Good morning ladies!
Oh my goodness Kimism! Praying that little ones stays in there as long as possible! Well, my day yesterday went ok. Dave went to my appointment with me, but the doula didn't make it. For some reason she thought I was at the office in Edina instead of Burnsville. Once she figured it out we were already gone. Oh well, I can't give her too hard of a time as she was up all night the night before attending a birth and she apologized profusely. She'll be coming to the next appointment which is in about 2 weeks! I can't believe I'm far enough along for that! The great news is that I only gained 3 pounds despite eating like a pig this last week. Now, if I just watch what I eat I shouldn't have to see that 200 pound mark....just two months left! My sweetie must be doing better though. He actually took the garbage out to the curb! Granted I put all the trash bags in there my self and it is on wheels...but still! He didn't take any pain medicine either and he is looking a lot more alert too. Well, I'm off to finish the last few casseroles and then I'll probably continue reading one of the books the doula recommended. I have to say I was a bit shocked when I got it and was flipping through it. Let's just say there are VERY graphic photos of women giving birth in there. I told my husband about it, and he's like "Why did ya get a porno book"? I guess I was expecting illustrations, not photos and was taken a little aback. Have a great day everyone! Ames |

Hi Ames, what was the book the doula recommended?
Kimisim - Definitely in our thoughts and prayers. There are so many wonderful things they can do to save these little babies......hang in there. I can't imagine what you must be feeling. I'm glad you got to see her. It sounds like she is doing great, just need to keep her in there a little longer! A friend of ours was admitted to the hospital at 28 weeks. She started leaking fluid. They are keeping her on bedrest at the hospital and going to try to get her to 32 weeks. Take care of yourself and rest, rest, rest. Keep us updated! karatejen - Murphy looks so cute in that announcement.....he looks like you. Those look great!!!

kimsim....
sent your way that you and the little one stay healthy for the weeks remaining. I know how scary it is and I know you'll follow doctor's recommendations for keeping that lil one safe for a little while longer. karatejen....absolutely ADORABLE!! He is sooo cute! Love the card idea. ames....glad hubby's feeling better and more alert. Hi GoJackets and all who come in later ![]() Well it's official....I've lost track of my days from being home too much LOL. This has been a very lazy week for me as I've felt more tired and a little more pelvic pressure. All I've wanted to do is lie around. We did get the room my son and the baby will be sharing done last night. It couldn't be more ready now that the closet is officially cleaned out. I have my appointment at city hall today with the EEOC to file an official complaint and investigation of discrimination with my workplace. I also go to pick up my son tonight as he's with us this weekend. I'm hoping to really have some good quality time with him (he's a video game junkie LOL) as this will probably be the last weekend I'm comfy enough to do anything. I'm debating on all of us going down to the water to see Santa and the lights with some homemade hot chocolate since it'll actually be cooler tonight (ok in the 50's but that's cool for us LOL). Hope everyone has a great day....I'll check in later. |

!!Hi everyone!
Kim, I'll keep you and your little one in our prayers I hope everything works out.Mandy, I'm glad your doctor didn't seem to worried about your spotting, I'm keeping you in my thoughts. Dena, I married a Swedish guy...and agreed to come live here for a couple of years to learn more about his culture. His parents are also rather elderly, and he wanted to spend more time with them before we "settle down" in the states. We're here until at least spring 2006, and that will depend on his finding a job in the US or getting transfered by his current firm. I have mixed feelings about his parents--I really don't get along with them, so I'm glad we don't see them often, but they don't seem to make any effort to see us, so that part of the deal seems a little weird to me...they do live 400 miles away, and they don't travel much...but then, they've gone to Spain for the winter. I probably wouldn't have agreed to move here if I had "seen" Sweden through the eyes of someone who was going to live here. Every time I visited before we moved was in the summer and vacation... Sorry for the novel Ames, I'm glad your DH seems to be feeling better. You are a cooking machine !! Michelle, I forget what day it is sometimes too! It's totally embarassing! Good luck at your meeting today! I just had a midwife appointment this morning. She checked my glucose, which was fine, and my hemoglobin, which was a little low/lower than last time, so now I get to take extra iron. She measured my uterus, and said I was a little above the mean line--I really don't know what that means. We heard the heartbeat, which was good @ 138 beats per minute. I asked her about a real glucose test, and she said they don't normally do them unless the uterus grows too fast. And then they give you the drink, but make you wait 2 hours, and then do the finger prick. Not sure how I feel about that... My husband asked her about my weight, which has gone down ten and then up fifteen, for a net gain of 5 pounds, and she told me "it would be good to not gain ANY more weight" Now how am I supposed to do that? She's actually made me feel badly about it, and I thought I was doing OK only gaining 5 pounds so far... A big hello to all to come! |

Martha - thanks for sharing your story. That is awesome that you and DH made such a huge decision as a couple. I'm sure your lives will be richer from the experience.....very cool and admirable!!!
I'm concerned about the whole weight thing too. I didn't want to put on more than 15 pounds.......well, I went 5 weeks with no gain, and then last month put on 5 pounds!!! Well, that leaves me 10 pounds for the next 5 months!!! Granted, we just got through Thanksgiving.....but I need to figure something out.....is it okay not to gain anymore weight. I think the 5 pounds Iput on was because I slacked off and ate like a pig.....but I need to get it in gear and see if I can save that 10 pounds for the end of the pregnancy. Now, if I blow it, I blow it.....I'm not going to lose sleep over it. But, I'd like to at least give it an effort! Speaking of sleep.....what is up with going to bed at 9:00pm and being up at 12:00 or 1:00 and not being able to go back to sleep? Ames, didn't you have problems sleeping in the second trimester? Thanks for the book title! Do we just have that much energy now? No wonder we are exhausted the third trimester.....not enough sleep from the second one and who can sleep with a little one poking you all of the time? Oh well! Hi Michelle!! Hope you and DS have a good weekend, but listen to your body if you need rest!! |

*yawn* I'm havin the opposite thing ya'll are havin now....I used to wake and be up most of night. Those would be the days that I'd actually get the most done. Now I'm actually sleeping good at night and drowsy/napping all day....grrrrrr. So much to do and no motivation to do it LOL.
As for weight....*shrugs* my doc told me on my very first visit "I'd be happy if you didn't gain one pound". WHAT?!?! How does someone not gain a pound during pregnancy?? But I'm happy to say I haven't even hit the 20 lbs. mark as of yet for total gained...so we'll accept that And yes I can admit....while making good decisions, I've also made some bad ones. The ironic part is, the bad stuff I thought I missed while LC'ing tastes awful I'm ready to get back to my LC'ing lifestyle in the new year.OK I'm off to shower and get ready....it's chilly out with a nice breeze and my house feels wonderful all opened up!! Just wish it'd stay this way. |

UUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
someone needs to seriously delete EBay from my brain!!! I swear I'm addicted to watching that site! LOL Just an FYI for those of you who might opt for formula....you can get some great deals on EBay. I'm not breastfeeding for personal reasons and have discussed formula options with my doc. Now granted, I dunno if this baby will be able to digest the formula I've chosen until she's born...but I have friends who are pregnant/due after me that can use it if not. So....I've gotten some great deals. 3 ready to feed bottles for $8 (that's WITH shipping) and I just got 48 2 oz. bottles of ready to feed WITH nipples for $20 (costs close to $100 on the formula site). Thought I'd just let ya'll know it's a great option if you want to have some on hand for cheap! Just watch the expiration dates on the listings. |

Morning, ladies!
Kimism, also keeping you in my thoughts. I went to one of those belly shots websites someone posted, and there was a woman on there who had her baby at 23 weeks, just over 1 pound, and she's now something like 8 months old! Absolutely amazing! Having a rough start to my day so far. My lower back was really aching yesterday afternoon, and then I started aching in my abdomen. I feel like this week I've grown a ton, and it's stressing out my body. Those of you that are farther along.. did you have "growth spurts"? My loving DH (tongue in cheek) says to me last night, "you look like you've exploded this week!" Thanks, hon, and that's just how I feel. Also, don't they make some type of support/girdle? I'd like one for when I run with my dogs or work around the house. That's when I seem to put most stress on myself. Any advice appreciated. You guys are killing me... I've gained about 20 pounds! Problem is that it's mostly in my hips and thighs! I gained 10 of it right away when I stopped Atkins. I feel huge. *sigh* Anyways, not a great start to a Friday, huh? |

![]() Lower back pain...if it continues, which mine has lately....I highly recommend using a little IcyHot on it while you sleep. I'm amazed how much this has helped me sleep at night and wake without my back/sciatic nerve bothering me. Yes, I went through "growth spurts". It seemed like all of a sudden I woke up looking much more pregnant then when I went to bed. Usually took 2-4 days for my body to ache and adjust. As for a support system....I saw some at Babies R Us. Maternity Support There's a few there, just do a search for "support". I hear ya on the weight gain once going off Atkins. I showed a 20 lbs. weight gain my 2nd pregnancy visit to my Ob/gyn...however, I have since lost a ton of that as pregnancy went on and my body adjusted to the carbs....so perhaps that'll happen for you too If not, as we said the other day, we know how to lose it!! hope your day gets better. |

Kimism~ for you and your babe. Take it easy and slow!Sarah and Jen~ Precious pics! Thanks for posting! Martha and Dena~The second tri is when the weight really started coming on fast for me, and seemed to have no correlation with what I ate (I track everything in Fitday still), although I wasn't throwing up any more, IMO it didn't warrant the 2-3 lb weekly gains I experienced. I think your body will gain what it will while PG, even if you really watch what you eat (okay, my unscientific opinion here). I guess it's good to have a "target" weight, but it's a bummer when you fast approach your set goal. For example: I have only three more pounds to gain over then next two months before I surpass my "goal". With Christmas coming, I know I'm gonna go over. I wish I hadn't set a target weight in my head. I think it's great that you're aware, but don't get too upset if you go over. Now if I could only take my own advice. Smiley~Glad your family took the news well! Yay! Michelle~ Step away from the Ebay! Dar~Ooh yeah, growth spurts seem to happen overnight! They usually follow a week or two of thinking not much is happening. If any preggo grads (or those farther along) check back in: 1) When did your third-tri heartburn/indigestion/nausea start up? Does it last to the end? 2)Insomnia? (Wish I was experiencing what Michelle is, but I'm up at 5 a.m.) 3) Any cramping or AF-type feelings happen to you during this time? 4) Extreme back soreness (mid back to lower)? I remember Sarah and Suzanne talking about this, but I was "not there yet" so didn't pay attention like I should have! I got a massage yesterday, which seemed to help my back problems a bit. Not only am I having sciatic pain, but my piriformis (sp?) muscle was SOOOOO sore! It is waaay down in your butt. He said it's from the pelvis moving and widening (greeeaaat...). I had to breathe through the pain, it was so intense. Later Gators! Kelley

1. Started about month 6 and hasn't let up since, at least that's my experience. Mine is far worse at night when lying down, but now it's a 24/7 occurence. Funny part is, at night the baby gets the hiccups every time I eat Tums. 2. My insomnia only recently stopped...I think because I now have confirmation as to when this baby will arrive. 3. Cramping?? All the time. My doc said it's completely normal as I didn't recall this much with my son. It's your uterus preparing/growing....plus as you get further on, you'll start having Braxton Hicks, some of which you may feel. 4. Back pain? Oh yeah!!! I feel very "unbalanced" now and my back is taking the toll. As I suggested to Dar, I've been using IcyHot (I smell so sexay using it) when I go to bed if it's sore and I feel better the next day. Hope this helps....in the end, we're all different but these seem to be recurring themes in most pregnancies. |

Hi Kelley, A massage sounds sooooo good! I have a gift certificate for one, but haven't found an appointment that fit my schedule. I think I'm going to have to schedule a special trip to town next week!
I just took a milk and honey bath, and feel awesome. (Add a liter or quart of whole milk to your hot bath water and a couple of tablespoons of honey. If you have almond extract, add some of that to, the smell is divine) Has anyone experienced this?: In order to not have so much round ligament pain at night when I'm turning over in bed, I've started using my leg muscles to flip over instead of my abdomen, I think. Now my inner thighs are really stiff--like after a tough work out. This has been going on for 3 or 4 weeks, and you think I'd get used to it, but it just sort of persists. Stretching doesn't seem to help, but walking does. Hope everyone has a great weekend if I don't get back. |

Thanks for the reassurance, Michelle. All these sypmtoms seem to have increased in intensity all at once, so I get worried. My DH can't believe how much I belch now. I never could before, even if I wanted to! So the AF type cramps are par for the course too? Yesterday, I SWORE I was getting AF, then remembered I'm PG. SO weird. Martha~ Be sure to tell the massage therapist you're PG, I think they do things differently or avoid certain parts (like ankles). Enjoy! MarriedinSept~ CHeck back in from time to time!Kelley |

*yawn* Man, you girls are chatty early this morning! It's 8:30 here.
Jen-That announcement is very cute, good idea to send w/ Xmas cards. DD never took good pictures when she was a newborn, so I just sent paper announcements w/o the pic. Well, I think my Mom is getting DH a digital camera for Xmas so I will be able to post some pictures. Michelle-don't get me started about Ebay. I have been looking for those 50's aluminum tumblers, with the bright colors for my Mom as one of her Xmas gifts. So I won 2 bid, (my first Ebay purchase btw) Bought them the same day, I got one set over a week ago but the other ones never showed up, the seller never responded to my emails, so I finally called her and she *says* she mailed them. I call Bull*****! So, anyway. I know I can get my money back b/c I used paypal, but the money is not the point. That's cool that your finding formula for cheap tho! I got about 8 cans in the mail for free with DD and they also kept sending tons of coupons. Martha-WTH? How are you supossed to not gain ANY more weight? In order to do that, you would actually have to continue to lose weight the rest of your pregnancy. Which to do that you would have to DIET. And dieting during pregnancy is a no-no that has been brainwashed into our heads! I don't think you can win either way, b/c if show a weight loss, (like Michelle the past few weeks) they freak out, you gain weight and they freak out too. I've been using my legs to turn over too, the only thing I can suggest to get your legs in shape is squats. Or the FIRM work out. I love the firm, I need to break the video out and start using them again. I think exercising would help to lift my spirits this winter, I''m kinda in a rut right now. MarriedinSept-Sorry AF showed up. Hopefully you'll have better luck this Spring.

Hi everyone...another BUSY day, so no personals.
Well, tonight we tell DH's mother. It is her birthday today so I think I am going to go buy a little rattle and put it in a birthday bag. Think that is okay?? So, I guess I should be glad that my mother is happy about me being pregnant, but now, just in the past 24 hours I have heard several times, over and over "Remember, you are NOT eating for two..." "You should begin watching your weight." ![]() I am terrified that I am going to get bigger than I already am. I weigh around 230 (afraid to step on the scale). I am pretty evenly proportioned. When people find out how much I weight they always reply with "NO WAY!" The thought always crosses my mind "Am I even going to look pregnant? Or will I just look fat?" And, I don't want to come out of this gaining a ton of weight. I am already fat enough! Okay, a TMI question - does having diarreah first thing in the morning have anything to do with being PG?? I have noticed, the past week or so, even before I knew, I have to go everymorning - sometimes twice! Well, got to go! Talk to you guys later!
