LOL it means you'll find more to do....I know I did just when I thought I was done. Nesting doesn't end when you have nothing left to do, it just starts over...enjoy it! Mine seems to have continued into post-partum as I'm always up doing/cleaning something while Elana's resting/sleeping more than I ever did before she was born.
LOL, I discovered how utterly fithly my car is clutterwise yesterday. I guess I do have something else to get done now. I ain't scrubbing it down though with temps in the single digits.....that'll just have to wait till spring.

Speaking of cars....my husband's car has been making a weird noise for a few days so he was planning on taking it in tomorrow to get it checked out. And wouldn't ya know it, the "check engine" light in my car came on yesterday. Dave is gonna bring my car in first tomorrow and then hopefully get his looked at soon too.....that wouldn't be cool to have two cars on the fritz when I go into labor.

I thought diarrhea was a sign. This hasn't been quite that bad....just fairly loose and at least a few times a day....the past two days it's been 4 times a day! A little TMI, but it looks like the food hasn't been digested well either....let's just say it is obvious what I ate the day before. The only roughage I've been eating has been asparagus...but I had some last week with no problems. I even dropped the fruit the other day and it seems like I started going even more! Tonight I'm trying green beans and see how that goes.

Oh Mandy, I can't imagine what you are going through. That's got to be scary. Hope everything turns out ok.

Hi Mom2twoboys, MadameX, Dar and Dal!

Congratulation Vixendrop! Glad that you are ok with the results....there's always next time for a boy if that's what is meant to be.

Oh girl, you are sounding just like I was, and I WAS early. All I can say is watch for increasing Braxton Hicks. The feeling of a tennis ball in your pelvis and alternating between great bursts of energy alternating with fatigue. Also watch out for anything that feels like menstrual pain and of course if the midwife starts picking up on dialation and effacement.
At my last check the midwife said I was 2cm dialated, 50% effaced and -1 station. She also mentioned the great amount of mucous that was coming out and said that was my mucous plug trying to reform.....I had noticed the mucous had increased a great deal more than a week before that. So it is possible I started dialating more than two weeks ago now! Also, I've had a lot of stretching and tingling sensation in my pelvic region and numbness radiating down into my thighs that can last for several minutes to several hours. No feeling of a tennis ball in my pelvis, but a great deal of pressure all the time....especially when I have to go to the bathroom...it almost hurts to walk. I've been having Braxton Hicks contractions for a good couple months now. I've haven't noticed an increase in quantity, but they are a lot stronger now. I definately have the burst of energy and fatigue thing going too. Yesterday and today I've felt like super woman and the other day I felt like a slug. I've never really had menstrual pain or cramps before, so I'm not sure what to look for there. I am getting pretty excited about this, but at the same time hoping the little bugger stays in at least another week...that way we can get all the last minute stuff done, have two reliable cars and I can get through this last long stretch at work so I don't jip myself a few days on my leave.

So how long did you have the "signs" before having the baby Sandril? And a question for all the "already" mommies.....how did you know you were in real labor and at what point did you go to the hospital?

Well ladies, I guess that's enough typing for now. I'll check back later. Have a great day!

Ames....I'm not a good source for this question as I had a scheduled CSection. But with my son I went into labor naturally and believe me when I say, you'll know. It's almost instinctual that you'll realize it's different and important. Rule of thumb is going to the hospital when your water breaks or at your doctors instruction when contractions are a certain amount of time apart.

Hi Mommies

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Ours was spent sleeping mostly. We did go see National Treasure yesterday, good movie. Although I realized that being "out amongst the Swedes" makes me irritable and homesick.

Saturday morning I woke up to go to the bathroom for the 4th time around 5am, and found myself incredibly dizzy. I walked into the wall, and basically stumbled back to bed. Then the bed spun for a couple of hours before I fell back to sleep. The dizziness got a little better when I ate something, but it's been coming back off and on since. I mean I'll be just sitting on the couch reading and suddenly I feel dizzy and/or nauseaous. I'm going to ask the doctor about it tomorrow, but has anyone experienced this? I'm beginning to get a little freaked out by it.

DH went to work with all the car keys today, so I'm stuck at home. I should probably go iron the stack of sheets and shirts...

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Oh, for Mandy, you are handeling the bleeding very well! I would be a wreck.

Good morning everyone! Well, the nausea has started already, I could have saved a few bucks if I'd have waited a week. Instead of the home pg test, I would have known from this feeling! With my oldest, I had no nausea at all, but with 2nd dd I was sick from about week 5 till around 4 months. I hope this isn't going to be the same! It's just a little queasy feeling right now, though, so hopefully that's it for the rest of the first trimester!

Well, Ames, with my first it was a planned section, but with the second, my water broke first, and no pains at all until they induced me. But, like Chelle said, you'll know it when it happens! The Braxton Hicks with continue to get stronger, but once they are coming regularly (use a stopwatch) without stopping, you'll know it's time to go!

It could be you're just feeling off center, Marthad, and your balance is all thrown off. It could also be an inner ear infection which causes dizziness and disorientation, and you may not have any ear pain at all. I'm not saying that's all it could be, definitely see your doc, but my sister had some dizzy spells during her first pregnancy, and the doc said it was her center of gravity. I had the inner ear infection with both of mine, and I felt dizzy and, well, almost drunk from time to time. I hope you get it all figured out soon!

Hello to all the other mommies, have a great day!

Hi!

I started having the major signs about a week prior to actual delivery. The mucus, the loose, frequent stools, the pressure, numbness. And of course the infamous false labor debacle!
The biggest indicator for me though were the contractions combined with pelvic pain in conjunction with a MAJOR enrgy surge.

Now for some women, even with those signs can take weeks for the final culmination, for other, hours. It really depends. If your family is notorious for early deliveries, be prepared. Have yours, baby's, and hubby's bags in the trunk at all times. You never know where you may be. That burst of energy can have you out shopping, rearranging furniture or even going to places where you can just endlessly walk, or just cleaning the heck out of your house.

And we'll know when you go. Someone else will have to start the thread!

Afternoon, mommies!

Just got back from my dr's appt. All looked good. Gained 5 pounds in last 6 weeks.. I guess I can't be upset with that. Total gain is about 30 pounds... but I like to call it 20 since that first 10 was right away from going off induction. BP was 100/56.. I still wonder about it being so low, but no one seems concerned. I used to be 120/80 consistently. Oh, well.

Anyways, have to schedule my glucose test and then I see the dr. again in two weeks. Eek! Third trimester is right around the corner!

Not much else going on since last night. Busy at work. I'll check back later!

Hi folks - came in late......messed my back up painting the baby's room, so I spent this morning on a hot pad and in the shower....I feel a little better....makes my left hip not hurt as bad when the right side of my back and leg are in pain.

For those who are wondering.....DH cannot paint. He has problems with his eyes and can't see well....he can't tell the difference if it is too heavy or too light on an area....and I want it done. We've had offers, but by the time they planned to come over, I could have had it painted 20 times. I'm stubborn, I am picky, but I am fast and thorough....so I will just have to suffer the consequences for my misgivings.

I wanted to pop in a ask if anyone has heard from allibaba adn I missed her post?

Goning to go catch up on work, and I will check in later.

Real labor is hard to miss... contractions come more regularly, they don't go away when you move, but can slow down when you lay down, unlike BH which is pretty much backwards from that.

I never had BH with my daughter, not really anyway... a few times I could feel some tightening, but nothing painful or very often, so when I went into labor I KNEW it... there was no mistaking what it was. From the very first contraction it was apparent a baby was coming that night! Mine started off 10 minutes apart and within a half hour they were 5 minutes apart. That's when my midwife had me come to the birth center. My water didn't break until the beginning on the transition phase, so that's not always an indicator.

You don't really have anything to worry about. If it wasn't as esy to figure out if you're in labor or not there'd be a MUCH higher rate of babies being born in cars and parking lots!

Hi Ladies,

Wow, it is so nice to have today off. I really needed a long weekend badly! We've gotten a lot done in around the house too. Lots of cleaning - not so much because I'm nesting early but because my Dad is coming to visit next week.

Ames: Ohmigosh, you are getting so close! I hope the cars get sorted out in time. Mine is a total mess now too btw.

Brattychelle: I'm glad to hear you say we'll know when real labor starts. I live a good 30-40 minutes from where I plan to deliver so I don't want any surprises.

Marthad: I can totally relate to that homesick feeling. I lived in Japan for 2 years - literally in the middle of a rice paddy far far from any English speakers and there were times when going out and existing among the locals was too depressing. I can't even imagine if I'd had pregnancy hormones going on too at the time!

Speaking of hormones out of control, I had a totally ridiculous outburst the other night. My DH wanted to go to ColdStone to get some icecream which sounded like a great idea to me since they have a no sugar added icecream that I really like with some toasted almonds. So we get to the counter and I find out they aren't carrying it anymore!!! I'm really trying to not eat sugar so I decided to get nothing while DH got RockyRoad (my regular favorite). So we get in the car and I just start bawling. lol!!! Poor DH, he felt so bad! In the end we wound up driving across town to the Baskin-Robbins and I got some no-sugar added icecream there. I felt so ridiculous but there was just no turning off those tears!

Dal: Sorry to hear the nausea is setting in, I hope this is it and you get off easy for the rest of the time. I never actually threw up from m/s but I had a few bouts of feeling like I could if I really wanted to.

Shandril: Do you think the fact that my sister was 6 weeks early and had a very easy labor (with her first) might bode well for me? Our mother also had relatively "easy" labors. Please, please, please God let it be in the genes!

Dar: Glad to hear the appt went well. My bp has been running low too and it's VERY odd for me. I'm looking at my weight the same way as you... I put 10 pounds on immediately after going off low carb and I'm not really counting that. So far they aren't giving me a hard time about it.

Dena: Sorry to hear about your sore back, that must be miserable. I bet the baby's room is going to look great though. I'm lucky that I live in a log cabin so there's no traditional walls to paint. Makes for quite a decorating challenge though. Right now were leaning towards sticking with the cabin theme we have going and stick with a lot of demin and quilts. We'll see.

Vixendrop: How early did you feel those tightenings you mentioned? I think I have felt a few lately but I'm quite sure it's too early for me to feel any true BH (I'm 17 weeks).

Mandy: Thinking about you... hope everything is ok today.

Back to the kitchen for more cleaning for me. Anyone ever try to organize a mountain of tupperware? What a mess!!

Meg

Speaking of hormones, last night while watching the dog show on tv, they highlighted special service dogs. One dog serviced a K9 unit and his handler was shot and killed last year. As soon as they showed that.. immediate waterworks. No bawling, just couldn't stop the tears! I felt very teary all weekend.. anytime someone had a good run, and when it was announced one particular dog was having his final retirement run, I was a mess!!!

For the weight gain, my dr. actually said to me that "everything looks great!" So, I guess I'm doing okay.

How cool you live in a log cabin!!! Any pics you could share with us?

Finally... speaking of cars.. I think ours is trying to tell us something. I had a VERY close call yesterday. The pickup truck a couple car lengths in front of me got slammed in the side by a woman who ran a red light. If she had been a second later, it would have been me she hit. It had me pretty shaken up. Today, on the way to pick me up for my dr's appt, DH had to slam the brakes to keep from hitting a deer.
It's telling us we need to get the Volvo that we want so badly but can't afford. LOL..

Just checking in with everyone and seeing how things are going. Things have been relaxing the past few days. No current trips to L&D lately, thank goodness!! I just signed up with Netflix and should be getting my first shipment of movies within the next few days. Can’t wait to watch something new….I’ve seen everything on the tv and am going stir crazy.

Mandy….you may want to talk to your dr about any type of sexual activity. Everything I’ve been told by mine, and read have all said that if you’re bleeding or anything to hold off on any type of sexual activity. I know dh is out of town most of the time, but it will be a worthwhile sacrifice. As soon as my dh and I found out we were pregnant this time around we knew hubby was cut off until the 6 week checkup after baby is born. I feel sorry for him, but it’s worth it in the long run.

Metroames, it sounds like you’re going to be pushing that little boy out any time now. Maybe even this week sometime????

Marthad, could it be possible that you may have an inner ear infection or something causing this? I had one of these spells this past week, but it wasn’t as bad as yours. Luckily I was seeing my dr that day and they told me that in my case, with the Gestational Diabetes, to sit down and eat a protein right away. It sounds like you’ve had a few close calls with the cars this week. Things that make you go hmmmmmm.

Jojolw, sorry the morning sickness has kicked in finally. I hope it gets better fast.

GoJackets, glad to hear your back is feeling a little bit better. I’m like you right now. With my not being able to clean, do laundry, etc….and I’m having to rely on dh & dd to do it all I just don’t feel like it’s getting done fast enough. It’s driving me crazy!! But at the same time, I’m thankful I have someone to do it all.

For those that I may have missed hope everything is going good.

This copy and paste thing has made this reply soooo much easier!! What a great idea!!

Kim

Hey ladies...it's your friend, the lurker

Went to a baby shower yesterday and picked up 2 ideas I thought I'd pass along to you...

1) There is a company on the web called calling post dot org...you leave a message in your own voice and it calls and delivers the message to everyone you want for something like .5 a call...my friends are going to leave a "We just had the baby, yada, yada, yada" message and they have a LOT of calls to make (big family, lots of friends, etc) - I think like 100 calls for $5.

2) Someone at the shower collected all of our email addresses and as soon as the baby is here, she is going to organize all of us to bring dinner for them...so they'll have "catered" dinner for the first 3 weeks or so. If you have a *really* good friend who would act like this was her idea....it could be a good thing!

Anyway, hope that helps!

Ames
Wow, Ames, for being due the day after you I sure don't have any of those symptoms yet! I saw the doc today; still 50% effaced, not dilated at all, and baby still high (I don't know what station). I don't feel like labor is near for me at all. I was down half a pound but fundal height had increased 2 cm. Weird. I am EXTREMELY emotional.

Dena~I helped paint too. I thought the fumes would really get to me, but latex paint hardly smells like anything! I understand the need to get it done right. Your DH can set up the furniture.

Martha~I'd call your midwife about the dizziness, hon. Best to be sure about these things.

Dar~Driving really scares me lately too! It seems like everyone is out to get me. I dread even going to the store. Please be careful!

Dal~ Sorry about the morning sickness. It sucks. My first tri was way worse than my third has been, for that reason! Try chicken soup.

Meg~Log cabin baby theme sounds adorable! I have been sewing my own baby bedding, and realized getting just the"right" fabrics I wanted have cost me about 3 times what just buying a new set would have. I guess I'm picky. Plus, I spend $80 on paint for the baby's room from Sherwin Williams. $80!!!! Since when was paint so expensive?

Kim~Hang in there! I love Netflix. They have the HBO TV series (like Sporanos, and also "24") on DVD and those are great to watch too...no commercials, and shorter than a movie, so you can watch several episodes at a time.

Vixen, Michelle, and Shandril~Thanks for the labor advice. Michelle, I saw the cutest sleeper at Baby Gap (or Gymboree?) with little pigs on it! I thought of you, since you call Elana the piggy.

5Foot2~Wow, I WISH someone would organize meal service for us at my shower this weekend! Great idea! Not likely, though.

Later,
Kelley

With my daughter I felt tightening only a couple weeks before she was born... this time I'm already feeling it, have been for a couple weeks... BH have been seen on u/s as early as the 1st trimester so they happen a lot more than we know... it's not unusual to feel them this early, but it's also not unusual to not feel them at all until the very end. As long as they aren't painful or coming at regular intervals then it's all good ~smiles~

Hi again,

Sure Dar, here's a picture of the cabin:

I get to some home to this place after being in downtown DC all day. It's a heck of commute but I totally adore cabin life. We also have 2 huge dogs (filas) so finding room for them this close to big city is tricky at best.

Way cool, Meg, I'm so envious. I remember you posting a pic of one of your dogs. While I like where we live, I'd LOVE to live out in the country.. little bit of land, and quiet!

Hi girls! I keep seeing my name with the "boy?" and have to laugh! It's driving me crazy not to know for sure if it is a boy or a girl..I'm hoping that at my next appointment my doctor will go ahead and do another ultrasound it would make decorating and picking out clothes a whole lot easier!

As fas as the pregnancy everything is going great I am at the point that everytime I eat I get a very full feeling so instead of eating 3 meals I've started to snack through out the day and that seems to be helping.. The baby is moving around from sun up to sun down and I'm starting to wonder if he ever sleeps..

Mandy.. When your aunt did your ultrasound did she say anything about a low laying placenta?.. women who have a low laying placenta often bleed through their pregnancy..I had one in my second pregnancy but it moved in my third trimester.

GoJackets.. Your pictures are great! you definatley have that pregnant glow about you..Somtimes my belly looks very odd but I think it's the way the baby is laying...

I take a picture every month so I can see the difference and wow can I say I went from "I'm never going to show" to "I hope I don't get any bigger"...lol What a difference few weeks make!!

Shelly- My aunt showed me where the placenta was in my u/s and it was at the top, so no low laying placenta. I actually just got off the phone w/my doctor's nurse and I'm going in tomorrow to see what is going on. Hopefully it isn't a big deal, I just hate when I feel that gush of blood come and I can't get to a bathroom to deal with it!

Hope everyone had/is having a good day. I've got to go finish up lesson plans for tomorrow.

Mandy
