I've been low-carbing for one year and breastfeeding the whole time. I have been warned by lots of folks not to do it, but I can't see how eliminating sugar and white flour and such from my diet is going to hurt my baby. In fact, he's quite plump and healthy, according to his doctor. He also doesn't seem to mind the taste of my milk whether I'm eating lots of garlic or hot spicy food, or whether I'm in ketosis. I say, use your best judgement. Take cues from your baby. If your milk supply decreases or if your baby stops nursing, I would consider adding more healthy carbs. Good luck.

Thanks! That makes me feel a little better
He is 10 months old. I am now starting to indtroduce a lot of solids and he's snacking a lot on gerber crackers and puffs. I figure by now he can get all of his carbs from that and be ok. I would definately adjust something if it affected my milk supply. I would rather breastfeed longer and hold off on my weightloss goals. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed ![]() |

Although there isn't anything that says you can't bf and nurse at the same time. There are many woman that notice their milk supply go down dramatically.
