I have felt some things in there, but I have gas ALL OF THE TIME - so I'm writing it off as gas for a little longer.
You lucky dog!! Hopefully the baby will show its stuff so that you mom cant start making stuff. Do you have pics you can post from the most recent?? Oh gas, I feel like I am just a farting machine, and the smell I have made myself leave the room...ROFLMAO.

DH really wants to tell his parents, like now! I though it would be neat to wait until Christmas, but Friday is my MIL's birthday and he really wants to tell her then. So I agreed to tell my family. I am so, so scared. No, terrified!! I don't even know how to start the conversation! I am not telling them that it was planned - I am going to say "it just happened". I really am scared...

I think that you should tell them in a way that they have to be happy!! I know that they live far away so e-mail them a Birthday card that says "you are invited to a Birthday party around <<your due date>> exact time and date to be determined by baby <<your last name>> or if you can wait a few day mail them one and write on the envelope "call me before opening" keep the mood upbeat and happy, and if she says something negative pretend not to here her, and don’t acknowledge her comments. Hope it goes well let us know ASAP!!

Hello to everyone else!!

Dar asked about showers, while I cant fill you in on the etiquette I can tell you what I am doing. We are actually going to have three. One was in the planning before we even knew that we where PG. The PD that David works for is pretty small 25 street officers, 5 detectives and a handful of admins. So it is kinda like a family down there. We are extremely close with 3 couples, so those 3 friends are going to throw us a Luau Shower with all the people from work. This may come off sounding bad or selfish but the one cool thing about the people at David's work is that some of them are just very giving people while others are into the showing up everyone by getting the biggest or most expensive gift. So I know there will be a ton of "big ticket" items given to us at that shower and I would not be at all surprised if they didn’t wipe out the entire registry at Babies R Us. One of the ladies from the PD that I am not close to and already tried to "take over" the shower suggested that we have the shower at our house so that everyone could see the nursery. I just told her that I was did not want a deadline to finish it before the party. But I was really thinking hell it would be empty before the shower.... is that bad??My second shower is going to be our other friends that are not work related, and I am sure that my friends Stacy & Wendy will be handling that one, but there is nothing set yet. All my friends from the Elementary school have a tea the first Tues. of every month. And there was talk at the last one about having a shower tea in March or April but about 1/2 of my friends have jobs that they cant get off so I am not sure if they are just going to do both or what. The one that I was not sure of was my family up in Eureka (5 hrs away) so when I told my mom that I was PG I just mentioned to her that weekend that I was not sure if she wanted to come down for one of the ones down here or if she wanted to throw one up there with the friends and family in the area (I grew up there) She said that she wants to throw one as this is the first grandchild that she will actually be able to celebrate (my middle sister has 2 boys that where with different icky boyfriends) So I guess I feel that just straight up asking them what they want to do is best. That way both you and them are clear as to what is going on!! Oh and I will repost my sad little belly pic along with a new one that I took the same night but didn’t post it yet!! Don’t laugh at my lack of a PG belly...LOL!!

xoxo Chelsea

Good morning ladies.

Just trying to take it easy tonight. The casseroles are taking me longer than I thought and I think I might have overdone it last night. I'll have to try and finish them tomorrow night. My back got really sore and I'm retaining fluid terribly. My back is fine now, but I'm still full of fluid and I didn't even eat anything salty. I made some lemon tea and I plan on guzzling the water for the next several hours. I don't want more bad news about the weight gain at my OB appointment this morning.

My sweetie kind of took a turn for the worst today. He was able to take off his gauze, take a shower and put fresh ones on. Ever since then it has been bothering him more than before. He is also having trouble sleeping because of the drugs he's taking for the pain. He told me he's not sure he can come with me to my doctor's appointment if he's still feeling like that. I sure hope he gets feeling better soon.

There are a lot of good questions you can ask on the DONA.org site. I think I lucked out with picking mine. I sent out requests to four ladies. One was already booked for the month I'm due, one didn't reply back, and I wasn't impressed with the experience the third had. The one I picked seems like such a sweetie and she is an in-house doula at another hospital. Plus she's had a normal birth, a still-born midterm, and an emergency C-section. So she had plenty of experience both professionally and personally. I think we will make a good match.

Hi to everyone else!

Good Morning Ladies!!

*looks at clock* why on earth am I up still this early when I don't have to be?? LOL

Well, we made it to the party last night. Wasn't that big of a party, food was ok, entertainment a little ZZzzz.....but hubby's glad he went as he received an award for "most hours worked" as a consultant. Best part was he also got a $100 gift cheque with the award. Now I gotta say, being a man you'd think he'd do the "I earned it so I'm spending it" routine huh? Nope, he handed it right to me and told me to get what's left that we need for the baby. He's going to make a great dad

It was funny last night though. The company had hired 2 charicature artists to do everyone's pictures last night. I was like "oh Heck NO!!" I could just see them drawing me all cute with this HUGE belly LOL, nope don't think I need to hang that in the nursery.

Hope everyone's doing well....pregnancy wise I feel fine but still extremely tired. Hoping to finish the detail sanding on the rocking chair so we can get it refinished before this baby arrives.

OMG....3 weeks from today is the CSection!! I can't believe it's so soon!

Sounds precious!!!

Ames - hope hubby does better soon. I hope he can make it to your appointment. I told DH about all the wonderful things you are doing to get ready...trying to hint around to my own DH....he seems to think he is going to be doing all the cooking and told me not to worry about it.....heh..heh!!

Chelsea - My scanner isn't hooked up...I will have to see if I can find a way to post the u/s. I could actually find someone else's and you wouldn't know the difference.... It's the typical profile shot where you can see the outline of the face and the spine and that is about it. But maybe it will cooperate with the next one. My doctor said some babies who are breech really like the position and decide to stay there.....but I think that is later on in the pregancy.

Miss Gigl - I had a dream about you. It was funny. I was visiting you and you started having contractions (you were full term). You were very organized about it, you had a PDA and you were keeping track of times and stuff.....anyway, you were waiting for your DH to get home. I said I would leave you alone, and you said "no" for me to hang with you until he got home.....so I did. You were a champ!

*bows down to you*

You are making me soooooo hungry! I'd like a bite of each please!!

I seriously need to get on the ball and get cooking some stuff for the freezer for when we come home. I already have meatballs from my shower in there that we can pick at. I'm also going to make some homemade sloppy joe's that can be warmed up at wil with some buns/chips. I also want to make a big pot of chili to freeze in portions. I seriously need to figure out some other things....maybe some homemade potato soup as I already have a huge bowl of frozen homemade mashed taters in the freezer.

Good Morning Ladies!

Oh, God, it happened to ME! I peed when I sneezed yesterday! Like, a lo! Does this mean I'm not doing enough kegels? What's next, hemmhoroids? (Just kidding, Michelle )
I ate bad yesterday: 5 pieces of fudge. Oh, well, it's cold here, like zero degrees each morning!

Ames~I hope your DH rebounds.

Chels~Godd to hear from, ya, girl! You look great, and I love your photo-siggie thing! So cute! I'm sorry about your MIL problems. I just saw on the news last night that those of us in the West can log on and get a free credit report from the "big three", Experian, Equifax, and Transunion. We went to St. Lucia in the Caribbean.

Dar~What a cute pic you posted! Here is a link to second tri belly shots on Ovusoft: http://www.ovusoft.com/forum/tm.asp?...70&p=1&tmode=1
About the shower etiquette thing, technically, it is your friends and never family who can throw you showers. This has probably changed a lot in recent years, since just about everyone I know has their family do it, but it could also be why your family hasn't brought it up if they are "old school".

Martha~Did you meet with the doula?

Meg~I love your doggie picture! What a big boy!

Dena~Isn't that so cool to see the spine? I couldn't get over it on my U/S. Yay that you get another one soon, though!

Michelle~What a great hubby you have! You trained him right.

Smiley~Eat while it sounds good, hon, just in case you get struck with the sickies!

BBL for those I missed,
Kelley

I am a bit busy this morning, so I don't really have time for personals...sorry.

But, wanted to let you know that I definitly am pregnant...for some reason I got the urge to take another test yesterday. It was positive - surprise, surprise!

Also, I broke down and called my mother last night. DH wasn't home so I thought that might be better - more private.

You can all say "I told you so..." I didn't tell her that we specifically TTC, I just sort of left it open ended. She said in a surprised voice "Oh, well I guess I am going to be a granmother - for real." My stepbrother has a child and even though it is sort of her grandchild, it isn't the same. She was really good about it. I was hysterical telling her that I was afraid I had let them down by not waiting, blah, blah, blah. And she said, "If Dad and I had gone by your his schedule, we wouldn't have had you." I guess I was a surprise! But she said I was the best thing that ever happened to her and that I will feel the same... She actually said that she thought that maybe she would never have grandchildren - that me and Rob were so set on waiting until we were "financially ready" that she thought we just would never have one. I told her, as I am still crying, that I was nervous to call dad, so she offered to call him for me. Maybe I should have called him, but I was so scared to call him - not because I thought he would be angry, but because he is my dad, and I felt awkward. Well, about 20 minutes later my dad called, I started crying as soon as I picked up the phone and after I said hello he said "Hi mommy..." He basically said all the same stuff my mother did. He actually said he was elated. He said that he would help me and Rob any way that he could to help us prepare as a family.

So, I guess all went well...

I also got into work this morning and my mother had send me an e-card telling me that now I will understand how much she loves me because I will soon have a child to love. And to enjoy the life that is growing in me. It took all I had NOT to cry at work.

I guess I don't give my parents enough credit and I am feeling a bit guilty today for not giving them credit.

Now, we just have to tell DH's family. My brother comes over for dinner tonight - he is going to be so happy.

So, that is it...thanks for all your support guys.

BBL

I'm so glad it went well for you Amy. Sometimes those in our lives truly do surprise us....and it's now taught you that you also will surprise your child in ways that you don't expect.

Morning!

Thank you Ames for all the recipies!

Chelsea-Your collage in your siggy was so creative! Very cute.
Your belly shot however......makes me sick!

Amy-I'm glad your parents took it ok! What a relief for you.

Prgegnacy wise, I am doing fine. I have to take my glucose test at my next appt. My DD got to feel the baby move last night. My DH could care less I think. Maybe it freaks him out, I don't know....he was like that with our first. It's like it was a "chore" for him to put his hand on my belly to feel the first kick.

Ok guys, I am freaking out this morning. I have a new "kitten" We've had him for a month or so and he is 3 and 1/2 mo old. WELL, I caught him this morning tring to hump one of dd stuffed animals. I picked him up and checked his pee pee just to make sure. That is DISGUSTING! For those of you with pets...is this normal? My vet said they don't usually get them nuetered until 5 months. He said you can do it sooner, but her perfers to wait.

Can I be the first?! "I told you so!" Okay, okay.. not trying to give you a hard time. SOOOO glad it went well with the folks. Now you can rest easy and enjoy it! I think they thought you were set on waiting, they tried to make you 'feel better' about 'waiting'. Funny how folks are, huh?

Doing well here.. made beef barley soup with our leftover prime rib last night. Made a ton of it, actually! So, I have some in the freezer, too! I felt so Susy Homemaker..

Ok, after looking at those belly shots online, I'm starting to feel small and worried! How silly. I've just gained the weight in other areas.. like my hips!

Loving all those casseroles, Ames, but can't make any for my DH. He's on Atkins and it's hard to make an Atkins friendly casserole. They would be great for ME, though! LOL..

LOL, Heather.. yes, it's completely normal, even for female animals. Believe me. Even after they are fixed, they can continue to do it, but most will grow out of it. Both of my girl dogs used to hump things when they were little. It's just a dominance thing that they are trying to figure out in their adolescence.

And yes, it's best to wait to have them neutered. Less complications that way.

Amy - I'm so glad your parents too it well... don't feel guilty though, I think you were having a natural reaction to previous experiences with your parents (or at least that's what it sounds like to me)... I was TERRIFIED to tell my mom about this PG, even though it was my second... she was less than thrilled with my first because I wasn't in a serious relationship, I didn't have a job, etc... so I naturally thought she wouldn't be happy about this one either... even though I have (had) a good job, engaged to a wonderful loving man, etc... she was SO happy too! I guess that's one of the joys of being a parent... you get to drive your kids crazy by not reacting the way they expect!

heather....listen to Dar. It's perfectly normal.
My basset girl STILL humps my husbands leg if he sits still long enough. For the longest time she used to hump our boy cat but now that the kitty lives with my son, she's moved on to my hubby. It's so funny cuz he sits there going "you wanna piece of this??" and she looks at him like "uhhh no" and walks away. It truly is a dominance thing, she's never even attempted it on me. As long as she doesn't hump the baby, I'm fine LOL.
