Hope you got some sleep, Luna!

Re-posting the questions a few of us posted yesterday: What are you eating while pg? Are you following your own plan? Do any of you have gestational diabetes?

Advice/thoughts welcome.

TIA.

Dena ~ Great story...glad it all worked out in the end and you have your little Hamilton to show for it. Sorry it was rocky in the beginning.

Sorry girls...not in much of a personals mood today.

I am feeling really sad...can't even carry on a conversation without almost bursting into tears. I hate my job...or rephrase that...I hate my team and especially my manager. I wish I could just up and leave. I need the maternity leave though and I am the bread winner in the family. I cry almost everyday on my way home just thinking about this place and my A$$ of a manager. I don't want to be here.

Hi, girls!

Dena, thanks for posting your story! Sorry it started out so crappy.. kind of like my c-section, it got better as it went along. I'm glad he is SO healthy!!!! What a good little guy! Definitely call an LC to help.

Luna, thanks for asking. I'm doing well. Alison and I had a rough weekend (hardly any sleep), but she made up for it yesterday. She practically slept the day away and slept most of the night. She woke up for feedings, but went right back to sleep. Woo!

As far as my dogs, well, I haven't seen my dr. since my 2 week appointment, and won't see him again until next week. I haven't worked them in agility, but have been playing lots of frisbee with them, and will probably compete this weekend.

Gotta run, but before I do, here's a pic I took yesterday:

Good Morning.

Portia- alot of us were trying to stay low carb but had such morning sickness it wasn't possible. Personally I had such bad 24 nausea for 4 mos+ that I was on meds and dehydrated. I lived on gatorade. I would say the best low carb for pregnancy is just avoiding such refined sugars and foods. Eating good fruits, whole grains, milk or yogurt. Just smart healthy eating but staying out of ketosis.

Amy-sorry you are weepy, it happens around now. Try to have a good long cry and move on. If it is happening every day all day...talk to your doctor.

Hey Luna!! Sorry you were up late. I couldn't sleep and I even got the itchies instead of RLS (restless leg) I had to take a really hot shower at 2am in order to sleep. Hang in there.

Dar-she is so cute! Sleeping is hard. Those who have newborns that sleep all night are very very lucky. My daughter is 3 and still has only slept thru the night under 20 times ever. DS never did until he was 1.

I'm training my Rottweiller, Trot and that is really keeping me busy. I tried to be waay to bold on Saturday after just an hour of training and take a small toy from him mouth. DUH...he bit me hard. He loves my DD though. He is great at practicing Sit, Take-it and gotcha. LOL

Oh here is a tip or two for you ladies today.

-Newborn sleeping habits-Warning...if after a few days/weeks your newborn still cannot go to sleep on his/her own when you put them down sleepy. PLEASE PLEASE don't pick them up and rock and bounce them to sleep. I did this with DS #1 and ended up doing it for nightime and naptime for a year!!!! Needless to say DD never once went into her crib asleep...she loved to go to sleep on her own.

Tip #2- if you are close to your due date and feel strangely hungry and sick, but hungry. DO NOT EAT anything that will make you burp. I made the mistake of not recognizing my "not so good" feeling of going into labor and ate a meatball and cheese lean pocket. OMG...I was burping nasty meatball all through labor. LOL

LOL, Becca, as always, love your advice. I just read in one of my books about the not putting them to bed always asleep. I need to get out of that habit, and I'm working on it.

If you need any training help, let me know. Pup NEEDS to learn to that his toys and his food are NOT really his. Play with his food while he eats. Get the kids to do this, too. He needs to learn to NOT bite ever ever ever!!!!!

Thanks Dar. We are teaching him that. I just got too bold too fast. I had just taken my rug away from him 6 times. Then he got a small toy, I held his collar and stuck my hand right in there to get it. He dropped it and clamped down quick on my finger. He bit me but didn't get wild on me. My finger is still sore though, he has little razor puppy teeth. I'm trying now by having him sit...giving him a treat and while he is eating it I pet him and play with his collar. Kindof annoying him while he is having his treat. Slowly working into taking food away. We are using a private trainer at Petsmart too.

Becca ~ Good tips! Especially the picking up rocking one. My DH's aunt/uncle made the mistake of rocking their DD to sleep by hand everytime she went to bed. To this day - 3 years later, she still has to crawl up onto their lap and go to sleep.

I am not weepy all day. Not just anything makes me weepy. Its this damn job and my frick'n manager. He is an A$$. Unless the meds a doctor would prescribe are a poison I can put in his coffee, I don't think anything will help. I think I need to confront him but I don't think it is going to help. I think I will confront him, suck it up these last few months and then maybe if it isn't any better when I leave, I will go through my maternity leave happy as a clam and then talk to the director when I come back and if they can't help and put me on another team or something, I will start looking for another job.

This is what happened yesterday that is flowing over to today:
I had processed a form yesterday and made a mistake...no biggie...it happens. It was nothing major. Just a mistyped number. Normally any other Client Account Manager (I am also having an issue with him) would just return the form to me and ask me to fix it. No major thing. Well, I finally finished my forms yesterday - there were a ton. I waddled to the ladies room, got back to my desk and my A$$ of a manager, walks over literally flicks the form at me, says "fix this" and walks away. I sent him an e-mail asking if there was a reason why he brought it to me and not my Client Account Manager who I gave the form to. I know he read the e-mail, I did return receipt. No reply. So, I gave it until this morning, sent him another e-mail saying basically that I never got a response. I know he read it again - no response. It just makes me so mad!!

There are more issues...that is just the latest one. Sorry for the rant.

I am usually a happy go lucky person, so when I am down, people notice. Everyone is asking me if I am okay today. I just say I am fine.

why thank you!! I'm trying really hard. DH and DD love the dog. DS is very timid with dogs and I don't want him growing up afraid. I'm trying really hard but I have to say...when he bit me. I cried like a baby. LOL

Hello ladies!

Amy--Sorry work is sucking. I hope you can find a way to deal with it. I had a job that I hated for 5 years, but we needed the money.

Dar--Love the picture of Alison! I can't believe how much she's grown! I had the day off of work yesterday and so I was really was out playing in the garden all day. Back to work today. I work in the Margin Assurance dept for a small telephone company.

Becca--You puppy is so cute. I hope he turns into a good dog for you and your family.

Portia--Welcome! Sorry I can't help you with the eating questions as I am not pregant yet. It seems to me that most of the ladies here just ate what the could especially in the beginning if they had morning (or all day) sickness.

Luna-- Hope you got some sleep.

Hello to everyone else. Nothing new with me. Yesterday was wonderful. I wish I wasn't at work today. I am not even that far behind on my work.

For those of you who charted and used fertilityfriend, did you just use the free version or did you pay for the VIP service? I have a free trial of the VIP service, and can sign up for 90 more days for $16.95. I am not sure if I should or not.

Back to work. I'll pop back in later.

Actually, that's how we taught our dog not to bite us. When she was a puppy and would grab (all puppies do it, so don't be too discouraged), we would scream like she really hurt us. When he does bite, re-direct him to something he can chew on, like his own toys, and praise him heavily! Make sure he knows that playing with his own toys is the best thing in the world. When puppy thinks he's brilliant (like going potty in the yard), he's more apt to repeat that behavior.

LOL, Louise... I thought perhaps you played in the dirt for a living. I work in construction, although I'm in the office most of the time working on getting new projects.

Louise ~ I used FF. At first I used the basic, free version but then broke down and paid for 3 months. I think it was well worth it. You go so much more info. It compares your charts for you. You have access to more info. I made the decision that if I didn't get pg the first month that I would pay for the FF. I am glad I did.

Thanks, Amy. I guess I felt sort of silly paying for it even though I really want it???I know, I am goofy. I guess I am just used to free stuff on the web.

Shelly--Thanks for stopping in! Ethan is so cute! I can't believe he can roll over already. He looks like a really happy baby.

Hello everyone, I have not had time to visit the board since last Wed. So when I came back I could not find all of you. But now I know where they moved the board.

Congrats to all the new mommies.

I usually do not post much but I do read the board every day, a few times a day. But life has been really busy and will continue for at least the rest of this month. Being a homeschool mom, the last month of the school year gets really busy trying to finish things up and I am testing three of my children next week before we go out of town for 5 days. But I will try to keep up if I can. I do enjoy reading everyones post.

Have a great day.

Hi girls,

Thought I'd share the pic from my ultrasound yesterday. The scan isn't the greatest, but hopefully you get the idea.

This is baby at 9.5 weeks. S/he is 1 inch long!

Darlene, she is so cute!!! I can't believe how much she has grown. Shelly, what a looker. He is very photogenic.

I literally almost fell asleep when typing my story the other day.....I feel like I didn't finish. I just want to say that after looking back, I got over feeling robbed. We nuture our little ones for nine months, I don't think their grand entrance is relevant. Labor and delivery is such a short part of the entire experience. Sometimes I feel guilty because moms who labor vaginally do some hard work.....and I feel like I got off easy....because for me, the actual procedure IS easy....but recovery is another story. That is when c-section mommies earn their dues. I feel good for the most part, but there is only so much you can do in a day when you've been cut open and it is so frustrating to not be able to jump off the couch and run when your baby is crying....it sucks to watch someone else take care of your baby because you over did it, are in pain, and have to take a break. I am a very prideful person and I have had to learn that if I don't take it easy that I am only delaying nuturing my child. So, I think there are differences physically and emotionally with each method. For me, the emotional recovery is ten times more painful than the procedure itself. And now having gone through a csection, I can't say that I have a preference anymore. Obviously, the end result is what matters.

i am trying to catch up on personals this week.

Here is one of my favorite shots.

Kaillean--I too hope this is our month and I won't need to pay for the VIP. But, we probably didn't BD on the exact right day. There will be more BDing next month! Thanks for posting the pic! How cool.

Dena--He is so precious! I am glad you are okay with the c-section. I would prefer to have a natural birth, but either way, you get such a wonderful gift! Please rest up. I am sure it is difficult.

Karingreen--Hello!

DH was lurking on this thread over my shoulder a couple weeks ago. He asked me what "BDing" was. I told him. He laughed for like 10 minutes.

Dena, congrats!! I'm so happy for you. And, I think that you are correct 100% in what you wrote. How they come into the world is not the important thing. It's just not. Everyone writes about how a birth experience is "supposed" to be. But, it's a lot like everything else in life. There really is no "supposed to be". Congrats again.

Shelly ~ Those pictures are great!! Glad you are doing well.

Dena ~ Take it easy...the more you do, the faster you can be there how you want to be for Hamilton. That picture is precious!!

Louise ~ Oh, and FF sort of tells you when to babydance when you pay. There is a like a traffic light that is either red or green and it says either Not Fertile, Possibly Fertile or Very Fertile. Good luck.

So, I have a meeting with the evil manager on Thurdsay. I just go fed up and told him that we needed to have a meeting. I got a response - if you can call it that - to my e-mail and it was "I didn't feel a response was necessary"

We will see how it goes on Thursday...I have already started my list.

Thanks everyone. I took a nap this afternoon. I just can't stay asleep at night anymore. It's not getting up for the bathroom either, I just get too sore when I lie down for too long. Anyone else?

I forgot to say, I had my baby shower Friday and got a ton of great stuff AND had fun! My MIL didn't show up after all.

Amy, I hope your meeting goes ok. It's awful to have to put up with that stress at this point.

Shelly, Ethan is so cute! Maybe he remembers the hair dryer sound from before he was born!

Dar, Allison looks like she is really growing! Very cute.

Becca, thanks for the tips as always! I think flavored burps would drive me crazy too!

Kaillean, that's a good picture. I can make out the little body parts even without the labeling assistance!

Dena, Hamilton is just adorable!

Hi guys,

Hope you are all having a good day.

A few questions for you...

Does anyone use, or have used in the past, cloth diapers? I'm considering this option and am interested in your thoughts on if it's really that much harder and inconvenient? I'm thinking the pocket style diapers with built in covers that you stuff with padding look good (like Fuzzi Bunz, Wonderoos, etc). Are these fancy pants really worth the cost over prefolds or such?

We have a washer/dryer off our main bathroom, and it doesn't seem like that big of a deal to throw in a daily wash of diapers. Am I deluding myself? What about diaper pails and the smell? (This includes disposables). I hate going into a house that smells like diapers -- is this avoidable?

Also, I know we've had posts like this before, but what did you consider your most useful/useless baby items? It will be neat hearing what our new moms say vs. our second and third timers.

Having seen the little bean wiggling around somehow makes it all more real and exciting and now the planning has begun in earnest!

Thanks in advance for your input!
