WOE: Whatever gets this baby weight off!
Start Date: Who the heck knows...
*~*~*~Losin' The Baby Fat - Magnificent Monday~*~*~

DENA - I hear ya... I'm there right now too. I've always been a little heavy, but never like this. I gained almost 60 with Allison, and got that off plus some (it took a year and a half, but anyway)... Over time I'd gain and lose, but never go too much over 180. (I think my highest was 185ish) Then I started Atkins, and actually saw 169 for a brief second. WOO HOO! Then Christmas came. UGH... And it was steady after that.

Then when I got pregnant with Anna, I was at 180... Gained 45... Not so bad. BUT, this time around, I got pregnant at 200 pounds. I even stopped weighing. I would just make up a weight to give to the midwife. I wasn't forced to see what I was gaining. I'm pretty sure I was at 260 or more. I finally got the courage to weigh a couple weeks after he was born and it was 238.

I can't fit in any of my clothes, and forced myself to buy one outfit for church. I'm still basically in maternity for most everything else. With Anna, I let the fact that I was nursing get in the way of dieting, but not this time.

There are lots of ladies here who have been in your shoes. That's why I love coming here. We're all losing this weight together!

CHELLE - OMGOSH! I love that picture of Elana and Knowles!!!

Man, it was a messy day... Ezra went through 4 outfits... It might just be in my head, but it seems that whenever I have a caffeinated coffee, he spits up bad for a couple of days. I thought that caffeine would just keep him awake if I drank it too late in the day, but once I stopped, he stopped spitting up almost altogether. Well, I indulged yesterday, and BAM... Spitting up again. It has to be it.

Well, I'm off to bed now!

Just a quick post as lil one is awaking and we're dealing with a flea issue.... This is just one of the many reasons I hate Florida!!!

Officially starting the Meat/Egg fast today at 278 lbs. So we'll see where I land on Friday! Payday tomorrow and my tennies are on sale so will finally get my new workout shoes (dog chewed back of others).

Reposting the pic of Knowles and Elana.....I fall in love with both of them everytime I see it

Have a great day Mommies!!!!!!!!!!

Dena.....I just finished catching up on last nights posts . It took so much courage to write what you did. I can relate so well as I started this LC journey at 340 and in the midst of finally feeling I could "do it", got pregnant. I had no idea where I was going to land on the scale when it was all over. But I reminded myself, it was up to only me to make the decision and the dedication to get healthy. Is 100+ lbs. overwhelming to imagine losing? Sure it is...but I take them 10 lbs. at a time...and you'll be amazed how quickly the number gets bigger and bigger. I sit in awe at times that only 18 months and a baby ago, I was 60+ lbs. heavier. It can be done...you just have to want it...and want it for you. It's very hard to get motivated...and often I find that I'll get stuck in a rut or a thousand excuses until I finally do something (i.e. meat/egg fast this week) and the motivation falls into place when I see those first few pounds gone. Then I have the mindset of "why stop if I'm losing??" and I become addicted to the program/working out.

I'm here for ya hon....I've come a long way, and have a long way to go...so I understand you feeling the frustration of the numbers. But you'll be shocked how good you'll feel when the first 10 are gone!

Okay ladies...not much time to chat at all sorry. Will be MIA all week due to END of Month and I'm taking off for the funeral on Wednesday.

BUT...

Chels- What did you say that would have offended someone??? I'm LOST!!!??? Anyways no problem here, missed ya this weekend!! How is the sleeping going?

Kristen- OMG to you and your dad! I will be praying for you guys! I HATE to hear things like this and I feel so sad for what your father and your family is going thru...death is such an unexpected thing and suicide is sometimes worst because it's like the person took God's power away and that is probably why you have so much different emotions about it...BUT STAY STRONG AND WE ARE HERE...!!!

Chelle- GREAt B&W photo. I loved it!

Darlene- OH what a great new "toy" for Alison, I loved her crib photos

Emily-Howdy!! I know you are enjoying having your little one home again!! Tyler is leaving NC today...so you didn't get a Tyler sighting, LOL!!!

KJen- I emailed Joy and asked her what she was doing that week. I know we might also travel to Kissemmee (sp) but I'm waiting on my Brother and his Girlfriend to decide what they want to do...

Tracy- Howdy, hope you had a great weekend!

Vanessa- Yes Lexi generally sleeps 12 hours no matter what time I put her to bed, BUT she only takes one 2-3 hour nap during the day and that's it!!! She has always been a great sleeper!! JUST LIKE HER MOMMA!!

Nyac-Yeah, a schedule is important. You have to have a set routine and the child will become use to the idea of getting ready for bed...My routine is very similar to KJEN's.

Melissa, Jefinner, - Howdy!!

Okay gotta go for a while...work to do work to do!!!!

Cynthia

Dena- That took a lot for you to post that... (((HUGS))) Right before joining this group, I was going thru an awful time regarding what the scale said. I worked so, so hard to go from 222 to 169 and I still wasn't at goal. I "fell off" the wagon around the time I hit 169 (company convention, etc), so I was about 179 when I got pregnant with Hunter. At my 6 week post-pardem I was 186 and even now at my current weight I get very, very mad at myself for ever letting myself eat back up to 215. You can PM Andrew to verify, but even now at 194 about once a week I look in the closet and just start to cry over what I let myself do. Both Andrew and I find comfort when there are issues in food, and with his job situation, there have been many nights pre-LC restart that we "enjoyed" ourselves. I know this is horrible to say, but I don't think I'll be happy with myself until I see the 186.

Chelle- I LOVE THAT PICTURE!!!!

Cyn- Hope your EOM isn't too bad!

Jenn- OMG, 4 outfits!!!

Oh well, I'll be sporatic today, I am only working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and then am off until next Wednesday, so I need to get a butt-load of stuff done. I'll peak in though, you know me :-)

Day with the MIL was actually pleasant (usually is NOT). I guess she is getting a little annoyed with my SIL, she is over every single day with the baby and just expects the MIL to take care of her when she is home. My MIL is a nurse at the "before/after school" program at the local school system. So, a typical day is 7-10 and then 2-6 during the school year which just let outs...so she would run home during the middle and have to take care of a baby. I feel bad for the baby, but my SIL is just going to have to figure out how to take care of her by herself (Sarah is 7.5 weeks old).

B- LC Poppysead muffin
L- Salad (romaine/tomato/CarbSmart Olive Oil SD), Wings, Slice of LC Cheesecake (Hazelnut flavor)
D- Gosh, who knows...maybe some leftover American Chop Suey

Quick update before my crazy Monday gets in full swing.

I didn't nurse Murphy until 2:30am. He woke me up at 11:30pm (again) so I went in and put the paci in his mouth and his eyes were open . I ran out very fast and that he would go back to sleep. He did !!! I woke up a lot, but I think that will be normal for me until I accept that he might actually be on a new pattern.

So he nursed at 2:30 and 5am. I don't count the 5am as a nighttime nursing because I usually nurse him before work between 5 - 6am.

I am starting to become convinced that he was hungry when he was nursing all night long. Apparently if he's not hungry he can put himself back to sleep fine. Both Saturday and Sunday I made a huge effort to get more food in him. It was hard because he doesn't cry to eat much anymore and I feel like I am feeding him every hour. But it is paying off!

Melissa~I know you posted Hunter's eating schedule. Would you repost it? I am just curious how close it is to Murphy's new eating plan.

Dena~ You can do it. I eat for comfort also (that's why I'm here) so I understand how hard it is to break that habit and let go of that crutch.

Morning All!

Well, I'm up & both of my kids are still sleeping! Reilly got up around 6am to eat, but went right back to sleep & Mackenzie is worn slam out from her trip, so she'll probably sleep late this morning. I had to get up to call the dealership about my truck. (Long story short, we picked it up from the service dept on Friday afternoon after they had it for 2 days, got home, & around 7pm I noticed a puddle of fluid under the rear axle, which is where they had been working. Called the dealer Saturday morning & they sent a tow truck out for it, so the dealer has had it again since Saturday morning.) So, I called early this morning, got voice mail , & left a message, so now I'm waiting for a call-back. I am SO MAD about this, I've only had the thing since April & this is it's 4th trip back to the service department!

But anyway, on to better things:

Chelle~ Just wanted to tell you again what an awesomely beautiful picture that is!

Cyn~ Hope Tyler has a safe flight & has a wonderful time in Germany!

Jefinner~ Your story sounds similar to mine. How odd about the coffee...maybe try decaf?

Melissa~ Glad you had a good visit with the MIL! What sauce did you end up using?

KJen~ Yay Murphy! I hope he continues with his "new" schedule!

Okay, I'm going to try to get a few things done before my kiddos wake up. I'll BBS to check in. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Morning, girls!

Chelle, I love that pic! to you just because. You are doing so great, even with all the stress in your life.

Emily, remember how I was PM'ing you complaining about Alison snacking and only eating a few ounces many times a day? Well, last week she started eating 5 ounces. Suddenly, she's demanding 5 1/2! And the number of feedings has decreased dramatically. We can now set our watch to them.. thank God! Sorry about the truck. Been there!

And ladies, how many ounces of formula/breastmilk do/did your babies eat max per feeding?

Jen! Hoping the trend continues.

Jenn, sorry about the spitting up. We've had many many days like that. Too bad it's the caffiene.

Hey, Melissa & Cyn! I started reading that book last night, Melissa, to get me geared up. Woo! I was so sad to read the author lost her baby at 13 weeks old.

Dena, I agree with everyone that it takes guts to post what you did, and what a great first step! (baby steps.. baby steps..) Two things that have been a HUGE help to me are 1) my siggy and 2) posting my menu and stats here and on my SNARK challenge. I don't know if anyone pays much attention, but I've posted them for the world to see. AND, I'm honest. Like I had cool whip last night. Not exactly low carb (but at least it's not ice cream ). And having my goals out there for everyone to see keeps me on track.

Make short term goals for yourself, like Chelle suggested. 5 pounds or 10 pounds at a time. Or just make a goal of allowing yourself a certain amount of cheats, or so many carbs, or whatever plan you want to follow... instead of a goal on the scale.

That being said, here's the plan for today:
B- hb egg
S- hb egg or string cheese
L- broccoli (aka "crack") slaw
D- chicken w/ havarti cheese, veggie, salad
S- sf jello

Totals: 1326 cals, 15 net carbs

Alison wet through her diaper last night... the second night in a row. She slept 9 hours (again!), and was soaked. I'm surprised it didn't wake her, considering she HATES to have a wet diaper during the day. Currently we're using the Huggies we got from Sam's and I hate them. I think during the night, I'll put her in the Pampers I have. I think they have a better waistband (she's not wearing them right now while we go through the Huggies.. the Pampers are a bit larger). Anyone have a better suggestion?

Dar- You might need to move her into a larger size diaper? I know Hunter just started to wet thru at night and we moved him into sz 4 and we are in the gold now. We are finishing up the 3's during the day.

Gosh, I hope not.. I have a ton of these left! LOL! They are supposed to fit up to 15 pounds, and we weighed her at 12.5 the other day.

Really, they are not too small. I think it's because they are the cheapo Huggies instead of the "supreme" and they just got too full.

Dar~ We have had a similar problem with Huggies - to me, they just feel "wet" on the outside, even if they're not over-full. Add to that Reilly's super sensitive skin, & the only diaper that we've found to work for him (& we've tried lots of them) is the Target brand. On the formula, Reilly's steadily taking 6oz at each feeding & usually eats 5 times a day (he's a chunky little guy! ) Alison either may be hitting a growth spurt, or she's filling herself up during the day in order to sleep longer at night. Reilly's been sleeping really good at night; he usually goes to bed around 9-10 pm & sleeps until 6-7 am, eats then, & goes back to sleep until around 10am. *Keeping fingers crossed* that this pattern continues!

In the interest of accountability, on the weight front, the scale showed me up 2.4 lbs today! I'm attributing it to the TOM from he!! (my first since Reilly.) Anyway, I am definatly "copy-catting" Chelle & trying the meat/egg fast this week (I'm boiling eggs as I type.) I have just got to do something to get myself going.

Menu for today:
B'Fast - 4 Slices Bacon
Lunch - HB Eggs
Dinner - Grilled Steak

That's Alison's schedule, too! Woo! I think she had a growth spurt, and now WE are finally catching up to her! Fortunately, I bought more 8 oz bottles the other day and put all the 4 ouncers away. We had been giving her 4 1/2 (the max the 4 1/2 oz. bottles will hold), and thinking she was full, stopped there. Now, we're offering more since we have the bigger bottles, and she's probably thinking, "it's about time!"

I use Huggies and was having leaks occasionally. I found when I made the sides meet, not counting the stretchy part, I had less leaks. I had to teach DH how to do it as well. So far so good. I tried a Pampers diaper I got in the mail, but the sides didn't meet any easier so I am staying with Huggies unless we have anymore problems.

I really think every kids shape is different, so different diapers work better for different babies. I loved LUVs newborns because they had the belly button cut out, but hated the bigger ones.

I think KJen is right, each child is so different. Huggies Body Shape brand fits Hunter the best, but maybe because is is long and lean.

KJen- This is what Hunter is doing for eating now.
8:30AM Breakfast and 7 oz Milk
10:30- 7oz Milk
2:30- Lunch and 7 oz Milk
5:00- 7 oz Milk
7:30'ish- 7 oz Milk

Somedays he will have more than 7oz each time, but sometimes not.

The Huggies Supreme baby shaped ones work great. But, we got this case at Sam's, and it's like a lower quality Huggies or something. It's only happened twice now, and yesterday it was due to my crappy job of putting on the diaper (she was fussing and kicking when I did). I guess now I know these have a limit! Like I said, I'll try the Pampers tonight and see if it holds better, since it's a bit stretchier and might fit better. I know the diapers fit.. the tabs practically meet in the front!

Oh! And I'm also adding some green tea to my diet.. Chrissy said it helps up your metabolism. I'm not sure if you can drink it while BF'ing , but wondering if anyone else here drinks it regularly. Right now I'm drinking a Jasmine green tea. Very yummy. Not as strong as I like my regular tea, but a nice change.

Melissa- Just jumping in...Not trying to be critical...but just wanted to tell you, that Lexi's pediatrician said she shouldn't get more than 24 ounces of milk per day because she needs to get nutrients from other things...I didn't know if your ped. told you that. Is that whole milk or Breast milk? Don't think I'm trying to be mean...just informative!!

Lexi's schedule goes like this
B- one bowl of oatmeal and milk in oatmeal to cool down, 4 ounces of milk
S- 1/2 banana, 4 ounces of juice (apple/or grape)
L- some veggie, other 1/2 of banana, 4 ounces of milk
S- veggie crackers, and yogurt, or SF pudding, 4 ounces of milk
D- meat, veggie, 6 ounces of milk
S- sometimes 4 ounces of milk, small jar of some veggie

Cyn- Hunter's pediatrician told us that the amount of milk he is having is fine because he asks for it. We do give him snacks, I should have added that. He also only gets his milk after he eats his solid food, which is a TON right now, so it isn't like he is tanking up on milk and not his solids. (And, no you are not being critical!)

For example: Yesterday

B- 2 normal sized whole wheat blueberry pancakes, 7 oz milk
S- Just wanted milk
L- Hot Dog, Veggie Crackers, 7 oz milk
S- Slice of LC Cheesecake, 7 oz milk
D- Pasta with ground beef, sauce, veggies, 7 oz milk
Bedtime- 7 oz milk

I love it, & I drank a lot of green tea when I was trying to get pregnant because I read that it could help with fertility (I was a supplement-taking, temperature-taking, charting fool! ) I have seen a lot where it also helps with metabolism, but I haven't gotten back into drinking it again.

I haven't been posting lately but I lurk on here every day. I really feel for you, Dena, as I'm the same way. I feel like I could have written your post. When I joined a couple weeks ago you all made me feel welcome but somehow I feel I'm not 'worthy' of being in this group because you all are losing weight and I'm just marching in place. Add to that all the crap I have going on in my life right now and sometimes it's just overwhelming. Both my dad and my favorite aunt were hospitalized last week, she with malignant cancer but his was benign, thank God, and add to that the stress of dealing with my DH's psycho ex and I can't take it. I eat out of stress, out of boredom, heck I eat because I can!
Oh, and if all that doesn't make me feel good - I got asked the other day if my baby was my grandbaby!!

I want so bad to lose this weight but there's something lacking in me right now making me unable to get it in my head like I did the first time around. How do I get that desire back? I know I should just take one day at a time, but when I'm faced with the fact that I need to lose 80 pounds it's overwhelming.

Sorry for the self-pity but it feels better just saying this.

Cyn- I'll be "on vacation" but not really going anywhere. Andrew's best friend flies in Wednesday from CA for the week, so we'll spend sometime with him. I took next Tuesday off because who wants to work on their birthday!
