Hi everyone!
Dena, I think your pictures were great! I really love the bottom one with both your hands on your tummy, and your hair!!! Mine has had more body during pregnancy, but it's still fine, and fairly limp. Mmmm Wendy's, they don't exist here, probably a good thing for me! I'm starting to have very little stamina as time progresses. I need to take lots of breaks. Did I miss something happening to your DH? (from Dar's post) Vixen, the Rennisance Fair sounds like it was fun. Glad things are working out with the new midwife. How cool to be able to have a home water birth! Smiley, I have the same thing going on. Mostly I wear my regular clothes, they're just a little tight around the waist. I've had to buy larger pants, with elastic waists, though. I do have 2 maternity shirts, but they aren't very flattering. The thing that makes me look most pregnant is a tight shirt. Hubby is bugging me to take a belly shot, so maybe I'll post one soon. Becca, I, too, love your new picture--great hair! Chels, how did the shower go? Dierdre, I'm going to stay home. But DH has always been the bigger bread winner, and I haven't worked in 3 years... Some of my friends in Connecticut worked the numbers on staying home vs. working...and the end result was you needed to make $200,000+ to make staying at work worthwile when you add up all the extras: day care, cleaning lady, extra dry cleaning, more convience foods and eating out more often, etc. Karen, congrats! I added you to our list, if you have a due date, we can update that tomarrow! Luna, that's great that you're so close to the hospital. And very funny about the girl flirting!! LOL Mandy, I am definitely keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I'm constantly amazed by your strength and good outlook on things! I hope you can stay at the hospital as long as possible. I would never be able to do bed rest here at home--too many stairs (bedroom on 3rd floor, kitchen on 2nd floor, shower/tub on 1st floor) (I put you in my siggy too )Ali, I loved your belly shot too! Dar, I know what you mean about relief wearing off quickly! I get so worn out so quickly these days. 2 hours at Target would probably kill me! LOL I'm sure the nesting will hit you soon--hopefully earlier than 2 days before you give birth!! Friday I had a really good midwife appointment. Everything is still on track and looking great. My belly is measuring a hair above midline normal, which is good--I guess he'd just had a growth spurt last time, when I was 12% above midline. I'm convinced I ate too much fish (somewhere I read fish grows big babies). After I did a little shopping, and bought a--what's it called--a gym mat? and a big bean bag nursing pillow, which is fabulous for sleeping! So the only major things I have left to get are a bouncy chair, bath tub and pack n play (which I can't find here!). We had a nice weekend, fairly relaxed, but the sun was shining brightly. And, DH didn't work at all! Today I'm planning to try and install the car seat, and finish packing. Hi to everyone I missed, I'll check in later! |

Martha- Thanks for the staying at home info! I had heard that there was a "staying at home calculator" somewhere, but I've never been able to find one...
The article was very interesting, wish I had gotten some pleasure from my labor! I guess if I was a masochist, it would have been OK!Dena- The pictures are really nice. Your husband looks so happy and "into it". I really like the belly w/hands shot. Hope everyone is doing well! Dierdre |

Hi Gals!
Well, here is the link to our web nursery. I am still working on getting photos uploaded, etc. The password is "payton" http://www.growingfamily.com/webnurs...lID=5P7Z0X5O7J Its been a rough 12 days for me. Natalie is doing well though and that makes it all worth it. I know I promised my birth story, so here is a short version: My water broke at 3:50pm on Tuesday, March 8th. I was napping, got up to pee, was walking back to the couch when I felt two large, warm gushes. I went back to the bathroom, and sure enough I had pink fluid in my pad (I had been wearing poise pads because I was leaking urine - which, btw, has stopped!!!). I stood back up and nothing happened, so I was confused. I called the doc's ofice at 4pm (DH was home, thankfully) and they advised me to go to the hospital immediately. I wasn't having contractions or anything, so at this point, it was pretty fun! By 5:15, I was checked and admitted into my labor and delivery room. They started pitocin right away. My first contractions started a few minutes later - 2 minutes apart, one minute long. So much for the "stages of labor" - HA! I was 2.5 centimeters dilated at 6pm, by 8pm I was 7! I got my epidural then. It took three tries - the catheter had a kink in it and the fluid wouldn't flow. I leaned into DH the entire time and it really wasn't a big deal - except that my contractions were so strong and the epi was taking so long, they shut the pitocin off. After the epi was in and working, I felt fine for about a half hour. Then my blood pressure went down to 77/43 and they had to give me something to kick it back up, which made my heart race, etc. Next cervical check - no more dilated, baby still at -2 station. Within minutes I had the urges to push, it was so unreal - unlike anything I have ever felt! The doc checked me again and my cervix had begun to swell and close back up!!!!!!!!! The baby was still not descending...they let me push a few times to see what would happen. Nothing. So, off to the OR for a c-section. It was not what I wanted, but once they got in there, the cord was wrapped around Natalie's neck, her head ws lodged against one of the bones in my pelvis, and my cervix almost completely closed up - so it was a necessity. She was born and I started to lose a lot of blood. They put me on some serious drugs because I was apparently trying to get up (I dont remember any of this). I do remember feeling more during the c-section than I thought I would. So, recovery has been rough on me. Believe it or not, I am battling a case of insomnia right now. I can't seem to sleep - ever! Also, I managed to get a double ear infection. So, needless to say, I am bordering on miserable! BUT - Natalie is beautiful, wonderful, perfect...etc. I wouldnt change a thing. I am feeling better each day. Breast feeding is very hard for me, but I am trying to push through it. I want to cry every time I look at her because I am just so full of love for her... I hope you are all doing well. I hope to catch up on everyone soon! PS - I've lost 28 pounds already!

Morning, ladies!
Martha, no need to fret. Dena's DH is fine, but their precious Yellow Jackets (Georgia Tech) lost badly yesterday to Louisville in the second round of the NCAA tourney. Are you getting as anxious as I am to finally see and hold your baby? They aren't kidding whey they say the last month or so is the longest. I had a dream Sat. night after DH put up the Pack n Play that I woke up changed the baby, fed her, and put her back to bed. I'm also getting more and more nervous. We've come this far.. what if something goes wrong now? I don't know if I could take it. Dena, sounds like you scored big on the showers! My swelling has gone back down. I'm glad the socks are helping you. I went shopping for some slip on clogs or tennis shoes, and couldn't find anything. Of course, I was looking at Target, not the best place. I'll check out Shoe Carnival or Payless. I am, however, having this new thing at night where when I wake up, some part of my body is asleep. Either my hand, a finger or two, my foot, even my ear! And I'm officially waking up every two hours or less due to either having to pee or waking myself up snoring. My poor DH, he's really trying to take it in stride but I know it aggravates him. At least he hasn't asked me to leave the bed, but said the other day he thought about going to the guest room. Dierdre, that avi is just too cute. As far as staying home. Well, I can't since I'm the breadwinner in our family, but it would be nice to work part or flex time. I also don't think I could be a SAHM full time. I think I'd go nuts, but that feeling may change in a few weeks. At least I don't have the luxury of trying to make that decision.. it's made for me. Good luck in whatever you decide. Hmm... back to the grind. I hate Mondays. Gah... I feel like I'm getting that senioritis we used to have in high school. Remember the last few weeks of school? Forget trying to concentrate! It feels so weird to be counting down the days. |

Jenn, she's so beautiful! I'm glad to hear it all came out well in the end. Why is breastfeeding hard for you? Is she latching okay, it's just painful? Just curious. I hope you can get a little bit of sleep soon and that your ear infection goes away, too! How awful. |

Hi everyone...
Martha ~ You always sound so busy!! You are going, going, going - all the time!! LOL Me?? I am just a lazy A$$. Yeah, I am moving in a month and have I started packing yet?? No...I sat on my butt all weekend! I would love to see a picture of you!! I wish DH made enough for one of us to stay home. We have no choice...we have to work. I don't even know what we are doing about daycare yet. I mean, we have options but nothing set in stone. nyanchan ~ Hi there! Jenn ~ Great birth story. Sorry it didn't turn out how you wanted - but it sounds like the outcome was well worth it!! Congrats again!! Dar ~ That is funny about the dream. It must have seemed so real. I know what you mean about getting anxious and I am only 20 weeks!! LOL Sometimes I still can't believe that I am pregnant. I have been carrying on my life like nothing is different and then I have a weird sensation or someone asks me how I am and I am like "Oh, yeah...I am pregnant!!" Sometimes I can't believe it! Mandy ~ Waiting to hear how it goes with the doctor today. Crossing my fingers that you get some good news about your levels!! Okay I have had some weird sensations. I feel some pressure in my lower stomach. Like when I lean to sit up or even just sitting...it just this pressure that I feel. Weird. I mean I know it is from being pregnant, but I just started feeling it. Any idea what it is from? Shifting? Also, I remember the whole peeling nipple conversation that you guys had a few weeks ago but it didn't affect me so I just sort of read through and didn't retain any of it. Anyway...I have noticed over the past week or so, my nipples look like they are dry and chapped. They don't hurt or anything, but they just look funny. Did you guys put lotion on them or anything?? Did anything help?? So, there is a crib set with some bonus items on ebay that my mother is watching for me. The auction ends in 2 days I think....anyway, it is a Boyds Bear crib set and I love, love, love Boyds Bears. I have a ton of them at home. So, cross your fingers that all goes well. I really like it and with a little change in things like curtain colors and misc boy/girl things in the room the set can work for either set I think. Here is the link!! Boyds Bear Crip Set

Amy, I've always had skin problems (super sensitive skin AND eczema) including on my nipples. I use Cetaphil cream at my derm's recommendation. It's fragrance free and does not clog pores. Recommended at our breastfeeding class was Lansinoh cream. It can also be used while breastfeeding without having to wash it off before feeding baby. I have a tube of it ready and waiting in my bag, which is mostly packed.
As far as the pressure.. perhaps she's having a growth spurt? I don't really know. |

Smiley, good luck with the crib set--it's cute! I probably sound so busy because everything takes four times as long to get done here! LOL I spend my share of time doing nothing too....Oh, on the nipple front. I haven't had any discharge or peeling, but I use stretch mark cream every day after the shower on my boobs, belly and butt ![]() |

Good morning!
Thanks for sharing your story Jenn, Natalie is adorable! Once again, I'm sorry it ended in a c-section. Keep tring on the breastfeeding, it will get easier. Mandy-I'm anxious to see how your u/s goes. *crossing my fingers for you* Too bad they won't let your kitties stay in the hospital room with you to keep you company I doubt you'd be able to find a nurse nice enough to change the litter box. I just don't know if I could stay away from my furbaby for 9+weeks. Dena-I think those pictures turned out really great. My dd LOVED her wipe warmer. I'm using cloth dipes and wipes this time around and I found that I can pre-moisten the cloth wipes and fold them to put them in the warmer, so I'm excited about that...I'm lame, I know Are you still thinking about doing cloth part-time? Dierdre-I stay at home and it makes our budget pretty tight, but only by $200/month....which is our "luxury spending" we had to cut out. We still have our internet and cable and can afford to do things on the weekends, so it's not that bad. And if you plan to breast fed and maybe make an investment in some nice cloth diapers, that would cut out a big monthly bill not having to buy formula and disposables if you had to use daycare. Luna-That's great you passed the GTT! Martha-That's great you got a good report from your appt!! Dar-I haven't had the nesting kick in either. I just try to stay on top of everything "just in case" My mom is staying here with DD while I'm in the hospital and she's very good about pitching in to help with things around the house, so I'm not too worried if the nesting dosen't ever kick in, LOL. I would like to get my flower beds ready though, I klnow I won't feel like pulling up grass and weeds after the baby comes. I'm not finished yet but Mya is having a meltdown so I'll be back after she goes down for her nap.

Good morning ladies.
No news on anything yet. The nurse yesterday said the doc would probably come over and do my u/s sometime between noon and early evening. Since he's been gone all weekend his patient load is probably backed up. My regular OB came by this morning and told me again that she's hopeful my levels are up. Depending on if they are up or not, they may or may not send me home on strict bed rest. It would be so much harder to do strict bed rest at home, especially with dh gone, but we'll just see what they say. I've gradually been developing questions to ask him for when I see him today. I hope he doesn't feel overwhelmed. LOL On a side note, those steriod shots they gave me have made me constantly hungry. Not only do I eat EVERYTHING they bring me on my tray, but my step mom brought granola bars, cereal bars, and pop tarts that I've made a nice dent in. Its very annoying. LOL I should be back early this evening with an update on my u/s. Please keep the baby and I in your prayers. Mandy

Hey ladies!
Congrats Jenn! Sorry you didn't have the best labor experience. Glad everything turned out okay. Stick with it with the BF if you can. Get help from a LC if you need it, they are a godsend. Dena-Cool Pics!! Mandy-Glad you can pop in with us! Anxiously awaiting your visit today! Smiley-Is the pressure like you've got something in the way of bending/moving? Or pushes out? Bet is the baby is getting big and getting in your way! Pushes out might be the movements. You might just feel them differently depending on whether the baby is facing your back, side, front. I personally have an alien baby. He pushes out and then sideways, like when you get stuck in a shirt that is too tight and you can't get your head and arms out! Out of all 3 babies, this one is the wiggliest! Kim-how is the new formula with rice going?? Dar-I never really nested. I think it all really depends on how much of a procrastinator you are. Martha-pleasurable labor! I'm not even going to read that one right now LOL I'm a gimme my epidural kinda gal!Oh and for those of you getting epidurals, the blood pressure drops are common. I had them with both of my labors. The first I had one big drop as soon as they put the stuff in and with #2 I had them every 20 min or so. Hey everyone else! Hope you are all wonderful!! I'm kinda tired today. We went to Carter's yesterday because they were having a sale. Got spring/summer clothes for my son and daughter. We got some baby stuff too. Got some side snap Ts for when the umbilical cord is still healing since you can't put on a tight onsie. Got some cute sox and Dh picked out a bunch of other stuff we didn't need. LOL I washed all the kids stuff and going to wash the baby stuff now. Needed to go out and get some mild detergent. Tips of the Day from me....(lol, a new feature to my posts.) (disclaimer, these are my experience and opinions, feel free to disagree) -when I went into labor with both kids, I was hungry, ate and then felt sick. Went into labor within 6 hrs each time. This was the only indication of my oncoming labor. Feeling like crap. -when the Dr. tells you not to put alcohol on the umbilical cord stump...don't listen...this is the new "thing" and since they leave them so big because of those clips, it makes for infections easily. -if having a boy and getting a circumcision. DON'T FORGET TO BUY PLAIN VASELINE. And...don't get the alcohol and the vaseline mixed up! -Just in case you didn't know...if you get an epidural...they will use a straight cath to empty your bladder...you may or may not feel this. If you feel like you have a full bladder. TELL THEM. They will empty it. Full bladder can impede the afterbirth and discharge and cause clots.(ask me how I know) -showering at the hospital...if your hospital is like mine...there is a 3ft corner shower with a curtain. Not very easy to manuever in. PLUS...you will be having lots of discharge. Try to keep your showering as easy as possible. Use a 2n1 shamp/cond if you can a body wash or soap you can use on your face too. BBW makes one you can use for all. This will help out alot. Okay, hope that helps some and doesn't scare anyone!!

Ugh...Mandy...you tell that doctor that you have a lot of people waiting for news!!
![]() Becca ~ It feels like something is in the way when I move or go to get up from sitting...sometimes when I cough or sneeze it feels funny to. Although when laying down on my back over the weekend I did feel these weird sensations. Can't really explain it, but it was like all of a sudden I "felt my stomach". Not really movement, but just all of a sudden it felt different in my lower stomach. Don't know if it was movement or what, but it was just a different feeling. Also, another rant - and I suppose it will only get worse - but I have to pee all the time!! But, when I do go, if feels like I am going to burst and then I only pee a little. The bathroom at work is all the way on the other side of the building. So, I have the bad habit of holding it for as long as I can. I know, I know...bad Amy!! |

Amy, that is the baby!! It might even be Braxton Hicks, you never know. I have had them for weeks. Sometimes the baby moves and your uterus just feels more like it is there.
I bet ya the baby changed positions on ya. Hence the pressure on your bladder now. Here is a tip...lean forward when you try and pee...it should help. You may even find leaning side to side and stuff helps too. LOL I learned just to wait as long as I can. Mandy- I was posting when you were. Make sure you tell those Doctor's there is NO ONE to take care of you. If they send you home you will need a nurse and stuff too. Push them. |

Becca ~ Braxton Hicks!?!? This early? Really?? Wow... I hope it is the baby. I really want to feel her. It still doesn't seem real to me. Also, I have tried the leaning...I remember the mommies to be who are further along talking about that a long time ago. I even tend to hang out on the John a little longer than needed in hopes more will come out. Oh well...if only the ladies room wasn't so far away!

Ok, I'm back.
Alli-Thank you for sharing your picture. I just can't even imagine having TWO babies inside me. Are you just going to have a scheduled C-section this time or are you going to try a VBAC? Amy-The only good thing about moving while pregnant is that you don't have to do any heavy lifting Thanks for the tips Gilbabe! Chels-Thanks for showing me the Hitch your wagon sign, that's cute, I'm out of room on the walls though, lol. Dar-My next appt is Friday. Can you believe you will probably have your baby before me? Everybody keeps passing me on the list, it's not fair! I have been waking up with a fallen asleep body part too, not my ear though lol! It's usually my arm and hand. I had a charley horse 3 nights ago and my calf muscle is STILL friggin' sore when I walk on it. My 12 year old brother is staying with us during his spring break...oh joy. He's going through that gross awakward stage where he dosen't shower and his face is all broke out....and I'm constantly cleaning up after him. He's always playing the XBox and has the volume turned up so loud, he yells at Mya-which really pisses me off. This is not going to be a fun week. I'm having carpal tunnel problems with my right wrist, so it hurts to type and use the mouse on the computer, I may not be on here much unless the pain gets better. Other than that, everything is going great. I am 100% ready for this little guy to get here. What a relief! We found a car seat this weekend and I got all the clothees and diapers washed and ready to go. We don't have the crib up yet, but I plan on using the moses basket for the first several weeks. Mandy-You talking about food made me hungry, what sounds good for lunch guys? I'm thinking about a hot ham and swiss. |

Amy, that is the baby. She is getting bigger and is getting in your way, I bet you can't bend at the waist anymore can ya??
Some people have BH the whole time, other don't. You can have a contraction here and there throughout. Does it just feel like tight?? I'm sure it is your baby you feel. You will feel more and more and make more distictions as to what it is as you progress. |
