Good morning ladies!

Congratulations GetNSlim! Can't wait to hear your birth story.

I'm assuming Surfdol had her baby as well. She hasn't been on since early last month. Hope everything went well and she checks in soon!

I'm trying to down play everthing that my MIL does for me/us, and give my mom a lot of positive reinforcement. Hopefully someone will have some good suggestions for me. The stress can get really bad......
I know my mother is jealous. But then again we didn't talk to each other for 3 1/2 years and our relationship is still strained, so I'm not letting it bother me. If she wants to have a relationship with me and my family she is just going to have to get over it. My MIL has gone overboard with the baby stuff I admit, but it's not like she has gone out and bought it brand new. Most of it she has gotten from other family and friends and lots of clothes at garage sales. When my parents visited a month and a half ago she saw all the stuff my MIL got and didn't say anything, but I know that she is jealous and just knows better than to open her mouth. Sorry, I'm probably not much help here since my relationship is still strained with my mother, but don't let it stress you, ok?

Well, today I get to meet with the midwife. I am sooo excited! I hope this all works out and I can quit stressing about the birth. My husband and I would like to tour the other hospital as soon as possible too, but they only have tours on Tuesdays at 11am.....which would be fine, but we've had a flurry of sick calls at work the last few days and I just have this feeling I'm going to have to cover one since I'm off this week, so I hesitate setting up a tour this week.

Speaking of getting sick, I can't believe how many people around me are getting sick. I'm getting nervous that I'm gonna catch something nasty. I've been kind of paranoid about it the last few days. At work I've wiped the whole desk down with alcohol....even the pens and pencils too! I avoided shaking hands at church and even made sure to drink extra before so I'd have to make more bathroom trips to wash my hands! It must be the post holiday sickness or something....it just better stay away from me!

Well, I guess that's all for now ladies. Have a great day!

Hi!

I've been maintaining for about 6 months now. My fiance and I are going to start "trying."

(note: He would be my husband but my ex has created lots of trouble with the divorce. our final court date is Jan 11th. hopefully all will be settled and my fiance and I can get on with our lives...nearly 3 years later!!!)

So I hope you don't mind me jumping into your thread!!

I have so many questions... I won't ask them all now!

I have one 3-year old with my ex. I am so nervous about getting pregnant again. The first time I gained 60 lbs!!! I kept it on for 2 years. I am so scared to be fat again!!

How do you deal with that????

TIA for any input.

Also- Good for you for checking in with a midwife! They can be such a wealth of information. I did the "bradley method" of childbirth with my daughter. All natural. The only thing I wish I would have done, is have her at home, with a midwife. They are so knowledgable!!!

Morning Ladies!!

GetNSLim......congrats and to Jonathan! Can't wait to hear your story and see pics of your little New Years Eve bundle!

Aedekins.... , you'll love this buncha ladies! I can't relate to the being fat "again" theory as I have never been "thin".... however, you lost those 60, you'll lose these as well now that you know how Perhaps you'll be as some of us and not gain as much this time around because of already established healthier habits. Good luck to you in trying!!

Dar.....OMG don't even ask HOW it happened all of these people are here. Seriously, I'm surprised I haven't had more than 2 emotional breakdowns due to my anxiety and frustrations of my household right now. I'm seriously OVER it and praying for Thursday to arrive quickly!!! The best advice I could give about family staying post-birth to help....only do it if they truly are going to HELP and not be on "vacation" in their minds. I can't wait for my own mother to arrive next week as she's already looking forward to deep cleaning my whole house for me, doing laundry and cooking (heck she's already sent a steak delivery to get ready).

Hi to everyone else

Well, hopefully today is the big day and we'll find out at noon if Elana is coming home today. I can't believe how nervous I am. You'd think I would have slept like a baby forever last night (as it will be the last night I get) but I couldn't. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited....but with all her illnesses we battled, scared of something happening to her while I sleep because I won't hear it. Usual fear I know...simply delayed since she hasn't been home yet. I'll post later in the day to let ya'll know if she was released.

Congrats Slim and WELCOME Jonathan!!!! So glad to hear that he finally decided to join us!

Michelle, great point about making sure they come to HELP and not vacation. That's part of my problem, though.. I hate it when my MIL "helps".. I end up having to fix half of what she does. At least my mother asks where I want things before she just does something. I also have trouble accepting help in my own house. Makes me feel like a failure or something.

Man, reading back on my posts from the weekend, I sure was in a crappy mood!!! Talk about ranting and raving. See how much my in-laws stress me out!

Aedie, !!! Like you, many of us feared getting too fat or 'fat again'. Well, for most of us, once morning sickness set in, all of our favorite Atkins foods went out the window. For me, not really by choice. I love steak, but since getting pg, I can't stand the sight of red meat.. cooked or raw. For a while, I couldn't stand veggies, either. It's gotten better, and I'm making an attempt to do better. However, it's been tough and sometimes I just gotta have a sandwich.. not matter how good I try to be.

On the up side, and what we all try to remember, is that we've lost the weight with low carb.. we know it works, and it will work again post-baby. Just remember that gaining weight is all part of being pregnant. I have trouble with that. I still try to suck in my tummy.. then I remember that I can't! It's just habit.

Feel free to ask any questions!

Baby-wise, I'm doing okay here. I have another dr's appt. this week. Man, it feels like I just had one! Baby has been using my bladder as a punching bag the past couple days. It would be funny if it didn't make me have to pee every time she hit it. I can tell that's what she's hitting because every so often I feel this small twinge that I need to use the restroom (even if I just did), then it suddenly goes away.

Welcome Johnathan Charles & Congrats Slim!
Can't wait to hear how it all went.

Michelle~I hope Elana gets to come home today!!! It does sound like your in-laws are enjoying their "vacation". I guess they're lucky the baby's not there to disturb their sleep patterns or anything. Your Mom, on the other hand, sounds super organized so yay for that! I can't believe she sent steak in advance! Yay Grandma!

Aediekins! I hope your ex-hubby issues get resolved soon so you can get on with your new life! Your fiance is a cutie! Good luck TTC. The fun is in the trying. It is hard to see the scale creep up when pregnant, especially for me when it passed my pre-Atkins start weight. Mainly I added real milk (skim), whole grains, and FRUIT!!! to my diet, but only when I found out for sure I was PG. So, while pregnant, we stick mainly to a Maintenance diet (when not eating French fries). I try to cut back on artificial sweeteners too. How was the Bradley method? I couldn't find a Bradley class around here, so took Hypnobirthing. I will deliver in a hospital (or maybe in the car on the way there, LOL).

Dar~Today is the day I start sewing my baby bedding, I swear!

Dierdre and Ames~Good luck dealing with the jealous Moms. Usually its the MIL who's jealous, but I guess every relationship is different. I agree, it's not your problem to make them feel more secure. My MIL has bought and sent a lot of stuff (mainly pink, which we didn't really want), and my Mom has not really bought much, but she lives close so I know she will be here a lot. She already gave babysitting vouchers to us for Christmas.

Hi Smiley!

Well, my hubby just gave me his travel schedule for this month and up until the baby's born...he will be gone A LOT! I'm not really worried, though. I just hope she's on time. I guess he's just a 2-hour plane ride away...

Good morning everyone. Hope you all had a happy new year.

Ames- Good luck meeting the midwife today.

Aediekins- Welcome! Good luck TTC!

Michelle- Crossing my fingers that Elana gets to come home today. She had been such a trooper.

Dar- I hope baby gives your bladder a break!

All is going well in my world. I probably won't be around most of the week. Dh was allowed one final pass, and since he can't come home I'll be driving to Louisiana tomorrow to visit him for a few days. This will be the last time I see him for a long time. I just can't believe he's actually leaving for Iraq this week. It has really snuck up on me.

Gotta go eat some breakfast. I hope everyone has a good day.

Mandy

What is it about french fries?! I swear they will be the death of me.... Although I did try the baked potato at Wendy's for the first time about a week ago.. man it was gooood! Yay for Wendy's offering choices with their combos now!

Ok, you reminded me of something, Kelley. DH went to the outlet mall with the fam last week, and they went to the Little Me store. They have the cutest clothes for babies!!! It's expensive, but the outlet mall has great deals (like buy 1, get 2 free). He brought home a couple pieces from their Lullaby Dreams collection. Here's the blanket he got... Yellow Blanket. And he got a pink outfit that matches it.. Pink Romper. It is SOOO cute (I love the little giraffe), and the colors are perfect (the room is blue and green with yellow trim).. I'm going to try to use this piece for inspiration for bedding for the room. I'll let you know how it goes.

Mandy, to you. I can't even imagine what you are going through with DH going to Iraq.

I am finally growing out of them a bit, now that I'm almost 8 months along...meaning I don't do a screeching U-turn in front of every Carl's Jr I see. I also was quite the connisseur when it came to fat food french fries. Here are my findings, feel free to add your opinions:

Best fries: Carl's Junior
Worst Fries: In-N-Out (surprising because they're from fresh potatoes and their burgers are the best (esp. "protein style")
First runner-up best fries: Mc Donald's
Second runner-up best fries: Wendy's...IF you remember to ask for salt because they don't salt them...that's what I go for!
Others:
Burger King: hit and miss; stale frying oil
Arby's Curly fries: Waaay too much oil, and battered (yuck!)

Yah, I've done my research. BTW Dar, that baby romper and blankie are sooo cute! Your DH scored!

Hi Tracy!

Mandy~ have fun with your hubby. Doesn't the military provide free midwives for pregnant spouses of deployed troops? Any chance your hubby can come home for the birth? If you have USAA, they give a $50 rebate for car seat purchases!

Hmm.. fries for me...

Here's my list, although can a group of two really be a 'list'?:
Best - Wendy's (I like the kind with a bit of 'meat' to them, like Ore Ida steak fries)
Second - McD's.. I go for these when I'm in the mood for salty, more crunchy fries
or Steak-n-Shake, but only with cheese sauce and that can be expensive!

That's about the only ones I really care for. We have Hardee's, instead of Carl's Jr. and they are so hit or miss (and there's only one in all of Tampa). Arby's curly fries always leave me feeling really icky, and BK just plain sucks to me. Checker's are okay, but a bit too spicy for me and I think the spice makes me a little ill afterwards.

I can't remember In-n-Out's fries, I just remember really liking their burgers.

Sheesh.. I was good today and even brought a lunch, but guess what I'm craving?! Good thing I have no cash on me!

Hi ladies!

Well, I am back from the dr. and I am 2 cm dialated and 60-70% effaced. Cervix is soft. Head is engaged. No one here at work thinks I'll make it to my due date.

I had a seriously uncomfortable night last night, up every hour to pee and had lots of BH contractions.

On the personal front I am doing well. Attitude is good, if a little frustrated wanted to be over with this and feeling so unprepared this time around.

Will post later on if anything changes.

Have a great day everyone!

Alright, ladies, here is a link http://www.sheridanhospital.org/babi...31Jonathan.JPG to the only pic online right now. I will have to borrow my brother's digital camera to try to get some more for you. His face looks a little blue because he came out so fast that he had bruising on his face!
Here is my story:

I got up at 5:00 a.m. on Friday to take a shower and get all ready to go to the hospital. We got there at 6:00 a.m. and I was given my I.V. with the antibiotics for the Group B. I was already contracting on my own when I got there, but they gave me a very LITTLE dose of pitocin to keep them going. The doctor came in about 8:30 to check me and said I was about 6 1/2 cm., a plus 2 station, and pretty much completely efaced. The contractions weren't hurting at all at this point, just slightly uncomfortable. Well, because the doctor thought I was already 6 1/2 cm he decided he didn't want to break my water. So...I basically labored like this for the next 3 hours. I knew the contractions couldn't be doing much because they didn't hurt. So, at 11:48 a.m. the doctor came back and saw that I had really dialated that much further, so he broke my water. From that point on it went very fast. I did end up getting a dose of Nubain to take the edge of the contractions since I went from 6 c.m. to 10 and pushing him out all within an hour and a half. I asked the nurse to check me about 30 minutes after he had broke my water and I was to 8, then 4 contractions later I told her I wanted her to check me again because I really felt the pressure to push. So she checked me and I was ready to push. The doctor came in and told me to go ahead and push. I pushed for about 10 min. and he came out. I didn't tear and the doctor's at our hospital don't do episiotomies anymore, so that is great. Jonathan got a 9 on the APGAR score for 1 min. and a 10 on the APGAR score for 5 min. My SIL who gave the baby up for adoption in Sept was able to be in there with us and we even let her cut the cord...and I think it was a great healing process for her. Jonathan is already doing great with sleeping atleast from 3-7 in the morning so I can get atleast 4 hours of straight sleep. I had a wonderful birth experience and only pray that they go as well for you all!!

Welcome Jonathan (cutie!) and congrats GetNSlim! How wonderful!

Welcome Aediekins!

Congrats BrattyChelle! I'm so happy your little girl comes home! How exciting!

I agree about the allure of french fries! Since starting LC I never craved fries at all, even though they'd always been a pre-LC favorite... but once I became pregnant I could NOT stay away!

My favorites are (in no particular order really):
Carl's Jr Crisscut fries - OMG! That's all I can say
Burger King - the ones here are always perfect!
Claim Jumper - not fast food, but still the most amazing fries I've ever had!

That's it... all the others are basic.

Anyway... I just got back from my follow up appointment... my regular midwife was booked so I saw a different one... I like her too... I'd seen her once before when I panicked... she's really nice... everyone there is ~smiles~
Everything is fine, so no more pelvic rest... looks like I just overdid myself that day and got worn out. Phew!

OMG... one I forgot... Chik-Fil-A waffle fries!!! Considering how awesome their sandwiches are, their fries are pretty darn good, too! Must be the peanut oil.

GetNslim~What a cutie Johnathan is! Look at all that hair! He looks very healthy. Thanks for sharing your story; you make it sound easy! Something for us to aspire to. How do they administer the Nubain? Any side effects that you noticed? You didn't have an epidural, did you? Yay for no episiotomy and no tearing!

Michelle~Congrats on bringing Elana home today!

Vixen~Congrats on no more pelvic rest!

Thanks for all your encouragement!!

It sounds like most of you are in the late stages of prenancy? What's everyones stats as far as pregnancy or TTC (I'm assuming that's trying to concieve.)

I am going to try to be very good while pregnant. Last time I ate whatever I wanted. This time I will be good!!!

The Bradley methed was great. They teach you how to relax. But most of all they train the husband (or whoever is going to be in there with you) to pick up your signals as far as what you need so you never have to ask. And they teach you how to plan everything out and decide different scenarios beforehand so he can take charge and tell the doctor what you need so you can focus on giving birth. I highly recommend it!!!

Congrats on Getnslim!!!!! How wonderful!!!

Aedie, take a look at the very first post of the thread. This has everyone listed who is TTC (yes, that's trying to conceive), who is currently pregnant, and everyone who has delivered in the past couple months. It's updated daily and each day's thread has it in the first post. Everyone who is listed has posted here at some time or another. Many of us are more chatty than others, and some have not posted in quite awhile, so the person that keeps that list updated (currently is Ames) attempts to contact those people to see how they are doing and if they wish to stay listed.

I started out on the list as TTC, and have gradually moved my way up!

That is week whatever of pregnancy. Next to my name is W10, because I'm 10 weeks pregnant. Etc., etc., etc.
