Losing the Baby Fat ~ Thursday, May 19th
Hi ladies! I finally got some good sleep and no food poisoning! I was able to feed Grant twice before I headed to bed with a catnap in between and then he ate twice tonight too. Hope he continues to cooperate, because I think this is going to work better than what we were doing the last few weeks.
Dar - I wore maternity pants for a while after Grant was born too. Fortunately, I kept all my fat pants so I have something to wear going back to work. But I am looking forward to getting back into my 12's as right now I'm in 16's too. Someday I hope to get to a size 8 again after I'm done having babies. We'll see though. I've heard that some women's bodies change shape and they never get into their smallest size again. As for returning to work...I was ready! The hardest part for me was and still is getting back into the midnight work/sleep routine. One thing I've found is that I appreciate Grant more. I'm not cut out for SAHM status and I was getting a bit rundown and bored with the whole thing. Now I look forward to seeing him when I get home in the morning and love to get up and feed him and play with him in the evening, instead of trying to hand him off to the first person available after being home alone with him all day. Now it's my husband doing that, LOL! Boodsadel - Have fun at Disney. My husband and I went last year and had a blast. I don't know how busy it is this time of the year, but we went in February and never had to wait in line. Although, the plane was pretty full going, and coming back. So I think next time we go will be in October. A co-worker goes every other October and claims that is the best time for weather, no crowds, and flying standby as an airline employee. Dedivah - Rob and Amber met on the reality series "Survivor" and they were also on "Amazing Race" recently. Their wedding is going to be on TV next week. LivnLGNOmore - I would consider anything that isn't a natural whole food a "frankenfood". The only "frankenfoods" I use on a regular basis are protein powder, Davinci syrup and splenda. Great job on the 17 lb loss! Trolly - Grant doesn't take, nor has he ever taken long naps. My poor husband can't get anything done during the day! I guess he is taking after his mommy. I wouldn't take naps when I was little either. My grandma would hold me down kicking and screaming till I wore myself out to take a nap. I guess I felt I was gonna miss something important. BrattyChelle - Sorry you didn't get to work out. Good job on staying strong with the McDonald's. Does that new Diet Coke have the asulfemate K sweetener in it with the splenda? I'd like to try it, but anything with that asulfemate K gives me headaches. Hi - blueyedgrl, joye2world, Friendship, GetNSlim, ChristieJ, Mrs Sarah, Tracy, babyblue, Bmmommy, and farmgirl! Have a great day everyone! Ames

Just got back from pumping and now I've got a question for you ladies that breastfed and pumped.....Is there such a thing as a second let-down?
Since my supply was waning a bit at the end of my last work stretch I decided to pump an extra time on my nights off and pump longer. After about 10 minutes the spray stopped, and I would only get drops out after that. But if I kept pumping, at about the 20 minute mark I would start spraying again and get a few more ounces fairly quicky. I thought this was pretty cool. Oh, and it must have help bring my supply up, because my first night back at work I got 11oz out at my first pumping and 6oz out at my second compared to the 10-14oz total I was getting out last week. Just curious if any of you experienced this? I wonder why you would get another let-down if your breast is already drained. Scientific minds want to know. Ames |

Ames- Yes, there is such thing as a second letdown :-) It happened to me a lot near the middle of my BF/Pumping Life. I can't give you a scientific explaination, but I can just tell you that it happened to me alot.
Okay, I'll be back when I get to work, but I just wanted to ask everyone to cross you fingers or whatever for Andrew. As most of you know we are waiting for Home Depot to set up exams, which they haven't hey. But, Andrew found out the HR Manager in his HD that is he is working part time for (about 1/2 mile down the road) is moving to SanFran, so that slot is opening. This would be the short-term answer to our financial issue. It won't help me move closer to my family, but heck, I can't have both at once :-) I'm willing to settle on paying off debt and then buying a house in NH when we have more $$. Andrew is calling the interum store manager (who is also waiting for the test so that he can take the position fully) to see if he has any updates!!! |

Hey Ladies...
No time for real personals but to all the new mommies..Sorry I'm MIA but as Tracy posted I got rushed to the hospital on Thursday. Anyways I have Crohn's disease, which sort of explains my weight issues/ how fast I loose and all sorts of things. Anyways, I am better now and yesterday I had some more test done to figure out how "bad" it is. I miss ALL YOU GUYS SOMETHING FIERCE!!!! Tracy- Thanks for thinking of me and emailing me, it really made my day! To all you ladies...thanks for your thoughts and I will come back on once I am caught up at work and not such an emotional mess. I'm not sure how much of a support I am right now. But.. CONGRATS TO ALL YOU LOOSERS!! The baby pics are wonderful and so cute!! Cynthia

Hi Ladies!
I have no kiddos today except for my own! Judson has his 3 month check up today. Elliott is pretty worried about his brother getting shots. He really loves his brother. Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well, hope it keeps up! I need to start my h2o, I'm running late with it this a.m. Anyone going to watch CSI or ER tonight? I can't wait, but ER will be so sad. Dr. Carter was just on the today show, and I've started crying already- I'm such an idiot! talk to ya later

Liz- Oh, cute morning pictures! Good luck at the appointment! I haven't watched any of this season of CSI so I think I will skip it and then when this season is released on DVD rent it off of Netflix. Today should be a normal day at work, just trying to catch up on my spreadsheet and hopefully will have time to hop on eBay and list my auctions that I need to put up. (Gosh, I am SO bad here). Chelle- If you get some cheaper forms of meat, and pound them, it makes them more tender. Andrew and I have been known to do that once in awhile. Chicken thighs/wings are normally cheap. I'll keep thinking for you, if you want some more ideas, try PM'ing Andrew (Exelis) He is the king when it comes to our cooking and does a lot with nothing when we have to.

Good morning ladies!! Just wanted to jump on here real quick before I grabbed breakfast and did my household chores before Meia comes!!! Hubby slept downstairs on the couch with Jonathan so I got 6 straight hours of SLEEP!!! I'm feeling good today!! Nothing new on the scale...! I'm thinking I might go back to the BFL eating because I was actually seeing a loss and then when I went back to Atkins I have been stalled since. I dunno, maybe Atkins just isn't gonna work this time around. I just really liked the idea of being able to eat full fat things instead of reduced fat things...but I guess if that is what I have to do to lose weight than I'll do it!! Workouts are going great. Weather was PERFECT yesterday and by the looks of it it is gonna be a great day today too!!
Ames-Sorry I can't help with the "second letdown" topic since I never pumped!! Just wanted to say hello and I'm glad you got more sleep!! Melissa-I'll be praying for Andrew. I'm sure everything will turn out for the best!! Chelle-WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO, Chelle gets to chat today!!! Can't say I'll be on very much...but I'll try to jump on every so often today and reply to stuff everyone is saying!!*hugs* Sorry I can't really give you advice on "cheap" recipes...I don't usually spend very much at the store so I guess all of my recipes are cheap!LOL I just buy what I can and only eat the stuff that is Atkins friendly! Cyn-Oh, we've all missed you so much!! I'm so happy you're feeling better. Did you know you had Chron's when you went to the hospital or was it diagnosed when you were there??? I'll be praying (have been) for you!! |

Hi, Beth, what do you get at Starbucks that is low carb??
Oh, and Chelle, that is another thing I liked better about Atkins...I can eat MUCH cheaper on it than BFL...oh I'm sooooooo confused. I don't know what to do! |

HEY GIRLIES!!!
Man... I cannot wait for this newborn phase to be over... How terrible is that? He's the light of my life, but I just can't wait to get a full night's sleep. LOL! Actually, things should get easier when summer rolls around. Then I won't have to get up and make Allison's lunch and get her off to school too. Today we take him to get him snipped... I'm so nervous. I know I shouldn't be, but I've never had a boy, so I don't know what to expect. Some Jewish friends of mine are telling me that the Rabbi/Moyel will be much gentler than a doctor, but still... Mommies worry. CYNTHIA - OH MAN! I'm sorry that you were in the hospital... UGH. How are you feeling today? AMES - I've had a second letdown when I've been able to pump for 20 minutes or more. LIZ - Those pictures are too cute!!! CHELLE - WOO HOO on the days off! Hope you get your workout! Cheap meats? Some of my staples are pork shoulder (when it's on sale... Just got some for $.59/lb), chicken leg quarters (I can get a 10 pound bag for around $4), or chicken thighs (they're on sale right now for $.59/lb). I also will buy the whole chickens from Wal-Mart. They're always $.67/lb. Other than that, I just check prices. Chicken is the easiest thing in the world for me to bake. I season it differently each time... Sometimes just with garlic salt and pepper, sometimes with cilantro and lime and olive oil, sometimes with Tony Chacheres. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 45 minutes, and it's good! As for veggies, there's a local Mexican grocery store that has great deals on produce. And they have thier milk for $.49/half gallon if you spend $10. So, you can't beat that. A lot of people tease me because I go to different stores for different things, but they're all nearby, and I think I save a lot that way. MELISSA - I'll be praying for you and Andrew! I know you guys could use this! BETH - I'm a total Starbucks nut. If I had the money, I'd go there everyday. VANESSA - I can't speak for Beth, but I get one of two things. If I'm on more of a maintenance level... I go for a Grande Heavy Whipping Cream Latte w/ 2 Splendas. If I'm not, then I go for a Grande Drip and tell them to put an inch of heavy cream in it.

Oh, Liz, so very sorry, didn't mean to miss you (again, did it yesterday too)!!! Those pics are so cute!!LOL I can't every get all three of my little kidlettes to stay still for a pic together!! Hope you have a great, fun day with just your kids!!
Jenn-Hey, girl, we've missed you!!! Oh my gosh, are you gonna watch him be snipped?? I couldn't do that. In Wyoming our Peds do the circs (in some states the OB/GYNs do, or used to) and they are much less gruesome as they used to be...my doctor was just telling me stories about it this last time when we had Jonathan circed! Okay, here is my question for the day. So, heavy cream has 1 carb per 2 tbsp. How many TBSP are in a 1/4 c.?? Cause if I used whole milk and divided the carbs up there would only be 3 c. in a 1/4 c. Heavy cream is still dairy, so it is lactose in it...I guess I'm just confused as to why we can't use whole milk??? Anyone know?? |

Heavy cream doesn't have near as much lactose. And actually, if you look in FitDay, I believe that HC only has 6c per cup... So that would be... 1.5g per 1/4c. I believe that's it anyway.
Here, a lot of peds and OB/GYNs do it too... I'm just opting to have a Rabbi do it after some research. |

It's okay Vanessa... I knew you weren't... I just know a lot of people don't go this route... I was just explaining... LOL! Actually... This was one of the few places I was pretty sure I wouldn't get flamed. Some people want to act like you're gonna hack the boy's foot off when you talk about circs...
And I don't know if I can watch or not... I know that he'll do it with Hank holding him. Then they want me to nurse him right after. And I still need to go to the store and get some gauze and antibiotic ointment. |

Jenn!!! We didn't have PJ snipped until he was 6 months old. He had hypospadis so they waited until they surgically fixed his penis to circumcise him. We had no problems with recovery/healing of the circ site...but I did make ex-hubby handle the gauze removal as I just couldn't bare it. Looking back that was probably very hard for him cuz he wasn't circ'd and the whole man issue seeing his son that way.Keeping lil Ezra and you in thoughts! |

Morning ladies!
I have to say I'm excited. I've finished 3 days of the soup diet and I'm down 4 pounds! Ames - I can SO relate to not being wired to be a SAHM. I love my little man to death, and weekends are awesome, but I need that adult interaction too! And I do agree that some time apart makes you appreciate them more. It's like ANY "relationship", isn't it? Hi Chelle! Hooray for your day off today, and tomorrow! Do you have any plans for your time off, or just gonna take it easy and enjoy your family? Melissa, I'm crossing my fingers for you and Andrew that things work out with that HR job. Welcome back, Cyn! I'm sorry you've had a rough time lately. I'm glad things are under control now and I hope they can keep you regulated and free from discomfort! Morning Liz! Poor Judson. I'm sure he'll take his shots like a champ though. That's so sweet of Elliot to worry about him. After seeing pics of Judson, I can't believe he's only 3 months old! He has so much hair!!! Elliot's a cutie, too.I don't watch CSI or ER. I do have 3 guilty pleasures, but that's about all the TV I watch - Desperate Housewives, 24 and Idol. Of course I'll be obsessed with Big Brother when it comes back in July, too. Morning Beth! Those Starbucks gift cards would be burning a hole in my pocket, too! I dunno what it is about a 4 dollar sugar free vanilla latte, but it beats any coffee I'd ever make myself! Vanessa - I'm sorry you're stalled again, but boy can I relate! For me, I found that I did need to "change it up" to get the scale moving, but I'm a lot further from my goal than you are. As long as you're not gaining, and you're losing inches and getting toned (as we've seen in your pictures), why deprive yourself on another WOE? Hi Jenn! You are a super-hero! As if you're not busy enough with 2 babies, you also have to get up to get Allison off to school! How long until she's on summer break?I never had Carter snipped, so I can't tell you firsthand that Ezra will be fine, but plenty of boys have it done every day without complication, so hopefully it'll be easy breezy. Hope everyone has a great Thursday! Only one more day till FRIDAY! Christie

Hi Beth!!
Hi Vanessa- Do you think you are eating enough carbs? With all the working out, you probably require more carbs then say I do. Hi Jenn- Good luck today, Hunter isn't circed so I can't give you any reassurance, but I'm sure he will be fine. Oh gosh, forgot my mustard...oh well, good thing the cafe downstairs has packets. |

Nope, my time off will be spent caring for Elana and helping hubby as he works days tomorrow then flips tomorrow to 3rd shift...ugghhh. Then, I work sat/sun and he has to care for Elana after working an 8 hour night before he can sleep. Going to be an interesting weekend! IF I have a chance, maybe tonight...I hope to finally get my nails painted LOL. This is the FIRST time in my life my nails are strong and at a decent length. |
