I was kind of suprised when my doula told me they use those types as protocol. I figured they'd have those portable ones like they use in the doctor's office if you didn't want to be hooked up, but I guess those don't measure contractions. Oh well, I guess I'll live. I'll just have to stay at home as long as I can stand it so they can't do too much to me.

Hi Koshino! I hope you pop in here to see this. We preggo laidies tend to overlook other threads than our daily one, so I posted your question here to get more answers.

I personally don't have much advice for you as my morning sickness was too bad for me to stick to low carb. I'm doing better now, but I probably eat 100-200 carbs depending on the day and I don't count calories...although I did a while ago and they were 2200-2600 depending on the day. I say, just do the best you can and worry about the weight later....I have to admit that this advice is even hard for me to swallow since I worked so hard to get the weight off, but I'll get over it.

I just found out I am pregnant (4 weeks) and go next week for an ultrasound. I immediately started upping my carbs to make sure I am not in Ketosis but like you said, it is so hard to go from watching every carb to be worried about not getting enough!

My official due date is August 15th so I still have a looong way to go!

Right now I don`t have morning sickness so I am still able to controll what I eat a bit. I am trying to eat at least 65 carbs and my calories are around 1800 I think.

Anyway, looking forward to being a part of this group!

Koshino and congrats!! My usual advice is to eat healthy and not worry about the carbs. We know how to take them off once our healthy babies arrive

Well, I think I seriously overdid things yesterday. Hubby and I spent the morning doing laundry then got ready and finished baby/xmas shopping in the afternoon. After walking an hour in Wal-Mart and an hour in Toys 'R Us, I started having some intense Braxton Hicks. Add the baby kept pushing her feet into my ribs and the fact that my inner thighs were sore as heck....I was ready to come home! Slept very fitfully between the bed and the recliner so hopefully the rainy day today will make it comfy for me to nap.

On an upnote....XMas and baby stuff is done!! OH and FYI!!! If you like those fleece blankets, Wal-Mart (as much as I detest that store) has baby fleece blankets that are quite large on sale for $4.50. Hubby picked up two LOL. I actually was shocked at the amount of stuff I was able to get there for what I spent vs. Babies 'R Us.

I'm just thankful to be prepared finally. Hubby put together the Pack 'n Play/Bassinet last night so all that's left is the final load of baby things to be laundered and the hospital bag to pack. The countdown has begun

Good morning all!

I have a marathon day ahead of me... shopping and seeing the Christmas lights at Disney. I'm not looking forward to it, but my in-laws have their hearts set on it.

I worked 4 days of 10 hour shifts, so I could take the day off with my husband yesterday and do fun stuff. I was sooo tired that I slept most of the day. Guess I'll have to work my regular 8 from now on!

Everything is going well. I had an OB appointment on Thursday and everything is going well. I've only gained my 1 pound per week, so he seemed pleased. He even talked about what a good pregnancy I've had. He seemed really surprised....

The only down side is that I'm going to have to deliver at the hospital that I didn't want to go to. I had a bad first impression from when I had to go in for contractions. I've been talking to other women who have gone there and they've had nothing but glowing reviews, so I guess I just need to keep an open mind.

Wednesday night we went to a class that the first half was a pediatritian and the 2nd was a pediatric dentist. It was really interesting and I highly encourage all to take advantage of as many resources that you're hospital/doctor offer!

QUESTIONS: My in-laws want to buy me a glider... but I don't know what kind. I've sat in the ones at Babies-R-Us, but still can't decide. Does anyone have any reviews of gliders that they have???

Also- I'm at a loss as to what to put little Audrey in to sleep in at night.... DH doesn't want her in the bed, so the little co-sleepers that go in the middle of the bed are out. Is anyone using a pack and play??? Suggestions please!!!! Don't really want to buy a bassinet as the baby grows out of them so fast and they have no other use!

Michelle ~ Sorry you had a tough time shopping yesterday. That stinks...but at least you got it all done. I too hate Walmart - especially since I know how they treat their employees first hand...DH used to work nights there - but don't you hate it that their prices seem to be the best so you almost feel like you have to go!

Dierdre ~ You are getting close! I would love to use one of those cosleepers at least for a little while...but DH is such a heavy sleeper, I would be afraid he would roll or whack the baby in his sleep.

gilbabe75 ~ Yup, I am pregnant!! I missed seeing you around. Sorry you are feeling so icky. That is the worst.

I am feeling a little this morning. I have gotten a couple of really strong waves of nausea. I am hoping that is all they are - waves. I have a friend coming over to help me make 10 dozen cookies for a cookie contest I entered at work on Monday. I am making Stained Glass Cookies. Oooops...here is another wave.

Hi Ames~ That Chinese gender chart was wrong for me too. There are several others out there if you do a web search that have given me the right prediction. They all claim to be "authentic".

As a rule of thumb, I have heard not to go below 80g/carbs per day while pregnant. I'm not even counting carbs anymore (switched to watching calories and nutrients in general), but I probably get about 150-200 per day too.

Michelle~I just got that inner thight pain! Ugh! What is it? It's just on one side and feels like a pulled muscle.

Dierdre~How about a sidecar sleeper? I think Suzanne actually built one for her baby, but you can buy them at PB Kids too.

I went to the doctor yesterday; I have gained 5 pounds this past month! Must be all that vacation food. She puts my overall gain at 21 pounds so far, but my scale at home says more.
The nurse also gave me a pamphlet, "When Should I Go To The Hospital?" for labor. It says to consider going if this is your first baby and contractions have been 3-4 minutes apart for TWO HOURS! I always heard you should jump in the car as soon as they get to be 3-4 minutes apart. Is this wrong? I don't want to spend any extra time at the hospital than I have to, but I don't want to deliver in the car either.

Good morning everyone! I've been feeling good for the last couple days so maybe, just maybe, my morning sickness stage is officially over. I found out on Thursday that my possible child care provider is a no go. Back to the drawing board I go. At least I have 8 months to find one before school starts again in the fall (I know, I'm starting a bit early).

I'm attempting to clean my house today. I find I need to take many breaks which seems odd to me. I can only imagine what I'll be like in my 3rd trimester.

Diedre.....for my son we used the Pack 'n Play that had the full bassinet. For this one, we went with a Pack 'n Play with a 3/4 bassinet and removeable changing table. I had great experiences with it and my son. Was easy to get to, fit in my room, was able to use it after "bassinet" stage as a Pack 'n Play itself for traveling/friends homes. I'd highly recommend it...it's a great alternative!

I'm visiting my parents this weekend, so I probably won't be around much. We aren't telling them until Christmas, so it is torture to be around them. I keep saying things that could give it away! Luckilly, they don't get it.

Just thought I'd pop in for a few minutes since I've been MIA for a few days. All is going well. I'm going to work and home only. When at home I'm spending my time laid up in bed with my feet propped up. lol, here it is 5:44 p.m. on Saturday and other than getting up to go to the bathroom I've been in bed taking it easy all day and sleeping on and off.

We have the pack n play also. Bought it a year or two ago when I was watching my nephew for awhile. Loved it!

Glad everyone is doing ok.

Well, going to go climb back in bed.

A prenatal will be enough...you don't want to OD on vitamins, especially vitamin D and A. When my morning sickness was so bad I couldn't handle a regular prenatal so the doctor had me take children's Flinstone vitamins. Then, I found a prenatal at GNC that didn't have any dye or iron added, because I figured out both made me sick to my stomach worse. Once the morning sickness was gone I bought the one with iron, but it still doesn't have dye, or any other additives for that matter. You can ask your doctor to prescribe you one if you want. HTHs!

Koshino....a prenatal is fine. If you speak with your doctor upon your first visit, most will give you many samples to try (pills, chewables, different brands/different times of day/food to take with) for you to find one that works well for you. I went through a few before finding one that agreed easily with me. I preferred this method than finding an OTC one myself as it saved me money if several didn't agree with my system. She then just gave me a perscription for the one I liked.

Hey ladies, I'm still here. I actually have EVERYTHING done!! WOOHOO! Now we are just waiting on baby. I realize I am not due for another 2 weeks...but it feels SOOOOOOO good to have everything done! My friends say now baby will be overdue because I have everything done...if I wasn't ready the baby would come!!LOL

Way to go GetNSlim!!! Doesn't it feel great to be at that point?? Keeping fingers crossed the baby will NOT be overdue....I wouldn't want to wish that on anyone over a major holiday.

I'm headed out to the store myself. Have a few things like sloppy joe's, a meatloaf and chili I want to make and freeze for the first week home. So I need to get those done and in the freezer.

Hi everyone...

Phew...yesterday morning I had my first round of nausea - REAL BAD. Every other time - only a couple - I just felt icky. Yesterday, I really thought I was going to !! I had to go lay down and ask DH to make me some toast which helped a lot! Thank goodness...

So, this morning, I got up and had some toast right away. It's okay to take my prenatal with toast - right? I know it says not to eat anything...but then it says you can take it with a small pill if it makes your stomache upset.

I just got ALL my Christmas cards done - that is a relief. Now all I have to do is start shopping!

One other question...I know I it is okay...from all the books, but I am still worrying. Yesterday and today, I have had some really light brown spotting. Only when I wipe...I don't need to call my doctor, right? Only if it is red...right? Just is making me a little nervous.
