Ok..so I got my first yeast infection...

And I got the Monistat 1 Day treatment -- how long does this take to go away? Does it only take the 1 day? I didn't realize till after I'd opened the box that you're supposed to use it overnight. I used it this afternoon but I've been lying around all day

Please tell me this will be over soon.

It will take a while to go through your system. Since it is your first one, you really should see your OB/GYN.

Yogurt works wonders.

Yeast infections can be controlled a great deal through the use of probiotics (acidophilus/bifidus) Make sure you either buy the liquid or the capsules without sugars. You'd be surprised how well taking one a day works. They can be used therapeutically while you are using monistat too.

You get yeast infections because the natural yeast that lives in you overgrows and becomes dominant. Probiotics will keep the good bacterial plentiful and control the yeast, keeping it from getting out of control.

BTW, drinking alcohol and eating sugar will feed the yeast..as will cheese and vinegars. So until the symptoms are gone, I'd steer clear of them..
