Lisa: Oh I feel your pain. I was induced with Marlee as well. Once that 40 week mark came and went I was just so ready to have her.
We went shopping this weekend for the baby. It was very exciting. Everything has become so real for me now. Even DH said "I can't believe we are having a baby" while he was holding up an outfit he picked up. Only 15 1/2 weeks to go..... see Lisa don't feel so bad, you only have days left...I have many weeks left. ![]() Stephanie |

soooooo sorry Lisa!!! (((((((((((hugs))))))))))) I know just how you feel! I went over my due date 7 to 10 days with each one of my 3 kids! It is an awful feeling and seems like YEARS!!! It will happen! Hang in there!
You guys don't know me yet, but I posted on the main board yesterday. I just found out that I am pregnant with my FOURTH child! I have 3 boys now ages 11,10, and nearly 3. I am 10 pounds from my goal weight and haven't been in ketosis for weeks anyway. So I guess that helps me already. I have never been on any kind of maintenance, so I guess I need to start reading my book! I am currently doing Tae Bo sporadically, but intend to do it more often now since I am DETERMINED NOT to gain all that ugly weight back! I mean, I know that I need to gain around 20-25 pounds to keep the doc happy and to have a healthy baby, BUT THAT IS IT!! Some of you guys have been so kind to post to me on the main board, but would you mind posting some of your daily menues here as well?? I am reading the book today, but I was never very good at making up my own menus, don't know why. Here is a typical day for me now, could you tell me what I need to do differently? B- eggs, bacon, with extra butter. S- strawberries and cream. L- salad and some type meat. D- salmon(usually) and veggies. S- if needed- nuts or more strawberries and cream, sometimes an Indulge chocolate bar. That is a REALLY packed food day for me. Yesterday I ate: B- strawberries and cream. L- LOTS of pizza toppings and a large salad. S- chicken breast smothered with mayo lettuce and tomatoes. Snack- strawberries and cream. What do ya think? Doesn't look too good, huh? Anyway, I appreciate the help in advance and I look forward to getting to know each and everyone of you! I read the last set of posts and I guess I am prego emotional, because your due dates and new arrivals made me cry! I am such a sap! Good luck to everyone and happy pregnancies!!! I wil try to get JENNAGAIN to help me put a picture in my sig for everyone. ( I am computer illiterate) Tracy

Tracy: Congratulations! I wanted to welcome you to the thread. I think you'll like it here. Everyone is very caring. As for eating low carb, sounds like you are doing a good job. I have to be honest and say that I am barely eating low carb and it shows. When I was following the plan before pregnancy I was always in trace - low ketosis and losing steadily. When I found out I was pregnant and started adding good carbs (oatmeal, whole grains), I was in large ketosis. I tried for over a week to keep modifying to bring the ketosis down and it wasn't happening. It was very strange to be in such large ketosis while adding so many carbs. So I gave up. I'm sure that there are others here that can give you some suggestions and post a trypical day of their eating.

Congratulations Tracy, welcome to our little thread!
I really do not have a lot to say. I found out I am anemic so I am taking an iron pill. I go for a Dr. appt on thursday to hear the heart beat, I cannot wait for that. |

Hi everyone! I am 20weeks preggers and thought I'd introduce myself.
I totally carbed up due to cravings during my first pregnancy, and started to do the same with this pregnancy. I finally could not take the constant hunger any longer, so I decided to follow the maintenance plan and I am SSOOO much happier! I haven't check my weight gain yet, but at least I'm not pigging out on ice cream and brownies and french fries and pies, etc, etc. I feel so much more in control of myself and so much more healthy, too! Dh and I found out 3 weeks ago that we are having a girl! Now I will have one of each. We are VERY excited, and trying to decide on a name!

Welcome new pregnant mommies!
![]() Here's my update, just got home from the docs office Doc says I'm making progress... whoohoo 2cms dilated, 75% effaced, VERY soft. The doctor was so excited I'd made some more progress, she forgot to check his heartrate! So, the hospital in order to schedule an induction needs an ultrasound within 48 hours. SO tomorrow they are going to schedule an ultrasound. AND they are going to start my outpatient induction. They are going to give me cervidil to try to dilate me more and start something going. Then they will release me to go home and hope something happens. If that doesn't work, they will do one more application of cervidil 24 hours later. If THAT doesn't work...then pitocin. Please please pray that I either go tonight *she stripped my membranes* or that the first application of cervidil works to send me into a natural labor pattern. So, there's my update ![]() Lisa |

Lisa - How exciting that you are so close! One way or another, you will be holding little Michael soon! Do you know what station Michael's head is in? I'm going to guess that he's pretty low, since your Dr. is excited at your progress. Please keep us posted!
![]() Becky - I've been wondering and wondering about you! Please post soon, either on this thread or the "Bouncing Back" thread, and let us (me) know how you're and your LB are doing. MaryC & Leah @ 2 1/2 wks old |

Hi everyone! Just quickly checking in. I've been very busy at work this week!
Nothing new here, everything is still going fine. I have a doctor's appointment next Thursday. The doc said we will *try* to hear the heartbeat. I will be almost 11 weeks. Will that be too soon to hear it? I hope not. Lisa, I am sending you positive vibes! I hope everything goes well for you! Michelle, I know just how you feel about eating all the time and the constant hunger! I had to switch back to Atkins maintenance, too. I feel much better now. I shouldn't have stopped in the first place. Hope everyone else is doing well! Have a great day! Susan

Morning everyone: Lots of excitement going on around here.
Well I go in for my 2nd appt this afternoon. I think the only thing that they are going to do is listen for the heartbeat. At least that is all they told me that this appt was for. I had some mild cramping this morning in my pelvic area. I am assuming it is just streching pains. I will mention it to the doc though. I have already seen a difference by taking those iron pills. I am constipated!!! For the first time in my life I have been regular, and now back to where I was before I was pg. Well, Lisa I want to wish you luck that everything goes well for you this weekend. I will be praying for you. |

Hi Girls!
A big welcome to the "new" girls! I love to see more people here and I love to see people not "quitting" Atkins because of pregnancy. We can educate so many people that low carb is safe!! Braveheart: congratulations on your pregnancy. Your menu looks good, I personally would be eating a little more. If you're hungry, please eat. Just keep making good choices. You shouldn't go hungry/ starving, that's my motto. If you stick with proteins and vegatables and whole grains, you won't go wrong. If you haven't already discovered some whole grain options, you can consider Fiber One cereal or Healthy Life bread. I also eat the La totilla factory tortillas. Jeaniebear: You are a brave woman!! 7th child! I would love to consider a home birth. My husband couldn't handle it, I'm sure of it, so I'm definitely going to the hospital. I was able to have Melissa unmedicated, so we will see what happens this time. I really figure, if I'm going to the hospital I might as well have drugs, but I might change my mind. I felt so good and recovered so quickly from my first birth that I'm sure it has something to do with not having drugs. Michelle: Congrats on returning to maintainence, You will continue to feel wonderful. Your baby doesn't need cookies or icecream or jelly beans or potato chips!! Lisa: good luck this weekend, hopefully you will go in to labor naturally, but if not, that is ok too! Looking forward to hearing your birth story. Try to rest before the big day! I'm doing well. Melissa's One year birthday party is this weekend, so I've been doing a lot of shopping for it. I also went to see my ob last week for a routine visit. We weren't able to hear the heartbeat, so I'm kind of bothered, but Melissa was screaming her head off in the office and I have a "retroverted/bacward" uterus and that makes it more difficult to hear the heartbeat. My doctor wasn't worried and said I could come in before my next appointment to try again if I wanted. (I was 12 weeks along at the time). I'm not sure if I'm worried enough or not to go back. I must go, I'm late for an appointment, I'll check in again soon!

Lisa: good luck!
Ldybuy and Susie: good luck on the upcoming appts. I have my 2nd visit tomorrow afternoon. I hope we get to hear the heartbeat and get a better edd. Eating has been a challenge this week. Too much junk. I have been craving more Mexican food then ever before. I mentiond to a co-worker yesterday that I was craving "caldo de res" which is bascially Mx. beef stew. Well, she called me today and told me to go by her house to pick up some caldo!! I thought that was so sweet. If is very healthy.....and full of veggies. My tummy is satisfied now. Smiley, I hope Melissa's party turns out great! Talk to you guys later!

Good luck Lisa, I will be praying for you this weekend!
I went to my second appt yesterday and heard the little heart! It was exciting! Did anyone rent a doppler? DH asked me about it, but I do not know if I want to do it or not. I am afraid I would get obsessive about it. I am going to go back to maintance after this weekend. I am starting to be able to eat more meat without any adverse affects, so as soon as I am back up to par then I will be back on maintance! |

[b]Good Morning!I am new to this thread but not low-carbing.I have been reading about you guys this morning and I am afraid I will be a bit of an odd duck. This will be my eighth pregnancy and my seventh live birth ,if all goes well,I am due in June.Five of my Hi Jeanie! And everyone! I decided to come out of lurk mode and post so you won't feel like an odd duck . I am pregnant with my 10th pregnancy , eighth live birth (if all goes well and it will! And also due in June) and the last 5 have been born at home as will this baby. The funny thing is that I was about to post on this thread in August but had a miscarriage and then got pregnant right away afterwards...I have been low carbing seriously for 2 years, since my youngest was born..had gotten to within 5 lbs or so of goal. My midwife wants me to stay on strict low carb even if it means ketosis because I haev really big babies and she is hoping that better control of my blood sugar will help... ALL of my children have been 19-21 days overdue and ranged from 9 lbs 5 1/2oz to my last one which was 11 lbs 2 ozs..We homeschool as well, have been for the past 14 years. ![]()

WOW! These women with tons of children give me hope! I was nervous about having my FOURTH!! Boy is that silly!
Anyway, I went to the doctor for the first time Friday and I saw the baby by ultrasound and heard the heartbeat! It was wonderful! My due date is now May 28th. I am really getting excited now as it is starting to really sink in! I do have a question though. I got the official ok from my doctor about the diet but I have been very nauseous and craving potatoes! YIKES! What can I eat instead to calm the craving?? Also does anyone else have any trouble with the vitamins making you sick? They are killing me and I wish there was another alternative until I could get over this sick stuff. Best wishes to Lisa! I have been thinking about her all weekend! Hope all is well with everyone else! Tracy |

Marye: Welcome!! I am sorry to hear about your loss. Thankyou for coming out of "lurk" mode! No need to hide here, we are a group of pretty painless females! Any other lurkers?????? Did you have diabetes with your other pregnancies? I'm glad to hear that your midwife is supportive of the low carb life, especially for someone who may have had blood sugar difficulties previously. It still amazes me that the diabetic counselors at the hospital that I work at are not at all supportive of low carb. I wish I could convince them! Good luck with this pregnancy and please come here (and post!) often!
Braveheart: I really don't have much advice for the vitamins. I've heard that sometimes taking the pills at night might help. I've also heard that possibley changing prescriptions or brands might help. |
