Good morning ladies!

Wow, look at the snow! 6+ inches with winds gusting to 35mph and forecast to get as high as 45-50mph by morning! Talk about a blizzard out there. Sure was a pain trying to get into work. We live in a cul-de-sac and it took me about a dozen tries of backing up and going foward to get out of there. I almost gave up and was gonna wait for my husband to get home to get me out....but I somehow made it out. Fortunately, we live right off of the main roads and they were pretty decent so the rest of the drive wasn't as white-knuckling as I thought it would be. The parking lot at work sure is bad though. I was afraid to park for fear I wouldn't be able to get out in the morning. I found a spot that I could drive through so I can just pull out instead of back out...so as long as the plow doesn't shove a foot of snow in front of my car I should be able to get out ok.

Ever since I got to work I've been hungry as a horse and been getting quite a few Braxton Hicks contractions. Maybe from the stress and energy I expended from getting into work? Anyway, I'm just glad I'm on the Pacific desk....nice and quiet.

I am so sorry ChristieJ. I hope you will have them check again before doing a D&C though...just to make sure.

Congratulations Jeepifer! It was about time we added someone to the first trimester list.

Well, I guess that is all for now. Praying I get home safe!

Ames

Morning, everyone!

I'm with Ames... had to dig out from the snow this morning! My DH had a brain fart this morning. He cleared the driveway, from side to side, but ran out of time before he had to leave for work, so there's about 1/4 of the driveway at the end that's a foot deep in snow! Good thing I have a Jeep!

ChristieJ, I am sorry.

Well, all it took was 2 days of a gassy baby, one bad evening and all the talk about Dr. Brown's Bottles to convince me. We just got back from Babies R Us. I bought him 6 - 8oz bottles. I had a $5 coupon . I will continue to use all my 4oz bottles for pumping (won't have to wash as often now that he won't be drinking from them too).

I really hope they live up to their reputation. He was so gassy both Thursday and Friday. I felt so bad when he cried and I couldn't do anything about it. I am boiling the nipples now and will test them out later.

Sure is quiet in here....

Jen....I hope the bottles help relieve his gas

Elana has gassy periods as well but I think she's just a naturally gassy baby. We have her on Mylicon drops (can't remember if you're using those) and it has helped immensely. Not to mention she's doing much better now that we're putting a little cereal in her evening bottle. I expected it to possibly constipate her but it seems to have only relieved her a little bit.

I know how hard that gassy crying can be on us moms.

I'm getting rather frustrated... I have checked out several different pregnancy forums and none are quite the right fit. The one I go to the most seems to be populated mainly by those who are totally into medications, interventions, etc... another one I've been checking out is more natural, but TOOOOO natural.. I'm afraid to mention I plan on bottle feeding for fear of being lynched! I agree with a lot of what they say and believe, but it just feels so militant.

Isn't there somewhere inbetween the two? Natural, but not murderous if you say you're not getting a sling but will instead use a front carrier? Natural, but not mobbish if a mom can't breastfeed? Natural, but understanding if a paranoid mom decided to rent a doppler to hear the heartbeat more often?

There has to be SOMEWHERE!

vixendrop....I wish you luck finding a forum in which you are comfortable. Are you looking for a place to validate your decisions? If not, just be you. You don't have to justify your decisions or choices to anyone but yourself. You've proven here that you educate yourself and are not making hasty decisions. Don't let others make you feel you must explain or rationalize.

Not necessarily MY decisions, but a place where if someone asks for advice or opinions, and I give one, I'm not jumped all over for saying what I believe, whichever way it goes. I enjoy both sites, in general, lots of good information, research, etc... but it gets really annoying having to wade through the preaching to find what I'm looking for.

Did that make sense?

vixen - have you tried Babycenter? I've been on a birthboard there for nearly two years and I have met some great people there. I haven't joined a birthboard for the twins yet, but probably will soon.

I'm a Babycenter member, but I don't like the message board layout... I prefer the style like here... and the few times I posted a message I never got any response. Kinda soured me on it. It's a great site otherwise though!

Hi everyone, happy Sunday...

Well, someone gave me some advice a few weeks ago that I would sleep in now whenever I get the chance and I've been doing just that. However, today I slept until 10:30 which is going to make it very difficult to get to sleep tonight :-/

We got about 6 inches of snow, but that's enough to bring everything in Virginia to a screeching halt. We just stayed home and lounged around. Also got a fair bit of cleaning done yesterday.

Christie... my heart is just breaking for you. My m/c last August was at 12 weeks and it was totally devastating. I can't even imagine what 19 must be like. Be good to yourself and take the time you need to heal. (((hugs)))

Jenn... congratulations!

Meg

I couldn't help but crack up at the news telling people to run a stream of water through their pipes to keep them from freezing tonight...hahahaha, old Northerner trick. (although I laugh now but may have no water tomorrow LOL)

Hope you all in the snow are staying safe and warm!

It doesn't feel like winter anymore here. I have all these cute cold weather baby outfits and now it looks like I am going to have to go to Flagstaff just so Elizabeth can get to wear it.

I hate our goofy climate here sometimes. But on the plus side I can go outside in shorts and a tank top and not feel cold and pick my tomatoes that are finally ripe.

Vix, sorry about the frustration with other pregnancy boards. I never visited any others than this one. I had heard bad things about the militancy that tends to happen. Thankfully we don't get much of that here. Passion yes, militancy thankfully not.

You all are a great bunch of ladies!!!!!!!

Ugh... I think I have to have a midwife paged, again... this will be the third time since November that I've had to page a midwife on the weekend.

I tripped getting out of the shoer earlier... didn't fall completely, but I did go belly first into the edge of the counter... it's tender to touch on the outside... no bleeding (thank god), but definately nore BH since then... nothing regular or painful, but still... guess I should call to be safe... right?

~sighs~ I'm so scared they'll label me as a trouble case or something.

LOL.. yeah, paradise. It's just too cold out when the sun is shining that much! It's deceiving!

We went to the outlet mall today. I used my gc from Christmas for Motherhood to get a few lighter tops. Their spring stock is in, so I can now survive those hot flashes. We also bought more baby clothes.. no matter how much I warn DH we don't need to buy too many clothes yet. He can't seem to stop. It's cute but aggravating.

I had my massage yesterday. Man, it was nice! They didn't have a special cushion or anything so I could lay on my tummy, but it felt good regardless. I was SOOO relaxed when I got home and scheduled another one.

VixenAmy, don't you like us? I tried a couple other boards when I first found out I was pregnant, but they were just too huge or nutty.

Ok, going to relax... I'm a bit sore from shopping.

Back from L/D (apparently I'm too far along for ER now... yeah!)... everything looked fine... they heard the heartbeat and monitored for contractions, which of course had stopped by the time I got up there... but that's good, just means everything is fine.

Dar, don't worry... I don't plan on leaving here! I love you guys!
