Am I really the thread starter?!?! Hope I didn't miss anything...
I am having a cucky Tuesday. Forgive me for the constant rants. Well, I am done moving-sort of. There is crap everywhere!! I purposely labled all the boxes telling they guys helping us, what room to put the boxes. Do you think they listened?!?! And DH decided not to label the boxes he packed!! So, God knows where those are!! The boxes were just tossed everywhere. No neat piles for me to get at. I feel like I have so much to do and no time to do it. And no help from DH or my brother who moved in with us. I got into a fight with FIL. He started lowering my dining room table over the second floor porch when there was no one ready to catch it. We were all telling him "NO", but did he listen?? No...he just kept lowering it as it slowly started to pull apart where the leaf goes in. We thought it was going to come crashing down. His excuse?? There were no tools to take it apart upstairs!!! ![]() Then MIL and SIL were supposed to come and help me on Sunday. They decided to have a cookout instead!! Gee...thanks! My landlord is a weirdo. Has anyone moved into an apartment where they had to tell the landlord which phone jacks to turn on?? Well, I do. And then he says he turned them on and we plug in a phone and it isn't on. Why can't he just put them all on!?!? I don't even know where I am going to put my phones yet! So, he said yesterday afternoon that he had to leave and he would come back to finish hooking up the phones. He left before I could find out when he was coming back. I have no idea! Is he going to warn me before? Or is he just going to let himself in without telling me one afternoon?? So, that was my moving experience. The glucose test wasn't that bad. I didn't find the drink very sweet...it just had a funny after taste. My glucose is fine. But, the did notice I am slightly anemic. I have to pick up iron supplements on the way home today and apparently they will make me VERY constipated. Great!! Plus, I had no maternity pants to wear today. Those ones I was complaining about last week are either being returned or dontated. I had huge rashes and almost vericos vein looking marks on the inside of my thighs from them. So, now I am back to no pants to wear except for my regular pants which are killing my stomach and for some reason my crotch too!! It feels so tight! Ouch! Okay...sorry for the ranting. I promise to get more positive. Hope all is well. BBL! |

Saltire ~ I saw your good news! I will keep sending "sticky vibes" to that little baby!
Question...how many of you ladies either took or are going to take the birthing classes?? My doctor mentioned this to me. But a six week class is $160 - I don't have that right now. Especially after just moving. Are they really necessary?? |

If you have the money to spend, I HIGHLY recommend them. We took a two part class....Saturday from 9 - 3 and then the following Saturday from 9-12. The first part was about giving birth, the second was about postpartum recovery and newborn care. I like to think I know a lot, but I found out a lot more and it actually helped me mentally....plus it was good for DH to see what we were going to be dealing with. Our instructor (as most, I'm sure) got to the nitty gritty. Ours was only $50. Can you shop around for a condensed version? I really like the book they gave us too.

It is through the hospital that I am using. A major Boston Hospital. How would I even shop around?? Maybe I will just suck it up and come up with the money. I know it would be helpful - especially for DH. Although, I am afraid he will vomit or pass out during class! LOL

Hey everyone! Thanks for the reassurance on the initials yesterday!
Amy, Your move sounds awful! Not a good time to be going through all that. As for the clothes, do you think you could wear drawstring pants? I have some linen ones that are so comfortable and roomy! We are taking a day long condensed childbirth course at the hospital this Saturday. Ours is only $30. I agree $160 sounds steep. We also had the benefit of some free classes on the base. Hi GoJ and Saltire! |

Hi guys,
Just popping in to say "HELLO" Bethany is already six months!!! Born on Karingreens due date ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now I'm just showing off! Amy, I didn't bother going to any childbirth classes. I figured it'd be information that I either already knew, either from books or from this thread, or else I'd get annoyed by people asking stupid questions. Pregnancy hormones and all lol. I did take the free hospital tour and that was really usefull. It was nice to actually know where I was going when the time came. come on Jen and Martha!!! Good luck ladies. Nicole

Good morning ladies. Amy, sorry you can get into clothes that are fitting. Can you just buy plus sized pants with elastic waists that are too big? Someone said that the Lane Bryant Catalog (not the Lane Bryant stores) has maternity again. I have some bootcut pants from motherhood in XL that I love.
Chrissy-fingers still crossed for ya! Boy is your DH in for a surprise, does he think he'll be in the waiting room?LOL Hey Luna, Dena and Jen! Hey all to follow! |

I just ordered 5 pairs of pants from Mimi Maternity/Maternity Mall.com. Three pairs of crop/capri and 2 pairs of pants...one linen and one stretch twill. Hopefully they will fit!

Hi Nicole! Cute Pics! I missed your post while I was posting.
Amy-Hope the clothes work out. I make sure not to put any of my maternity clothes in the dryer. (well except for the yoga pants, they are fine) They fit so much more comfortably and keep their shape better if I hang them to dry. I did take the childbirth classes offered by the hospital. I think it was 4-6 weeks once a week $75 or so. Included a tour. Very helpful. Educated me on medications...procedures at that hosptial. Newborn policies. (umbilical cord clip alarm) stuff like that. Well worth it to me. But $160 is steep

Yeah $160 seemed very high to me. Maybe I will call around. I guess all birthing classes are about the same no matter where you go. Although policies could be different.
Incase any of you are interested. When I went to register at Babies R Us, they had a mini fair going on and this company Tinywonders was there. They can take your favorite sonogram picture and turn it into a painting of sorts to be kept and hung up. I thought it was pretty neat. I think it is $50.00. Just thought I would pass it along. I got a sonogram of just her feet...very cute. I kept saying that I might frame it. This is a great option. |

We just took a childbirth class this past weekend... it was great! I didn't think I"d need it since I took Bradley classes last time (for $300, talk about ouch!), but this class was SO much better! Maybe you could check with local birth centers and midwives... a lot of them offer birthing classes for a lot less money than that hospital. Personally I think classes taught privately by a midwife or private instructor are a lot better. They tech you more about what really happens, how your DH can help, etc instead of just teaching you how to be a good patient and follow protocol (which is how the hospital classes I've observed are... not all, but most).
I also saw this on ebay... thought it was cute.. they use Old Navy shirts, so I can't get one (not big enough) but for some of us here it would fit ~smiles~ Ultrasound Tshirt

Tried to start the thread like 10 times before I went to bed, there was something wrong with the server. I was so afraid that I would wake up and check here and there would be countless Tues PG threads...LOL
Oh Mandy, big hugs going out to you !! Stay strong hun, everything will be OK with little Spencer!! He has too many "Auntie's" saying prayers for him everyday.... will be waiting on pins and needles for your update..... **Kelley** was SO glad to see your post... have REALLY missed you!! Madeleine is so completely adorable!! Hope that you are able to find more time to pop on and say hello and update us every once in awhile!! Hu-mongo labor vibes going out to Martha & Jefinner!! Dar ~ Any new pics for us mommies in waiting?? Amy (smiley) ~ Sorry moving didn’t go as planed (does it ever??) So glad that I will NEVER have to move again!! A HUGE woooo hooo on passing you 1 hour!! Becca ~ You feeling better?? Hope so, !! Dena ~ How are you feeling?? So are you all done with work?? Kaill ~ oh a trip, I wanna get away from it all too!! Tammara ~ your showing/maternity clothes question made me laugh. I am the exception... it was only 2 weeks ago that I had my first stranger comment on me being PG. As far as clothes go they sell these nifty little things called Belly Belts, they look like this. ![]() you can get them online www.maternitymall.com or at Motherhood/MiMi/Pea in the Pod stores. I have loved my yoga pants they are SO comfy. The 2 pairs of maternity pants that I did buy where both from Penny's and I LOVE them, but they are not as comfortable as my yoga pants. Vixen ~ Those shirts are neat, but anyone can make them. I made my "Knocked Up" shirt but buying the T-Shirt transfer computer paper & a T-Shirt at Penny's. It came out really good. Did you ever find you Stroller/car seat ?? Hello Salty, Luna, Jen, Nicole, Grace, Meg and anyone I may have missed!! So I have had a splitting headache the last 2 days, teetering on the verge of a migraine , gonna chalk it up to hormone surges. Also feeling some pretty sharp pains down there. Hopefully it means that there is some action going on. Guess I will have to wait till the 25th at my appt to find out!! xoxo Chelsea *Pregnant with Our First* It's a Boy!! I still haven't been able to find a travel system I like at all... none compare... either they don't steer well, have bad safety rating, have a tiny storage bin, don't have a good handle for the car seat (I like the ones were you can hold it in many different positions), etc... it's so frustrating! That one I liked had 4.5 stars (out of 5) from consumers... why discontinue something that is being rated so high??? I'll know I'll end up settling for something eventually, but I'll never be as happy with it ~sighs~
I was planning on making a few pregnancy t-shirts myself actually, but then my friend borrowed my printer and never gave it back ~sighs~ I know it's pretty easy, but for people who don't know how to do those things I thought that was a pretty cute option ~smiles~ Last edited by vixendrop : 04-19-2005 at 01:27 PM. Amy, I've been really pleased with what I bought from Maternity Mall/Motherhood. I hope you like your stuff. Will Old Navy's Maternity fit? I've loved everything I've gotten from them. I don't get to take childbirth classes b/c that would require sitting up. LOL They are going to get me some videos to watch. Hopefully that will suffice.
Nicole, Bethany is beautiful! I adore little cuties. Saltire, I feel you on the burning up. Everyone has to wear a jacket when they come visit me in the hospital while I'm breaking a sweat! Well, I got more good news this week. My fluid level is up to 101 MM, or 10 CM. I'm so thankful, especially after all the leaking I did yesterday. Dr. C said he wasn't going to complain and I told him if he wasn't complaining I wasn't complaining. He said that if I haven't gone by 34 weeks they will probably go ahead and take him, but there is still the possibility that I'll go in to labor any second since my water is still technically broken. They didn't actually measure Spencer this week, but hopefully he's still gaining weight and growing at a good rate. He's a little squiggle worm, which they tell me means he isn't stressed by this whole ordeal. So yea! LOL Next on my agenda is getting a list together for my baby shower. It looks like we're just going to have a drop in shower here at the hospital in a few weeks. I'm excited. There is a lady down the hall (I can see her door out my window) who is having twins and they had her shower last weekend. Her water broke at 29 weeks, so she'll be here for a while too. Hope everyone is having a great day! Mandy

I'm okay....feel pretty good, just very off balance. My last 4 hour day is Friday. I've been working 10 - 2. Unlike you, I haven't been feeling anything down there. I think the baby is content staying where it is at....there is some movement, but not any dropping. Sorry about your headache!!! Mine has been hurting, but it is because I find my neck in odd positions while sleeping. I am looking forward to being more mobile!!! |

Hi girls,
This is just going to be another quickie. Sorry I've been so bad about personals. I'm in the home stretch as far as getting my work done before I fly out tomorrow (Yippee!), but it's going to be tight! Can't wait for more baby pics -- get on it, wouldya Martha and Jefinner!! Mandy, - hope the news is good today. Nicole - Bethany is adorable! Hi to Luna, Chels, Dena, Becca, Amy, Vixen, Grace, Salty, Chelle, Alli and everbody else I'm missing! I'm still doing good. My constipation issues seem to be settling down a bit -- Amy, the iron did screw me up, but I seem to be back on track now. My mild mainly hunger-related nausea cranked up a notch today - could be because I'm anxious about getting everything done and my trip and all. Ran out to get some SF mints and some seabands -- they really seem to be helping. Worth a try for all of you newly preggers who have some nausea. It hasn't eliminated my nausea but has reduced it significantly. No puking yet - fingers crossed. And no real food aversions or anything, although nothing ever sounds very appealing for breakfast - I just have to stuff something in to get my blood sugar up a bit. So far I'm managing to stay mostly low-carb, except for the odd few soda crackers I need to calm my stomach. Apples also seem to work well for me. I did succumb to some ice cream on Saturday when we went out for dinner, but felt yucky the next day. There was also some sugar in the sauces on our food -- and I eat so little sugar now that it doesn't seem to agree with me at all. We'll see how things go now that the morning sickness seems to be getting a little worse. Maybe I'll be diving into the mashed potatoes! Anyway, I better get back to work. Not sure if I'll have time to check in again before I go. If not -- best wishes to Martha and Jefinner - hope your labours go well! And take care all the rest of you! I'll be anxious to catch up on all your news when I get back! K. Last edited by Kaillean : 04-19-2005 at 12:57 PM. |
