Good morning ladies!

Hopefully Kay&Lydi is doing well after her C-section yesterday and holding her baby.

I made an appointment for a gender determination u/s on June 21st! I'll be exactly 19 weeks then so they should be abel to see just fine... yeah!!!

Vixendrop....couldn't resist here. I'm guessing you meant February 21st?! That's great that you will find out soon!

Chels_hoff, I'm all for unique names, but that is crazy! That poor kid. If it is hard to spell or pronounced or just plain stupid it should be banned from use...what are these parents thinking.

LOL! That's why I can't eat most veggies. They make me too miserable to be worth it! On top of that the gas is so bad that is stinks me out and makes me want to hurl! This better go away the day I give birth!

Wake up a couple hours later, on my back, and suffocating under two dogs who, when they sleep are more like 200 lbs instead of 40. *sigh* Get up to pee, shoo the dogs back off the bed and try to get comfortable again. They immediately jump back up to find themselves a spot, which is usually occupied by me at the same time. Argh... This happens a couple times a night.. I either wake up because I'm uncomfortable or because I have to pee, and it's always a struggle to get two sleepy dogs to cooperate with me. All the while I'm also fighting with my cat for head pillow space. It's enough to drive me crazy some nights.

Why in the world they want to sleep on ME and not DH is a mystery. I guess I'm softer? More gullible? I'm not sure...

This morning, I woke up on my back with my younger pup standing on me licking my face and one arm was asleep. Not sure if it's cause I was on my back or because I had slept on my arm, then just rolled over at the last minute.
I don't know how you girls sleep with dogs like that. My cats I had growing up would sleep at the end of the bed and never bothered me. My husband won't allow our cats in the bedroom now...they get shut downstairs. But it's probably a good thing, because one of the cats would probably be waking my husband up to get fed at 6am in the morning. I keep them out during the day when I'm sleeping, because I don't want the light from the hallway to shine in. I just can't imagine a couple dogs in the bed though!

No SmileyAmy yesterday?

Hi to everyone else!

My aunt is coming over this morning to help me put the nursery together. It will still be a bit before I take pictures though. I've got to figure out what I'm gonna put above the crib to fill the big hole on the wall. I've got a few ideas, but haven't decided on anything yet. Also, my MIL hasn't brought the rocking chair yet. They probably won't be coming before the baby comes though, so I might just have to take pictures with a big space in the corner. We'll see.

I guess that's all for now! Have a great day!

Hi all- I'm just kind of following along and reading all your posts from Thursday.

Chels- Yes I did get your post the other night about being night owls! Thanks!! BTW- My real name is Chelsie. When I'm reading through the posts I still have to remind myself it's not me!!!! (I just use my daughter's name, Aedon, for things online.) Everyone can still refer to me as Aedie though. Otherwise that would be confusing!!!

I'm going to be really busy the next week...so if I don't post, don't worry, I'll be back, but I'll try to read up when I can.

See ya girls!!!!

Aedie (Chelsie) - you'll have to forgive me in advance if I don't remember your real name. Hope you get to feeling better soon so you can get back to TTC! Did you say the divorce will be final this coming Tuesday? How exciting! Are you planning to get married right away? Or do you have a big shindig planned?

Ames - Honestly, I can't sleep without my dogs in the bed. They are great snuggle bunnies. It's just when they are alseep, they really like to stretch out. It was never a problem until lately for me. I still can't imagine not having them on the bed with me. If we could only find a compromise.. they're not used to the position I sleep in now. Although, I have to say they are working on it. Lately, they've been curling up behind my legs, which helps keep me on my side.

I had THE worst charley horse of my life this morning. Last night we had an agility party.. food, soda, and as many runs on the courses as our doggies (or us) could handle. Well, I did four full runs plus lots of other running around and playing. And I only drank soda, no water. I got up to pee 4 times during the night (a new record so far) and then was stricken with a cramp. Thank goodness DH gets them alot and knows how to make them go away. I couldn't even move I was in so much pain!

TGIF!!!!!

Good morning ladies!!

**silly question alert**

When your baby started moving, did you feel it everywhere, was it high, was it low?

The reason I ask goes back to the gas thing.....

I keep feeling movements that are quite low....almost near my rear end (if that makes sense)....but it doesn't feel like gas normally would....but I have had gas for the last few days.....

I'm frustrated because I don't know if I am feeling the baby or feeling gas!

I been passing it for 31 years, you'd think I would be able to recognize it.

Would the baby moving low?

Dena, you should know by now, there are NO silly questions!!

When I first started feeling it, it was little flutters in a concentrated area, very low, but then she was small. As she gets bigger, I can tell (for the most part) where her arms are vs. her legs based on the amount of movement and the strength. Sometimes I feel it near the surface of my tummy, other times towards my back. I'm pretty sure she's upside down, I feel her arms down low, sometimes really low in my pelvic area. I think she's moving all around while she has room... I feel kicks in all different places during the day.

You're a couple weeks behind me.. you should start getting some kicks in the ribs. I had my first one about a week ago.

Sometimes it does feel like gas, honestly. Hoping for your sake it's baby.

kclynn! Congrats! I'm pregnant with my first, too.

Morning all...... Welcome kclynn and congrats!

GoJackets- When I started feeling baby it was very low, I wondered if it was just gas also, But then I started recognizing the Fluttery feelings for what they were. I carried her very low until about the 6th or 7th month (when she moved directly under my ribs).... there were times when she started getting bigger that I felt like she was falling out lol OH and for me, the gas didin't disappear until about a week after I had her....

vixendrop- GL with the u/s I hope you are able to see what it is... I had one each month and we never were able to see what we were having... neither of my girls would cooperate during u/s lol

Dar20- those are pure torture! I had them often with my first pg but not this one.... I was so thankful for that! One thing that helped me avoid them the first time was to eat a small banana each day (for the potassium)... once I started doing that the cramps all but stopped.... I might have had one or two more in the following months but that was better than nightly....

Hi Ladies! Still here, still pregnant. Hi to the new mommies who have joined us

Well it was a very exiting day yesterday. I got to have a nice dry run for our hospital visit. I started having contractions at work. Very hard, very close together. Well, our resident RN happened to stroll by and caught me bent over in pain and just freaked out! Which of course sent all the other ladies into a tizzy thinking I had just gone into labor. Well the contractions WERE really close together, so I can't really blame them.

Anyway, they called the paramedics! Six very large, very young, very good looking gentlemen came to my aid, put in an IV (with an 18 gauge needle no less!!! ) and took me to the hospital via ambulance. Got the five star treatment though when they found out my uncle is one of them and their resident firefighting manual illustrator. It never fails, as soon as I tell my last name to a firefighter, they're like "Any relation to..."

I had the car, and we only have the one, but thankfully my friend had just had her husband come to pick her up so they took the car to my hubby so he could meet me at the hospital. My mom went to pick my daughter up from daycare.

So I get to the hospital and the firefighters wheel me in and proceed to get lost in the hospital trying to get me labor and delivery. At this point the contractions had died down and I was having fun with the situation. We had to find the right elevator (we were in the wrong ones I guess). We make it in finally and I get a really nice nurse named Gina who gets me all settled and (bless her) removes the IV from my arm and gets me hooked up to the monitor. I am already feeling much better by this point. The baby's heartbeat is great, and I am fresh out of bad contractions. They do an internal check (no mean feat cause the baby's head is in the way of my cervix I find out) and the nurse says I am at 3cm, no change in effacement from my last dr. visit. Water did not break so I was just to sit tight and see if anything happened. Well 2.5 hours later nothing did so I got to go home, but not before my new nurse ( I just had to get there in time for shift change! ) Did a final internal, which hurt like hell. Since they saw no changes I was free to go.

So My hubby and I promptly went out for mexican food and I feasted on cheese enchiladas.

Well, the good thing is I now know exactly what to do, who to call, and where to go . I also now have had my biggest nightmare visited upon me (labor at work) and I survived it so I figure everything is just cake from here.

I've talked at ya enough! Have a great day everyone!

Hi Ladies...
...not much new here (other than my weight, which I am hoping is WRONG, so I'm not updating my siggie yet )

Ali~I had a lot of U/S in the beginning too(I was "high risk" because I am 35) and I think the level 2 was done at the perinatologist's office and during the nuchal translucency scan. Their U/S machine was much more sensitive than the one at my OB's office, and the techs do nothing but U/Ss all day, everyday. I think it really depends on the skill of the tech too to see how fast and accurately they can find stuff. One really good tech identified "girl parts" at 13 weeks! Amnio confirmed she was right. Afterwards, they sent in the students to practice on me...DH was not pleased to have our little bean bombarded by U/S waves. Do you get a U/S every single month? They are so cool.

Shandril~How exciting to have a pre-delivery personalized tour! I'm glad everything is okay...I would have though for sure that was the "real thing" too! Why are firefighters so cute? I see a bunch of them shopping in the grocery store occasionally (they do things in groups, which seems to magnify their cuteness) and start to drool.

Surfdol~ Gas didn't go away till a week AFTER delivery?!? That is one of the things I looks forward to most! how's your lil' one?

Dar~I agree with Ames or whoever said it, I would go crazy with pets anywhere near me when I sleep! Just the jingling of the collar, etc. Whenever I tell my DH "breakfast's ready", my dog gets up and comes in too though .

Dena~I'm sure you're feeling baby. I don't think your uterus is too much above your belly button anyway right now...but I'd have to check my baby weekly book, and that would involve getting my a$$ out of this chair....

Vixen~Good luck on your in-depth U/S! Sounds like they will have many opportunities to find out what you really have in there!

Casey, and congrats!

Aedie~What a pretty, unusual name your DD has! That is lovely.

Hi Chels and Ames!

Later...
Kelley

Hi guys!

Shandril-wow, lots of excitement!

Dena-You should definatly be feeling movement by 23 weeks. I felt mine down really low until 25 weeks (felt like twitching muscules to me), now he his head down facing my back, so all of the movement is just felt internally, everywhere. My dd keeps wanting to feel him kick, she hasn't in a couple of weeks now. I hope the baby stays in this position.

Dar-Ouch! Luckily I've only gotten one leg cramp, and it was a few weeks ago. My calf was sore for 3 days. I try to eat a banana or avacodo everyday and I haven't had one since.

I have an appt on Monday. I am soooo missing my previous doctor that I had with DD. I wish I could switch, but he is 2.5 hours away. This clinic, is just all about wanting money. The doctor's fee has to be paid in full one month before my due date. And our insurance changed Jan 1, so I told them we would wait until after the first of the year before I paid them anything. Well, they've kept sending me bills and asking for money at each doctor visit. And get this, all I have to pay now is a $100 deductable and everything else is paid 100%!!!!!! We have such good insurance. But we won't have the $100 until after DH gets paid at the end of the month, we are flat broke right now thanks to Christmas. I just want to tell them where to stick it! At my prevoious doc , they waited until AFTER the baby was born to even file it to the ins, and then we sat up my payment plan at my 6 week postpartum check up.

I also don't know how you all sleep with your animals! Speaking of which, my poor kitten, he's 4.5 months old, got fixed yesterday and I also had his front claws taken out. He had to spend the night at the Vet. I feel so guilty putting him through the pain of getting declawed. I've literally broke down cring several times. I am against doing that to an animal, but the deal was with DH, that if he is going to be an indoor cat, and since we have kids, and leather furniture, he's have to get the front ones taken out. Everytime he scratches DD and everytime I look at the back of our leather couch and how much its gotten torn up, I kept telling myself it will be for the better. Now after its all said and done and he's back home....in pain, I feel so guilty-what was I thinking?!

Yeah, fun, huh? I was so embarrassed in the hospital... it's one thing to have it at home but at the hospital where there is no where to run and hide! LOL

Ok... I have a few minutes *crossing fingers*, Emily Jean is sleeping (hubby decided he wanted to call her by her middle names rather than her first.... sigh... not sure if I have mentioned that before but I didn't want to confuse anyone, lol)
SO... time for Birth story...
On Monday the 20th I had a doc appt. scheduled but I got up and took a shower (everything was fine) and then I got out and started to dry off, couldn't reach my lower legs so I had to sit on the potty to dry them... of course by this time in PG, just looking a one made me have to go (LOL) so I did and discovered I was bleeding (alot), scared the daylights out of me. I called the doc office and then sent me straight to the hospital (Oh did I mention hubby has walking pneumonia also? poor guy doesn't even remember driving me to the hospital, lol)... got there they did all of the *fun* checks and tests and placed me on the monitors (having a high cervix makes for very painful checks)... anyhow I was only 1 cm & 50% effaced (huge bummer!) so the doc wanted me to walk the halls (anyone else get to do this before? Boring and tiring), I walked for a good 3 hours before they checked me again, very little change.... they contacted my doc and she decided she wanted to try me on a small amount of petocin (not sure if I spelled that right) to see if we could get things going... apparently the bleeding I had early on (which had stopped) was me losing the plug... nothing like I was told or read about....
So they put me on the petocin at around 1:00pm (been at the hospital since 9:00am)... I stayed on it until around 11:00pm, was having mild contractions but still no change so my doc decided to turn it off and let me rest for the night and try again on Tuesday... well an hour after they turn it off I go into full blown *real* labor and got no sleep all night (lol)... by about 3:00pm Tuesday I was in so much pain I am sure the entire floor could hear me hollering! I was determined not to have an epidural because of my bad experience with it the first pg but my doc finally talked me into it and OH MY, I loved it! Having a good doctor (who knows what they are doing and who is a nice/caring person) made all the difference in the world! I was worried because of my weight, that he wouldn't be able to do it but he said no problem and was appalled at the treatment I received the 1st time... anyhow, once that was done I went to 10 & 100% within an hour and then spent the next 2 & 1/2 hours pushing (that was much harder than I imagined lol).... you know, it is nothing like it appears on tv! Emily got stuck under my pelvic bone and my doc had a surgeon come in and evaluate me to see if there was anything else they could do short of surgery... about the time he walked in, Emily finally got under the bone and it was just about 30 mins later she was born. Unfortunately she was born with a Pneumo Thorax (I know I spelled that one wrong lol) which means that she had air in her chest cavity outside of the lungs... it makes it hard for them to breath (lungs can't properly expand) and the heart has to work harder... they treat it by placing the infant in a pure oxygen bath until the air is absorbed by the body. She was in the NIC unit for 48 hours and then they let her come home with me.... the thing that was hardest for me was not being able to hold her right away or nurse her right away, but she is doing great now... just had a doc appointment yesterday and has gaind a pound and a whole inch since birth (just a little over 2 weeks, lol)....
Well I better end this it is getting to be way long (Sorry this has been so long)... I sure hope that everyone else has a wonderful birth experience and if you are offered an epidural, think seriously on it... you still feel the contractions but they are a pressure rather than pain and it really helps you relax (if you are having any trouble at all) so that you can *almost* enjoy the experience...

Thank you for sharing!!! It sounds like a roller coaster ride, but I'm still hung on walking the halls for three hours!

PS - If we have a girl, we are naming her Emily! We've had that named picked out a while......one of my favorites!

Sorry you are feeling bad about your furbaby. Putting them through any kind of surgery is difficult because they can't talk to you about it. I just went through surgery with my cat, thought he was going to have to go through it again so I cried and cried. Fortunately, they decided against repeating it. It was such a relief!

I have been feeling the baby for sure since about 20 weeks. I just have noticed more movement, but I have had severe gas at the same time and have been hoping it was the baby....not the gas. Actually, what you described makes me feel better because I can say it feels like "twitching muscles" too. And they are low....almost like in my hiney.

Kristee, thanks so much for telling your story! Sounds like she's a real trooper and I'm glad you're not having trouble nursing since you missed out on the first 48 hrs. I really want to breastfeed, and I'm trying to convince myself it's okay if we're not successful, so I won't be disappointed. Unfortunately, my hormones wreak havoc with me. I don't know why I'm so convinced it won't work.

Heather, your little guy will be fine. I know lots of folks think it's cruel, but sometimes it's just something you have to do. Both of my kitties are declawed. For one of them.. thank god... you'd think you were castrating him every time you tried to trim his back claws.

You know, I nursed with my first child and had no problems at all but with this one I did have a few problems right at first and still once in awhile even now... she tends to try to suck wrong, she suck on her lips or her own tongue before I can present the nipple (lol) sometimes she looks like she has sucked on a lemon... She tends to be a very demanding eater, meaning when she is hungry she wants to eat *yesterday* and I can't move fast enough for her, this makes it a little difficult sometimes too because she gets so upset I have to try and calm her while trying to get her to nurse lol.... what I am saying is even if you have problems at first, don't get discouraged, just keep trying, even if you have to supplement with a bottle, keep trying to nurse... find a nurse at the hospital who is kind, calm and helpful (I had a few who got a little impatient with me and one even try to take a hold of me to guide me to the baby, I put a quick stop to that... LOL) I also suggest checking around online for breastfeeding sites to help learn some alternative *holds* for nursing... my biggest problem is my big chest, it makes it hard to see what I am doing and to help the baby latch on... I found the easiest way to nurse her is to use what is called the "football" hold (basically tuck the baby under your arm like a football and nurse that way, you'd need to see a pic to understand), it was the easiest & least stressful way for me to do it and the baby seems to be able to latch on very easily this way too... I also use a pillow to help prop her up closer to my chest rather than trying to hold her up high enough, that was a big help too.

Thanks, Kristee. My fear probably just stems from the fact I have the opposite problem.. hardly any chest. I look at myself and wonder, "How in the world would those provide any nutrition to a baby?! She'll starve!" And I'm just a pessimist at heart.
