Losin' the Baby Fat ~ Tuesday, May 31st!
Good morning ladies! I finally have a few days off! Boy, this past week was long. I think that the sleeping problems are beginning to be resolved for the most part. The noisy fan seemed to be working and then I woke up yesterday after 4 hours of sleep and the fan had stopped!
I guess it was on it's last leg and that's why it sounded so terrible. So, we went to Walmart and got another one just like it. It is still pretty noisy and seems to be a lot better. Although, I woke up with a leg cramp today and was up for a while, but went back to bed for another 4 hours with no other problems. I guess I just needed something to drowned out the "mommy ear". Ok, I think it's time to show off some more baby pics! Warning!!! This next one is soooo gross! But my husband couldn't help himself. The baby was on tummy time and after spitting up promptly slammed his head into it! Everyone have a great day! Ames

Ames,
on that last one. Been there too many times! He's such a cutie. I'm glad you are able to get some more sleep these days! I think I'm coming down with something myself. My throat's been bothering me.. and that's always the first sign of a cold. Rob stayed up with Alison last night so I could get some sleep. Of course, us being out until 3 am yesterday morning didn't help, and it also threw off her schedule. She went to bed at 1, and I was up with her at 5:30, and she fell right back to sleep after eating. Not a bad night. Chelle, did you guys get some good storms this morning??? We had some boomers that actually shook the house. Alison slept straight through it. The dogs, on the other hand.... We've been trying to get a picture of Alison smiling.. but it seems impossible! LOL.. Here's two early attempts: ![]() But we've been getting better: And here's a couple more just because I thought they were cute... Alison pursing her lips (she does this ALOT): Sleeping baby (she loves being on her tummy): Menu today: B- 2 egg/bacon 'muffins' L- pork chop, celery w/ cream cheese S- cheese D- pork spare ribs, green beans S- jello w/ cool whip if I can remember to make it I hope to go to agility class tonight, if it's not raining. I didn't get to go last week since Rob was so frazzled with Alison. I'm hoping he'll be okay with me going tonight. |

Morning mommas... I'm BAAAA-AAACK! Didya miss me?! I'm still trying to get back into the swing of things, even though we got back Friday nite. We had my dad and his wife come in the next day , my sister and her BF come in the next, and Eli's birthday party yesterday! YIKES!!! I am drained! We had SUCH a great vacation. The weather was perfect.. not a drop of rain, even though it was in the forecast. Eli loved everything... rides, characters, and all! I gave him the Benadryl before we left and he slept from take-off to landing... Not bad!
. So my feet kept accidentally "bumping" his seat, and Eli's noisy toys somehow ended up with their speakers right next to his head... . We went on so many rides and waited 10 minutes max for any of them. Eli loved every single on of them... I was shocked! It's a Small World was definitely his fave, then Pirates of the Carribean. We did a character meal at Epcot and that was the first he saw of the characters... he just poked at their faces and grabbed noses and such.. so cute! Every day we went back to the hotel for a nice long afternoon nap and swim. It was his first real time swimming, and he loved that too. I think the fact that it was like bath water in the kiddie pool helped! I was sad to leave, but I don't think my back could have honestly taken another day of it. By the end of the trip, I couldn't bend over to pick Eli up. That was a rude awakening on the condition of my back. Oh well... it was so worth it!!! I have so many pictures (surprise there, huh?!)... I don't even know where to begin!Plane ride... ![]() This kinda shows his hair before he got it cut... ![]() And here we are starting the haircut in the barber shop. He did SO good with this... I was shocked once again. He was antsy at first, but once she put all the stickers on him and us, he was so focused on removing every last one of them! ![]() ![]() Haircut is all done... he really surprised us! He got his mouse ears that said First Haircut, a certificate, and I got his hair wrapped in a tissue. ![]() ![]() Here we are looking at some ducks in a little creek at Tom Sawyers Island. ![]() And standing in front of the castle... ![]() OK... I'll start another post, so I don't lose this one!!! (You expected all these, right??!!)

Ok... this is one of my favorite pics... Jason's favorite ride is Pirates...
![]() My little man is such a cuddler.. I love it! This was his first swim. ![]() EPCOT or bust! ![]() Mom and Eli at MGM studios. We only spent half a day here... just not too much to do with a babe. But I did manage to ride Tower of Terror and RocknRoller Coaster! ![]() This is at Tony's Restaurant on Main Street USA for Eli's birthday. (our last meal at Disney World ). They made a big deal about his first birthday and had the whole place yelling for him! It was really fun.![]() And this is pretty much how we ended every evening! He would let us stay out until 11 or 12 every night, and we just slept in every morning! ![]() All in all, it was an awesome trip! I'm so happy we went and can't wait to take #2 there! (I'm not hinting anything... I promise!) Dierdre... Hope you don't mind me calling you out in front of everyone!! THANKS for all your help.. everything went so smoothly. (Dierdre helped me with so many tedious questions and setting up dinner/lunch reservations). It was so much appreciated.. believe me! Ames.. What a little sweetheart! I love those dimples.. he has such defined features for a little guy! Keep em coming! DAr... Same to you!! I love it when they're at that smilin' stage.. so much fun. I have some of the cutest pics of Eli smiling at his papa! Beth... New job?? Fill me in! No way I can go back and read all the posts (especially on my dial-up!) |

Summer... Hey woman! How's it going? Any trips planned for going up north this summer?! We're going up to our cabin over the fourth of July (and my birthday.. and Melissa's birthday!!!)
Melissa... Thanks! You wouldn't believe how many pics I have. And with digital, they're pretty much all keepers because I junk the ones that don't turn out great. I think we have almost 300!! And, no no no, I don't call him a walker yet! He'll take up to 15 steps, but still likes to crawl or be held. He's gettin' there, but still not quite yet! Boys just seem to be slower at all that, huh?! Is Hunter talking at all yet? Eli doesn't say ANYTHING! He's just so quiet... besides his goose calls! |

Goose calls???? HA!! Hunter loves to make this high pitch ear splitting something. As for talking, not a whole lot. He says Mama, Dadie, Babie, ABCD (which means, I want to watch Elmo's World), Boom Boom (which means, dad, bounce me on your knee singing the John Phillip Sousa March), Hi, Hooray. Hunter will walk as long as you are holding on to his hands or if he is walking holding on to something. I guess they will both be talking before you know it!
Okay, question for all mommies...how on earth do I get Hunter to take a sippy cup? or even yet, get rid of this darn binkie? We give him a sippy cup and he throws it at us. The doctor advised us to eliminate both before the roof of his mouth developes (15-18 months). He's very much like his mother, does things on his terms. |

I'm doing well on induction, I think. I haven't weighed myself (trying not to do that too much!), but I 'feel' a tiny bit lighter. Funny, huh? LOL... We went to a cookout Sunday night, and there were tons of non-LC items, including cookies (my ultimate weakness). Both DH and I did great.. probably the worst thing we ate was some of the 5 layer dip which had some refried beans in it. I had a small spoonful of that. Not for induction, but I wanted to try it. I brought deviled eggs, so I ate plenty of those, cheeseburger without a bun, and cheese. I know I needed more veggies, but all they had was corn on the cob.. otherwise it went well. And those cookies sat and taunted me ALL night. ![]() Dawn, those pics are great! I'm glad you had such a great time!!! We love WDW, but haven't been since Christmas. DH and I used to go at least once a month, sometimes every weekend. I can't wait to get back. Even if Alison doesn't know what's going on yet, I need to get there for me! That "first haircut" is SO cute! I'll have to remember that for when it's Alison's turn. We only live an hour away, so that would be fun. Mommies, I have a question... a "What would you do?" question.. Last night, I met DH and friends for dinner after they saw Star Wars (I stayed home with Alison). It was about 1/2 hour away. Well, on the way home, Alison started screaming. After a few minutes (I wanted to see if she'd stop, and there was nowhere to pull over), I pulled over, gave her the pacifier, stroked her head and talked to her to calm her down, then started driving again. About two minutes later, she spit out her pacifier and started screaming again. I let her cry again for a few minutes, trying to get home as fast as possible. She was screaming so bad, I was afraid she'd make herself sick, so I pulled over again. I spent a few minutes talking to her, calming her down, giving her the pacifier again (which at first she wouldn't take she was screaming so hard). When I started driving again, she cried AGAIN, but stopped after a minute or so. I think she finally wore herself out, because she was asleep when I got home. I didn't want to take her out of her seat since I knew if I did that, then put her back in to finish driving home, she'd be more upset. I just wanted to get her home where I could tend to feeding and changing her. I felt like a bad mommy letting her cry, but 10 pm at night is not a good time to stop on Fletcher Ave. to tend to a crying baby. ![]() When I got home, I changed her, DH fed her, and she was content. But I felt like she hated me for a little while. ![]() |

Hey Dawn! We're not sure if we're heading up to Lake Nebagamon again. DH is going to Moab, Utah with his Dad in July so I doubt we'll be making another trip. I do want to go to Door County, though, maybe in the fall. Does it count that I am going to a purse party in Milwaukee next week?
Glad you guys had such a good time at WDW. We are definitely going to take Kelsey next year. I'll have to remember you guys went in May. Sounds like a good time to go as far as crowds and all that.Hi Melissa! It seems like it took Kelsey forever to take a sippy cup!! I just kept giving it to her and if she threw it then I would put it away and just try again next meal. At first I had to take the stoppers out so that she could figure out that liquid actually came out of the darn thing. Then my DH would drink out of one at dinner a few nights in a row so she could see someone doing it. Sounds crazy but that seemed to help. She wanted to "be like daddy" and try the cup. The only ones that she really liked at first were the Avent Toddler Sippy's...I think because they don't have to suck as hard and more liquid comes out. As far as the pacifier goes, she really gave that up on her own at about 6 months. I don't really remember how but she just stopped taking it and so we didn't push it. I have read if you snip the end of the paci off with scissors and then give it to them but say, Uh Oh..it's broken, then they can try and suck on it but it doesn't work. Maybe that will help?

Dar:
That happened to me sooooo many times! I was always driving like 45 minutes to get to my parent's house on the weekends while DH was working and Kelsey would always cry. Heck, she still cries sometimes cuz she hates her carseat. I think you did the right thing by just wanting to get her home. I know it's hard but they have to learn that in the car, they stay in the car seat until we get to the destination. Unless they are sick or you can see that they need you immediately I would have done exactly what you did. |

Dar- To be honest, I would have done what you did. If there wasn't anything "wrong" with her, than she was just being fussy..... Andrew and I have driven 1/2-45 mins with Hunter being like that on my way to my parents house. I hated doing it, but there wasn't anything we could do. Was she in her carseat the time time at the restaurant? She might have had enough of that chair :-)

Summer- I bought the sippy cups with the soft spout and no "stoppers" so all he needs to do is suck and there is his milk... We had him pretty much with a binkie only at bedtime before, but when we took his bumper pad off, he relized he could reach into the crib and get them out. Now, he walks around with one is in mouth and one or two in each hand. Maybe I just need to make the binkie's dissapear and it will be one problem solved. When he sleeps, he never has the binkies in his mouth...he only fall asleep with them.

Dawn- Welcome back.....and of course we missed you!!! Love all the pictures!!! I totally want to go now!!! Job.....well, I decided to get a job part time to help out with the bills....so I start at Kohls on Thurs (I worked retail for 13 years prior to babies HAHA) So it is just a PT night and weekend job, so hubby will be at home with the kiddos!!
Mel- Thanks for the kick in the butt with the water....I need it today!!! I will be watching you Sippy cup....I would just let him play with it a bit, maybe change a bottle to a sippy for one of his afternoon bottle feedings, when he figures out he can get milk out of a different cup he might be more interested!!.......Braden wouldn't have a sippy until after his 1st birthday AND he had his pacifier till after he was 2!! Just give him some time. I actually gave Madison a sippy to "play" with and she drinks out of it when she can get a handle on it!!! i couldn't believe it, must be a difference in boys and girls....us girls are much mire indepenent!!!! HAHADar- I would have done the same thing......I hate that feeling, but you can only do what you can do, sounds like she just may have been tired and having a hard time settling!!! She is fine now and she knows that you take care of her!!! *hugs* |

Thanks, guys. Normally, letting her cry wouldn't bother me as much, but she was screaming that god awful scream, you know?
Melissa, no, she was in my arms most of the time at the restaurant, since she had to eat. She gets so warm in her car seat, especially when she's crying. I made sure she was uncovered on the car ride home, but she was still sweaty when I got home, she had worked herself into such a frenzy.. Does Hunter ask for his binky at all? Sounds like if they just disappear, he may not notice? |

Dar- Then she just didn't want to be in that thing :-) I hate how they get so warm in those things. Hunter has never asked for his binkie at all, it's just always been around. I'm thinking we might make them dissapear one at a time (gosh knows he must have about 6 laying around) and maybe within a week or two have him off of them. (I never thought of that "dissapearing" act)

GOSH!!! I'm loving all these pictures!
DAR - Anna was the same way... She HATED her car seat... As funny as it sounds, I think it was mainly that it was rear facing... She improved over time (I guess she figured that crying was getting her nowhere... I just couldn't do anything for her... I figured the best plan was to get there as fast as I safely could.), but didn't start enjoying car rides until we put her in the forward facing seat. Ezra, on the other hand, will scream until I start driving. His crying only lasts a minute or two. I love her picturest though. SARAH - I love the camo!!!! LMAO! He's getting so darned big!!! CHELSEA - I responded over in the preggo thread, but I'm loving the Daddy gamer pic! BETH - Congrats! I'd love to do the same thing, but could only do weekends... Hank works too late at night. AMES - Grant is getting so big... He's such a handsome little man! DAWN - What a big boy!!! He looks so grown up in his haircut pics! I need to cut the back of Anna's hair too. MELISSA - Savor every non-walking moment... Anna walked at 9 months (she was taking steps before then, but not actually walking across a room...), and now she's moved on to climbing. She can officially climb on top of her changing table now... ![]() HEY SUMMER!!! I need to do something VERY low cost for Father's Day and Hank's birthday... I don't suppose there are any creative types in here, huh??? I need help! LOL!
