Well, it is barely Thursday here...only 12:05 a.m....but once again I can't sleep. Looks like once again something didn't work. I ate the Eggplant Parmesan for dinner...and it didn't do anything. I have to admit that I am just so totally frustrated!! This is so horrible just waiting. I feel like everytime someone calls and asks if I've been having contractions that day and I say, "Oh, only a few," or whatever that I am LETTING THEM DOWN! I am SUCH a people pleaser that this is like a nightmare for me! Anyway, who better to rant to then people who will be going through this same thing or people who already have! I will be back in the (real) morning to do personals. I just couldn't sleep and had to get that off my chest!!

Ames-Hope you have a good night at work!!

Good morning ladies!

Good to see the board active again yesterday.

If not I would look into switching, guess I am lucky that my HMO offers both.
Haven't even started on the room. We've pretty much gotten everything...now I just need the motivation to put it all together. My MIL didn't bring the rocking chair yet as she was getting it reapolstered....so there will still be a "hole" in the room once we get everything else done.

If I don't come away from my next prenatal appointment feeling confident and assured, we are seriously gonna look at switching. The only thing I am having anxiety about lately is losing control during the labor when I will be the most vulnerable.....that is a very scary thought to me and I know one that isn't gonna help the situation.

Yes, I hired a doula and she will be there during the birth to assist me. I had wanted a midwife before I even became pregnant, but my husband at the time wasn't comfortable with it and then after I learned I was Group B Strep positive I just assumed it was out of the question. Now that my husband realized that the further along I get in my pregnancy the more apprehensive I am about having an OB deliever he's becoming more open to other options. He's done quite a bit of research the last few weeks and even called the insurance company the other day and learned that certified nurse midwives that deliever in hospitals are coverd by our insurance. But like I said yesterday that is going to require a switch to a different hospital and transfer of prenatal care. I'm just a little apprehensive about switching so late in the game, but the more I think about it the more appealing it is sounding. I'll just have a lot of paper work to redo in the next few weeks, LOL!

I've pretty much made up my mind about how I would like to labor assuming everthing is going ok. It is going to be a matter of feeling comfortable that the person who is going to deliever is ok with my preferences. At the last prenatal appointment I came away feeling uncomfortable with the answers I got regarding fetal monitoring, episotomies, and birthing positions. I will be discussing these again and look for better and more direct answers on Tuesday at my next appointment. If I still come away feeling uncomfortable hopefully we won't have any trouble trying to switch to a midwife this late in the game. I doubt they would turn me away unless they are already booked up for the month of February....they're all getting a buck too ya know.

Good to see you back Rooney! You sound just like me during my first and half of the second trimesters. It is nice when the hubby does all the work....but it feels even better when you have enough energy to do it yourself!

Do you subscribe to this theory???
Oh, I love my sleep number bed. I sleep like a rock on most days. I only had a two week period where I had trouble sleeping in the second trimester. It's pretty rare for me to not get at least 8 hours of sleep a day. I haven't been getting up to pee more than one or two times either and have no problems falling back asleep. I have to say I've had little to complain about this trimester.

Hi to all the other ladies!

Michelle and all the others that want to hang around, DO SO! I went over to the challenge board and read what they had to say about combining threads and I can see why they don't want to. But you are more than welcome to hang around. Before ya know it a lot of us will be venturing over there ourselves and we will all be back together. And by the sounds of it, several ladies over there will be back here!

Well, I guess that is all for now. Have a great day ladies!

Actually, I'm off and at home tonight! Good thing to as we have a chance of freezing rain in the morning...that wouldn't have been a good drive home from work.

Sorry the Eggplant parmesan didn't work. The baby will come when it's ready I guess.....Have you tried drinking that red raspberry tea or taking Evening primrose oil? My doula said that the last month I should be drinking at least 3 cups of the tea a day and when I do go in labor I should be sipping on it continously. The tea helps strenghten the uterus and encourage contractions, especially in large amounts. Maybe you should just drink the tea all day tomorrow! Also, the last two weeks she recommends that I take 3 capsules of evening primrose oil orally and then the last week also insert 2 vaginally before bed to help ripen the cervix. Don't know if these would help as it sounds like it is more a gradual thing to work up to instead of desperate measures to kickstarting labor....but I guess it might be worth a shot! Just remember, you won't be pregnant forever!

Morning Girls~

Well, I spoke with the OB nurse & my 1-hour GTT was 155 (cut-off is 140.) I have to go in on Monday morning for the 3-hour test, which works out well, since I also have an ultrasound on Monday afternoon. I also have to go in this afternoon for my Rhogam shot, which I'm not looking forward to .

Ames~ Hope you're able to get some good answers from your OB at your appointment on Tuesday & if not that you're able to switch easily to someone you're more comfortable with!

Slim~ Wow, so sorry to hear that the eggplant didn't work! I can understand your frustration on the whole people calling thing. When I was pregnant with Mackenzie, people would call me constantly to see if I was in labor yet & it drove me batty! One even called my hospital room while I was in labor to ask (she really didn't mean any harm, just trying to be cute) & I refuesed to even talk to her (of course, I felt a little bad afterward.)

Chelle~ Thanks for your PM! Hope Elana is doing well today!

Good Morning!

I wanted to take today off, but a bunch of projects landed in my lap so I guess I'll work while I can.

Does anyone have special New Year's Eve plans? I got some alcohol-free champagne, and they always have fireworks around here, we can see them from the house. It has snowed a lot lately, so I really don't feel like driving anywhere or (God forbid ) Going out and staying up till midnight. But then, I feel like I should make an effort since this is our last kid-less New Year's.

Ames~Thanks for posting your pic too! I really need to take more pictures. Somehow I don't believe I can get bigger than this! I don't have stretch marks yet, but I have heard of some women who think they're in the clear and then get them the last week of pregnancy or that they show up AFTER delivery or something, so I'm holding my breath. My boobs are a little fuller, but I am in exactly the same bra size as when I started this pregnancy. I think the clasp is the same too. My nipples got bigger, more sensitive, and I think are peeling or discharging or something (sorry if TMI). I honestly wonder if they'll get bigger when I breastfeed.

GetN~Keep eating eggplant, hon. I would. I hope your baby comes soon!

Emily~Did you eat before your 1 hour GTT? I have heard if you eat only protein before (like hard boiled eggs), it can help. Good luck with the 3 hour!

Meg~Welcome back! I'm so sorry to hear about your pipes. What a thing to come back to!

Hi Ali and Rooney!

Hi Smiley Amy!

Dar~I'm going to sew my own bedding too. I thought I might cover an existing baby bumper if I can get it for cheap. The bed skirt should be easy. Sheets I will buy. Then curtains, and accent pillows, and a baby quilt, although I think I'll mainly use those little fleece crib blankets for her. I LOVE the bumblebee theme idea! If I wasn't doing western, I would do bumblebee.

Chels~You barely look preggo, much less 20 weeks! I bet you won't "pop" till about 28 weeks or so. The great thing about that is that you won't need to buy maternity clothes (which are generally pretty ugly) for awhile. Lucky! Limited Express has some cute knit tops, gathered on the side, that are on sale now and are pretty cute for maternity. They stretch a lot so they can fit over a belly! The sales girl was NOT pleased when she realized I was shopping for myself.

Dena~I'm glad you get to feel your wiggle worm! I think I will really miss not feeling someone moving about in there. The kicks aren't painful yet (although bladder-stomping not fun), so maybe I'll change my mind later. I hope your DH feels him/her soon!

Hi Tracy and Suzanne!

Hi Vixen!

Dierdre~I don't have a sleep number mattress, but how well I sleep correlates with how congested my nose is. If it's congested, I sleep REALLY bad!

Hi to anyone I missed.

later,
Kelley

Morning, ladies!! I woke up and FINALLY actually felt rested!! I have my doctor's appointment today at 3:45 (which is 7 hours from now), so maybe I will just start having some major contractions and won't even have to go in today!!! That would be nice!

Ames-Glad you had a night off when there was yucky weather!!

Madame-I'm probably going to be in the hospital on New Year's EVE!!

BlueEyedGirl-Yeah. My first was five weeks early, so we never got to that calling point. I let them break my water with my son right on his due date so I didn't have people freaking out cause he was a week "overdue!" That is the main reason I don't want them to break my water this time...as the contractions hurt MUCH worse when I let them break my water and I want to be able to do it natural with this one just like my other two!!

GoJackets-Thanks for the link. That was funny!!!

Hello to all who check in later!!

GoJackets~ That playground post is too funny! Thanks for sharing!

Kelley~ Well, they didn't tell me to fast before the 1-hour test, so I had already eaten breakfast (a chicken biscuit) & lunch (peanut butter & jelly sandwich.) (Well, at least the sandwich was on LC bread )

Slim~ The only experience I have with labor was being induced (they used pitocin & also broke my water) & yep, it was BAD. I'm hoping to avoid that this time around, since I've heard pitocin-induced labor is worse than "natural" labor.

So, I am totally to you guys who are making your own crib bedding & accessories! I can cross-stitch with the best of them (even some needlepoint), but no way can I do "real" sewing! I'm still looking around to see what we like for a nursery "theme"; I'd really like something more along neutral lines (yellows, greens, etc.) *just in case* this boy turns out to be a girl.

I don't think you do have to fast before, but I have just read on several boards that people tend to have better results if they do just eat protein before. Of course, GD can be dangerous, so if you're at risk at all, I guess it's better to be sure.

Good morning all.

Ames- I admire you for thinking about changing to a midwife so late in the game. I'd be terrified and probably too tired to deal with it! Good luck!

Slim- I hope that baby decides to make an appearance soon. Sorry the eggplant didn't work. Have you tried having sex? I hear that can help get things going sometimes.

Kelley- I know how you feel about staying up until midnight. The thought is just daunting to me. My parents always tell me I'm the oldest 21 year old they know b/c I always go to bed early.

Ali- Thanks for thinking of me. Everything is great. The spotting stopped right before dh came home and started back up the first few days he was home. I simply attributed that to the sex we were having but not supposed to be having. LOL I had a u/s at my dr. appt. on Tuesday and the baby was on target with measurements and heartrate, so I think that this pregnancy is going to pan out.

Hi to anyone I missed!

I spent the night with my parents last night. Its always good to go home. One of my sisters is much younger than me, so she likes it when I go and stay for a while. And her bed is so comfortable that I sleep like a baby. I know its got to be horrible for my back b/c it is so soft and you sink down in it, but at this point I just don't care.

I'm just hanging out and cleaning the house today. I've let the laundry get out of control. The cable guy is supposed to come and fix the cable today. I was scheduled for him to come b/t 1 and 5 on Monday and he showed up at 10. Naturally, I wasn't here, so they rescheduled me for today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Mandy

Madame,Chels,Smiley&Dar!! all of you look great! I can't wait to see how we all look the day of..lol I think when that day arrives I'll have my husband crop my face out as I'm sure it will not be a pretty sight

I went to the doctors on Monday and had my glucose test and everything came back wonderful ... I asked the nurse if I could have a "skip the scale" pass but she wasnt buying it and I swear the two lbs came from all the turkey over the holidays.. My husband swears this baby is going to be a butterball.
The time is flying by I can't believe that at my next doctors visit I'll be 30wks! My doctor said he is going to keep a close eye on me and will probably induce labor around 37wks because I have "large" babies..lol I never knew 9lb 8oz wasnt normal I guess you learn something new everyday!

Alli~~Glad to see you are doing good! you're going to have to post some pictures for us!!

Madame~~My breast havent grown any larger either! I'm starting to think it is a cruel joke! I was complaining about it the other day and my oldest son said "yeah mom but what about your butt!"... it seems like the "boob growth" has directed itself elsewhere!!! lol

Hi to everyone I missed

Mandy-My husband won't have sex. He is too uncomfortable with it at this point.

Well, my doctor's appointment is in about 40 min. and I have to tell you ladies that I am really thinking hard about letting them break my water. I too have Group B strep (had it with both previous pregnancies as well) and they were worried last time at my appointment that since I was already dialated to 4 that I wouldn't be able to get the antibiotics for fast enough. If I am dialated any further at this appointment and the baby is in the right position I will probably let them break my water. Atleast I will know if I am already dialated to almost 5 that it shouldn't take that long to get from 5 to 10. I will let everyone know what happens and what we decide when I get home from the doctor's. Talk to ya'll then!

Oh, BTW, you look GREAT Shelly!!

You look GREAT! Your boobs are still bigger than your belly, which mine haven't been for months, lol. I read about "weight gain during pregnancy", and how a certain percentage is amniotic fluid, increased blood volume, the baby of corse, but then 2-3 pounds for boob growth! I can't use that as my excuse , but I would love to add it to my overall tally. Tell your son he's grounded, I said so .

Mandy, that is great news about the heartrate and growth being on target. I agree, a very good sign! Stick, baby, stick!

GetNslim~Once you have group B strep, do you always have it? I get tested for it next check-up, in two weeks. Let us know if you let them break your water!

Hey ladies...here is what I decided. I am going in at 6:00 a.m. (unless I go into natural labor tonight) to get started on an I.V. with antibiotics and pitocin. Since I am already dialated to almost 5 they think it will go pretty fast and my water will probably break on its own. If not they are going to break it around 9 or 10. So, anyway, I'll probably check in before I leave in the morning. Talk to you all later!

Hi Ladies,

Glad to see everyone is doing well . I'm hanging in there but my boobs are driving me NUTS! They are already huge again . I started with a 36C and 12 weeks later I'm back to a 44DD. This happened with ds also and took me nearly 2 years to get back to normal. Every time I bend over I get a sharp pain in them also, I don't remember that with ds. Has this happened to anyone?

Mandy - I so happy to hear the baby is "sticking"

Shelley - I cannot believe you're so far along! You look great!

I'm actually thinking that all of the pictures I've seen of you beautiful preggos look much better than my belly shot when I'm not preggo .

Here's a couple of pictures of ds :

He loves helping out with the construction

This was his first experience with Tollhouse - I was told he was a neglected child because he was 2.5 before he had them

We're heading out for the weekend, I hope you all have a great New Year!

Alli
