Morning all! Aunt Flo is rearing her ugly head and I don't like it! I'm a week early so don't know what that's gonna do about Ovulation now..I wish she'd be good! LOL

Amy~How's your bum hon? I've been there and it SUX!!!! I've gotten the shakes before from being constipated when pregnant. But trust me, once it starts.....whooooaaaa nelllyyyyyy....you should find a good book now for potty time!

Amy--It sounds like the counselor is going to work out well for you. Are you staying home near the bathroom this weekend? I hope you find some comfort soon.


Well, we told my Mom last night. She was so excited. I was totally shocked. She also told me more about her pregnancies (I have a younger brother). We were both conceived the month after she went off the pill. I told her about charting and she was like . She told me she had really easy labors both times, and that the doctor told her that her pelvis was made for having babies. So hopefully I'll have a really easy time too. She did it naturally both times and I plan on doing the same. She told me breast feeding went really well for both of us. So well, in fact that she said all she'd have to do was undo the flap on her nursing bra and the milk would just start shooting out once the cold air hit her boob. She did a little demonstration on how to quickly get the bra opened and the baby latched on quickly and it was so funny. She said the first time milk came shooting out on its own, she and my Dad laughed for an hour . I am so glad to hear that she had an easy time with both labor and breastfeeding. Hopefully I'll be the same way.

I called my Papaw last night (Mom's Dad) and he was really surprised and happy. This child will be great grandchild #4 for him.

Now we are heading to Richmond to see DH's family and tell them. I'll probably check back in tonight.

Hey Ladies! Hope you are all well.

Smiley-sorry about the constipation issues. I don't understand why they don't up your iron? Did you know that too much iron causes diarrehea?? With baby #2 I went in at mo 7 with major constipation and they put me on an overdose of iron (my iron levels were low anyway) Milk of magnesia might help you out. Just be careful because this pregnancy I was about "3 days behind." Anything I took worked 3 days later...so don't try too many things at once!

BFing isn't going well. I have been feeding Luke bottles except for 1-2 times a day. I'm pumping and feeding him half and half bottles but they don't stick with him long. I might just try feeding him straight breastmilk during day and formula at night. He has been waking up every 2 hrs to eat during the night.

Heather123-I have had trouble nursing him in the middle of the night since the start. Even if I feed him every 2-3 hrs I get engorged and he can't latch and we spend 20 min trying to latch. I really don't want to get up and pump to relieve the engorgment and then feed him. I think a big part of the problem is that I don't get any rest during the day and am drained. I'm not making milk during the day like I am at night. He is still getting about 20 oz of breast milk a day so.

Hey everyone, mind if you join your little group?? I faound out about 2 weeks ago that I am pregnant, and nee to know everything I can about LCing while pregnant. I have worked SO hard this last year and cant stand the thought of gaining it all back!! My fiance and I are so excited about the baby, but I definately need some guidelines. Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Hi Brandy! The general rule of thumb is move to maintance (sp?) levels. You don't want to be in ketosis at all. Many people have tried to do that and not been to successful (me included!), but we have several here that have been doing a great job with it.

I gained everything back that I lost (45 pounds) during my pregnancy, but I blame all but 20 pounds of it on 10 weeks of intense hospital bedrest!

Brandy! Welcome!!! You will find more advice next week when more mommies to be are back. I didn't LC while PG but only gained 25 lbs and 2 weeks later am 4 lbs from prepreg weight. I ate McDonalds and twinkies. LOL Kaillean and Ketosisgirl(Grace) and I believe maybe Louise are all doing LC while PG. I was so sick the first 4 mos I lived on Gatorade and Mac n cheese. Kaillean suggested eating more protein to combat nausea. Congrats!!

Becca ~ Sorry the BF isn't going as well as you had hoped. But you will find something that works for you both. That is funny...when I was told to take the iron twice a day on top of my prenatal, they told me that it might constipate me - not the reverse.

Brandy ~ Welcome and Congratulations!! Can't help you much with the LCing while pregnant. I had already fallen off the wagon by the time I got pregnant.

Mandy ~ Hi!

Grace ~ You'll get the nurserydone...we already had a cleared out room, so it was just a matter of getting things in there. Plus I am WAY to picky and needed to have that room set up ASAP. I was to tired of looking at everything just sitting there.

Chelsea ~ I just keep calling them Bubbles on my A$$. LOL

Well, turns out that the "mild laxative" that the nurse told me I could take was just a stool softener...what I am already taking. So, I just have been taking two before bed. I think it seems to be working. Cross your fingers!

Well, the nursery is all set up!!! The only thing missing are curtains and some wall decorations! As soon as we get all the trash out of there, I will take some picutres. I think I mentioned yesterday that my mother is going to order those unfinished wooden letters for us to pain and it will spell out Sara Elizabeth on the wall.

Well, I am going to get going. I'll probably pop on tomorrow.

Hey everyone! I finally got around to writing my birth story...here it goes!!

We were at our friend's house Sunday all day just hanging out and I started to have slight contractions pretty much all afternoon. I had been having them on and off since Thursday, so I wasn't going to get toooo excited, but then they started to get worse. We ate dinner with them and by this time I couldn't really talk through the contractions. So after dinner we came home (around 6:30pm). My contractions continued to get closer, stronger, and longer as DH timed them and wrote them down. Around 9pm, I called the hospital to see if they thought that I should come in. They told me that usually with a first-time Mom, they wait until contractions are closer to 2-3 minutes apart. They told me to give it some time and come in when it gets to that point. So I paced the entire first floor of our house a hundred times and finally at 11pm, the contractions were SO strong that I couldn't stand it any longer. I told DH to pack up the car, we're going to the hospital!! He dropped me off at the Patient Receiving Unit and while he parked the car, they checked me in. I could tell that the nurse either didn't believe that my contractions were that close together or she didn't think it would be possible that I would be dilated enough to be admitted. They took me up to the triage unit where they strapped all the monitors onto me. They laid me on my side in the bed which was extremely uncomfortable through the contractions. After the nurse left, I felt like I was leaking some urine, so I called her back. She got one of those pads for the bed and when I lifted up my hips for her to slide it under me, I heard a little pop and WHAM...my water broke! She said, "Oh, there's your ticket to the other side! We're admitting you now." So a medical student came in and checked me and low and behold...I was already dilated to 6 cm! I was so proud of myself that I labored at home that whole time!! Anyway, so they admitted me and brought me into my birthing room. They hooked me up to all of the monitors again and ordered my epidural. Just minutes after receiving the epidural, they noticed that the baby's heartrate began to drop, so they had me get on all fours in the bed (not an easy feat when your lower body is half numb!) to relieve the pressure off of the baby. His heartrate became more stable, but then with every contraction would get slower again. They gave me something which was supposed to slow them, but actually stopped my contractions for a little while. They checked me a couple of hours later and I had not progressed further at all, so then they started the pitocin. On a small dose, the baby was fine, if I stayed laying on my right side only. Everytime I moved, his heartrate would drop again. They guessed that the cord might be getting in his way when I would move to another position. So because I couldn't move, the epidural began to only medicate one side of my body. I was able to feel the contractions and pressure on my left side, while my right side was as dead as a log!! Eventually one of the doctors came in and checked me again and I was finally fully dilated. They wanted me to let the baby labor down a bit before pushing though. I began to push at around 11am. The doctor informed me that due to the stress that the baby was under, they were only going to let me push for one hour. If the baby wouldn't come out at that time, they would have to do a C-Section (eeek!). Well, I pushed SOOOO hard knowing that surgery was now an option. At the end of my hour of pushing, the baby was ready to be born, but they guessed that his position was a bit weird, so they wanted to do one of three things: forceps, vaccum, or c-section. They took me out of my birthing room and into the surgical delivery room just in case they would have to do an emergency c-section. In the meantime, before moving me, they gave my DH scrubs to change into. While he was in the bathroom changing, they wheeled me away in my bed. When he came out of the bathroom, everyone and everything was GONE! He was SO scared!! He eventually found me though!

They got me set up to push so that they could try to use the forceps first. I pushed on two contractions, they used the forceps, and he was born at 12:13pm on Monday, 6/27 without any problems. Well, except for this 3rd degree tear that he left me! OUCH!!

It is funny how now that he is born, everyone asks me, "So, wanna have another one now??" Geez, let me recover first!! Haha. I do have to say though that the labor wasn't the worst part at all. My first bm post-delivery was!! Oh my, I thought I was going to DIE! I had no idea that it would be so horrible!! I had taken stool softeners and fiber and it was STILL awful! I would give birth to 20 kids over having that horrible experience again!!

I am still quite sore, though am getting better everyday. We are finally getting used to this new sleeping schedule and having this new little person around. It is such a blessing, I never knew I could be so in love!
