Dena ~ So who was your last day as a workin woman?? Kaillean ~ I think we have all had those "what was i thinking" moments!! Becca ~ How is your sister doing? Heather ~ Waiting on pins and needles for you to check in !! Saltire ~ Sorry to here that you are going through all that... sending a prayer your way!! Hello to everyone else that i may have missed, didnt mean to just really tired. Where is Martha... she didn't post yesterday??!! The massage today was wonderful, think I will bump it up to a weekly thing till Payton gets here. Don’t really have much planed this weekend. Have a charity function Sat night. It will be my first time I will be going and not working, have bartended the last 3 years. Did I ever tell you guys that I was a bartender for almost 5 years?? It's a Luau theme silent and live auction and should be fun, the food is always really good... but it is an open bar and will suck being the ONLY sober person there...LOL. I always donate a sitting w/ 8x10, one of my framed photographs and this year in Jan when Extreme Home Makeover was in our town i hounded the producer till he got the cast to sign a saw, so i put that in a shadow box w/some pics of the cast. Wonder how much it will go for?? I finally went through ALL the gifts tonight and figured out what needs to be returned. We got 62... yes I said sixty two 0-3 month sleepers/onsies. Guess I will be getting a big credit from Target, but I cant really think of anything I need there. One weird thing looking at our registry there it says that someone got us our playyard. But we didn’t get one at either shower, and no one has said anything, things that make you go hmmmmm. Well I am off to bed, see you all in the AM !! xoxo Chelsea *Pregnant with Our First* It's a Boy!! Cant wait to meet you Payton Wayne !! Baby's Web Page Mom & Dad's Website ![]() |

Morning Ladies,
We have an exciting day today . Dh's bestman from our wedding and his wife are coming over today for lunch. They are brining their dd with them who they adopted right after birth a few weeks ago!!! They have been TTC for years and been on adoption lists for years as well, so this is a big HUGE day for us.Yesterday ds, my mom and I went shopping for some shoes and bras for me. My feet are swelling already and I was looking for some sort of slip ons. Needless to say, I found NOTHING! No stores sold bras that were bigger than a DDD. Motherhood had one but it was awful, no support at all and when you're in a G or H you need some major SUPPORT! I ended up getting a cute short/top set and a nice dressier top. I guess I'm going to have to order the bras online. It just irks me to have to pay the shipping and handling for returns and stuff. My carpal tunnel is HORRIBLE this morning. I usually don't wake up with it . I guess I'll take a little extra B6 this morning. Here's a TMI question for all of you. Has anyone done the Brazillian? I am feeling SOOO sweaty and stuff down there, that I've been thinking about getting it done. My two main concerns are that I'll itch like crazy and not be able to reach it  and I've heard that you need to get into some wild positions. I don't know if I'll be able to do it in my big fat state! ~Chel - Good Lord on the sleepers ! I hope most people gave you a gift receipt. I've been warned to stay away from Target's registry because I've heard they mess things up most of the time. They also have a nasty return policy. I have my doctor's note saying I can have a pregnancy massage, but haven't made the appointment yet. I'm trying to wait until I'm really, really, really uncomfortable LOL.~Mandy - Thanks for checking in, we're always thinking about you .I'll BBL, my hand is KILLING ME! Hope everyone has a great weekend. Alli |

Alison’s Story.. sorry, I know it's long:
We were told to check-in at 10:45 am for our 12:15 surgery. We got there a few minutes early, and they pulled me right back into pre-op for prep and told Rob they come get him in about 20 minutes. They put in an iv (it took two attempts, though.. the first one hurt like heck and kept leaking), checked all my vitals, then Rob joined me. And we waited… and waited.. and waited! Turns out we were bumped by some emergency c-sections. No big deal, it just got tiresome waiting. Considering we’d been having sleepless nights, we both dozed a bit while waiting. At about 2 pm, they were ready for us. I was rolled back to the OR with no number (weird, but I guess it had been a storage area until that morning when another OR had lighting problems). They put in my spinal, which made me a bit nauseous, but that passed after a few moments. When I was all prepped (what a weird sensation the spinal is, I felt like I was encased in concrete and had no clue what was going on, like when they put in the catheter), they brought in Rob and the doctors. Rob looked so cute in his little jumpsuit that didn’t quite fit. At 2:25 pm, Alison was born! She came into the world with her signature cry… little “eh eh eh’s” instead of long screams, but soon after they put her on the table and started suctioning excess liquid from her lungs, she stopped breathing and moving and she turned blue. They put an oxygen mask over her face. I started to panic and cry, and they called for a dr. Rob kept telling me to look at him, and not at her. I remember crying and telling him, “she’s not moving!” It was the absolute worst feeling I’ve ever had. Those other mommies out there that have had similar issues, I had no idea what a shattering experience those few moments could be. It was my worst fear. I'm trying hard to forget that moment. Soon enough… probably less than a minute later but it felt like forever, she started moving again and was pink and crying. They got her all cleaned up and set her on my chest. Then, I really started to cry with joy. Rob took some photos, she sat there for a few moments, then was whisked away with Rob to the nursery while they finished buttoning me up. It was very surreal afterwards.. getting sewn up and going to recovery. My tummy was gone, I was laying on my back, beginning to regain feeling, and yet I didn’t have a baby with me. I was still worried about her, but Rob came to recovery and assured me she was fine. They were monitoring her breathing, but never had to administer any more oxygen. Her 1 minute Apgar was a 6, but her 5 & 10 minute scores were 8 & 9. (They told me she got an extra score because she was “special”. anything to make a new mom smile, I guess.)Even though I was wiggling my toes not long after we got to recovery, I had to wait there for at least an hour. We made it to our room at about 5 pm. I’m not sure what time I called Chelle, but it was after we were in our room. This is where the most frustrating wait happened.. Alison wasn’t brought to my room until 8 pm! I knew she had to be hungry, I hadn’t seen her, and the hospital staff was beginning to tick me off with their half answers as to why she wasn’t there. Turns out there were a TON of babies born that day.. but still. I wanted to see mine! The others could wait! LOL…. So, at about 7:30, we had visitors arrive.. our friends Dani & Trae, and no baby to show them! They checked her out at the nursery for a while, and Rob must have given the staff mean looks because not long after, she was wheeled into my room. The boys headed out to talk manly stuff while a lactation consultant visited with us girls to try to help me. We are not having much luck. Apparently, she prefers to use her gums and chew rather than use her tongue to get the milk. And then, after a few sucks of that, she thrusts out her tongue so that she’s only sucking on my nipple. So, I’m horribly bruised and I’m not sure if she’s really getting much. I was visited by two other lactation consultants during our stay, all with different ideas. The last visit was most productive (although the LC was rough!), but I wonder if that’s just because I was finally able to sit up. So, I’m a bit worried this morning and am wondering what to do. She hasn’t had a wet diaper since we got home last night at about 5, and no bm since about 9 am yesterday morning. I have 2 ounces of formula in the fridge I put together early this morning, just in case I feel the need to supplement. I thought we had a good feeding at 6:30, but she still has a clean diaper. She’s passing gas, but that’s it. Thursday was pretty boring, but went by quickly enough with the feedings and naps in between. I went for the occasional walk. I’m amazed to think back how I was Thursday morning to Friday morning. Thursday I couldn’t get out of bed at first, and yesterday I was ready to get out of there! Rob was in class most of the day Thursday, but he showed up in the afternoon and we had more visitors. As for me, I’m sore and feel like my insides are going to pop out my incision every time I stand up. But, I have pain medication that helps take a little edge off. I wonder why it’s not quite helping my breasts feel better. Or, maybe it is.. yikes! My breasts feel the worst. So far, the dogs are stressed but curious. Anytime the baby whimpers, Molly is right there worrying about her. As Alison’s cries get louder, so do Molly’s. That’s stressing me out a bit, but I’m working on relaxing, using deep breathing. Ok, I’ve written the most boring novel in history. If you’ve read it all.. consider yourself clicked and treated. Just kidding.I need to try to feed her, it's been 3 hours since our last attempt, but she's happy as a clam in her swing. |

Oh, and I forgot to mention those marks on her face. We've had conflicting answers as to what they might be. We think, based on what most staff said and what Rob found online, they are called "stork bites". They typically appear on the forehead, upper lip, eyelids, and back of neck. They will go away within 18 months. They get darker when she's upset. However, the pediatrician at the hospital told me they are port wine stains.. which is a much worse diagnosis! They don't go away, and can lead to more problems. But, Rob found online that port wine stains do not typically cross the midline (down the middle of the face if you were to draw a line). So, we will ask our pediatrician when we see him on Monday.

Hi Dar!
I'm glad all turned out great with Alison!!! What a scare that must've been, I think about what our first moments are going to be like with the twins and get worried. I'm sorry that the after surgery part didn't go so well. How horrible for them not to bring the baby in right away. We get to recover in our room at our hospital and the baby comes in right away also. They do whatever they have to do right in the room. If you get a chance you should make sure to fill out a comment card or write a letter about it. I know, you barely have time to pee let alone write a letter .How long did they tell you that she could go without a wet diaper? It's been a few years so I don't remember. It took us a good month or so to get comfortable with the whole bfing thing. I didn't give up although there were times that I'd even cry just trying to get in a comfortable position or something. It's very hard to get started. HANG IN THERE!!!! Once you get it down it is SOOOO easy to continue. I loved the pictures . What a cutie. About the marks, I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of it and figure out what they are. Babies are born with all kinds of marks and goodies that eventually go away.CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!!! Alli |

Hey all. I have a bit of catching up to do. I know several of you posted some great pictures. I love the belly pics!
Dar! So glad to hear you are home and walking around. Alison is adorable! I was thinking stork bites myself when I saw the pictures. Maybe Becca will have some advice or reassurance on the BF-ing. Mandy, I saw you checked in the other day. Glad to hear you are ok. Hi Chelsea! Alli, I would go for the waxing. IMO it does not itch growing back with waxing (shaving itches). As for positions, they will help you out while keeping in mind there are some poses you just can't do! Today is my husband's 30th birthday. He is still asleep. I am 5 months older than him and he never lets me forget it so I have been teasing him a lot! |

Oh Dar... i think your story wasnt long enough....lol!!! But you know me not only am i log winded but i LOVE reading all the details!! My little sister had the same thing when she was born 12 years ago and we where told that they where stork bites if i remember right they where gone within the month she was born. Will double check with my mom. Dont let the Dr. scare you i have seen port wine stains and it does not look like that.
Alli ~ Take it easy today, but enjoy yourself!! How exciting for your friends, and you get to get a girl fix!! Oh and i hate bra shoping also, my problem is that they really dont make my band size to match my current cup size, and just think they are only going to get bigger!! Think i am going to go back to bed for a bit!! xoxo Chelsea *Pregnant with Our First* It's a Boy!! Cant wait to meet you Payton Wayne !! Baby's Web Page Mom & Dad's Website |

I'm so glad Alison is okay Dar!
I'm planning on buying a birthing ball soon... does anyone have an idea on where to get one? I've seen the ones at Walmart, but they don't say if they're anti-burst and what the weight limit is... I really don't want one that will pop while I'm using it... and I can't afford to buy anything else online because of shipping... any ideas of places that sell anti-burst exercise/birthing balls with a high weight limit? |

Hey gals!
Dar- Thanks for sharing your pics and story! Do you have a "regular" LC that you can call for support and to come to your house? If not, I would get one. They really can help you out alot. Also, hard to tell wet diapers with the exceptional absorbancy of disposables these days. If you have a scale that weighs oz. Try weighing the diapers or using a cloth diaper. It is important to get her latched on right....if she doesn't...she is going to do anything but hurt you. Has your milk come in? |

Thanks, guys. With each attempt at feeding, we seem to do better and better. I'm extremely sore, but working on getting through it. I did give her a tiny bit of formula earlier, which I think helped take the edge off. She had hardly a bit.. just a couple sucks and she was done with it. I'm not so sure she liked it, but she slept well afterwards. I just breastfed her again.. no 'confusion' or anything that I could tell.
No milk yet, I'm sure I'd know if it's in, right? I'm able to express a drop of colostrum out of each breast before feeding her.. I checked them just to be sure, so at least I know she's getting a little and if she can help to stimulate enough to encourage my milk to come in, we'll be on our way.Becca, thanks for the reminder on the absorbancy of disposables. I'll keep a better eye on them. I'm going to chill out for a bit. My feet have swollen up for some reason.. I just realized I've only had a cup of yogurt today and one glass of water! Time has lost all meaning. ![]() |

Hey Dar,
When my milk came in I didn't even know it . The nurse came to me and asked if my milk came in and I said no and she looked and said yes it did, it's already in. I was expecting pain, swelling anything, but I felt nothing so I guess that was good. I'm glad you're giving it a good go .Alli |

Hi girls!
Congratulations again, Dar! Thanks for sharing your story! I'm sorry Alison gave you such a scare right off the bat, and very happy she's doing well now. Good news on the breastfeeding - I bet I will keep getting easier and better for you each time. Hopefully the sore boobs won't last too long. Remember to eat, girl! And take good care of yourself. Do you have any help? This is just a drive by -- hi to everyone else. Any news from Heather? |

Does anyone have any experience with natural dyes? I want to dye some fabric I have... it's muslin and 6 yards long... I can't cut it because what I'm making needs it in one piece. I found this info on how to dye fabric with plants and fruits: http://www.pioneerthinking.com/naturaldyes.html But it says to set the color the fabric first needs to be soaked in a color fixative. It gives directions on natural color fixatives, GREAT, but it says to add the fabric to the fixative and simmer it for an hour. Well, I don't think I can fit 6 yards of fabric in a pot on my stove! Same for the actual dye process... I can't simmer 6 yards of fabric! Anyone have ideas? I want to do this all natural... plants, veggies, fruits, etc.

Becca -- Today my girlfriend gave me What to Expect When You're Expecting, so looks like I won't need to take you up on your kind offer.
Maybe Tammara or one of the other moms-to-be would like to have it instead. Thanks again! K. ![]() |

I'll have to see if the spa does extended bikini's.No word on Heather or Martha? Do they have a phone number of anyone here? I hope they're holding their babies .Alli |

Ok girls, I know…I’ve been horrible on posting lately. Been dealing with little Megan and enjoying our last days together….I go back to work Monday!!!! I’m so sad and dreading it. But, should I happen to win the Powerball tonight…then maybe I could stay home, lol. I can’t believe she is already 6 weeks old now. Took some cute pics last night that I hope to have scanned within the next few days.
First…Mandy…I’m glad Spencer is hanging in there. I’ve been praying for you guys daily and thinking about you often. Congrats on making it to 24 weeks. Here’s crossing my fingers you make it to at least 28 weeks. Chelsea…goodness on all the sleepers and onesies. That’s a lot. I’ve actually been loving Target since Megan was born. We bought her swing, tons of clothes, towels, etc. I even got her a little itty bitty 2 piece bathing suit there last night. It has watermelons on it and the bottoms are like the all in one cloth diapers so you don’t have to use a diaper with them. Alli, glad you had a good day today. That’s wonderful about your dh best man and his wife. The baby is truly blessed to have ended up with them. Sorry about the bra problem. Hopefully you’ll have good luck online. Dar…congrats on baby Alison. I looked at her pics, she’s beautiful!!! Sorry about the little incident right after her birth. Glad everything turned out ok and she is home safe and sound. Oh, something I just thought of if you are worried about her not eating enough and the wet diapers. Did they give you a nipple shield? It’s a little plastic nipple that you fit over your nipple. Then you insert this thin hollow line that is hooked to a syringe. You can thin feel the syringe with formula and slowly press it into the nipple. This way she is still at the breast and getting something. You could try alternating between that and your actual nipple. Did your LC mention this? I know you can get the shields at Target, but I believe you have to get the little tubing and syringe from you LC. Just a thought I had. Also with the wet diapers, I had a hard time at first telling when Megan had tinkled. I had to actually hold the diapers up to a light and then I’d see a hint of yellow to them. That’s how I could tell if she tinkled. Alli..glad the twins are going great. I see you’re getting up there in weeks. It’ll be here before you know it. Don’t feel bad Luna, I’m a bit behind as well. Hope hubby had a good bday. Chelsea…gosh, I wish I could go back to bed for a bit. I don’t think I’m as sleep deprived as some of the other new mommies…but then again I don’t start work until Monday, that will probably be a whole nother storey. Amy, will an exercise ball work? Hmmm? Becca…I’m sure all the preggy’s and new moms just love you…you’ve been a plethora of great info!! Keep it coming!! Kaillean…congrats!!!! I can’t remember, have you been to see your OB yet? Any one else I left off …I hope you’re doing ok. Megan is on her 5th formula now. The one thing we do know is that she cannot do the powdered formula. As long as she’s doing the ready feed things aren’t too bad. We’re still having bouts of gas/cramping/spitting up/crying..but they’re not too bad. And I can tell she’s gaining weight just fine and filling out. We had a busy day today…she got to go to the skating rink to watch her big sister skate with her girl scout troop. I’ve decided, I’m going to make Megan an onsie that says “Girl Scout in training” since she gets to go to all her sissy’s meetings and activities. Megan turned over in her bassinet the other night!!! I thought she was a long ways from doing that, she’s only 6 weeks old. I laid her down on her back. Went in there later on to check on her and she was on her stomach. She is also scooting down to the end of her bassinet. So, today we bought her mattress for her big girl crib and we will be putting it up tomorrow. Tomorrow night will be her first night in her actual crib. I’m so excited!! I will try to stay more current with everyone. I have peeked in and looked at all the pic…loved everyone’s pics. Kim

Hi Kim,
I had to use a nipple shield in the beginning with ds. Only on one side though LOL. I had surgery done on one side due to a couple of lumps so that one was smaller and he did fine with that one. The other side seemed too big for him for awhile. I never had to use the tube or anything though. My friends that stopped by with the baby tonight were telling me that she's rolled over twice already!!! She's only 7 weeks old. I guess the first time she did it in the peds office and the doctor nearly had a heart attack . Then I come here and see Megan has done the same thing! Totally impressive.~Dar - If you do go with a nipple shield make sure you still wear a breast pad because they fill up with milk sometimes. ~Tammara - I think Becca was going to send Kaillean a copy of What to Expect When You're Expecting.
