Women only--Do you stall during ovulation?

I know this is a weird question, but I'm noticing more and more that when I am ovulating it is just as bad as when my period is about to start; my weight will not budge no matter what I do.

Take for example yesterday: I did two workouts instead of one, drank 124 oz of water (giving up my beloved Diet Coke), and ate really, really clean. And I'm up a pound!!! Sure enough, I've got that familiar ache in my side when I'm midcycle which means I'm ovulating today. Not fair! It's bad enough I have to deal with this before menstruation but now with ovulation, too!

Anyone else have this problem?

Not really a weight problem at ovulation, but I am certainly hungrier at that time. I've heard that what you ate 3-4 days ago can affect your weight today. Keeping track of your weight will help you to learn about fluctuations your body does. Then you won't freak out when it happens.

Possibly by working out twice yesterday your muscles may be retaining water. Are you sore? I'm always up 1 lbs when my muscles are sore.

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!

I can only lose weight during certain times of the month, no matter what I eat. I have seen this to be the case on these boards before so you are not alone! I weigh in on Day 1 of my cycle (meaning the day menstruation begins) and then might do it again a week later but beyond that, have to wait until Day 1 again. Just the way my body is and I have finally accepted it. Why weigh in when I know that the weight loss won't show up for another week, even if I know I should be down some pounds? Just makes me upset so I've stopped doing it. One neat thing about this WOE has been getting to know my body better; this is one of those examples. Today marks the end of 3 weeks of Re-induction for me and I refuse to weigh in b/c I know the scale won't show my true results for another week or so.

Good luck to you!

Okay, Cathy, so am I correct in assuming that on Sunday I should get a whoosh from being so good yesterday. Please say I will!!!

Hmm, come to think of it, I am quite sore from yesterday's workout, so I just might be retaining some water in the ol' muscles.

Thank you all for making me feel better!

There's times that ovulation is worse for me than my period! I usually stay the same weight for about two weeks, then there's a whoosh. And this is definitely around my cycle, too.

Definitely yes. I retain water like crazy and get the same cravings as with PMS. Usually a stall or slight gain until it's over.

Aargh! Not far - twice a month!!

There's only about 15 days out of each month that I can lose weight. I just try not to gain during the other 15.

Yup. For the 14-15 days between ovulation and TOM I can't lose hardly at all. My weight just creeps up and up - I swear even if I ate NOTHING it would go up - and then the day my period starts it goes down pretty fast, sometimes a pound a day. I have a 35 day cycle, so I only lose for about 20 days. Assuming of course I'm on plan during those 20 days......

Well, it's certainly good to know I wasn't just imagining this. I think my family just thinks this is crazy but thanks to all of you, I know I'm not.
