back, Lauren/MrsIndpndent. Nice to have you with us!

abvidrine/Amy and congratulations! This is a great group. Everyone is very supportive and welcoming. As Alli said, it can be slow on the weekends. So don't think we're ignoring you.

Jehcekah, that was news to me on the pain that you have been having. Thanks for sharing.

I have been having bad headaches for no aparent reason for the past couple of days. Tylenol is not putting a dent in them. Does anyone know if we are able to take Tylenol PM? I am having a lot of trouble sleeping.

Amy, good luck on your shower. I hope you get lots of great presents! Let us know how it goes.

Sending good baby vibes out to Meg & Lara. Hoping to hear something soon.

Becca, I'm glad to hear that you're progressing a bit. That's a great semi-new Avi pic. Is it recent? You look beautiful.

Okay, must try to get some sleep now......

-Grace

Not getting my hopes up... she's fooled us before, but I'm having contractions that are coming about 8 minutes apart... stronger than before too, but still very easy. Combine that with bloody show and (ahem, TMI) the fact that my body is ridding itself of everything in it (if you know what I mean)... well, I'm still not getting my hopes up... this could stop in a heartbeat after all... might be nothing.

Thanks for adding me to the list! This is fun!

Talk about early for the weekend. I guess sleep is a difficult thing for many. I know I will have trouble sleeping once I can not sleep on my stomach anymore. I'll probably be on the board during those sleepless times. For now, I'll sleep as long as I can

So many Amy's!! Funny. I'll just use "abv" so we do not confuse everyone.

Anyone thinking of becoming a stay at home mom after the baby is born?
I've worked hard on a career and now I am thinking I want to stay at home for a year or two. Anyone else thinking of making that change or did it?

Everyone enjoy their weekend!
Great to be aboard.

ABV-

I know that GoJackets stays at home now, and I toyed with the idea. I'm now working an abbreviated work schedule, so I work 4 and stay home 3. So far it's working for me. I know that it's a really hard decision to make, and I still haven't totally made mine...

Vixen Amy- I hope you are doing okay? About now you should be to the point where you aren't posting anymore!! Sorry we didn't get to wish ya luck sooner!!

Welcome new ladies!!

Grace, yes that is a new avi, thank you for the compliment. My Dr. allows me the use of benadryl to help sleep if need be. Not ongoing though. I would call and ask about Tylenol PM, it isn't on my list of safe meds but I know that in the last trimester, they will even give you Ambien. I know my Dr. was okay with my taking Nyquil in Dec when I was sick. I was still nauseous too and in my first tri.

Talk about lack of sleep. We went to the outback last night for dinner. We got there about 8:15 and I was so freaking thirsty. I downed 3 glasses of diet coke with lemon. Now the outback we go to has little glasses but still. Got home, tired as all get out and I have a cold/allergies. Took a benadryl, went to sleep for about an hour and woke up in pain with the itchies and stuffed up. Spent all night like this. Took a shower at 2am and got to sleep at 3:30 or 4. DH rolled over at 5:30 which woke me up and I've been up ever since. DON'T YA KNOW....both kids slept until almost 9am. NO FAIR!

I had plans to try and mow and weed eat today but it is suposed to be 94 deg and humid. I paid the guy across the street to do it. That way DH can actually take his day off tomorrow and spend it with the kids.

I plan on doing the dishes a bit of laundry and swimming and enjoying the A/C

I'm thinking I will have the baby on Wednesday....whatcha think?LOL

Oh ABV- I quit my job in HR after I had my DD who is now 3. I had my son at the time and he was almost 3. Hardest decision I ever made...hardest job I ever took. Stay at home mom is no cake-walk. But well worth the rewards if you can do it. My DH would tend to disagree with you...he thinks that my son is better off since he was in daycare. In some ways he is...he is more independent...he listens better and he learned to clean up his toys faster...but it was very hard to leave him at 3mos old and it was hard to nurse him thru all the illnesses he got while in daycare. Good luck with your decision.

Hello ladies!

Vixen- I agree with Becca, I don't think you should be posting anymore . Sounds like your little one will be here soon! Good luck!

Grace--Sorry about your headaches. I hope you get some rest.

Abv--This is our first child. I will be staying home after he/she is born. I realized the other day, I have had a job since after senior year of high school. I worked the entire time I was in college. So, I have been working for 10 years. It is going to be strange not working.

Becca--Yes, you may have the baby on Wednesday . That will be fine for us.

Jennifer- Welcome! Hopefully the person who starts the thread on Monday will add you. If they don't, please remind us again! Good luck TTC!

Well, I am at work today since I will be off work Monday and Tuesday. One great thing about my job is that they really don't care what hours you work, as long as the work is getting done. So I am working today, and next Saturday. We are leaving early tomorrow morning to go camping and to see Dave Mattthews Band both Sunday and Monday nights. We have front row tickets for Sunday!!! I am so excited. It is supposed to rain the entire time we are there which should make camping interesting. I'll be back online on Tuesday afternoon/evening.

I had been feeling better the last couple of days. I feel like crap today though. Ick.

Vixen Amy, it sounds like you are making some progress. Good luck & let us know how it goes.

Abv, I just recently made the decision to not go back to my long-time career in sales at IBM. I took a leave of absence to get pregnant (too stressed to get pregnant while doing that job) and recently they asked me to decide whether I would be coming back after the baby. I decided not to go back, which was VERY difficult. It took me about 14 years to get to this point in my career. I was actually making more $ than my husband in recent years and I had just been promoted right before I went on leave. Although, I have been selling real estate for the whole time since I've been on leave, about a year and a half. The nice thing about real estate is that I am self-employed, so no one cares if I don't work a ton, and I can somewhat make my own hours. It is hard for me to imagine not working at a traditional job at all. I have been working since I was legally able to, did volunteer work before that, and I always liked the control that I had by making my own $. That being said, I consider being a mom more than a full-time job (24/7). So, I think I will feel like I am working plenty when I have the little guy around. I don't know if that is helpful or not, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Becca, thanks for the medication thoughts. I guess I need to ask my doctor what she would recommend for me. This is starting to become a problem more often for me. I'm usually against medication if at all possible, but I need some sleep!

jennifer-in-wv, , and of course you can be added. We just have one thread for the weekend. So, you probably won't be added until Monday Am.

Lou, sorry you have to work over the weekend. But, Dave Matthews front row! Wow! I am so jealous!!!

Hey guys... just checking in. I have been babysitting and will be all next week too. After that I will be able to post more!

And for everyone who thinks it will be weird not working anymore once the baby is here............... you will work MORE than you did at your previous job!!! You just won't get PAID!!!!!!!!!!! THAT is the weird part!

Seriously though, part time work, consulting, freelance, small business from home, etc... you don't have to STOP "working" at all. It's all possible. I do it and homeschool to boot!

Just another update (one of the MANY perks of birthing at home... I can update frequently!)... the contractions have decreased in frequency, but increased in intensity... from what I understand though this can be normal with a posterior baby (she was LOP a week ago... so I'm assuming she hasn't turned much). My DD is very excited about today being the day, so I really am hoping that this is going to really happen today... it feels like it, but only time will tell ~smiles~

Good luck Amy!

I wanted to pop in and give you guys something to be grateful for. I got the first of Spencer's hospital bills. From the first hospital (birth to age 6 days): $106,517. From the second hospital (age 6 days to 8 days): $6337. We haven't gotten any bills past his 8th day of life, but it looks like our current hospital is charging us $680 a day. This doesn't include my hospital bills and bills from my OB (which I know to be over $6000). Anyone else's head spinning yet? LOL

Wow, Mandy! Please tell me that you don't have to pay those bills!!! How about for your stay in the hospital before you had Spencer? I bet that wasn't inexpensive either!

Oh my goodness Mandy! Those bills are crazy!!! A friend of mine got the AFLAC Intensive Care policy (which covers a baby after it is born) and ended up making $15,000 off of it which they used to start college funds for their twins (who were in NICU for two months). Luckily, their insurance covered everything.

We ended up getting the same policy and hope we don't need it someday.

gosh Amy it has been 4 hrs. Just wondering how things are going!!

Mandy- I hope you have insurance of some sort. I assume with DH in the military you do. Hospital bills are scary. I know that my OBs office charges a $2800 fee to deliver a baby. That is just for the doctor to come in for a few min. I think each Tylenol 3 you get are $7 a piece. Last time I had a baby the hospital charged $10 a day for phone service to be available, local only and the insurance made me pay that. LOL

Well, I have a bit of sunburn but swam for about 1-2 hrs. More like floated. Kids had fun and it alleviated some of the pains I was having. My tummy felt so heavy when I got out.

I won't be around Sunday, never am. See ya Monday or hopefully I will be in the hospital!!

Oh Grace-forgot to ask...why can't you sleep? Pains? Worries?

Dear Amy,

Please have the baby before I leave for camping tomorrow morning at 7am . Or, you may have her after 3pm on Tuesday. I really don't want to miss any big news while I am gone .
