Hi Everyone,

I can't recall who, but someone posted a link to a site here awhile ago and I was wondering if anyone has ever ordered from Little Star Kids ? They have a diaper bag, Fleurville Mothership, that I want but it's only $45, while its $150 everywhere else...seems a little too good to be true?

Woke up at 3:30 this morning and couldn't sleep, just napped for 2 hours...so strange...now I'm sure I'll be in a daze for the rest of the day.

Hope everyhon has a great day!

Good morning ladies.

Martha- Hope your day goes by fast so you can go back home and sleep!

My doctor's appointment went well yesterday. She found a polyp on my cervix which she thinks could have been causing the bleeding, so she burned it off. Didn't hurt a bit. Hopefully after I bleed everything out from her burning it everything will calm down. She went ahead and did my 12 wk appointment so I could cancel the one I made for next week. We heard the heartbeat, nice and strong, so I'm assuming all is well. My next appointment is on Feb. 15 and I'm going to schedule an u/s w/my aunt for that day b/c she should be able to see the sex. I'll be 16 weeks. Did I ever mention that my aunt has never been wrong about the sex of a baby? She is so good.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Mandy

Morning Ladies,

Hi Ames~Don't work too hard!

Martha~That diaper bag is cute. My sleep got disrupted ever since we went to the Caribbeaan and is not back to normal. I usually wake up between 3:30-5:00 AM and then go back to sleep. It is really strange. SOmetimes I wake up then whether I have to pee or not.

Mandy~Whew! I hope they finally found the cause of the bleeding! That would be great. You'll know in less than a month whether to think pink or blue!

Chels~Wow, that's great practice that you're babysitting a 5 month old! I went to a LLL meeting yesterday and was so surprised at how tiny babies actually are. Except when you figure where they have to come out, LOL.

Well, I get my eyebrows done today, my hair done tomorrow, and a pedicure on Saturday. You'd think the salon could do it all on the same day, but no. It will probably be my last overhaul before going to the hospital, and I know I won't have time afterwards. I think it's another aspect of my "nesting" instinct...

BBL

Hey everyone!

Glad to see everyone is doing pretty well.

Metroames, sorry about your busy shift

Mandy, glad to see you and baby are doing well. I haven't been around much since your DH came for a visit and you were worried. Hope the visit was wonderful and the move went well and you are settling in.

Well, I finally went to the bathroom yesterday. I feel better today but yesterday I felt awful. I guess I will continue to suck down the metamucil.

I tried drinking water for dinner and after and it gave me wicked heartburn/indigestion.

I wanted to ask you all...Anyone have problems with strange stomach digestive pains?? Not really heartburn and not really nausea. For a long time, whenever I ate or drank anything, my entire digestive system had a dull burn. My stomach mostly but basically from a$$hole to appetite. LOL It isn't heartburn, not an esophogus thang. It is like a dull burning achey pain. I have been suffering with it for months and the Dr. has no clue how to treat it. I take tagament now. Tried Malox before a meal, tums after, pepcid, the whole nine yards. LMK if you know what I mean. Thanks!!

I had something similar before... for me it kept getting worse and worse though and about a year after it started I was diagnosed with an ulcer... I was told to eat bland foods, never let me stomach get completely empty, and take two pepcid every morning... the pain went away... then I started eating spicier foods, letting myself get empty and stopped taking the pepcid... the pain hasn't come back... so I don't entirely believe it really was an ulcer... I think the ER doc just didn't know what else it was.
Sorry I couldn't help more!

And, an announcement...

We've chosen a name! (Well, he's agreed to the first name, but won't give up the idea of somehow using our mom's middle names, but I won't give in on that, so the name has been chosen!)

Kayden Gabrielle

I love it! He's already calling her Kayden and said he can't wait to call her Kaydie too!

Okay, quick question ladies...I am being REALLY bad for coming on the internet while at work, but I didn't get a chance to post yesterday while you were all talking about breast-feeding. And, I have a question. I hope I don't offend anyone...

Just wondering...has anyone here decided that they are not going to BF?? And, not because of medical issues, etc, but because they just don't want to? I had always thought that I would, but ever since I started reading Pregnancy Magazine, and I see those pictures of mothers BFing, I get totally creeped out!! Forgive me for what I am about to say it might make some of you mad...but one of the pictures just looked like the baby was making bedroom eyes at his mother while BFing. I don't know...I guess that whole area seems too intimate for me. I know it is supposed to be a beautiful thing...and I commend any mother for doing it. I think it is great...I am just wondering if I am the only one who just thinks it is not for them.

I will be back later tonight to check in.

I'm not BF, I know that... I use the excuse of medical reasons... I tried BF my daughter and it didn't work... I produced enough milk, but it was lacking in calories so she kept losing wieght... not this I've been told isn't always the case and I COULD try again. But I won't. I hated the whole process... it felt weird... it didn't hurt, but I felt funky the whole time... it was way to intimate for me. And even if tomorrow I was given a guarantee that I could produce enough calories this time I'd say great, give me a pump and the baby can get my milk from a bottle. No baby is touching the boobies again. It's just NOT for me.

Amy, I tried to BF my son and was doing it all wrong and he wasn't latching on right. By that time I was raw and bleeding and he was (GROSS) getting more skin than milk. I tried with DD and she had a shorten frendulum and was angling my nipple like a nuk pacifier which was causing great pain for me. The option was to hurt the whole time OR have her frendulum cut OR quit. I pumped for a bit but couldn't get let down with a pump and a 3 yo boy running around. She got 2 weeks worth. This baby will be formula fed soy from the beginning. I might try and nurse here and there for the bonding part, but probably not. Some women just aren't into it. You may change your mind once the baby is born, but if you don't that is great too!! Good luck.

Good afternoon everyone! Hope everyone is doing well! Another work day for me today, start at 3:30 till 9pm, and then off for a couple days. I'm looking forward to those days off, I really miss my girls at night!

Martha - I hope you can start to get some sleep soon, I remember those nights from my previous pregnancies. It's such a horrible feeling, being wide awake at some God-awful hour and being unable to fall back asleep!

Mandy - my fingers are crossed for you! I hope they've finally solved your bleeding problems. I'm glad the removal didn't hurt, that would make it twice as bad, I think!

Kelley - luck you, getting all pampered before the baby comes! I need a full overhaul too, but it's going to have to wait till next week, this week is just too full! Do you get your brows waxed or zapped? I was considering electrolosis, but I'm not really sure if I can now that I'm pregnant. Anyone have any clue?

gilbabe75 - (sorry, don't know your real name!! ) Maybe ask your doctor about gallstones. I had stones with my second, but I always figured the pain was a really bad case of heartburn or gas. But when it didn't go away after she was born, and actually got worse, I had my gallbladder checked out, and sure enough it was stones. I had my gallbladder removed that December, and I've been fine since.

Amy - I tried breastfeeding both of my girls, but only lasted for about 4 weeks with the first and 6 with the second. I had a breast reduction at age 19 and there is so much damage that I don't produce enough milk. I'm going to try again this time, but I can't see myself doing it for the "recommended" 6 months, maybe just for a couple. I'll admit, bottlefeeding is a lot easier, but I did enjoy the bonding (and cost!) of nursing. It's every womans choice, though, so see how you feel when baby is here. You might change your mind, you might not, just don't let anyone make you feel bad no matter what you decide!

Hope you all have a great day!

Smiley~Long time no see!

I plan on giving breast feeding a good try. Personally I would feel like I failed if I didn't even try. But, I'm small (34 B) and just can't believe I can make enough to sustain any little baby, but we'll see. I'm sure there are lots of reasons women don't want to or can't, and that is personal and individual.

Formula is expensive and they have stinkier poo. But, your DH (or anyone else for that matter) can feed them too. If money is tight, you might want to price out how much a year of formula would cost, and add that into your budget. Of course you could pump and bottle feed that way as well. I went to a La Leche League meeting yesterday, and I have heard they are militant, but I think you can take any advice with a grain of salt. They advocate breastfeeding for as long as it takes, and the thought of an older child at the nip kind of creeps me out, but nursing a tiny baby seems so natural and tender. They did say it can really take training and up to about a month to get the hang of it!

I had to laugh about the "bedroom eyes" comment: in the LLL meeting, several women said their babies' eyes got huge when they would see mom get out of the shower and focus on the nipples (they get darker, like a target), LOL. I guess they just see "lunch".

My cousin decided not to nurse because someone told her she would get saggy boobs. She had a hard time getting her milk to dry up. Then, she worried her first born wasn't doing well in school because of her decision not to breastfeed, so she breastfed her second one. I don't know the state of her boobs, so can't say if breastfeeding #2 caused sagging or not. She just seemed vulnerable to a lot of hearsay about breastfeeding/not breastfeeding, the pros and cons and myths, and didn't really read up on either one. I guess just try to research as much as you can and then make your decision.

Good luck, hon!

Kelley

Hi Dal! I don't know about electrolosis during PG, but I'm sure waxing is fine. I get my brows waxed and lashes dyed. I have only heard controversy about dyeing during the first tri, but some people avoid it altogether their whole pregnancy. The problem is, my husband would not recognize me if i didn't wax the brows and highlight my hair, you know? Yep, I guess vanity won out for me!

Is electrolosis a one-time thing? You might want to wait till after PG anyway, since we tend to get hairier during pregnancy (along with all the other stuff that goes to pot...)

I'll check into the gallbladder thing. My aunt had hers removed after her second child.

To me breastfeeding is REALLY HARD. I would never try it again without a lactation consultant. I called LLL and was totally turned off by the lady that called me back. Her 4 year old was nursing when she was on the phone with me and having a 3 day old at the time that seemed scary. PLUS, she was pushy and wasn't supportive. The lactation consultant was supportive of me and the baby no matter what we decided to do.

Pumping is harder than you think too. That whole let down thing is hard to learn. You have to relax so much and that isn't easy with other kids and if you aren't doing well with the BF in the first place. It is kinda like learning to have a really good orga$am!!!

Actually, I've been speaking to an electrolysist I work with at the concession. She stresses that it's not a one time thing for most people. Sometimes it takes years of treatments before you are completely "free" of the hair. But it's still cheaper than waxing in the long run, especially if you're one of the lucky few that can kill the hair quickly. And even if it does take some time, there is more time between treatments than with waxing. I may take your advice, though, and wait till the fall to do it! I'd hate to get my brows all done and then grow a bunch of strays!!

Hmm, here's a question. I never noticed this before, but when I quote someone, it just comes up as quote. When everyone else posts a quote, it comes up bolder and with "originally posted by...". How does that work? Or, more to the point, what am I doing wrong?

That IS creepy! LLL also pushes co-sleeping, which I really don't think I want to consider (no offense to anyone who co-sleeps successfully, JMO).

Jojo~The quote thingy depends on whether you select "quote" in orange from the bottom of that person's e-mail, then it will be formatted in bold, vs. the quote option once you already have a "post reply" window open...

Still not in bold, but oh well, I'm still a step closer!!
You are missing the [ B ] before the text. Make sure you don't delete it if you *snip* the quote.

LOL, Kelley, I sure hope you'll stick around after the baby comes. I just can't hang with all these big-chested women. 36A here. Ugh...

I plan to try to breastfeed. For awhile, I had a "yeah, I'll try it and see if it works" mentality. Now, the closer I get to my due date, and the more I feel like I'm bonding with the baby.. I feel like I'll be more disappointed if I can't BF. I know I'll accept it, but I want to do it more and more. Is that weird?

I was in a meeting all day today, so I'm just now checking in.

Not a good day today for me. Well, the meeting sucked cause it was all day, but it wasn't so bad. Plenty of opportunity to get up and walk around or visit the restroom. But, I woke up with a sore throat which is ALWAYS an indicator a cold is coming. So, I drank a pineapple juice, V8, and orange juice this morning. I'm going for my glucose test tomorrow.. at least that's the plan unless I feel really yucky.

I also learned today that my MIL won't be hosting or coming for a shower. Since I know my mom won't be hosting one, that leaves my friend Dani with the responsibility if she chooses to do so. I feel like I'm begging for one. I know lots of people don't have them, but it just feels like it's a rite of passage or something.

Amy....don't feel bad if breastfeeding isn't for you. I learned the hard way with my son. Tried breastfeeding for 2 weeks and would not give up hell or high water. Took him for his 2 week checkup and found out he'd lost 3 lbs. of his birthweight due to my not making enough milk. Looking back at those pictures, he was so skeletal..but I was so determined to do the "right thing" and breastfeed. I didn't even take that chance with Elana. Plus, it just wasn't for me. I felt as if I was bound to be home every 2 hours to nurse as I couldn't do it in public.

As for formula cost....you'd be surprised what you can get on EBay once you learn what type of formula you will be using/prefer. Plus all companies have coupon programs that you can receive monthly. Elana is only a month old (ALREADY!! geeze) and we've saved over $400 on formula by doing it via EBay!

Just a quik hello. Everything is going ok here. Got my first movies from Netflix and have already watched two of them!!!

Amy....I have no desire to breast feed...so you're not alone. Nothing wrong, just no desire. I will be bottle feeding.
