Losin' the Baby Fat - wednesday May 18

just getting it started today. again, darn shift keys not working on this ol' laptop.

i seriously need to start losin' the baby fat myself. i have no clothes i can wear right now except maternity pants, since i got rid of all of my large clothes when i lost weight. i need my old 16's right about now, all i have are mostly 14's and 12's. and i was so out of shape at agility class.

and i can't believe dena's already talking sex. that's the last thing i have any interest in right now. good thing, i guess, seeing as how dh never has any interest.

sorry i'm so bad on personals. i'll make up for it in the future, not to worry.

Hi Mommies~

I haven’t posted much on the boards in quite a while, but I’m ready to lose this baby fat! I've been lurking around the thread for a while & hope that I can join you guys.

My name is Emily & I had a baby boy, Reilly Grant, on March 23. I also have a DD, Mackenzie, who is 4 & will be 5 in July. I gained a ton of weight with this last pregnancy (I swore I wouldn’t after gaining so much when preg with Mackenzie, but I still ended up gaining around 70 lbs this time – wow, that is hard to admit & seems like so much! ) I lost 30 lbs of it in the first 16 days, but still had poor eating habits & the loss stopped (I even gained back 5lbs or so in the month after that ) As of this morning, I'm down 31.4 lbs since Reilly was born.

So, now I'm ready to get serious about losing it & be accountable (I hope! ) In the year prior to getting pregnant with Reilly, I had lost around 80 lbs on Atkins (left-over baby fat from my pregnancy with Mackenzie.) I swore that I was going to continue eating healthy throughout the pregnancy & had the best of intentions, but once I started eating bad things again, it was a slippery slope & I couldn't seem to stop.

So, that's my sad little story.

A bit more about me: My DH has been in the Army & we'll be married for 10 years this coming September. We're currently stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina & lived in Germany for 3.5 years prior to moving here last December. I'm a SAHM & haven't worked since I had Mackenzie (I was a medical assistant in my "previous life.")

I'm looking forward to chatting with & getting to know you all!

Hi ladies. Sorry not much time or energy for personals this morning as I have thunderstorms to deal with for Minneapolis today. But I have to agree with Dar....I can't believe you are thinking about sex already Dena! I've thought about it, but my episiotomy area has just recently been feeling normal and with the spotting the other day I'm so scared of getting pregnant I think I'll wait till my sweetie is beggin' me for some. blueyedgrl! You'll like this group of chatty girls.

Well, I'm sitting here hoping and praying that I don't get food poisoning. I guess the lack of sleep is catching up with me. I did a bit of cooking last night and filled the dishwasher afterwards and could have sworn I turned it on. I even told my husband yesterday morning that if he got a chance, to empty it since I had quite a few more dishes to put in and I didn't want them piling up. Well, he didn't get a chance until I was eating suppper tonight. As he was putting them away he became suspicious that I hadn't run the load as many of them were still wet. It wasn't till he had most of them put away and I had used a few of them that he found a dish that had food on it still (we rinse before we load so it's hard to tell). Well, I had made deviled eggs last night, so I'm hoping the dishes I re-used didn't have mayo on them. Please Lord, don't let me get sick. My saving grace might be that I actually use a bit of soap when I'm rinsing really bad dishes.

Speaking of lack of sleep....had another crappy day of that too. Got 3 hours before I was up and couldn't go back to sleep. I layed there for 2 1/2 hours with restless legs, feeling hot, feeling cold, feeling like I have to pee, stomach growling, mind going a million miles an hour.....sleep just wasn't happening. So I got up and ate since I was starving by this time. Tried to lay back down a few hours later....no luck after another hour. Got up again for a few hours. Finally, after making a trip to the bathroom and just about passing out I finally went back to bed and got another measly hour of sleep before I had to get up to get ready for work. I can't keep doing this. Tomorrow, I'm gonna try to pump right before going to bed instead of feeding him once during the day and see if I can get at least 6 or 7 straight hours of sleep. This 4-5 of broken up sleep ain't cutting it. I hope that Grant will at least feed twice in the morning and twice in the evening on me though....I don't want to become a slave to the pump and I don't want my supply to drop. I value my time feeding him too, so I hope he cooperates.

If I can stick with my eating plan this week I'll weigh at the beginning of next week. I'm trying the Carb Addicts diet again. I did well with that a few years back and really liked it before stalling and switching to Atkins....so hopefully I can at least lose 10-15 pounds on it. The last time I weighed I was a half pound below siggy, but that was after my first week back at work when I had no appetite. I feel kind of fat this week, so that's why I'm waiting to weigh...probably from my phantom TOM.

Well, back to work. I'll try to get started doing personals soon...I promise!

Ames

Hi Mommies!

So sorry I did not get a chance to post again yesterday- I can't keep up! The girls, Dh and family keep me so busy, not to mention my new teaching schedule- I did teach for my new boss yesterday and she said I was "outstanding" and could not believe it was the 1st time I taught step! That made me feel so much better!

Boods- Diseny- I love it- PLEASE do Chef Mickey's. We used to try to go at 5 pm on a weekday night, or have "brunch" at 13:30 or 11 am- It is great food and all the characters come to your table. Breakfast at Cinderella's castle is wonderful, but I don't know if Eli is into Princesses. Other advice- We got there right when the park opened- there is an opening ceremony where Mickey arrives on the train- my girls went nuts! If you can get a list of the rides you like, try to hit the longer lines first- The race track one is a biggy- Swing an immediate right through tomorrow land and try to get there 1st. Hit The space roller coaster (can't remember the name?) there, too.The Dumbo ride is THE LONGEST line in the park-go there early. Small world, tea cups and the carosel move fast, so we did those a lot. Daddy would even stand in line at the tea cups and I would pass him the girls when he got close enough. They are Gracie's most favorite ride. We rented a double stroller, Gracie walked a lot, but it was nice to have room to carry things in. The stroller rental is nice- they have a place to park them while you ride stuff and they even kind of "watch" them- I would not leave a camera or anything, though.
The food has gotten better in recent years- last time I went I was LCing and I had a giant turkey leg in frontierland- they are famous at Disney. Most restaurants have nice salads and sandwiches, too. I did pack yogurt for my picky Gracie, and crakery snacks for Elle so I didn't have to buy everything. Ride the Ferry, the monorail, the train, take the jungle cruise, swiss family robinson- these are all things my nephew loved.

ok- I'll have to come back later- i have CPR class today and I need to get going!

see ya'll-

Joye

Dawn....I have to echo Joye's sentiment about doing Chef Mickeys...it's a MUST!! However, I'd call Disney Reservations and get that reservation made...some places with characters fill up 3 months in advance unless you go on an "off" day.

My ex and I are HUGE Disney fans and held annual passes for years since we live so close. We'd literally drive over, go into the park/resort for dinner and drive home with PJ. We practically lived there. Joye has given you some great advice...also, if you are staying on Disney property, take advantage of which park is opening earliest. That gives you some time to get acclamated and decide your day before the park gets swamped. Also...I personally would not recommend the Fast Passes if you are eligible for them. They simply make your day more chaotic trying to return back to that ride when it's time. I'm odd, I'm a fan of waiting in line...you meet very interesting people that way Plus it gives you time to soak in the "MAGIC"!!! And don't miss the Peter Pan ride across from It's a Small World! I'm a nut, I love the more childlike rides more than the roller coasters, etc. LOL As for snacks, PJ was a Disney child from 6 weeks on...and we always packed crackers, trail mix, juice boxes, etc. We always took our own stroller but only because it was padded and more comfy. Plus, the transport systems have room to take them (monorail, buses) and everywhere else has "stroller stations". Have a blast!!

ETA: I almost forgot...a big secret most people to the Magic Kingdom don't know about!!! When you enter the park, there's kind of a "town hall" area just as you pass beneath/through the train station. There's a large building to the RIGHT (can't remember name of it)...it has a souvenier shop in the front, but if you keep walking towards the back of it, there are usually characters hanging out back there greeting guests!! There's also characters across the town square from there next to City Hall, back in a park like area by the restrooms. And of course, across from Winnie the Pooh's ride, used to be 20,000 leagues under the sea....watch for characters there too!
*sigh* I need to get back there sometime soon!!

Just a morning drive by while Hunter eats breakfast, then I need to get Andrew up, get ready for work, run by the Post office and then will be at work (good thing work is only 7 miles away!)

Anyway, I hope I don't jinx myself, but someone slept thru the night last night!!!!!!!!!! I think I might be able to look at an Excel spreadsheet today and not wonder what to do!

Liz- Most of my immediate family lives in Sanford (by Wells/Ogunquit beach). I have one uncle that lives in Calais and one in Belfast, but immediate is all down in southern Maine. We are having our family reunion this year, but they decided to do it in Sanford also, I know the last one was in Deere Isle...which would have been cool again this year, but at least now I can stay with my parents instead of renting a room at a bed and bath. As for digital cameras, I recommend the Cannon line. I think it is the Cannon A75, at Wal-Mart it is only $180.00 I think. I have the Cannon A95 and I think that Sarah has the G series one.

Dar- You'll loose that weight fast!!! I know I kicked myself for getting rid of all my "fat" cloths, so I've kept my buying to a minimum...hopefully I'll be able to fit into those 14's soon...... I would love to be in my cute button- up shorts by at least my birthday if possible......As for personals, you have a little one to look after, don't worry about hitting each and every one of us.

Welcome Emily!!!!- My name is Melissa, my little on Hunter just turned 1 this month.

Ames- Oh, hope you get some more sleep girl. Hope the pumping before sleeping works out for you.

Chelle- I love that picture. Knowles must have been so happy when he got it at work last night.

Joye- Sounds like your teaching is taking off!! Congrats!!!

B- LC Yogurt
S- String Cheese
L- Terriyaki Chicken

Thanks, guys. I know I can lose it, I've just been kind of lazy. DH wanted to start induction this week, but I held us back.

Speaking of starting induction.. our favorite used to be steak. Well, when I got pg, I couldn't really stand it anymore. I figured that would go away after delivery. It really hasn't. I don't know what's up with that.. but I used to LOVE steak.

Chelle, Caena did great.. like she never left. I, on the other hand, was pretty slow! LOL... Unfortunately, when i got home, dh was freaking out at me because he hadn't had a chance to eat dinner.. blah blah blah. I wasn't really sympathetic, either. Molly will go to class tonight.

Ok, girls, one more thing. I'm returning to work next week. Any tips to make it easier for me, mentally????????

Dar- I bet your hormones are still out of wack. It took me a couple months to really get back into chocolate (which was one thing I couldn't eat while pregnant, made me sick to even smell). As for going back to work, the first day is always the worst. I know DH is watching her, is there anyway that he can bring her in during your lunch as you get used to going to work everyday?

Morning gals... Great night of sleep last night.. Eli slept til just about 8:00! I think he's getting over a little something. I stayed up til midnite last night making a sling for my sister and little Ivy. I copied the one I got a couple weeks ago, and I'm SOOOOO happy with it! Now I'll have to make more for myself... you know, so I can coordinate! (yes, I'm so the Martha!)

Chelle/Joye... THANKS for all the tips! So are there characters at Chef Mickeys for all meals? That's at a hotel, isn't it? Which one? Cinderellas is a must for DH (he loves their food), but not at a character meal, obviously. Chelle.. is that the Kodak photo center you're talking about? I think it is.. with Goofy sitting on a bench in front (statue)... I CAN'T WAIT!!!! 4 DAYS......

Dar... I didn't get going on dieting until 2 or 3 months after Eli made his big debut... I mean, I didn't even THINK about it! You'll get there. I know, I was wearing those dang maternity pants forever. I still don't wear all my pants.. I think my body shape just really changed... Hang in there!

Emily... Great to see ya come out of lurkdom! We require lots of pics!!!

Ames... I bet you're fine if you rinsed them with soap. Don't you just hate those sleepless nights? My mind gets the best of me many nights....

Melissa.. So are we gonna go out and get drinks for OUR birthday this year?!?! (I think we had the July 5th conversation on here... but I don't recall it was your birthday, too!!! I know it's also Cyn and Tracy's anniversarys too... and PJ's birthday.. what else??!!)

Is it possible that nobody's posted for an hour?! I wonder how many will come up before I finish typing....

Hi ladies,

Kristen - Alexander IS getting big! Hope your client visit goes well today.

Liz - I can't help with a camera recommendation, but I'm curious what you end up with. We're kinda in the market for a new one, too.

Dar - I know that feeling. I got rid of all my "big" clothes when I lost weight the first time. There's no way I'm buying new ones so people will just have to get used to the fact that I wear a lot of items over and over while I work to get into my smaller stuff. Don't even worry about not wanting sex either. It took me 2 months after my c-section and I was scared the first couple times! I'm pretty amazed by Dena, too! Less than 2 weeks!

Welcome Emily! This is a great group of women and we can all relate! Are you doing Atkins again? It may be slower this time around, but we know it works!

Ames - I'm sure you'll be fine with the dishes if they were rinsed with hot water, and you didn't lick your plate or anything. I think your chances of getting sick are pretty slim. Hope you get your sleep situation resolved soon.

Morning Chelle! Adorable pic of Elana last night. We're all looking forward to your "weekend" as much as you are. We miss you when you're gone during the day!

Hi Joye. That's awesome on your 1st step class. That sounds like a very rewarding thing to do! Fun, exercise, leadership, and social interaction all in one!

You guys have me longing to go to Disney World now! I've never been, and I haven't been to DisneyLAND since I was a kid (though I understand it doesn't compare.)

Morning Melissa and MARTHA - Glad you both got a good night's sleep! Isn't it funny how that's a big focus on our daily conversations? It's amazing what lack of sleep will do a person!

Morning Vanessa! Is the weather better today? Gonna get a chance to go outside? It's really really disgusting here today... almost makes being at work not so bad.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Christie

Mornign All!!

I'm always so frickin behind! Atleast it's not on page 2 yet.

So who's Rob and Amber????

Darlene ~ Wanna trade hubbies for a while? I didn't think about dieting until January 2005 and DD was born in July 2004 and even then I didn't really get on it until February after I weaned her from the breast. You'll get there, don't stress.

Emily ~ Your story sounds a lot like mine but with smaller numbers here and bigger numbers there. And I only wish I was a SAHM! Looking forward to getting to know you!

Chelle ~ I know you've been through this before but What's up with the lawyer and EEOC thing??

Dh and I were at Disney this past August for our honeymoon and we Fast Passed it all the way we loved not having to wait in lines! The only time we did not Fast Pass it we were in linf for 2 hours! Then it started to rain and they temporarily closed that ride, then we had to wait another 30-35min to get on a ride that last all of 2 minutes!!!! Okay maybe 3.5 minutes. We met this couple that were married the same day that we were in the line.

We are going back next July for 2 weeks with my sister, BIL and her 3 boys. This time I am hitting Universal Studios!

Joye ~ Congrats! We knew you'd do a great job.

Vanessa ~ Hi!!! (big waves)

Cynthia ~ Come out Come out where ever you are!!!

Breakfast ~ 2 Fried eggs and 2 oz steak
Lunch ~ 1/2 cornish hen and salad with blue cheese dressing
Dinner ~ Ground beef with Dreamfields pasta
Water ~ 16 oz so far
Exercise ~ 30min Walk and Kick

So happy that I'm back to my pre binge weight and I can work on getting back on track.!

Have a great day!

Morning All!

Just a quick 'hello' as I'm off to do 25 million things today. No Jamie today, and Elliott is at school (preschool) . Just Conner and Judson, I may even squeeze in a hair cut this afternoon.

Do many of you guys eat the 'Frakenfoods'? I love the Atkins Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars. I may try going with out any of those types of things for a week and see what happens. I haven't weighed myself yet, still no scale. Maybe I'll go to my mms and steal hers While we're on the 'Frakenfood' subject what do you guys consider those to be? I'm under the impression that it's the bars, candy, shakes, and stuff like that. Does it also mean, the LC ketchup, wraps, salad dressing , and thos ekinds of things?

Alright I'm off! Have a GREAT DAY!!!

Good morning!

Tanner still has a lingering cough and runny nose. I wonder when in the heck that will go away?! Geez. He wakes himself up a lot with coughing fits. Poor guy.

I was down a 1/2 lb this morning despite my indiscretions at lunch yesterday. I was really proud of myself, I didn't cave and do badly for the rest of the day, I ate healthy! Today is my LBWO.

B- LF whole wheat waffles, natural pb, sf syrup, turkey bacon

S- BFL Bar

L- Tuna on whole wheat, apple

S- Pudding cup

D- Maybe leftover stew?

S- Skinny cow ice cream

Hi Colleen. You're doing a great job keeping up - it's impossible at times! I noticed you mentioned 2 oz steak for breakfast...what is that like 1 bite?! I don't think I could stop myself there.

Liz, I don't eat too many low-carb products, nor do I know what is considered a frankenfood and what's not. My opinion is that a low-carb wrap is, but I don't think I'd consider the ketchup or salad dressing in there. I have nothing to go on though, so who knows?

Hi Sarah! Poor Tanner and his cold. I hate to say it, but I think the Carterman had a stuffy nose from October through February, except for the couple of times he was on an antibiotic for an ear infection - as long as he was on antibiotics his cold symptoms would go away, and then as soon as he went off he'd start sniffling again. They can last forever - argh! Just hope he's not miserable! WTG on not letting your lunch ruin your eating for the rest of the day, or even worse the rest of the week!

Hi Colleen- you are doing fine keeping up. Somedays when I don't have time at work to keep up I feel overwhelmed if it is a busy day. We've been not as chatty the past couple of days.

Christie- Yeah, my life does revolve around how much sleep I get....gosh, and to think other things used to be important!

Liz- As for Frankenfoods, I've heard that they can stall people, but I'm not sure what is and what isn't a frankenfood. I know the Atkins bars, chocolate bars, shakes are, but I wouldn't consider the ketchup, etc to be one. Maybe wraps since they are "fillers". I eat a LC Yogurt everyday and maybe it is slowing my weight down a bit, but if I am losing a 1lbs a week I'm still going to enjoy that!

Where are all my ladies at??? Wow, it has been a really quiet week in here! What are you going to do when I'm not here all next week?! (J/K.. you just won't have to hear my countdown anymore!)

Melissa... Yup, my birthday too. I was an hour and 23 minutes away from being a 4th of July baby. Oh well! My mom was sitting on top of their hippy van watching the fireworks when she went into labor!!

Christie.. I'm such a baby when it comes to my sleep. I just don't do well on less than 8 hours! (10 hours is ideal!)

Colleen... We've also always used FastPass, and really liked it, but this time we won't be going on a ton of those rides since we'll have a baby in tote! That's ok.. I'm excited for a more laid back trip. We're just going to let him dictate what we're going to do and when we're going to slow down.

Liz... A haircut with two little ones?? Wow, you must be talented!! I don't do much of the "frankenfoods"... well, especially now that I'm eating BFL.

Sarah... How's everything coming with the benefits? I hope you can get to work at home. That would be so exciting!! Great job on losing even with cheating.. You ROCK!!

Vanessa... How's it going girl? How is the babysitting going for you?

OK.. off to go grocery shopping... BBL!

Hi ladies-

wanted to jump in and say hi! And I miss you all! Keep those pics coming! (Chelle, I am sure that pic made daddy's day)
I am working half days and keeping Katie as MIL has gone to OKC for 11 days. So I am about to leave work now and have a million things to do!

I hope to get to chat with you all soon!

Oh and Cyn wanted me to tell you all that she misses you, she has been sick and in the hospital. She said she would try to come in today and say hi!
Please send well wishes her way!

Have a wonderful day!
