Is anyone taking Yasmin 28 birth control?
I started taking Yasmin 28 birth control pills the day before I started low carb (January 3, 2005). I feel like I am gaining weight. Is anyone taking the same bc pills and experiencing the same thing?

I've been taking it for a couple of years and haven't noticed any weight gain at all. In fact, it can act as a diuretic and therefore some people lose weight.
I love it. It has helped my skin clear up and my periods are really light. HTH! |

I know a lot of women have benefits (weight loss) from Yasmin who have PCOS. However I was not one of them
Something about me and oral hormones just do not mix well. I have gained on every pill known to man (even loestrin). I recently had a Mirena IUD put in - I did not get my hopes up with it b/c it releases slight amounts of hormones. But I have NOT had any of the PILL problems while on it - no hormonal side effects. My dr said it was due to the fact that the hormones were not going directly into my bloodstream but were being absorbed by my uterus directly. So far so good.

I'm taking BC pills - but not that brand. I'm taking a strong dose not to prevent pregnancy (husband had a Vas.) but to regulate my TOM. I started the pills about 1 month after i started Atkins. So far it's been ok, i think i'm losing slowly because of that .. but it might be the fact that I don't exercise. ??

I loved Yasim, but I totally gained about 15 pounds. I held water like crazy. But had super smooth skin and light periods. It didn't make me as crazy, or so I thought, until I went off them and my boyfriend said I seemed less moody.

I'm on Yasmin, started in July, (Started Atkins Oct. 2003) and I didn't seem to gain any weight. Before, my breasts would be so sore I would avoid taking off my bra at all costs. They aren't nearly as bad anymore. My skin has not gotten any better though. Maybe it is causing me to lose slower?

I took Yasmin and continued to lose weight with no problem. The dr said it was a diruetic, so I shouldn't have a problem with it, and I didn't. I asked about Depo and she said I'd probably gain 20 lbs...I told her no thank you...I wasn't about to gain the 20 lbs I had lost...

I've been on Yasmin for months and I love it! I've had no negative side effects. I understand your plight tho. Before I started taking them I was scared of weight gain. Give it a shot. You can always get off them if need be.

I have been on Yasmine for over a year (before Atkins) and didn't experience any negative effects and did not notice a weight increase, the positive are great, no longer have adult onset acne, sore breasts, moodiness, or bloating, just feel better being on them. I'm really too scared to go off them too, because I don't want any symptoms to come back even though Atkins is good for these problems.

I am on Yasmin also for cystic ovaries. I gained the first month (only like 2 lbs.) but have since been losing/maintaining. Periods lighter, skin better, and no cramps! My obgyn told me most people's bodies adjust to any bc pill within 3 months, so that whatever effects it has (bloating, water retention) disappear by then. I was on Ovcon 50 before the yasmin (last cyst was 6cm) and boy did that make me gain and give me bad cramps and sore boobs. After a month on the yasmin it all went away.

I guess everyone is different... I have PCOS and Yasmin is supposed to be the best of the BC pills for that. I, however, did not respond well to it at all. I retained water, was extremely moody and had horrible headaches. Orthocyclene seems to work better for me. I also only take them to regulate my cycle.
