Hi ladies!!! I'm baaaackkkk!! I don't remember most of you, as even the ppl who were trying when I was pregnant last year have just had babies! At any rate, I'm back on the bottom of the list!

Okay, I feel dumb.

So, as I said here, I haven't been having any contractions yet...blah, blah, blah. BUT, I have been feeling this sharp pain in/near my vagina. Not sure I'd even call it pain because it is so quick and usually just makes me slow down a little bit while I am walking. It happens usually when I am walking or moving around (changing sitting positions, etc). Well, I asked a co-worker, who has had two kids, exactly what a contraction should feel like and she described it as a tightening of your "belly" that goes on for a while. I haven't felt anything like that really. My belly might get tighter when I have this vaginal pain, but it is so quick that I don't notice it.

Anyway...

So last night I was having these pains quite a lot. I got out my "Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy" (by the way, imo...the BEST pregnancy book out there) and looked up vaginal pain. The table of contents lead me right to the section for weeks 37-40 and it basically said, "In the last few weeks of pregnancy you may feel a sharp, stabbing pain in your vagina. This is due to your cervix dilating (ripening)....blah, blah, blah."

Technically these might not be CONTRACTIONS but they are progress!!!
Yippeee! I finally actually feel like we are accomplishing something here! Now when I feel that pain I can imagine that my cervix is dilating and the baby is moving into my pelvic region! PHEW!!! Maybe I won't be pregnant forever!!! Hahahaaa....

I know I sound SO clueless on all of this, but hey...it is our first baby! How was I supposed to know that the pain was a good thing?

This happened to me a TON while pregnant the last time. My doctor described it as pelvic spreading and that sort of thing. It definitely isn't comparable to a true contraction, though, so I never considered it as that - even though I guess it could be! You're almost there!

So, I freaked a bit last night! The crib was delivered, DH starts putting it together in what will be the babies room and I walk in and it hit me!! OMG...that is for a baby. The baby that is going to be here in 8 weeks!! OMG, OMG, OMG!! Wait until there is more stuff in there - I might just have a heart attack! LOL

So, my shower is tomorrow!! I have calmed down a bit after seeing some more big stuff being bought. Phew! I am a bit worried...it is supposed to be 90 and humid tomorrow. I hate the head in the first place, but being pregnant, I am a bit nervous. I guess they will make the decision in the morning as to whether they should have it inside but even inside a hot house, with no AC and 40 people...H-O-T!! I guess I just need to suck it up and remember water, water and more water!!

Have a good weekend everyone if I don't pop back in. It's supposed to be horrible weather, so it looks like the community wide garage sale and David's birthday party might be washouts. I'm so over this already! Sure, it rains alot in FL, but it's usually predictable and for about an hour a day, not this all day stuff.

Still here, having the same sharp pains as Jesikah. They actually woke me from my nap. I've been having them for a week or so. I'm starting to pack my bag just in case. I'll be checking in with you all. Have a great weekend for those that won't be around until Monday.

Hey Ladies. I'm here. I had an appt at the OB at noon and stopped at my Dad's house to see him for a bit. It is hot as hell out today. Getting ready to take DD out swimming.

OB said I'm now 2 cm dialated and 50% efaced. I was 1-1.5cm and 0% efaced on Sunday so at least all these contractions I'm having are getting me somewhere. If I dont' have the baby by next Friday I can schedule and induction the following week. I had Alyssa very fast and I'm 45 min from the hospital and DH is 2 hrs from home so. It is up to me. I think if they broke my water now...I'd go in a few hours!

Jecehkah- those are the most annoying pains...aren't they? They are progress, but sometimes not measurable at all so don't be discouraged if you get checked at the OB and aren't going anywhere. I didn't dialate with my 1st until labor began and with my second I was 1 cm and that was it.

OMG, you guys are getting so close! How exciting!! Can't wait for more birth stories. Soon we'll have babies from Alli, Jecekah, Becca, Luna, Vixen...who am I forgetting.

I'm in a great mood as I put my mom on a bus back home today. Yippee, I'm free. Two and a half days is just about right. Any more and I'd go bonkers. I got through it though, and didn't even make her cry once. That's probably a record. She was in full martyr mode, but for the most part I did not let it get a rise out of me and so we had a relatively pleasant visit.

She is very excited about the baby, so that gives us something to talk about. She came bearing gifts - she'd knitted a yellow sweater for 6 mos, and another sweater/hat/booties set for a newborn in white, as well as a nice blanket. Plus she'd bought a couple of warm sleepers and a couple of books, then bought me another outfit while she was here.

Plus, two old ladies in her apartment building sent gifts -- and I don't even know them! One lady sent two onesies, and the other sent two gorgeous crocheted blankets in white.

This is the first stuff for my baby (except for a cute pair of Gap socks that I'd bought) and it's a bit bewildering to see it folded here beside me. I've always loved little baby clothes and such, but this stuff is for MY baby. MY baby! That's horrifying, scary and exciting all at the same time!

All of the handmade goodies inspired me to try to remember how to crochet myself, so I've started a baby hat. Actually I started two, but the first one seems to have been getting wider and wider as I went up, instead of the other way around. Been a looooong time since I did anything like this.

I want to make at least one thing for the baby myself. But I'm a much better starter than finisher -- and I've also bought things to do the baby's scrapbook. I hope I finish it before he/she goes to college.

Hi Everyone,

Well, this month was a definite bust. It is sad but it is only the second month of trying and the first month of REALLY trying. I'm trying to focus on more weight loss until I do get pregnant. I've lost another 3.5lbs recently so I'm excited about that.

Looks like we will have lots of new mommies soon! Very exciting!!!

Hi

I've been reading this forum for a bit. I just found out that I am pregnant. This is my first. And I am nervous as all get out!

I am 5 weeks and my expected due date is February 12ish, 2006.

I haven't had any morning sickness yet and hope that I can handle it if I do. I bought all kinds of low carb crackers, some raw ginger, and giner ale just in case.

I plan on staying low carb maintenance level, but so many have said they tried and could not stay low carb with their pregnancy. I guess I'll see how it goes.

Thanks everyone for being here. My husband is in CA until October, so I'll be alone during this for a while. This board is really going to help!

Hi Amy. Congratulations . The board is usually VERY slow on weekends, so you'll probably get more welcomes on Monday.
Most of us did try to maintain but it didn't work LOL. Kaillean is doing very very well with it though. I hope it'll be easy for me to jump back on the LC train when I'm ready. I really enjoyed the WOE.
