Morning Mommies

Mandy, thanks for asking about me. I was nursing a sick hubby yesterday...Spring break sounds good! *beach dreams*

Dena, so glad you finally got some sleep!

Dar, glad your shower was fun, I had one on Sunday and it was a lot of fun! I would think your relatives would send something eventually...Good Lord, when should we pack?!?

Smiley, sorry about Ziggy, at least you know he'll be happy. I would have cried for days too!

Heather, way to go with the nursery! I hope my furniture comes soon.

Becca, my husband always tells me not to clean before people with kids come over--because I'll just have to do it again. But, of course, I *have* to clean before anyone comes over!

Dierdre, good to see you and hear all is going well!

Meg, so sorry about your doggie....

Rooney, I bought a Graco Snug Ride car seat and it will clip into my Urban Jungle stroller--I have no idea how I'll like it, as I haven't used it yet...it was a difficult decision for me, because of the "special circumstances" involving Sweden--everyone here thinks (yeah, right) I'll be pushing baby around outside in the blizzardy weather with 2 feet of slushy snow to wade through to get to the bus station!

Sarah, again, great pics!!

Kaillean, thanks for the room compliment! Good luck with the baby making!

Louise, sorry about Sophie and the RSV...the maternity wards here have pretty strict quarrentines for RSV between November and April...I'd never heard of it before.

Ames, great pictures! Your back must be killing you with those watermelons!

Tammara, & Congrats! I'm almost 37 and worry about everything too! You can get a level II ultra sound to check for downs...I can't recall the risk stats right off hand, but mine went down substantially after the level II u/s.

Well, we did get another 6 inches of snow yesterday...sigh...will it EVER stop!? I am really beginning to drag here. I was up every hour to pee last night, my hips hurt like a ****** at night, sometimes I get leg cramps that I have to stand up to shake off, and I'm basically tired all day long with a very low stamina. I wish I could jump ahead a month and just have it all over with! OK, complaining over....

Some girls gave me a really nice shower on Sunday. We got a bunch of feeding things, spoons, bowls, bibs and a boy potty...not sure how I feel about that one...it is like a bowl

Hubby has been fighting off a bug of some sort, yesterday he stayed home and I made him chicken soup. Today, I have to go to IKEA...dreading it...to try and get some cheap pillows for the birth. I don't want to ruin my good down ones. Last time I went there, someone parked so close I had to get in the passenger door and climb over...maybe I'll park in Mommy parking, even if I don't have a kid in tow outside my body!

Wishing everyone a good day, I'll check back later

Chelle, what a doll!

Just got back from the grocery store (and IKEA, where I spent $125 on pillows...sigh). At the store I saw a new form of vile swedish open face sandwich. Take some dark bread, spread some cottage cheese on it, and top with sliced kiwis. Who thinks up these things?!

Oh, gross, Martha! Not a good thought to start the day!

I'm glad you had a good shower, too! Um, shouldn't you already be packed?! I'll probably pack this weekend. At least for the most part. Dh doesn't like any of the "newborn" outfits we've received, so he wants to find something special for a 'going home' outfit. He's so goofy sometimes. We'll hit Babies R Us this weekend (received some checks yesterday from relatives... I guess I complained one day too early ) to get our car seat and Pack n Play.

Dh finished my rocker yesterday, and so I took some pics of it and the nursery in it's current state. I'll upload them tonight.

I have my shower at work today during lunch.

I just realized, looking at my calendar, that I'll probably only have about 3 weeks of work left after this week. Especially if I plan to be induced on the 8th. We'll see after dr's appt. tomorrow morning.

Hi everone...

Martha ~ Poor DH! I know what it like to be fighting something off for a while. I am just now getting over that cold I have had for two weeks! And the snow...I understand there to! Spring is a week away - Yeah Right!!! LOL

Tammara ~ Congratulations and Welcome to the group!!

Michelle ~ OMG Elana is so adorable. She has the most precious face!!

Sarah ~ Tanner too...he is adorable and looks like a little ham!

Dar ~ Have fun at your work shower!! Tell us all about it!

Amy(vixen) ~ My u/s is tomorrow afternoon!! Cross your fingers! I really don't care - boy or girl - I just want to know. My hopes are already up. Can't help it...

I am still sad about Ziggy...but I know he will be fine and it is the best for us all.

So, the apartment is a go...we paid first and last last night along with signing the lease. We move in on 4/15!! Now I have to worry about being roomies with my brother. I am sure it will be fine. But, I have been on my own with DH for 6 years! Now to have another person there... I am just nervous.

Well, BBL!

Nothing's set. We've just been tossing around the idea in our head. I learned of my Mom's plans on Sunday night. We'll talk to my dr at our appt. tomorrow.

Good Morning~

Martha-Hopfully you don't catch what your DH has. When does the spring season generally start over there?

Tammara!

Dar-Hope you get some cute things at your shower today, maybe you won't have to buy an outfit afterall. We're having a hard time deciding on what to bring our little one home in too. I have plenty of cute, practical outfits, but no blankets to match. I need an ivory colored blanket.

Well, I still don't have a bag packed and probably won't....just do to the fact that I use everything that I'm bringing on a daily basis. I can't see going out to buy duplicates of everything.

We decided last night that we are going to buy a new infant car seat. We were just going to borrow one from my SIL, but I started to wash it last night and I don't like the strapes, plus it's hard to get out of the base to take into the grocery store and what not. There when I thought we were completely done, now we have to go car seat shopping.

We finally agreed on a name! I liked the name Chaz (nickname for Charles) but DH didn't, so we compromised on Chad Michael. Its funny, DD pronounces Chad as "Chaz" She can't get the "d" out right.

Hi Ladies,

~Heather - A new infant seat will be worth the money. We used ours for the first 9 months. The Graco Snug Ride is rated very well and goes with most strollers too. I also like Chad and think it's funny dd says Chaz .

~Dar - Have fun at the shower, isn't it fun opening all the goodies? Can't wait to see how the rocking chair came out. Good luck on an induction date if that's what you decide. How's dh doing on the c/s front? Is he over it now?

~Smiley - Did you tell your landlord yet? I must've missed it in another thread. Good luck on the u/s I hope you get to see this time. If not, ask the tech to not be able to get a measurement again .

~Martha - EWWW on the sandwhich!! $125 on pillows !

~Chelle - What a beautiful smile Elena has .

Have to go pick up ds from playgroup but will be back. I have some booby questions for you ladies .

Alli ~ Yeah I did tell my current landlord last night. I was so worried, but she was fine. I think she was kind or relieved. She was still worried about how we would manage paying rent and she hadn't planned on having to do so much work to the apartment so soon. So it was fine...Phew!! Thanks for asking.

We had a brief discussion about it on Sunday. I think that it comes down to him not wanting to see me in pain. Especially after watching the birth videos. However, we watched one with a girl that had an epidural, and she was much calmer and in more control, so I think that helped.

Anyways, I told him that I want to give birth vaginally, and he said he was okay with that. I stressed to him that I need him behind me 100% on it.. no "I told you so" afterwards or anything like that. He said that won't happen, but he's just dying to use "Suck it up". (one of the guys from this season's Amazing Race keeps saying that to his girlfriend, and it cracks Rob up every time) I told him I'll be okay with that.. just prepare to be smacked. LOL.

So, I think we've reached an understanding without having another argument. He just needed some time to process how I felt about it.

Heather, I'm glad you guys decided on a name! Chad is great! Is Michael a family name? We've officially decided on ours, too. I'm not sure if I shared it, but it's Alison Rozeta.

Dar~ I had two natural births, no drugs even avoided the I.V., and for me it wasn't that bad. Yes is was a lot of work and I was truely thankful when it was time to push but nothing like in those movies. No screaming, cry, or "I hate you." etc. Just go in with an open mind and take one contraction at a time.

That said, I'm still worried that this labor will be ugly and make up for the first two. Oh well, I still plan on going with the flow.

Hello ladies. Quickly checking in. TOM showed up today. Which is a week later than it would have been if I were still on the pill. I am having horrible cramps. I'd forgotten how bad I used to have cramps. Ick. And I guess I am disappointed too, because I was hoping we'd just get lucky without all of the charting and checking, and temping, etc. I've set myself up not to be disappointed if I doesn't happen soon, but DH is convinced that we will get pregnant right away (in the next month or two).

I'll be back later. Going to an early lunch with co-workers today.

OMG, you guys... Had to tell you about my shower.

I seriously need to bookmark that smiley page.. I need a :thud: right about now.

It was just the girls in my office at the shower. My office dynamic is like this: I'm an estimator and all other estimators are men (about 8 of us total). We have two female interns. The rest of the office is support personnel for the estimating team AND for our projects in the southeast... managers, office managers, equipment, payroll, accounting, etc. So, there were about 10 women total at the shower.

The very first gift I opened was from "The estimators". Now, these are men that I could not get to contribute to a wedding gift for one of our interns, they are quite stingy. The first thing in the bag was a tube of "butt cream"! I was afraid it was for 'roids, but turns out it's diaper rash cream. I was told to keep digging in the bag, and buried under tissue paper was a gift certificate to BRU... for $300!!!!!!!!!!! Again, :thud:!!!!!

The rest of the gifts were from all the girls at the shower. Clothes, blankets (including a home-made one that she's going to embroider when the baby's here), baby monitor, baby carrier, rattles, teethers, diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, etc.

Overall, it was great. Yummy sandwiches and a homemade cake with pink icing.. chocolate and mint!

Do I really have to keep working after this?!

Wow Dar what a great bunch of gifts. Have fun shopping at BRU.

hello to everyone else

I am just popping in to say hi and read over the post. I am doing so much better from last week when I was sick but I am just so very very tired. I think a combination of pg and getting over being sick. I am just trying to get moving a little each day now to get my strength back up. Will I ever make it 30 more weeks.

Have a great day everyone

Hey ladies. Went and got my hair done today. I had freaking 4 inch roots from my highlighting! Got highlights and toned and a few inches cut off. I'll post a pic later on.

Dar-Glad you had fun at your shower! At my old work we invited the entire building 100 or so people. The men would always contribute $$ so they could some and eat food and leave. LOL On the bra thing. I would seriously doubt if you would still be an A when your milk comes in. Have you gone up in size at all during pregnancy?

Ames-cute pics! I couldn't believe when you typed that you went from a C to and I cup. I hope you're not too uncomfortable!

Martha, that sandwich sounds nasty!!

Tam-are you the poster that we waited for to pee on the stick in the Playground the other day? Nice to have you with us!

No change.. nada.. I still barely fill my A cups. My breasts have changed, just not gotten larger. They feel different, look different, and will leak if I touch them just right. Just not bigger.

Yep, Tam is the one that had us all on the edge of our seat waiting for her to pee!

Morning everyone! Okay...afternoon now.

Great pictures of Grant and Elana! Poor Ames --that's a big change in the bazoomers department! I bet DH is having fun, even if you're not!

Tamarra -- welcome and congratulations! DH and I are also trying for a baby (this is our first month) after many years of thinking we did not want one. I'm glad to hear you're excited, even if it wasn't planned. Sometimes the best things in life are unexpected!

I'm 37, so I share your concerns. I'm reading The Complete Guide to Pregnancy after 30 by Carol Winkelman, and it's very good. Has all the info and stats, but paints them in a more encouraging light.

Yes, your risks for Downs and other problems go up, but they are still VERY small for a woman in good health, with no genetic problems in their history.

Recent studies have shown women between 34 and 44 have almost the same odds as 25 years olds for bearing healthy babies. Risk is not so much a factor of age as overall health and genetic predispositions or existing conditions.

Even though in some cases statistics show women our age have twice or three times the risk of younger women for a given problem -- they don't alway show that those odds are still very low. For example, hearing that your odds of downs are 1 in 100 vs. 1 in 350 for a woman 5 years younger sounds scary. Yet you still have a 99% chance of not having it!

Everything I've read indicates that a 40 year old woman today has the same chances for a healthy pregnancy that our moms and grandmoms had at 20 due to advances in technology and care.

My friend is currently about 4 months along at 36. She passed her triple screen blood test and her ultrasound looked great. The doc says that while she is welcome to take amnio, it's not necessary if she doesn't want to. Her risk is so low.

So take heart! And send some of that babymaking dust to me!

I used an OPK again today. Still negative, though I was expecting to ovulate tomorrow. Mmmm. Figures that as soon as I start TTC my cycles will go wonky when they have been like clockwork since I started LCing two years ago. My last cycle was 34 days vs. my usual 30. Not sure what's up with that.

However, we shall keep testing and babydancing!!

Can't wait to see photos of your nursery, Dar. Anyone else have nursery pics to share?

Have a great day, all!

Don't let it stress you out. I started LCing in February last year, and my cycles started to go funky on me. They went from 27 days like clockwork to 25 in March, 30 in April (when we officially started to "try"), and then STOPPED. Completely, for three months. I was miserable, physically and emotionally. My dr. could find nothing physically wrong with me, but told me that after that long, I HAD to have a period. It's not right for a woman to not have a period like that (as in, it's not an option), so I took Provera to make me menstruate, then Clomid to make sure I ovulated. Bam.. pregnant.

So, there are ways if it does go wonky on you. Don't get too discouraged.

PPS.

Meant to say, bummer Louise about AF's arrival. I'm trying to psyche myself up for a long wait too, but I know I will be sad anyway if my period comes this month.

I'm trying not to obsess, but it's really hard, once you make the decision to go for it.

Better luck next month!!
