LOSIN' THE BABY FAT - Thursday

Good Morning Mommies!!!

Chelsea.... Seriously, if there's anything I can do, don't hesitate to ask! I'm sending good thoughts your way.

Mandy!!!!!!!!!!! Hoping your absence means Spencer is home and keeping you busy :Hugs:

Well....2nd day on M/E Fast and still sitting at 269...which is fine as I'm having the TOM from you know where. I thought my doc said the minipill would lighten my TOM I must be unique

I claimed the 269...and with it....I now have lost over SEVENTY-ONE pounds!!! I never thought I'd make it to this point...let alone have the determination to lose seventy more! What a journey and I cannot wait to see what lies ahead of me.

Question regarding bumper pads...when did you take them off the crib? Elana's starting to pull at hers and getting them untied in the process.

Have a great Thursday ladies....only one more day to go!!!

Hi all,

Horrible what's happened in London...seems like Al Queada claimed it. *sigh*

I'm up a pound today, not sure why...

Hugs to Chels

Chelle, I'll echo your bumper question, I'm totally confused!

Hope everyone has a great day.

someone yesterday was talking about what to do with chicken--so, I thought I'd share a couple of great new recipes I've found:

I used boneless skinless breasts in this and it was excellent:

GRILLED LEMON CHICKEN

1 tablespoon finely grated fresh lemon zest
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 large egg
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1 (3 1/2-lb) chicken, cut into 8 serving pieces

Make marinade:
Combine all ingredients except chicken in a blender and blend until emulsified.
Prepare chicken:
Put chicken pieces in a nonreactive bowl or dish or a large sealable plastic bag. Add marinade and turn chicken once or twice to coat. Marinate, covered and chilled, at least 8 hours. Bring chicken to room temperature 30 minutes before grilling and discard marinade.
To cook chicken using a charcoal grill:
Open vents on bottom of grill and on lid. Light a large chimney starter of charcoal (80 to 100 briquettes). Leaving about one quarter of grill free of charcoal, bank lit charcoal across rest of grill so that coals are about 3 times higher on opposite side.
When charcoal turns grayish white (about 15 to 20 minutes) and you can hold your hand 5 inches above rack for 3 to 4 seconds, sear chicken on lightly oiled grill rack over coals, uncovered, turning occasionally, until browned, 4 to 8 minutes total. Move chicken to side of grill with no coals underneath and cook, covered with lid, turning occasionally, until just cooked through, about 12 minutes for wings, 18 to 20 minutes for breasts, and 20 to28 minutes for dark meat. Transfer chicken as cooked to a platter.
To cook chicken using a gas grill:
Preheat all burners on high, covered, 10 minutes, then adjust heat to moderately high. Sear chicken on lightly oiled grill rack, uncovered, turning over once, until well browned, 4 to 8 minutes total. Turn off 1 burner (middle burner if there are 3) and arrange chicken on rack above shut-off burner. Cook, covered with lid and turning over occasionally, until just cooked through, about 12 minutes for wings, 18 to 20 minutes for breasts, and 20 to 28 minutes for dark meat. Transfer chicken as cooked to a platter.
Cooks' notes:
• Chicken can be marinated up to 24 hours.
• If you aren't able to grill outdoors, chicken can be seared in batches in a hot well-seasoned ridged grill pan over moderately high heat, turning occasionally, 10 to 12 minutes. Transfer chicken as seared to a large baking pan and bake, skin sides up, in middle of a preheated 375°F oven until just cooked through, 20 to 25 minutes.

Makes 4 to 6 servings.

And, we had this last night--excellent low carb sauce!

LEMON CHICKEN AND ARTICHOKES WITH DILL SAUCE

2 lemons, halved
8 large artichokes
2/3 cup dry white wine
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1/3 cup olive oil
12 garlic cloves, minced
2 chickens (each about 3 3/4 pounds), giblets removed, each cut into 8 pieces
3 large egg yolks
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill

Squeeze juice from lemons into large pot of salted water. Add lemons. Trim artichokes and cut lengthwise into quarters; add to pot. Bring to boil over medium-high heat. Cover partially and boil until artichokes are tender, about 20 minutes. Drain. Using shears, cut 1/2 inch off tips of leaves. Scoop out choke. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cool. Wrap tightly in plastic and refrigerate.)
Preheat oven to 375°F. Whisk wine, lemon juice, oil, and garlic in large bowl to blend. Add chicken. Turn to coat. Let marinate 20 minutes. Remove chicken from marinade and arrange, skin side up, on large rimmed baking sheet. Reserve marinade. Bake chicken 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, add artichokes to marinade in large bowl and toss to coat. Let marinate 25 minutes.
Transfer artichokes to another large rimmed baking sheet; place in oven with chicken and bake 10 minutes. Pour marinade into saucepan and bring to boil. Baste chicken and artichokes with 1/3 of marinade. Continue baking until chicken is cooked through, about 15 minutes.
Using slotted spoon, transfer chicken and artichokes to platter; tent with foil.
Strain pan juices from baking sheets into 2-cup glass measuring cup. Transfer 1 1/4 cups pan juices to medium saucepan. Whisk in egg yolks. Whisk constantly over medium-high heat just until mixture boils and thickens, about 3 minutes. Stir in dill. Season sauce with salt and pepper.
Spoon some sauce over chicken and artichokes on platter. Serve, passing remaining sauce separately.

Makes 6 to 8 servings.

I believe around 6-9 months. When the babies start to move around and pull up more, they become a leverage for their foot to catch. I never worried about that w/my kids, though, and think Kendall still her hers. Sounds like Elana's done w/hers, though. LOL!

Anyone have a good recipe for ribs? I've done the crockpot and they're good, but we want more 'restauranty' ribs that are tender, but not falling off the bone, and that we can char a bit on the grill.

I generally marinate mine in Italian dressing overnight in the frig. The next day let the ribs "drain" for about 15 minutes to get most the dressing off, rub them with onion powder, garlic powder, and rib rub (by Durkee), cook them in the oven until done, slob them with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce and put them on the grill.....MMMMMM very very good!!!

I'm not sure what the problem is but I have just "trained" by DH to use the phone and I thought I "trained" Tyler's father but he doesn't listen to me that well!

Devidah-Meant to say you have a PM, also as far as DH goes...he will get over it...I would "remind" him what he did and let that go..he was just lucky she didn't bruise then. I once dropped Lexi when I was getting her out the shower and she had a cut on her head and I felt HORRIBLE...BUT DH never once mentioned it after I told him...I was hurt enough and I am sure your mother was too!

Hey, girls. Terrible news this morning, huh? I hope all our friends over there are okay.

Not much to report so far for me. In-laws should be in town any hour. woo. Can't you tell I'm excited?

Dierdre, I don't think we're going to have time to get together this time. We're going to get over there late instead of early, since we'll be going to a baseball game tomorrow night. And I have no clue what the in-laws plans are. Typical!

Chelsea, Can you PM me your address?

Menu today:
B- frittata, jasmine green tea
S- celery w/ cream cheese
L- chicken salad Yuck, I'll never make that again with canned chicken.
D- don't know yet, but certainly meat and veggie

Totals yesterday: 1369 cals/ 15 net carbs

Lexi and Tyler both have allergies... to Elliott because I have them too and I know how it feels..Poor Thing!! Try a clean, cold, white washrag to help with the swelling and redness. Tyler uses Alavert and it has helped him alot!

Dar- Andrew makes awesome chicken salad with the canned stuff. He puts green olives, onions, etc in it...best chicken salad I've ever had!

Okay, call me dumb, but I need to go surf the internet to find out what happened in London....I didn't hear anything on the radio on my way to work and nobody here is talking about anything....

Chelle- Sounds like it is time to take those off. We had to take Hunter off when he kept getting his head caught under them.

Hi to everyone else!!!!! Sorry, bad for personals today... ... trying to get some work done here at work.

Morning Girls!

Mandy~ Hope everything went okay yesterday & you have Spencer home with you.

Chels~ I am so sorry you are having a rough time. Please, please let me know if I can do anything for you.

Chelle~ Yay for passing that 70-lb mark! You are so, so awesome! On the bumper pads, I don't quite remember when we removed them, but I think it may have been when we moved (just never put them back on the crib), which was when she was 11 months old. Hope you have a good work-day!

Martha~ The recipes sound great! I'm cut-&-pasting them & keeping them!

Dena~ Good morning!

Liz~ Silly girl, forgetting to weigh (I did the same thing yesterday, except I remembered after I had already ate. ) I bet you see a loss tomorrow!

Cyn~ I'm sure he's fine, but keeping him in my ! Doesn't he know not to worry the Mommy? Were they driving to Paris & Holland or taking the train? You may have said so before, but what part of Germany was he going to be staying in?

Colleen~ I meant to respond to you yesterday, but it got away from me. Accidents can happen to kids in the presence of anyone!

Lauren~ Hi! How'd Kendall do this morning at drop-off?

So, I haven't weighed this morning yet, I've been glued to the news. This just makes me sick, I feel for those poor people.

I'll BBL with today's weigh-in & my menu for the day.
