Congratulations to chells_hoff for the boy and Dar20 for the girl!

Just a warning about the girl though. I wouldn't go out and start buying pink stuff just yet. My husband was telling me a story tonight about his boss being a plane last week. He sat next to a woman with a baby. The baby was wearing pink so my husband's boss asked how old "she" was. The lady was a bit embarassed and told him that the baby was really a boy, but they told her at her ultrasound it was a girl. So she had all these pink clothes that I supposed she thought she shouldn't put to waste. If they see the penis and scrotum it is a pretty sure thing, but if you don't get a clear shot of the vulva area I wouldn't be too sure.

Well, my doula is coming over this morning for one of our private classes. I'm hoping that she can answer some questions about hospital births too. I just have this feeling that I would be better suited to have a midwife birth instead of a doctor birth, but I feel like with the Group B strep and how late in the game it is getting it is out of the question. After reading all this material the doula has suggested my eyes haved been opened to the phylosophy of OB/GYN's. It is making me kind of nervous and I will definately be asking questions at my next doctor's appointment about my fears.

I guess that's all for now. I'll check back later!

Morning Ladies!!

Re. the girl story LOL....that happens more than you'd think. When we had our first u/s and the tech. said "girl" I asked for a percentage of which she was sure. She only gave us a 70% so I didn't own the "girl" status yet. However, in subsequent u/s's you can clearly see her girl parts and everyone has said "oh yeah this is definitely a girl" with 100% certainty. So, I finally started realizing I really was having a girl.

On the flipside, I've also heard stories/known women who've been told they're having a boy and it came out a girl. Simple mistaken identity/placement of the umbilical cord.

Doing ok here....up way early today because of someone's feet in my ribs making sleeping extremely difficult. Desperately need to do laundry today but think I'll be waiting for hubby's help when he gets home to carry it. It just winds me to think about it. Other than that, need to prepare a few lists as we're going to finish sons XMas shopping this weekend and go out to pick up the last few things for the baby. Only 2 weeks from today!!

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Hi everyone!

Hi Ames, sometimes when I read too much, I think I freak myself out more! Good luck with the doula

Michelle, sorry your little one was poking you so much. In case I forget tomorrow, I wish you the best of luck with your birth! There should be a couple of new babies here by the time I get back from the states (Jan 9th)!

Chels and Dar, great that you could find out the sex! I can't wait for our next u/s in Jan.

Heather, it's good to know I'm not alone with the pelvic pain. I hope it doesn't get too bad for you. My doctor said it wasn't dangerous, but basically blew me off and told me to call my midwife. Well, I know she is not going to get back to me quickly, and I need a chiropractor anyhow. *rolls eyes* Here is a really great link: Pelvic Pain in Pregnancy

Hope everyone else has a great day! Today it's just packing for me.

Goodmorning everyone! I had a good day yesterday with no morning sickness. Maybe it's finally going away. I'm going to meet with a possible child care provider tonight. I hear she's good. I won't officially need her until next September but all the good ones get snatched up around here and I want to "claim" her.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning all.

Congrats to all that found out the sex yesterday!

Ames, good luck with your class this morning. I've thought about getting a doula for myself when the time comes. Dh probably won't be here for the birth, and Operation Special Delievery provides doulas at no cost to military families in which one half of the couple is deployed.

Sorry you can't sleep Desperate. I think I'd be annoyed beyond belief, LOL.

Martha, have fun packing. I always get excited about wherever I'm going when I start to pack. That means my trip is close.

Renae, glad the morning sickness is letting up. Hope it stays away!

Well, I had a huge scare last night. I worked on a paper from 1-4:30 straight, no getting up, no bathroom breaks. When I finally finished the paper and came home, naturally, I had to go to the bathroom. When I did, I was covered in blood. Naturally I panic. This is not the spotting I've been having for the last week, this is more remenant of a period. I call dh, who is of no help, then I call my docotor's office and get the number to call the doctor on call. He calls back and by this point I can't even talk I'm crying so hard (I think the crying was probably more hormonal than anything). I tell him what's going on, that I had a pap done the day before, blah blah blah. He thinks it is probably from having the pap smear done, but if it doesn't let up in 4 hours, go to the ER. Fortunately, it let up fairly soon after that, but I think the panic of seeing myself covered in blood when I shouldn't have been will stay with me forever. It was so scarey.

Now I'm back to spotting. I can't wait until I'm over the 12 week hump.

Hope everyone has a nice, calm, uneventful day! LOL

Mandy

Mandy, I know how difficult that is. I admire your courage handling it when your DH is so far away. You'll be in my prayers!

Well, my midwife just called me and wants me to go see a nutritionist and take a 2 hour glucose test in the morning. She said everything was fine when I saw her last week...So, now I finally get my eating back on track (2 days now) and I have to blow it with a sugar cocktail for breakfast. She's somehow got me all worried that I'm diabetic now! She did give me the name of a physical therapist, but they have a waiting list, so I won't get anything there until after the holidays. And, she wanted me to see the nutritionist before I leave on Monday morning. Hello! I had to leave a message...because, I kid you not, they only have "phone hours" (read will not pick up the phone outside these times) between 11:01 and 12:00! Unreal. Plus, I'm fairly certian the nutritionist will give me the low fat bs, as low carb is totally frowned upon here....sigh.

Hi All,

Mandy~ That is so scary, hon.

Dar~ A girl! Yay!

Martha~ That sucks about the glucose test, but I would do it anyway. I have heard that those ladies who do develop GD, eating sugar actually makes them feel better, where as those without it feel worse (read:sugar overload). Sounds like you're in the latter categorey. Don't worry. Have a safe trip and great holiday here in the States with your family! I though you were staying in Sweden over Christmas. Now aren't you glad you didn't spend hundreds on pine bough decorations?

Michelle~Something about your statement really brought home the fact that we have little PEOPLE inside us! Weird! I think I will miss getting kicked when baby is out (unless she kicks too much stronger, LOL). I did get kicked in the ribs for the first time and it was no picnic. I didn't even know my uterus was up that high yet.

Renae~Good luck with the childcare provider! Hope you get her.

Ames~ Can't you do a midwife birth and still have an IV for group B strep?

Well, my last flight back home is today (sniff). I love to travel, so it will be a little sad to be "grounded" for the next several months. Plus, California has the best shopping! I am trying to buy/eat all the stuff I will be missing. (Like In-N-Out burger). Pedicures here are cheap but really good, where we live you get the whole "spa" experience BUT get to pay about four times as much.

Later,

Kelley

Michelle~Are you doing fetal kick counts? I have heard to count ten movements over four hours, two hours, and one hour. So which is it? Ten movements over four hours is a much less active baby than ten movements in one hour. All I need is more worry! Eek! I will ask my doc when I see her tomorrow I guess...

My doc hasn't had me do this because this baby is ALWAYS active. I have maybe 3 periods of 30 minutes a day where she isn't moving, kicking or having the hicpus. That's half the reason I'm not sleeping well because she's literally waking me with her movement now that she's so big. In fact, I just woke from a nap because she has hicups right on my pelvic bone.

Speaking of sleep....I went and laid down in the recliner 4 hours ago because my back was bothering me and just woke up!! Guess I am more tired than I thought.

OK Ladies....just received this from a girlfriend and laughed so hard I had to share it!!!!

Quote:
Hi honey, this is Daddy......Is your Mommy near the phone??
"No Daddy. She's upstairs in the bedroom with Uncle
Frank.".......After a brief pause, Daddy says,

"But you haven't got an Uncle Frank, honey!"

"Oh, yes I do, and he's upstairs in the bedroom with Mommy right now."

"Uh, OK then."Daddy says,"...here's what I want you to
do. Put down the phone, run upstairs and knock on the
bedroom door and shout to Mommy and Uncle Frank that
Daddy's car just pulled up outside the house."

"OK Daddy."

A few minutes later, the little girl comes back to the phone.

"Well, I did what you said, Daddy.”
"And what happened?' he asks.
"Well Mommy got all scared, jumped out of the bed with no
clothes on and ran around screaming, then she tripped
over the rug and fell downstairs and she's not moving
anymore."
"Oh no... and what about Uncle Frank?"
"He jumped out the back window into the swimming pool. But
he must have forgotten that last week you took out all
the water to clean it, so he hit the bottom of the
swimming pool and he's not moving either."

Long pause.......

Then Daddy says,

Swimming pool??????

"Is this 597-7039?"

Ten kicks per hour is alot? I'm in trouble. She does that many every 20 minutes!

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing good.

I am doing okay. But I have to vent! I have the usual 3rd trimester aches and pains, with sciatica acting up, heartburn that drives me bonkers some days and the tiredness that only having another creature growing inside you can bring. But the latest and most annoying has to be the pregnancy itchies!

It started on the ball of my left foot and seems to have snowballed from there. I now have itchy bumps on my legs and forearms as well. Almost like tiny hives. I have been using hydrocortisone and benadryl cream to combat it, but it very much sucks. Pain I can deal with, itchiness is maddening!!!
It happened last time when I was pregnant, but I was hoping to somehow to miss it this time around, but I think a combo of winter dry air and not putting enough lotion on took its toll.
Now I am remembering to lotion up right out the shower and that is making it feel a little better but I know I am stuck with it for the duration.

Desp: I hope you get some good sleep. Take some benadryl before you go to bed, it work wonders. Recliners are are wonderful thing right now aren't they? I don't know where I'd be without mine.

Martha: Sorry about the glucose test. Those things really suck! As for the nutritionist, just smile, nod and then do low carb when no one is the wiser.

Mandy: to you. I hope everything is all right.

Hi to everyone else! Have a great day.

Hi, guys, just checking in after a busy day.

LOL on the story, Ames. I am a little hesitant to accept fully that it's a girl. We're planning on a 3D u/s in Jan/Feb, so we should know for sure then.

Mandy, to you. How frightening!

Martha, have a great trip!!!

vixendrop, good luck this weekend!! Best wishes to you and future hubby!

Not much going on here. Still trying to get a loan, and that has me so stressed. I keep hitting dead ends, but might have some help from some folks at my real estate management company (I own properties which they manage/find tenants/handle all payments.. and banks frown on that for some reason).
