Morning...

Lauren ~ Hi there...how you feeling?

Mandy ~ Sorry about the belly envy...I have it a bit too because mine isn't that perfect round belly. I still have that dent. Hope all is well with Spencer.

StarFire ~ I second the needing a belly shot!! Hope all is well.

So, I finally gave in last night and "did it" with DH. I just haven't wanted to - surprise, surprise. And, it tends to be uncomfortable. Especially last night, I was dry, dry, dry. Even DH noticed. I am thinking this isn't going to be able to happen much more in the next 6 weeks. Also, are you supposed to stop having sex at any time?

Okay, and the question I keep forgetting to ask. I am going to be 34 weeks on Friday. When do I pack a bag and what the heck do I put in it?

Well, busy today...BBL!

Hey, Amy, I think the "rule of thumb" is to pack at 36 weeks. I'm sure there's some great lists out there of what to pack. Becca has posted some great advice, but you'd have to search for it. Definitely bring a comfy robe but leave your pj's at home. You can also leave pads and undies at home, since the hospital provides those mesh disposable undies and pads that work great. The things I really used were my iPod, robe, slippers, stationary (and PEN!), and toiletries - in particular my favorite lotion and lip balm. That was about it for me. But, you'll want to pack a "labor" bag, too.. stuff to help you while you labor (massager, music, focal point or whatever to help you get through).

And since Mandy asked:

Mandy, have they discussed with you why all of that happened with Spencer? Is it something that could happen again?

Hi Everyone!

Just a kick drive by to say hello. I will try and get caught up on what happened here over the weekend.

Congratulations to Becca!

Lauren-Hi

SmileyAmy-Sorry you did not enjoy last night. Have you ever tried KY? About the hospital bag. I had my bag packed and baby's carseat in the car by 34 weeks. I live in a very rural area and did not want to be caught without these things. What to pack: personal tolietries(toothbrush, deoderant, etc), going home outfit (I just wore hospital gowns while there), baby's going home outfit, anything you need/want during birthing, snacks for you and DH, and phone numbers of family or designate another family member to make all the calls. I'm sure there is a ton of stuff I am missing! My brain just isn't together yet this morning. I'll see what else I come up with.

BBL,

Jackie

Well, I am still here. Argh. Still no contractions or any signs of upcoming labor, how frustrating! I don't even think the baby has dropped yet, though I am told that sometimes you either can't notice that or it doesn't happen until right before they are born. I don't feel too upset yet, I am just SOOOO tired. I was REALLY not looking forward to coming into work to hear everyone ask me about it, but the women in my office have been way low key about it today. Thank god. They probably expect that if they mention it, I will flip out. And they're right!

I actually didn't pack my bag until last week (so 39 weeks for me). My hospital provides gowns for delivery and actual nightgowns for post delivery. They also provide maxi-pads and underwear, so I didn't pack more than two pairs of those. I mainly packed things for the baby, though they also provide t-shirts for babies (because with the umbilical cord remnant, they can't really wear onesies yet) and blankets too. I also packed some of my favorite DVDs, CDs, my gameboy, baby book, a pen and paper, preggipops, slippers, massage oils, lotion, chapstick, toiletries and my robe. That's all I plan on bringing. And I am pretty sure I won't even get to use most of what I am bringing, but I felt like I HAD to pack something!! I am sure the ladies on here who have recently had their little ones can give better advice, but that's what I did.

One thing to keep in mind is that you shouldn't be too anxious to pack your bag. Your labor most likely isn't going to progress quickly enough where you or DH won't be able to gather some things before you leave for the hospital. I feel like the books and websites out there make it seem like you need to go and buy all new things for your bag, but I plan on just packing the toiletries that I use everyday. No sense in buying all new things for a (maybe) two-day hospital stay!!

OK I'm caught up! It was great to read everyones birth stories.

Becca-Three hours Holy Crap! Way to go!

Luna-Great story.

Miss Gigl-You got a taste of everything didn't you? I hope breastfeeding continues to get better.

SmileyAmy-Congratulations on DH's job. Great news. How was the baby shower?

jehcekah-Sorry you are getting frustrated! When is your next appointment?

MetroAmes-The pissed cat picture almost made me spit out my iced tea! Thanks for the laugh!

Thinking of Alli!

DH and I are taking the day "off" today. We moved cattle all weekend to summer pasture. I really enjoy the process but I am exhausted. Luckily MS was not a problem. I learned that I need to find an industrial strength sports bra.

Jackie

Hey ladies. Trying to get these pics resized. All three kids are keeping me busy. BFing is going okay. Trying to pump a bit too, but I can't get a good let down cuz I can't relax!

Yeah 3 hrs compared to 22 the first time. I'm still very upset that I couldn't have my epidural. It was just that they waited too long to call the anesthesiologist and he was backed up. I could have had it, that is why I'm upset. I don't think they believed me that I was as far along as I was. PLUS...they had like 17 babies in the nursery that night and more coming. Just a crazy time.

Be back when I can.

Oh yah...DUH!

A camera! And extra batteries, film (if not digital), memory sticks (if digital), or a camcorder...can't believe that I forgot all of that stuff!!

My next appointment isn't until Thursday. I really wish it was tomorrow. I just want to know if I am dilating at all, though really I suppose there isn't a darn thing I can do about it, it still would be nice to know.

Good morning, fellow fertility friends.

Okay, the heartburn is starting early today, and I am so sore from moving all that darn wood yesterday. Ow! It made for a bad night of sleep, not to mention, it is finally getting warm here, and pretty much no one had A/C because you really don't need it for the most part. (except if you're pregnant)

Amy, sorry to hear about your "experience" last night. It is not fun for me either right now. Luckily, DH only seems interested every couple of weeks or so, since I've been pregnant. Last time he called it "climbing Mt. Simon". (Simon will probably be our baby's name.) Hopefully, soon enough things will be back to normal, or semi-normal.

Dar, cute preggo pic. How far along were you there?

Hello, Jackie Trailboss!

Jehcekah, good advice on bag packing. Hope you see some labor signs soon!

Becca, just post the pictures, we don't care if they are too big! We are dying to see the little guy!

****Okay, URGENT QUESTION: I may be having my Glucose Test today at my doctor's appt in a few hours. Any advice? I am a little worried about it because I tend to have low blood sugar normally. I have heard people say that I should eat a fair amount of protein before, and hardly any carbs. Any thoughts on this?*****

Thanks for all the advice on what to pack. I am so lost. I have people telling me to bring this and that and then other say no, you don't need that. Guess I will figure it out soon enough.

Trailboss ~ My shower was great! Got almost everything we need - all the big stuff at least. My apt is starting to look like a baby lives there!

Becca ~ Glad you are doing okay. Are you as stressed as you thought or is it all working out. Can't wait to see pictures - hurry!!

jehcekah ~ Sorry you are so uncomfy...I hope Thursday comes quickly for you.

Grace ~ Sorry you had a rough night - no lugging wood!! Also, I was told by my doctor to just eat normally. Don't add or take away anything - you wouldn't want the test results to not be right because you heard if you do something special it won't show up low. JMHO But good luck anyway!

Feeling icky...might see if I can scoot out a bit early today.

AMY ~ WHERE IS THAT BIRTH STORY!?!?!

Grace, that was the morning Alison was delivered, so 38.5 weeks.

Did they not warn you about having a test beforehand? I had mine done at a lab, and was told to fast before. I did it first thing in the morning. I know all dr's are different. I would think they would have told you first, since it's a 1 hour wait. So, I didn't eat anything beforehand and passed it fine. I know that some girls on here ate a protein meal beforehand and also passed. I know, I'm no help!

Dar ~ They told you to fast before the glucose test?? Hmmm...I was told to make sure I eat normal and not to skip any meals. My books... Never thought of that. I am just reading along...never thought to look forward to see if it told you what to pack. I have "Girlfriends Guide" "Your Pregnancy Week by Week" and "What to Expect..." One of them must have a list. Thanks Dar! You are a wealth of knowledge!

Grace-Sorry about your heartburn. Are you talking about the test for gestational diabetes? For that I had to fast as well. I would definately call your dr's office.

Acutepenguin- Can't believe I forgot to mention a camera!

Becca-Good luck Bf'ing. Do you have someone to help out with your other two?

Just here to help! Girlfriend's Guide was helpful to me because it tells you what not to take, too! And it's the only one that reminds you to take a pen. Remember Michelle was lamenting the fact that she didn't have one. I made sure to bring extra!

And the reason I said stationary.. I brought some not thinking I'd use it, but just in case. I ended up writing a letter to Alison late in the night the day she was born and tucked it in her baby book. It's funny because I don't remember alot of the day, but the letter helps me to remember!

Ohhhh...that is so sweet. My father wrote down a whole "story" about what happened and how he felt - basically everything that happened the day I was born - did it for my younger brother too. I remember him reading it to me when I was little. He offered to pull it out for me so I could read it.

Writing a letter to Sara is something I would definitly do. So sentimental. OMG *sniffle, sniffle*

Okay ladies

The second one everyone looks funny cuz of the angle.

I have some cuter ones I need to upload. I can't post them because they are too big to even upload to my server.

I just got back from picking up a prescription from the Grocery store pharmacy, getting soothies for my boobies from the drugstore and going to McDonald's. I'm wiped out.

I am more tired and achey today than after I had the baby.

Oh, and watch out everyone...hormonal lady on the loose! This lady ran a stop sign at the grocery store when I was turning across in front of her and almost hit us (in the car, not walking) She got out and I was getting a cart to load everyone in and said, "Do you always run stop signs?" She said, "There is no stop sign...grow up." OMG...she should have shut up. I yelled at her across the parking lot, pointed out the stop sign and said, you almost ran into me my 2 kids and 5 day old baby! She gritted on me and I told her to watch her back. She passed me in the store and I gave her a look that could kill. I wanted to cry though. Don't people know not to mess with a woman that just had a kid! I know I overreacted but I felt better after.

Bfing is going okay. He isn't opening wide enough to get a comfy latch. Got some nipple shields but he doesn't like them today. Bought a breast pump from BBRUS, trying to master that. I'm getting about a half oz to oz each time but my milk just came in yesterday it was like orangey stuff the day before! LOL

I suggest to all of you that want to BF to find an LC BEFORE you deliver. I called mine....she is on vacation and trying to find another is like pulling teeth. We will see.

Also, ask for the LC at the hospital...the maternity nurses really don't know what they are doing in that respect. They think they know...but they don't.

What to pack

Robe
Slippers
toiletries
big old undies to wear home
music
pillow
pen
phone numbers
calling card
camera
outfit for home for you and baby (or what you wore there)

That is all I needed

Becca, great pictures. You have an adorable family! Sorry about the grocery store incident. You would think people would be extra careful around kids. Go figure. When stuff like that happens, I always daydream about reporting the person for reckless driving, never actually do it, but it is fun to think about.

Thanks Amy, Dar & Jackie for your thoughts on the glucose test. My doctor's office tends to undercommunicate. So, I have no idea if they are doing it today or not. I just read up a little on the test and I guess they are looking for high blood sugar, since my tends to be low, I suppose I won't worry about it.

I also have my third ultrasound today. I am going to ask them to measure him so that I can get a guesstimate on his weight. I'm thinking he is going to be big and want to be prepared. I'll let you know how it goes.

Have a fabulous day!

I talked with my OB about it after Spencer was born. I wasn't in the age categories that have a higher risk (under 17, over 35), I don't smoke, and every infection that they tested for was negative. It was, literally, a freak accident. Unfortunately, it is something that could happen again. I carry about a 25% chance of a repeat. My OB said that shouldn't stop me from getting pregnant again though, as she feels the odds are in my favor.

I just can't help but to think back to the first few weeks after my water broke. I could have gone into labor and delievered a 21 weeker that had no chance. I just don't know if I'm willing to chance it with another baby. This situation could have turned out so, so much worse than it did.

Hi all,

This is just a quickie drive by. Wanted to congratulate Becca on her new little boy!! Luke is beautiful Becca. Look at that hair! He looks so tiny next to your other kids!

Sorry about the epidural saga. But you got a healthy boy and that's what counts!

Take care of yourself.

I'll BBL to catch up on more news.

Becca ~ Oooo, Luke is adorable. I LOVE the picture of your DH and kids all on the bed together. So sweet. Sorry about the grocery store incident. I hate it when people think that just because the traffic sign is in a parking lot they don't have to follow it.

Mandy ~ I can totally understand you being afraid of being pregnant again and the constant worry. Spencer was a strong boy with a strong mother and thankfully he is going to be okay, but I see how you would never know with another. When the time comes, I am sure you and Jake will do what is right for you both - and Spencer.

Kaillean ~ Hi there...

Grace ~ I would think you Dr's would tell you when they were going to do the test. I got a whole sheet with directions on it.
