Losin' the baby fat- Tuesday!!! 5/17/2005
Hey mommies,
Guess I am starting this off early this morning.....Hunter is having another one if his mid-night screamings. I waited about 10 mins before going in and he just didn't quiet. I'm not sure what this is all about, but is starting to get regular. I feel like I've stepped 4 months back in time in regards to sleep....anyone have any suggestions? |

Melissa....
hon, which I had some advice for ya.I feel like mental and physical poo today. Lawyer meeting was stressful in itself, then throw in a crying 5 month old on top of it for the entire hour and a half. Get home, and she doesn't stop crying until 10:45pm when she finally passes out. I know it's her teeth, she is getting Tylenol...it just isn't helping enough. I felt so crappy last night that I turned to popcorn I haven't eaten out of emotions in forever and I thought it had become something I had control over. I guess not. My mouth is dry and icky today so I'm definitely going to be pushing the water factor! Also I want to workout when I get home if Elana cooperates. Girl at work has offered me a 3 day guestpass at her gym (all ladies gym) so hubby's going to watch Elana wed/thurs nights so I can go with her then fri. I might go on my own during the day. I look forward to doing some different things.Have a great day mommies....I'm going to try to get some time tonight to do some personals as I know I've neglected that. Please know I'm thinking of you all often! |

Good morning!
Melissa: Kelsey has done the exact same thing. In my favorite book, Touchpoints, by Dr. Brazelton, he says that this often happens right around a physical or mental leap. Is Hunter about to walk or hit another milestone? Usually, it will last for a few weeks and then go back to normal once the child has mastered that milestone. I know Kelsey did it right before she crawled and walked. It will get better! Chelle: Sorry you had a bad day! Just drink your water and get right back on the wagon with us. That free gym pass sounds awesome!I'll have to go back and catch up from the weekend thread and yesterday. I took Kelsey to the park yesterday and she almost nosedived off of one of the platforms that was about 5 feet high. I lurched for her at the last second and caught her by the back of her pants. She was so mad at me! I think maybe she's still a little too young for the playground but I'm not sure. Just seems like everytime we go she has a close call even though I am right there following her around the whole time. I talked to DH about maybe we need to buy a house and make the move to the 'burbs. It would be nice to have a yard for her. I just love, love, love living downtown Chicago, though. I know I would miss it terribly. Hmmm, decisions, decisions. My MIL says that the right decision is usually the hardest one to make, ain't that the truth sometimes! Here are some pics from this weekend. Saturday: Kelsey and my nephew, Parker played on the deck for HOURS. All they were doing was throwing rocks into a bucket of water but they loved it! Notice the butt crack showing everytime she bent over! ![]() These are from my parent's house over the weekend. She loves their yard, especially this stone bunny statue. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Awww Melissa hope it gets better soon!!! So hard when they are not themselves. Summer had some Great ideas as to why it may be happening. *hugs*
Michelle- Hope Elana starts feeling better too!! Hop right back on and drink that water to flush your system, you will be back in no time!!! And hey, popcorn isn't even the worst you could have had!! Lucky you on the pass and hubby watching Elana while you go, that is great!! Summer- Kelsey is sooooo cute!!!! It hink I started Braden on the playgrounds at about 17-18 months, I know what you mean about following them everywhere, it is exhausting and worrying LOL!! He has been at the stage now for a while where I can just peer from the other side and not be holding his hand the whole time, and that is nice and they learn so much. Well, not much here, need to drink my water today. Went to Chilis last night and hubby ordered the BREADED boneless buffalo wings, they are so good, so I just ended up having a garden salad, knew I shoudn't have eaten the wings, oh well!!! I am going out on Saturday night and I need ideas for drinks that I can drink without totally blowing it. Any ideas??? BBL

Hi Beth! Thanks for telling me about Braden. Kelsey is just now 17 months so maybe I'll give it another month or so. I always cave on the boneless buffalo wings at Applebee's so I understand!!!

Morning gals... A little better this morning... 7:30.
Melissa... Man, that is rough.. we just went through that too, and it was definitely teeth. Think he could be getting those nasty molars? Poor thing (both of you ). Chelle... That had to be really tough last night, especially without Knowles. Did something good come of it? You guys have been through so much. I really really hope his job is going to be your answers, and things can get back on track. Summer... Those pictures are just PRECIOUS!!! I LOVE the black and white one! I can't get over how big she looks. It's hard to believe Eli will be at that stage in a few months! (WAAHHHHHH... My baby's going to be a year in less than 2 weeks ). So where do you live now? We try to get to Chicago a couple times a year.. I always wanted to live there when I was in HS, but then life happened.!!!Beth... What about Bacardi Limon with diet Coke or diet Sprite? I love those, and always seem to forget about them! Basically any hard liquor and diet soda is good. Ok.. time to fold laundry.. lets see if I have a little "helper" again! Cyn.. WHERE ARE YOU??? I miss ya!

Summer- Hunter isn't walking on his own, but now wants to walk everywhere holding on to our fingers. What cute pictures also!!!!!
Dawn- Yup, his molars are just about to break thru on 3 sides, the 4th side isn't that far behind. Chelle- Drink that water girl..... :-) Is hubby enjoying his new job? Beth- I suggest any of the hard liquors with diet soda. I know when we went to Mexican for Hunter's birthday, I had 2 magaritas and man, what a migraine headache I got. Sarah- How is the benefit's package for Mason? Crossing my fingers for good news!!! There are talks of the day care reopening up in my office (Montesorri style), so I'm going back and forth on if I should work a little longer to pay off bills and have Hunter downstairs or not. I'm just waiting to hear on Andrew's position (which I think is taking forever) and when the daycare will open to see if they will be close together. Hi to everyone else that hasn't checked in! I've been doing pretty good, so hoping that I see 199 on Friday...... B- LC Yogurt S- String cheese L- Salad S- Peanuts D- Marinated Chicken w/veggies Oh- I have to bake a couple things for a BBQ on Saturday night, does anyone have any good LC dessert recipes? Something that would be good to transport in the car for about 35 mins. |

Happy Tuesday ladies,
I'm starving, but I made it through the first day of soup hell. The first time I tried this diet, it wasn't so bad, because I'd been low-carbing for months and I looked forward to the fruit and the baked potato. This time around I'm not as excited about it and am not liking it nearly as much. BUT, I'm down 2.5 pounds after 1 day, so it's worth it. Hi Coleen – it seems you’re always a day behind! Life must be REALLY relaxed down in the Virgin Islands! I’m so envious of you, I’ve been on a couple cruises down in the Caribbean and St. Thomas is SUCH a gorgeous island! I could get used to living there pretty quickly. Nevermind that I’d probably crawl in corner and cry for weeks at a time during hurricane season! Morning Melissa – someone (Summer or Laura maybe?) mentioned a couple weeks ago that this new sleep intrusion could be related to his walking “milestone” and that he might be restless for a little while as he practices in his sleep? Sounds reasonable to me. Edit – it was Summer and I just needed to keep reading! And on the low-carb dessert front, all I’ve ever made is the low-carb cheesecake but there are TONS of recipes out there. Michelle posted something that looked delish a few weeks ago. Chelle – Enjoy the time to yourself at the gym – it sounds like you good use a little “me” time! At least that popcorn wasn’t pizza or ice cream… your splurge could have been a lot worse! Summer – I’m glad you caught Kelsey before she fell! I know exactly that feeling. These little ones are SO fearless, and it’s sometimes impossible to prevent those little bumps and bruises, but we do the best we can! Those are adorable pictures and I love that she’s already trendy with the low-rider pants! ![]() Hi Beth – depending on what you like, going out drinking can be pretty hard while low-carb. Light (and ultralight) beers are always an option, but not everyone likes beer. Otherwise, whenever it’s me, I try to stick to the clear liquors with a diet mixer. Rum & diet coke, vodka and crystal light, etc. Those of us with the taste for fruity drinks are kinda out of luck. Dawn, I can feel your Disney excitement from here! I can’t wait to see pictures. Good luck getting laundry folded with Eli around. Hope everyone has a great day! Christie

Melissa ~ I wish I had some advice with Hunter and the night crying. Calyse is still in our room in her crib so I dread what will happen when we move her out after her 1st birthday. She pretty much sleeps through the night but getting her down is our issue.
Chelle ~ Sorry you had such a crappy day! I hope day is a much better one for you! Have you tried children's Motrin fir Elana's teething? It's suppose to be a bit stronger than the tylenol. Summer ~ This pictures of Kelsy are gorgeous!! The black and white is my favorite. Beth ~ Absolutley no idea on waht to drink. I normmalt pary that they have atleast a Diet Sprite if not I settle for the Diet Coke.

Hi Guys!
Did well last night, I think I even managed about 100oz. of h20 yesterday. I made some really good fish last night. It was haddock that cut into small chunks, then dipped in egg. I then put it in a baggie with parm cheese (shake and bake style), and put it in a baking dish with a tiny bit of lemon juice in the bottom of it. It baked at 350* for about 20-25 minutes, then I stuck it under the broiler to brown up the tops. It was so yummy, Mark & Elliott even loved it. I have all the kiddos again today, hopefully when they all leave I'll get to go for a walk, but that won't be till around 6 tonight. The rain has stopped for today though it is still cold and damp, and will start to rain again tomorrow for the rest of the week. I really like Mic. Ultra, a lot better then the new Bud Select if beer is your thing. That's what I always have at work, well after work Jamie's not here yet, and Conner, and Judson are napping so i have to go help Elliott with his workbook. He's getting really good at reading, I'm worried he will be board whn he starts Kindergarten in the fall. We only have one choice for school and unfortunatly the only goal for K. is to learn how to use scissors and glue. There are going to be 30 new kids in his class next year, and 15 of this years K. class is staying back. 45 kids is a lot, I'm hopeing they will split it up, there is talk of having 2 classes but I doubt it. Alright I'm done venting about school now - sorry! I'll be back later ![]()

Hi Christie- Glad you are down a couple lbs, I could never do a soup diet!!!
Colleen- Hunter has been in his own room since about 6 months, as much as I protested it, it was nice to have the bedroom back. At least when doing laundry at night I can put it away instead of leaving it for the cats to knock over and sleep on at night. Liz- Good job on the water yesterday!!! I think I got about 70 oz in yesterday, which is better than normal lately. |

I've had a sad morning. My good friend whose wedding shower I went to this past weekend emailed to say that her first pregnancy OB appointment (she was 8 weeks along) showed a blighted ovum--sac but no fetus. The hardest part is that everyone was excited and talking about it all weekend. Ugh.

Christie- I did the soup diet, a couple months ago.........with DH and it was a disaster, he was such a bad influence LOL We quit after the second day. I think I was going to have to make like 4 pots of soup to keep up with it!! Good luck to ya, it does work
![]() Chelle- Have you tried the Hylands teething tablets??? They worked pretty well with Madison when she got her first teeth. Colleen- Great job on Calyse walking, that is soooo fun. And oh to live on an island!!! How fun is that?? |

Christie--That diet was the only thing that got my weight loss going post-baby. It's amazing how effective it is! I could never do it again though because I ate too much soup and got so sick of it.

Hi Boods: We live in Bucktown right now which is in Chicago on the NW side of the city. I LOVE IT!!!! We are just a few minutes from everything and we have a park right in front of our building....but, it costs a fortune and we would have to put K in private school which means major money in Chicago. So, we'll see. We plan on staying where we are at least another year. Property values are really on the rise in this area so we are hoping to make some money on our condo.
Thanks for the compliments on the pictures...I took your advice about going outside and using the natural light. It really works! Melissa: I bet that Hunter will start taking steps soon and that is what's causing his night waking. I don't really have any LC dessert recipes but if you get a good one, pass it along! Sometimes I have made chocolate covered peanut clusters but I don't know how those would hold up if it's hot? Christie: I know, those low rider pants are so cute but man, every time they bend over the butt crack is peeking out at you. Hi Coleen! mmmm, strawberry yogurt sounds yummy! Hi Liz! Great job on the water! |

Melissa... Yeah, I bet the sleeping issues are a combo of teeth and walking. It's such a HUGE transition period right now.. they are becoming little "people" and not babies anymore
. But it's exciting just the same (except for the non-sleeping ). Do you guys switch off nights that you could at least get some good nights of sleep?Christie... 2.5 pounds?! Colleen... YAY on Calyse walking!! That's so much fun.. we're at the same stage.. just needs that darn courage to keep going on his own! Liz... Sounds like that little Elliott is a smartie-pants! That is a TON of kids if they don't break them into two classes... What's up with that? I would complain for sure.. just not enough one-on-one if you ask me! Holly... Oh boy.. that's a rough one. I know how excited I was already at that point, that has to be heartbreaking. To answer your question from last night... we plan on trying for #2 in August or so. I say "or so" cuz Jason is already bugging me (not that I'm against it!), but I'd really like to have the summer off like I did with Eli. I just don't want a winter baby!! So hopefully there'll be a few of us preggo together! Summer... Oh, what a beautiful area! We always get off the freeway north of the city to drive through the beautiful houses into the city. I'm jealous! And a park right in front of your building?! That's awesome. I'd ride it out for a little bit too! Did you grow up in the city? And, yup, natural light ALWAYS makes for beautiful pics!! Wish it would get a little nicer here so I could do the same! Joye... Good luck!! Hope everything goes well with your first class... I have been to that website. I also browse on disboards.com and wdwmagic.com. Looking forward to your tips... YAY!!! |
