Losin' The Baby Fat - Tuesday!

Morning Mommies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quick post as hubby works days today and I gotta' get me, him and Elana up and moving so that I can drop Elana off at sitters, him to work and myself to my job by 7:30am *whew*.

I do have some good news!! Went to my ob/gyn last night for my annual papsmear. This is the same ob/gyn who denied me birth control pills after Elana was born due to my weight and new research finding breakthrough pregnancies in "obese" women (man I hate that word). Anyway, she was so excited about my weight loss and feels I am completely determined to do this...that she wrote me a script for a non-estrogen based birth control pill!! While I still can do the IUD when we can afford it....I can also do the pill for a year if I decide I like it/trust it better. I was shocked she wrote it...but thrilled as to why

Elana's doing great....starting to sit up on her own. It's funny because now she's always got her little head moving forward trying to pull her body up but she just can't quite get there. I took some pics, enjoy

Have a great day Mommies!!!! Hopefully State will come in to survey my job in the next few weeks then I'll be able to destress and be here 100% again. I miss you guys!!!

What a cutie pie Chelle.

I am getting kind of frustrated with my eating. I do so well and stick to plan for 2 or 3 days and then the dizziness and leg cramps come back and then I end up eating off plan (specifically potatoes, because they get rid of my leg cramps and chocolate, because I've been craving it constantly). I haven't gained any weight as I haven't been binging or anything, but I haven't been losing any for several weeks either.

I really need to find the balance I need. I haven't been hungry, but evidently I need more of something and I'm guessing potassium. Should I just keep the potatoes in and get rid of something else? I really don't care to eat them any more, but I don't know what else to do. I was looking up potassium values on foods and nothing comes close to what potatoes have except maybe bananas and those are just as bad carbwise and I don't care much for them anyway. I've heard about Mortin Lite salt and I may have to give it a try, but I'm pretty sure I've had it before and didn't like it at my grandparent's house. I'm a little leary about taking potassium supplements.

Perhaps, I am low in magnesium too, because that can cause leg cramps and chocolate is high in it and I've been craving it all the time. But I'm taking a Cal/mag supplement so I'm not sure. Any suggestions ladies? I'm at a loss. I think that my calories are probably fine 2300-2500, but I'm not getting the right foods to meet my needs I guess. Any help would be appreciated. Oh and here is a sample of what I've been eating:

Boiled egg
Oatmeal w/blueberries and Davinci

Meat
Salad
Strawberry and yogurt smoothie
Orange
Flax bread
Coffee

Deviled eggs
Green Tea

Chicken Salad
Cucumbers with ranch dressing

Real quick Ames...how much of the CalMag supplement are you taking? I take mine 2 times a day, breakfast and lunch...and I find it has made a tremendous difference.

I take two tablets total spread over two times a day. I'm really thinking it is the potassium though since eating potatoes seems to make a big difference in whether I get the leg cramps or not.

Ames, my first thought was a potassium supplement, too. I used to take mine right before bed, and it helped get rid of my cramps. I can't remember how much I took, though. I'd have to look at the bottle. I took it in addition to a cal/mag supplement. I hope you find answers.

Chelle, she's so cute! Look at her sitting up, that's adorable! That first pic cracks me up with the smirk. Have a good day at work.

I took some 2 month photos of Alison last night. I'll have to upload them for all to see, I hope they turned out good. I tried to make them a little professional looking, but I suck so I don't know.

Menu for today:
B- hb egg, 2 oz cheese
L- 1/2 chicken breast, celery w/ cream cheese
D- not sure yet - need to look up some recipes or maybe be lazy and pick up chicken wings from Beef's
S- sf jello w/ cool whip

Well, I weigh in tomorrow, but I'm afraid of what the scale will say. I know I'm in ketosis.. I can taste it and I tested positive for it yesterday but it was light. So, if the scale is not kind to me tomorrow, I'm going to have to reevaluate. I hope I don't have to do low calorie LC, but I may. I'm a little concerned because the last time I did Atkins, I lost 10 pounds right away, then stalled for months and tried all kinds of stuff. Ok, I'm trying not to panic.. we'll see what the scale says.

Woo Hoo, Liz! That's awesome! Now you can scratch off goal #3.

I don't know what to have for dinner, either. I need some ideas for something easy and not too expensive! LOL... It's too hard to make anything elaborate these days.

Hi Girls~

I won't be able to be around much today - my laptop is quite ill & I'm posting from DH's computer right now. I had DH reformat my hard drive last night to get rid of some problems I was having (& also to get rid of all of the Dell software that came pre-loaded on it) & now he can't get it to reload Windows because I don't have a floppy drive (just a cd-rom.) I didn't see the need for a floppy drive when I bought the laptop (it was an extra option) so I didn't get one. I guess now I'll have to buy one just so that I can get my computer running again.

Chelle~ Man, those are great pics of Elana - she is such a beauty! Also, I'm so glad you had a good GYN visit!

Ames~ Sorry I'm no help with the diet/supplement question, but I hope you're able to figure it out soon!

Liz~ Congrats on the loss!

Dar~ Hope you have a good weigh-day tomorrow!

Well, I've got to run, Reilly's crying. He was super cranky all day yesterday, so I hope we're not in for a repeat of that!

Oh yeah, scale showed me down 1.6 lbs from yesterday (damn weekend) so I'm chugging more water today to get the rest of it off.

I'll try to pop back in later, but if not I hope everyone has a wonderful day & I'll back when I can.

just popping in with a quick question, I've asked this before but forgot what answers I got. I'm looking for a new digital, I can spend up to $300.00, I'm looking at Sears.com right now, but I'm not sure what all the different things mean. SD Card, some kind of Memory Stick, xD Picture card Help would be great

Hey guys... quick post as I have a pounding migraine and had it all night at work too. I haven't had coffee in 3 days now, and it is killing me. Plus today Jason isn't coming home for lunch because he has to do something regarding my present . While I'm excited, I could REALLY use a nap. (and a coffee)

Deirdre... We actually only used the sling the one time, at downtown disney, because it was so hot all week, that we would have sweated up a storm! But I use them here a lot, and my sis uses the one I made her ALL the time. She was nursing in it at Perkins the other day, and there was no way you could tell.

Ok.. off to try and relax.

Quick post and then off to work again.

Liz- Andrew and I have the Cannon A95 (but the A75 and 85 are nice modles also, and under $300.00). We haven't gotten a bad picture off of it yet!

Good morning ladies! I am in such a good mood today, I have no idea why. I just feel happy!

I am really excited because I saw my lowest weight yet this morning!! 257.8. That 24.2 lbs since I started BFL. I have this week and next week and I will have completed my first BFL challenge. YAY!!!!!

Tanner is doing really good. He's still got a cough from when he was sick. I wonder when that will ever go away. Mason is coming down with something now, and I can still feel my sickness hanging on a bit... boy, we're a healthy bunch!

Mason started his new 3 week schedule yesterday, so he is working 1:30 to midnight, 7 days a week. Ick. He did get off early last night and was home by 10:30, so that made me happy. I don't like going to bed and being home at night without him. I'm a wimp.

B- Whole wheat waffles, natural pb, sf syrup, turkey bacon

S- BFL Bar

L- Tuna on whole wheat, applesauce

S- SF pudding

D- Not sure

S- Skinny cow ice cream.

Today is cardio day.

Chelle: Elana is SO CUTE! She is sitting up so well for as young as she is. I'm impressed! She is darling. And good for you on the BCP... you skinny mini!! I'm so proud of you!

Ames: Why are you leary of potassium supplements? I took them while LCing, and they helped out tremendously!

Dar: I can't wait to see her pics, I can't believe she's 2 months old already! Your menu looks great!

Liz: 297!! That's fantastic!!! Good for you!!!!!!!

Emily: Sorry your computer is on the fritz, thank goodness you have backup! Yay on being down 1.6!

Hi Guys,

I've been seriously MIA since a bad electrical storm blew out our internet. Man, I've missed being online! We live close to a the Oasis, a huge touristy restaurant on the lake with levels and levels of decks on a hill overlooking the lake. Anyway that same lightening storm caused it to catch fire and burn down. Sad because it was a landmark here for its sunsets, one of those must-sees if you visit the city, plus I worked there in high school.

I've been terrible with my eating, totally off plan but I got back on yesterday and have only gained 1 lb. Some sort of loophole in the universe, I guess. I've gotta get serious if I'm going to TTC next month.

Sophie has started giving these big, slobbery, open-mouthed kisses. It's so sweet!! Plus I think she now knows who Mama and Dada are.

chelle--I've been meaning to thank you again for sending those coupons. It's like getting cash!! Elana is such a doll and I love that onesie, so feminine.

metro--I know what you mean about cycles of cheating. I hope you figure out the potassium thing..those leg cramps are a killer. I got one at my OB appt. when I was preggo and was frozen in pain until it went away.

livinglg--Are you sad about kinderg. or kinda glad to have more time with the baby. OR both?

Dar--I had to do low cal for the first coupla months post-baby since regular Atkins wasn't working. I pulled out my old WWatchers stuff and counted points for awhile. V. effective!

blueyedgirl--I'm with you on the cranky baby. We're working on 2 bottom teeth here and Sophie is uber-cranky and clingy. She tries to crawl in my lap and says mamamamama with her arms out. And this is from the girl that normally is not a cuddler.

boods--Hope you feel better. Cafe breve??

Sarah--Dang woman, you're doing so well!

Question: We're going to the beach next week and I'm wondering if you guys have any tips for beach babies. I think we're taking a tent to keep the sun off of her for the most part. Sadly she has started yanking her hat off of her head repeatedly so that won't work for keeping the sun off. Should I worry about her eating sand??!

I only have a second, but I wanted to contribute to Liz's question on cameras.

I have the Fuji Finepix 3800 & I love it. It is my second Fuji Finepix camera & I wore the first one out while we were living in Europe (I find them to be really durable.) Here's the one I have now:

It's not a current model, but here's the link with more info about it.

Hey, trolly, sorry to hear about the storm and restaurant. I hadn't heard about that, but I'm terrible about reading or listening to the news. I just don't do it for some reason. I'd also like to know what to do about taking baby to the beach. I'd love to go this summer.

Liz, we have a Canon digital camera that uses a Compact Flash Card for memory. They now make them all the way up to 1 GB of memory which holds hundreds of pictures. The different memory sticks/cards don't make a whole lot of difference. It just kind of depends on what brand you have what kind of memory it will have. All the printing centers I've seen (Walgreen's, Walmart, etc.) and photo printers will accomodate all different kinds of cards/sticks. My Canon also has a USB connection so I can upload directly to my computer. So, depending on how you want to use it, you may want to make sure that you have that ability. The camera should come with the software for you to upload to your computer if you desire. Good luck!

Well, I met Rob for his appointment at the dermatologist today. He's had a spot on his back that I've been harping on him for years to have checked out. They are going to do a biopsy on the tissue samples they took and let us know the results, whether or not it's melanoma. Either way, he will probably have it removed, it just depends on how they go about treating it if it is melanoma.

Afterwards, we went for lunch, so my menu changed. I had a chicken ceasar salad, and will probably have my leftover chicken for dinner instead. Or maybe some deli ham w/ cheese. I don't know yet. I'm hoping it doesn't rain tonight so I can go to agility class.

Congrats to Sarah! And I hope Dawn feels better and Emily's computer, too!

I guess that's it for now. Later!

Okay, finally, I can devote some time to the boards before I have to rush off and get ready for the wake. I'll be on more tomorrow since I had to take a vacation day to watch Hunter so Andrew could attend the services for his uncle tomorrow.

B- Green Olives, string cheese
L- Parmesean Crusted Chicken Nuggets, ranch dipping sauce, string cheese, SF Jello
D- Quiznos

Chelle- What a little cutie pie!!!! She is doing so well sitting up.

Ames- Wish I could help, but all I can do is send ((hugs))

Dar- Good luck with your check in tomorrow with the scale. I got fustrated with my loss than realized that 1lbs/week really isn't that bad.

Emily- Hope you get your computer fixed!

Holly- How horrible about that fire, I'm sure it will be missed in your town. As for babies and beaches, can't help you....Hunter will probably visit the beach for the first time this year.

Dawn- Hi!

Sarah- Congratulations on more weight gone!!! You are doing so, so good!!! After this BFL Challenge, do you move onto another one?

Vanessa- Hope you are okay, check in if you have a chance to just let us know.

Hola girlies... Just finished making the kiddoes breakfast, and Ezra's already eating his post breakfast snack... (Which means he's tanking up for the 3 hour nap...)

DAWN - I wish I could take Ezra out and nurse him in the sling... He's so darned squirmy when he nurses now. And he pops off pretty often. UGH... LOL! I hope you feel better!!!

LIZ - I have a cheapo digicam, but I saw Walmart had the Kodak Easy share (can't remember the model), but it was 6.1 megapixels, and it was $297. It included the dock too.

SARAH - HOT DAMN! I'm so proud of you!

AMES - If you don't want all the carbs, I'd just suggest a potassium supplement too.

CHELLE - YAY for the BC!

EMILY - Sorry 'bout the computer.

Still have a pounding head here.. I caved and had Jason bring me a coffee home (he changed his plans so he could let me have a nap ). It's a little better, but not much. I'm going to be a really selfish poster today and post a pic....

Eli LOVES this firetruck, and has just figured out how to get on it and push it along a little. Getting off is tricky though! I love the smirk!!

Jen... I could never have nursed like that either.. Eli was constantly on and off, we were never graceful!

Ok... I'll try to BBL..

Melissa: I plan on doing another challenge. I'm actually excited about it. I'm interested to see what will happen in another 12 weeks. I'm so happy with my results with this first one.

Dawn: So cute!! Love that firetruck! Where'd you get it? Sorry your head isn't feeling better, but so glad you can nap!

Jenn: Gotta love long naps... Tanner never naps long for me, but naps for like 2 hours at daycare... WTH?
