest girlfriend. We met as infants & lived across the street from each other for the first 18 or so years of our lives. Oh well, no girl name needed this time! I met a pregnant woman at the gym today. She has an 18 month old and was telling me the same thing about life being easier when the baby is still an infant because you can take them many more places.

Jackie, yes, I think that this weekend will be relaxing. All we have scheduled is a couple's shower for some friends that are getting married. Not too bad, & I already have a gift ready. The weekend after that is my "big shower". I have several friends flying in from out of town. Two of them are staying at my house and they don't really know each other. I have a feeling that will be an exhausting weekend. I better rest up! I noticed on my registry that my travel system was purchased. Yay! Hopefully a group went in on it, since it was around $200.

Kaillean, I agree that DH needs to get some earplugs or something. He doesn't quite get it that I am hotter than he is because I am pregnant. He often closes windows & turns off fans without even asking me. Glad to hear that your rash has mostly cleared up. My itchiness is a little better. I really like the names that you have picked out. Sadie was another top choice for us for a girl. I love the name Ian. My brother named one of his sons Ian, so I can't really use it. We're most likely going to name our little guy Simon. Colin was another choice, but we know a few already.

Isn't that blog hilarious? I ordered the book for DH from Amazon.

I like Simon. That's a good name. Always makes me picture a wise looking little baby.

We will call the baby Jamie if he is a boy. I really like Riley as a middle name, but now am leaning more towards Ian. Seems like Riley is starting to be more of a girls name and is getting more popular.

Make sure you don't overdo it when you're friends come! Let them pamper you. I always try to go all out cooking and such when we have company, too, and sometimes it's just too much. My latest thing is just to marinate some meat and then put DH in charge of BBQing it. Then I make a big salad and pick up some crusty bread and call it a day. Simple and easy, and minimal cleanup. Too bad I can no longer enjoy the pitcher of frosty margaritas that would go with it.

It must be fun to watch things disappearing on your registry. Makes me rethink not doing it. I hope you have a good shower. I can't wait for mine. It will probably be in October or so. My best friends always plans really fun parties - she loves parties. So it should be good. We will probably have a couples one, as that's what we have done for all of our other friends in recent years.

I'm going to order that book, too. It will make great reading for DH on the head.

Just posting this in case you guys didn't see it on the PG:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Graco Children's Products Inc. has agreed to recall more than 1.1 million strollers because of a risk of collapsing, the U.S.
Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday.

The company is recalling approximately 1 million Duo Tandem and about 143,000 MetroLite strollers because they "fail to latch properly and unexpectedly collapse while in use," the CPSC said in a statement.

Graco has received reports of 529 stroller collapses, causing 264 injuries to children, including bumps, bruises, cuts and a broken arm, according to the CPSC. The company is a unit of Newell Rubbermaid Inc.

Duo Tandem strollers have two seats, and a blue, white or green frame. The MetroLite has a blue, gray or black frame, and a single cloth seat.

The strollers, made in China, were sold between January 1994, through December 2002, at various discount, department and children's product stores nationwide for between $80 and $200.

Included in the recall were certain Duo Tandem strollers with model numbers 7950, 7955, 7960, 7965, 7970, 7980 and 7990; and certain MetroLite strollers with model numbers 6610DW, 6110F3, 6111FKB, 6114HAV, 6114JAM, 6114NGS, 7410CON, 7413CML, and 7413MRN.

The CPSC said consumers should stop using the strollers and contact Exton, Pennsylvania-based Graco to receive a free repair kit. Graco can be reached at 1-800-981-4412, or at http://www.gracobab

Good suggestion on the meal planning, Kaillean. I'm going to use your suggestion for at least one of our meals. DH is usually happy to man the grill if I get it all ready for him.

Yeah, I'm kind of excited about the shower next weekend. I hate being the center of attention. But, I'm sure it will be fun. It is pretty cool to see things disappearing off of the registry. It seems like what I mostly need are clothes, and I didn't register for many of those, just some onesies & sleepers.

Okay, you kind of scared me on the Graco Stroller thing. We registered for the Graco Metrolite Travel System. Then, I read the announcement a little more carefully and realized that the recall is only for models produced between 2000-2001. Whew! Here is a link to the recall notice from Graco's web site: http://www.gracobaby.com/customerser...px?recallID=18

Are you & DH going out on the boat again this weekend? I am SO jealous! I told my DH about your boat and he said, "let's go up & go sailing with them!"

Jenn--Good to see you. I think Eleanor is a lovely name. We were considering it, but now when I think of girl names I am just like .

Grace--I loved that website. I'll have to check it out a bit more tonight. Simon is a nice name. We have a cat named Simon .

Mandy--I was thinking about you last night. I can't imagine what you are feeling right now. Happy, scared, tired, etc, etc. I am so, so glad Spencer is home and doing well. It really is a miracle .

Thanks to everyone with input on the underwear thing. I think I'll just buy some in the same size this weekend. I do need some bigger bras though

DH and I talked some more about the baby at lunch. He said I have definitely gone from just looking puffy to actually having a belly. I am really surprised that I am showing already (even if it just is to DH and me) but I guess it sort of makes since as I will be 11 weeks tomorrow. Just this week I can really tell a difference though.

I have enough energy to work out tonight .

Hey Girls,

Well my cramping is better today..and my hunger has actually been under a little more control today. I think i am just really worried about this hurricane. But it looks like we may actually be ok.

Now that my cramping is better I always wonder if the baby is ok. W/ the cramping I knew it was a normal first trimester thing. Well, for me it is...then when it stops I am like..well, am i still pregnant???

Take care everyone...sorry i dont have time for personals right now. I will try and catch up w/ that later.

Grace, sorry to freak you out about the stroller! The recall is maybe more applicable to moms who are using an older child's stuff or getting stuff given to them.

Don't worry about the clothes - I'm sure you will get a ton of little outfits at your shower, even if you didn't register for them.

No boating this weekend, unfortunately. Though we might have to go down and do some cleaning/maintenance to prepare for holidays. I also need to take a good inventory to see what supplies I need. Our partners are leaving in a week or two for their vacation, and then we will drive to meet them for our holiday, and they will bring our vehicle back to the city with all their stuff.

You'd certainly be welcome to come for a sail. We love taking out new people. Maybe you can come up in September for a nice fall sail, and be my guinea pig as to how I will manage a new baby on the boat.

Louise, I started showing about 11 or 12 weeks too. Maybe not obviously to everyone but certainly to me and DH and my best friend. I went for the maternity clothes early -- they're just way more comfy.

Sinnrah, glad you're feeling better. I only had crampiness in the very beginning. I know what you mean about worrying when you don't feel anything though. I'm so glad to have started feeling my little one, even if only rarely and faintly. It's good to know things are still okay in there.

I'm very impatiently waiting for the doctor's office to call me back with my triple screen results. I had it done last Tuesday, and it's only supposed to take a week. I suppose the long weekend screwed them up. I've been bugging my doctor's office since Wednesday, so today they FINALLY called the lab to see what's going on. Now they have the results, but won't tell me until the doc has looked at them. She's off at 4:30 and they've promised she'll call when she'd done. They are very unorganized in the office, though I love my doc. I feel like telling her she needs new front end staff. They drive me crazy. Anyway, keep your fingers crossed for me. I really don't want to have to have the amnio.
