Good morning ladies! So good to see the thread active yesterday.

Hi Michelle, Jojolw, GoJackets, Shelly, Mandyhoward, Heather123, Vixendrop and 5foot2eyesofblue!

Then the bed spun for a couple of hours before I fell back to sleep. The dizziness got a little better when I ate something, but it's been coming back off and on since. I mean I'll be just sitting on the couch reading and suddenly I feel dizzy and/or nauseaous. I'm going to ask the doctor about it tomorrow, but has anyone experienced this? I'm beginning to get a little freaked out by it.
I've had a couple dizzy spells like that. The first time I was at work during the shift changeover and I was standing in one place behind the person. The breifing was getting long and I started getting really warm and all the sudden the room started spinning, I started sweating profusly and felt like I was gonna puke! I immediately ran to the bathroom and as soon as I sat on the cold bathroom floor I was fine.

The second time was when I was waiting for my husband during his hernia surgery. I had run down to the cafeteria for breakfast and shortly after settling down in the waiting room with a book I had the same thing happen. I went to run to the bathroom and it was occupied! I immediately dropped to the floor and put my head between my knees and started breathing deeply so I wouldn't puke or pass out. A lady in the waiting room looked at me very concerned, but she didn't bother getting me any help. Good thing the emergency room was just down the hall if I had needed help! Well, after a few minutes I drug myself to a sofa and layed down and actually fell asleep for about a half hour in the waiting room and then I was fine.

My mom was telling me a story about when she was pregnant with me she would get those dizzy spells all the time. One time she was at the stove stirring a white sauce and ended up passing out! I think it's pretty normal in pregnancy, but I would still let your doctor know.

LOL! I guess you will know....that is of course I end up with a horrific shift at work that keeps me off the internet before then. And thank you everyone for sharing your labor experiences.

So that means I only have to count 30 of the 40 pounds I gained? Unfortunately, I have a feeling I'm gonna have to lose 20-25 of these 40 pounds on my own and have to fight for every single one. I doubt those first 10 will leave as fast as they came on, because I'm not that lucky when it comes to weight loss no matter what program I do.

Well, the problem with my car ended up being a BIG problem. The intake manifold (don't ask me what it is....I just know it is important, LOL!) is damaged along with a sensor. The whole thing is gonna cost us just over $1000. I guess it's better we get it fixed now though than later. I can't really complain too much though, because I've had minimal problems with this car and it is almost 8 years old, so something was bound to happen sooner or later. Now, let's just hope that my husbands car is ok. He thinks it was just the cold weather doing something, because he hasn't heard "the noise" in several days now, but he is still gonna go get it looked at.

I'll be suprised if I go before February though....female intuition maybe? Although, I had myself convinced I was having a girl and was wrong...so maybe I don't have any intuition. My husband is guessing sometime next week, so we'll see if his intuition is any better. Glad to hear your last few days have gone well.

Wow, Ames, for being due the day after you I sure don't have any of those symptoms yet! I saw the doc today; still 50% effaced, not dilated at all, and baby still high (I don't know what station). I don't feel like labor is near for me at all. I was down half a pound but fundal height had increased 2 cm. Weird. I am EXTREMELY emotional.
Honestly, I think a lot of it is because I am so short-waisted. When we both posted pics a few weeks ago I could tell that you have a much longer torso than me. I don't know if being short waisted would have anything to do with going into labor early, but it makes sense that since he's running out of room he's got nowhere to go but down.

Well, I think some good candidates would be one of the nightowls before they go to bed(Vixendrop or chels_hoff). Marthad could start it too since she is about 8+ hours ahead of us over there. Anybody can start it though. Just remember that the "weeks" are updated on Mondays...and I think for the most part it is the week that you are in, not weeks done (For example, I'm 37 weeks pregnant, but I am in my 38th week of pregnancy now....if that made any sense.) Also, be sure to read the previous day's thread carefully to catch all the updates (new babies, finding out due dates, finding out gender, etc.). Otherwise, the only other thing is that when I notice someone that hasn't checked in for a while (especially if they are in the third trimester) then I search their name and see when they last posted on the boards and then send them a pm to find out how they are. If they don't reply within a week or two (depending on the last time they posted) then I remove them from the list.

Just a side-note I did not remove Kay&Lydi or Viki even though neither one has posted for a while, because on their last messages they said when their scheduled C-section dates where....hence why I moved them to the top of the list.

I bet you'll still have the baby before me. It sounds like some women can go weeks showing progess, and for other woman the progress happens overnite. My aunt told me the other day that she was dialated 2cm for 6 weeks and then when she got to the hospital in real labor she was 6cm and have a very speedy labor both times. So see, I could still go weeks!

See my "side note" to SmileyAmy's message. Here is what Viki said the last time she posted in a challenge thread on January 6th: "Hi babes. Sorry I haven't checked in for a while. I'm officially on my maternity leave. My back has been killing me so I'm glad for not having to go into work these last two weeks. I'm scheduled for my ceasearean on the 18th. I can't wait. Still hoping it'll happen sooner." ****BATHING SUIT BABES THURSDAY****

Well, it's my one night off tonight before my last stretch of six. I think I'm gonna finish reading my book and tidy up the kitchen since my husband didn't do it yesterday. I also need to throw a load of laundry in. Have a great day everyone!

Ames

Morning Mommies

Big news here, I just came from the U/S and.......

IT'S A BOY!!

Everything looked great, he's completely average size, we got pictures of his little foot and a profile. The doctor didn't seem concerned about my dizziness or the fact that I've been in ketosis off and on. So, now we have to think about doing something with that pink room!

Ames, I'm perpetually confused by the weeks. I just completed week 28, so I'm 28 weeks, 0 days, or in my 29th week, right? I'd be happy to start the thread, although I don't usually get on ove the weekends.

Dar, I know what you mean, I cry at the drop of a hat, at totally ridiculous things too.

jojolw, I hope the morning sickness doesn't last long...

Dena, hope your back feels better soon, great picture! You definitely have the "glow"!

Meg, Japan seems even more foreign, but they say Swedes and Japanese have a lot in common--very reserved, cold. At least most people do speak English here, I just find people to be rude and inconsiderate. Manhattan seemed incredibly friendly in December--people smiling and holding doors. BTW, your house is really cute--are you recovered from the leaky pipe?

Kim, I would go nuts letting DH run the house! Last night I freaked out because he thought it would be a good idea to fix the microwave (a few sparks on the inside where the finish has rubbed off and metal is showing) by putting masking tape on it! He still thinks it's a good idea--but I wouldn't let him...

Hi Kelley!

Shelly, great pic! You look beautiful!

Mandy, good luck with the doctor today.

Smiley, I have the same thing going on with my tummy. My fat roll has moved up and is on top. My brother kissed my tummy good bye over the holidays and I said, "you kissed my fat, the baby is down here, but that's OK" It's getting harder and smoothing out as I get bigger, though.

Hi Azktycat and Vixen!

Dierdre, what took you to Japan for 5 years?

Hi to anyone I missed, I'll check back later, I think it's late enough to start calling family in the US.

GM everyone! Hope you are all doing well!

My tummy has been steadily growing, but this morning I really noticed it popping out. I am feeling more and more like a pregnant lady these days. I always feel hungry lately even after I eat something. It's getting kind of annoying. Sometimes I really miss my LC diet.

Ah well guess I better get to work. Have a great day!

Yay, Martha!!! Congrats!!! Now you'll have to change that pink room... gee, darn.

azkty.. glad to see you around! You sound like me.. hungry all the time. Unfortunately, like Shelly, there's just no room anymore for a big meal. So, I have two dinners some nights! Or two lunches. I feel like a hobbit.

Shelly, you look awesome! You really did pop! Perhaps it will give chels some hope. She has belly envy.

Wow, Ames, you're a busy one this morning. My DH is getting better at handling laundry, but for the life of me I cannot get him to do the dishes. What is up with that?

SmileyAmy, so glad to see you pop in!

Busy day for me again today. I'll check back later.

Good morning everyone,

I had my ultrasound on Friday and am happy to say that all still looks well . The babies are about 4 oz each right now and both are very active. They were moving all over the place and I couldn't feel a thing LOL. It was still too early to tell the sex yet so we'll see if we can find out on the 7th when we go for the level 2. Here are a couple of pictures...

Here is the original u/s done at around 8 weeks...

Baby A at around 14 weeks...

Baby B...

Just a cute head shot ...

Congratulations Martha .

Be back later,
Alli

Ames~I wonder if that's it. Honestly some days I don't even feel PG, and everyone says I look like I "dropped" but my doc says no. My cousin was short-waisted too and her last two months were really uncomfortable. She was right on time, though. I'm sorry to hear about your car! I agree, better to get it fixed now.

Martha~Yay! A boy! Congrats...you will have to repaint that room
. That was so sweet about your brother kissing your tummy goodbye too! Will your family come over for/after the birth?

Ali~Cool U/S pics! My how they've grown. Can't wait to find out if you have a he and a she, a he and a he, or a she and a she in there!

Hi Smiley!

Dar~I think identical twins share the same amniotic sac, but not sure...

Hi Heather and Kim!

Meg~Your house is so cute!

Azktycat~I really miss LC too.

Later, ladies!

Ames~ I thought I'd post this link to a poll on another board I hang out on as to whether there was any warning or if labor was just sudden. Looks pretty evenly split...

Breastfeeding class?

I signed up for the prepared childbirth class at my hospital, and the girl mentioned they also have breastfeeding class.. $25. I was wondering if other places offer bf classes.. perhaps for free? Anyone know?

You may be able to take a short 30 min type class in the maternity ward once you have the baby. They usually have a lactation consultant available. You just have to ask. HTH

Hi Everyone. I've been MIA. I'm 17 weeks now and was so sick. I lost 10 lbs am semi-dehydrated and constipated beyond belief. Anyone have a clue what to do now. Milk of Magnesia did nothing, 2 glasses of metamucil nothing. I've been eating lettuce every day. Tried coffee in the form of a frappuciono. HELP. I'm the amazing 3 rock a day pooping woman!!!

OMG ouch

First thing that comes to mind is TONS of water. Then perhaps dried apricots, raisins/cherry mix (Sunkist has a great goldens/cherries mix), apple/prune juice, flax seed.

I really hope this clears up for you!

You've kinda already tried this, but coffee with a ton of creamer is what helps me.

If all else fails, my doctor gave me a list of OTC medicines that are safe to take, call you're doctor just to make sure though:

Stool Softener-Colace or Dialose

Laxatives- Peri-Colace or Dialose Plus

Darlene-I never took the breastfeeding class, it was offered for around $20. But the way I see it, breastfeeding is something that you and your baby have to learn together because everyone is different and the nurses will give you instructions on who to get baby to latch if your having problems. The biggest thing is to get the baby to nurse ASAP after the delivery b/c its a natural reflex for them. If you lay the baby down on your bare chest/stomach right after delivery, they can actually find the breast all by themselves, its amazing! It took me and my daughter about 2 weeks to get the hang of it, be prepared to be SORE, but don't give up because it will get better.

Becca, a bowl of Fiber One cereal in the morning really worked for me. I think 1/2 cup has 14g of fiber!! I agree with Michelle.. LOTS of water to help get you hydrated will help get things moving, too. I know when I felt sick, water was one of the last things I wanted. I drank decaf hot tea when I couldn't take the cold water. I also like the Fiber Choice chewable tablets. Much easier to stomach than the powders. I hope you find something that works for you soon!

Thanks gals. I'll see what I can do. I actually haven't been able to drink much beyond gatorade and iced tea! Water makes me sick. I think the metamucil might do the trick. I have tried the stool softeners and stuff. I can't take laxatives except for M.O.M, they don't work on me!!

Regarding BF again. I tried with my first and failed, tried with my second and almost gave up. Then got a lactation consultant to come to my home and she really helped. She also supported me when I had to give up because my daughter had a shortened frendulum (tongue thang) and I couldn't properly nurse. Best $70 I ever spent. I could beep her 24/7 too!

Becca~Could you try walking? That always seems to get things "moving" for me.

Dar~See if there's a La Leche League near you. I think it's $36 a year, and they have monthly meetings. They will meet you at the hospital too to help out. Our hospital offers morning BF classes every day.

Hi Dena, Heather!

One mommy in my LLL meeting today gave birth last month...she was planning a natural birth but baby flipped breech at the last minute and would not budge, so they had to do c-section! She said he had been head-down, perfectly positioned the whole time up until labor.

Hi Ladies
I had my first appointment today w/ a midwife. Luckily she didn't do the torture visit, I just wasn't up to all that today. I have to go back in 2 weeks for that. I do have to go back on Friday for the glucose test. She said she wanted to go ahead and check out my sugar since I'm overweight. UGH, I have heard so many stories about how awful that stuff is to drink
Well gotta run

Take Care Eveyone

Casey, the glucola isn't that bad to drink. You have to drink like 4 oz for the first test. They have a few flavors, one is cola and I know another is orange. The orange was better than the cola for me. Get it VERY COLD. Then drink it. Easier to down than the 8 oz of metamucil sludge I just drank!LOL
