Baby Fever Club... TTC for week of: 6/27-7/3

Ok I first off want to highly reccomend the pregnancy thread already in this section because they ladies are GREAT and there are many moms (including me) on there TTC.

But alas I thought it might be nice to have a thread a little more specialized for those of us trying to lose and get healthier before baby!

I will keep this a weekly thread and I will see if anyone has any interest!

A little intro. My name is Angela. I have two boys (12 & 3). I am a homeschooling WAHM. I used to run the "Nummies" thread on breastfeeding here on LCFBB awhile ago if you remember that!

And I have the "fever"!

But I am trying to "control" myself and lose more and get healthier because I have had two high risk pregnancies. And I am sure this would end up being my very last baby.

So please feel free to intro yourself and I will start a list at the top of names and what number you are trying for and post it next week! Each week I will update it!

Look forward to sharing the "club" with you!

Hope you don't mind me popping in here...already pregnant...but wanted to say yeah for you for starting a TTC thread. I know when I was TTC, no matter how helpful the already pregnant ladies were, there was always a part of me that felt left out and longed to be able to rant and rave about the woes of TTC with other women TTC.

Keep popping into the pregnancy thread...but good luck with this one too. Great idea!!

Good Idea, Luna! I started a TTC thread back when I was, but the boards weren't organized like they are and it didn't work (too hard to find!).

As always, feel free to pop in the pregnancy thread or baby fat thread for questions, too!

No problem Amy! I was hoping no one would get mad!

I just thought it would be nice for the moms that are almost at TTC and still want to lose a bit first... we are in a "weird" category!!!!

Oh, duh! Trying to conceive! Yes, I am recovering from PCOS as in, since LC, my weight gain and anovuluation has reversed itself. I would like to get pregnant but also think it would be a lot easier if I weighed a lot less.

Hi everyone!

This is a fantastic idea! My main motivation for losing this weight is so I will have a healthy pregnancy. Oh yeah, my name is Erin and I have a 2 year old daughter. My husband and I would like to start TTC this fall. I would like to lose about 30 pounds so if we start TTC in early October, I think that goal is totally obtainable.

Anyway, I am really looking forward to getting to know more of you better thru this group!

I posted this over on the preggie thread:

Quote:
My 1st pregnancy I started at 104lbs and gave birth at 156lbs. I gained almost all of that the last two months. I was on bedrest and alot of meds because I had serious pre term problems and infections.

After ALL that my son came two weeks AFTER my due date. I did go into labor on my own but then had to be helped at the hospital. My son was 9.2 pounds and 21 1/2 inches. I got him out but tore very badly.
I shall spare the rest of the details of that birth because it would freak you all out. It goes down in history as a "what CAN go wrong" scenerio.

Fast forward to my second. Again another high risk pregnancy with pre term problems. Had to take meds to keep him in too. THAT dang baby decided AFTER all that he would NOT come out on time either. I had a scheduled c-section because of my previous birth experiance. I had just lost weight on Atkins and was at 180lbs and gave birth at 217lbs. This son was 10.9lbs and 22 inches. And one last thought... I would NOT have gained that last 15 pounds while pregnant IF I had NOT given into the call of licorrice all night long those last two months. Sabotaged by sugar!

I am hovering right around the 200 mark and would like to get down as much as I can. Very hard when your damn body is screaming NOOOOOW!!!!

I do not have normal periods and have not in years. Charting has never helped me before.

But I am keeping track again just to make sure I know when "it" happens. I also purchased some OPK tests off ebay and will give them a try for the very first time, just to attempt the whole charting thing once more.

I am going to "try" to hold off for another month to three months if I can... but we shall see how well that goes!

it might be nice to NOT have any morning sickness during the peak of summer!

Okay well I don't know if I even belong here... Yes I have been "wanting" another baby......but not sure if it is the right thing to do. Fortunately I have been up till now a "fertile Myrtle", So I don't see us having any problem conceiving. I would love to be thinner yes and really watch my diet and get more exercise than the last 3 kids.

Here is a bit about me quick.......
My name is Melissa, I am 38 1/2 yrs old.....I am a SAHM of 3 kids DD 11 1/2, DS 5, DD 23 months. Right now I am using the Ortho Evra BC patch....I like it cause i don't have to think about it....but I sure would love to have one more baby, make it an even 4 and then have my tubes tied after the baby is born.
Like I said I don't even know if I belong here or not....because I am not ACTIVELY TTC.....but I sure have the fever for another little one in the house... I miss breast feeding, and all the neat stuff that comes with babies.....I wonder if it is just hormonal or if the fact that my youngest will be 2 soon, and she is already expressing an interest in potty training.... and is becoming more independant lately.... Who KNows.... I just think of the money it will take.....We just bought a new home... so we have a mortgage payment now..... and.... if we had another baby we would need a bigger vehicle, actually a 2nd vehicle would be in order I think... a Van this time as we just fit all 5 of us in the car we have now. So many factors....so many things to consider. Am I just crazy? Should I just be grateful for what I have and be done? My DH's dad and step mom have pretty much quit talking to us cause they think we shouldn't have had our 3rd child being as we are almost always financially strapped.....I just don't know what to do.
Sorry for ranting and venting like this.....just dont' know what to do. Thanks for listening.
Good luck to all of you who are TTC

Me too! Me too!

My husband (35 yrs old) and I (29 yrs old) have been TTC since January. I was diagnosed with PCOS several years ago, but it hasn't been an "issue" because I was on the pill until this year. So I stop the pill and my OBGYN puts me on metformin and clomid to help me ovulate. This month was the first time since January that I ovulated, but no luck conceiving. I have a sneaking suspicion that my weight is going to play into all of this as well. So, here I am.

TTC has turned into a silent science experiment for me. Charting temps, using the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor (highly recommend!), taking meds, etc. is kind of taking all the fun out of things. I try to keep all of this from my DH because it's overwhelming for him and honestly, I don't know if he understands everything to begin with. The last thing I want to do is turn baby-making into a chore for him as well.

But, one question I do have is this. I'm 67lbs away from my goal weight of 145. If I end up losing 20lbs and then conceive, should I shy away from the low carb lifestyle during pregnancy? Has anyone has experience with this? Obviously once the baby is born I would start back up to lose the weight, but I'm not sure if lc-ing will provide all the nutrients necessary.

I wouldn't shy away from the low carb lifestyle if you don't have to. Eating low carb is very nutrient dense, especially if you eat lots of veggies and lower carb fruits. Unfortunately, if you get morning sickness it may not be easy to stick to low carb as I found out. I gained 10 pounds that first month even though I was throwing up daily, because I could only stomach the carbs. The thought of or smell of meat was enough to make me . I bet if I could have stayed lower carb (i.e. Atkins Maintainence) I wouldn't have gained 45 pounds during my pregnancy.

Ok, you can add me to the list too. Although, I will probably lurk for the most part since I will not be TTC till next spring. I'm not really actively losing weight either since I've had some leg cramp issues when I cut my calories and/or carbs too low since I've been breastfeeding. I'm only about 10 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight....so if I lose a pound a month that'd be cool. I've lost about 10 pounds after my initial postpartum loss without trying so I'll just keep plugging along.

Anyway, I'll chime in when it is helpful and lurk otherwise, OK?

Ames

Howdy all! Mornings are quieter for me so I can post, the rest of the day I lurk.

Well, as you can guess, my name is Jennifer and I live in West Virginia. I'm 33 and my DH is 35. I have an 11 year old (going on 17) daughter, Celeste, and an 8 year old son, Alex. Both times I was able to concieve first try, hope I'm that lucky this time.

I was ovulating 06-19 thru 06-21 and I'm going to the doctor this afternoon for a general check-up. I read in my "What to Expect When Your Expecting" that a blood test now will tell me if I'm pregnant. I've gone through 4 pee stick tests (yes, yes I know it's too early) because every time I squat to pee at home my DH shoves one at me.

To the women who are trying to lose weight before they conceive, or who are waiting for any other reason...OMG! How can you do it? I'm IMPATIENT as HECK!

DO NOT deviate from LOW CARB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was doing JUST fine during my last pregnancy until those DAMN red liccorice sticks called my name. Gained like 15-20 pounds last minute. Ofcourse when you eat them 24/7 and keep them next to your bed and eat them again in the middle of the night.

There is ZERO reason to NOT just eat good and whole healthy foods. Humans dont need sugar or wheat to live.

If we did and if touching ketosis while pregnant and nursing deforemed every kid........

How do we survive as the human race? Truly think on that!

Hi Everyone - I am also not sure if I'm in the TTC camp with both feet but...well, maybe it's a pre-fever .

I'm a mom to four children through international adoption - so while I'm a mom to four (blessed beyond words with my fabulous kids ) I've not experienced a pregnancy. And that's always been okay with me until lately. I'm just not sure if it's my age (37) and knowing that I'm running out of time or what but I've been feeling the pull towards at least ttc.

From the time I was a little girl I always knew I'd adopt my kids from overseas - I'm talking like 6 or 7 years old. So I know it was meant to be . I never really thought about being pregnant or giving birth. So these are all really new thoughts to me. We have two daughters - 8 and almost 6 - and my twin sons are going to turn 3 years old in a few weeks. We're also in the process of doing the paperwork to adopt one last time so I'll have my five children I've always wanted. Except, greedy wench I am, I now think I want six .

So there's more than anyone wanted to know I'm sure . I have been low carbing since Jan of 2004 and LOVE it. I feel the best I've ever felt. I've not lost tons of weight on the scale but I've gone from a size 26/28 to a 14/16 on top and 16/18 on the bottom - yeah!!!! Even better I am happier, less moody, have more energy and that yucky borderline depression seems to have disappeared thank heavens. I do have PCOS and - best of all - my cycles have been regular for the first time in my adult life. So since January I've been cycling monthly - major progress for me.

I have an RE appt. in early September and we now have some great insurance that covers some infertility stuff. So the only reason I'm hesitating is because...well, haven't figured that out yet!

Thanks for letting me share all that - I don't want to talk to my family about this and dh doesn't want me disappointed so I'm not telling him about the fact I'm all over the palce about ttc. Luna - so glad you started this!

Caroline

Hey Everyone,

Just doing a quick driveby...

I'm past my fertile period for this month and now have to wait until Friday, July 8th to see if I miss my period. This will be our third month of trying.

Quick question....

It seems like so many of you got pregnant on the first try. Did it take any of you a while to get pregnant? If so, about how long. I'm starting to get impatient and stressed (yeah, I know it could take up to a year).

Thanks!
