Pregnancy Question.
I have been doing Atkins for a yr now and still have a lot of weight to loose. I just found out that I am pregnant and am concerned about my weight and a healthy baby.
I was wondering if anyone has any info on being Over weight and pregnant. I am currently 251 pounds. Any info would be great. Thanks |

Smilin Mary- First of all congratulations!!!!! I would suggest that you join the woman in the Pregnancy Thread, they will be able to help you with your questions, etc! Then after you have your baby, you can join us on the Losin' the Baby Fat thread!
There are a couple (at least one) that on that thread is about your start weight. |

Mary....I can assure you that a healthy pregnancy/baby is VERY possible....my Elana proves that
I weighed 306 when I got pregnant with her after losing 34 lbs on LC...and only gained 23 lbs. with her. As you can see, I've lost all my baby weight and then a big chunk more..so it's entirely possible. Being overweight may perhaps have your OB watch certain indicators more frequently or with more attention...but they shouldn't have any reason to treat you any differently. CONGRATS!!! You may want to check out the Pregnancy thread ![]() |

Ditto! I was around 300 when I got preg last year, and gained 20lbs give or take a few. Judson was a healthy 9lbs 10oz. My doc told me that larger women tend to actually gain less then smaller women, not sure why , but he was right with me. I was around 200 at the beggining of preg. #1 and gained like 40
Thanks to Lc it's coming off really well now. Good luck to you in the coming months, and congrats ![]() |

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I'm currently 31 weeks pregnant and weighed 245 at the beginning of my pregnancy, so you're not alone
So far I've gained about 25 pounds. Luckily my doctor doesn't seem too worried or upset about it. I haven't gotten any extra testing. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes about a month ago, but that can happen to anyone at any weight. I will need to undergo extra monitoring towards the end, but that's because of the GD and not my weight. You'll be fine!BTW, where in Northern California are you? I'm in Pleasanton. Lisa |

I also wanted to add a huge THANK YOU for all your feedback! I have my first OB visit on the 13th so keeping fingers crossed all is well and we get to hear that heartbeat! Last edited by Smilin Mary : 06-01-2005 at 04:47 PM. Reason: thank you's |
