CONGRATULATIONS Amy (Smiley)!!! I am SOOO happy for you, I had a feeling that it would "happen" while your mom was in town, how funny. Good luck with telling your family, I feel for you. My Dr said that to many PG women are blowing things out of proportion, going overboard with all of the "cant's" He said just remember moderation, sushi is ok as long as it is from a reputable restaurant and not 7-11. He said lunch meat is ok but if the pkg. date is expired throw it out. It made me feel better, oh he also said 2 cups of coffee was fine. There's more but I don’t want to go on and on!!

karatejen ~ A big CONGRATS to you to Murphy to adorable, you must be a VERY proud mama!!

Dena ~ We are also thinking about a vacation around the end of January depending on how much damage I do during Christmas. We are thinking about a cruise out of New Orleans with RCCL. Where have you thought of going??

Ames ~ Glad to hear that everything went well with the surgery. Have fun cooking your casseroles, I though of you the other night when I was flipping through the channels and ran across the "Food Save" infomercial....lol!! And that night I dreamed that we all chipped in and go you one as a shower gift, to weird!!

Michelle ~ Glad to hear that you have gotten into a grove so to speak, just from reading your posts you seem so much happier this week than the previous..... coincidence that you got to see our man Wed night!!?? I think not.... j/k

Not much new on the baby front around here... I still do not look PG, awww man!! Got a wonderful surprise today from my wonderful MIL, not. Can I say what a bee-otch !! When she moved in 2002 back to Texas she did not pay her last few months of her garbage bill and it went to collections... and it was in our name!! There goes my perfect credit repost, the worst is we are getting ready to re-fi. So add that to my horror story I posted a few months ago!! I broke down on Sunday and had a nice little cry fest, lol. The changed David from graves tues night to Friday night to day shift m to friday the week of the 13th. He is going to have a trainee, well the 13th is our big ultrasound where we should find out the sex. I felt bad because I made him feel bad and this is something he has not control over. He asked if I could change it, yeah right I made it over a month ago. I am all better now because we decided that we will just go get the 3D u/s the week before. Well I am off to bed, I am so bad at getting to bed at a decent hour, guess that will change after May!!

Morning Ladies!!

Well, 7:50am and I have 5 loads of laundry in the dryers....wooohooo!! So glad when it'll be done and folded. Slept well again last night but I'm noticing that now that I've slept well for 2 nights, I'm exhausted during the day. I'm definitely going to try to nap today as we now have to go to hubby's work XMas party. We weren't going to as it's at our local aquarium (ZZZzzz) and I believe it'll be mostly standing and my sciatic nerve has been bothering me lately. BUT...he got a call from his recruiter last night stating he's receiving some award so it'd be nice if he could make an appearnce. So off we went last night to find a pair of black shoes that would fit comfy enough that I could wear with a comfy black dress I have. Can you tell I'm excited...Not LOL.

Morning, ladies. I posted my pic last night, but it was late so I'll post again.



It was taken Thanksgiving day, 19 wks, 3 days. As I said last night.. my *dear* friend pointed out to me on Saturday.. my belly is now beyond my boobs. Hmpf.. this coming from a woman who is NOT lacking in that department! Thanks! LOL...

I'm doing well. Meeting went very well and I even had a note from my boss this am thanking me for my presentation and he told me I do well with public speaking. Me?! I hate public speaking! If only he knew how badly I shake with I have to get in front of a crowd!

We may finally have found a bank to give us our home equity line of credit! Yay! I'm being cautiously optimistic.. but I've been going round and round with one for a month, so I called another yesterday. In 1/2 an hour I had pre-approval and may close by 12/15!! Just in time. If this goes through, I may be able to rest easily at night for once.

Chels, I feel for you on the MIL front. At least mine never lived with us!

Michelle, good luck with those toes! Perhaps you should have DH help?

I got canned. Okay... Laid off. Steve never liked me anyway... He said they were looking to go in a different direction... To hire a Project Manager instead. What a crock. But oh well. I seriously doubt they'll fight unemployment and they even gave me severance... A WHOLE WEEK!


No neenernet at home. Never used it when I was working anyway. I would get home and take care of kiddoes and such. We need to get on. But first we'd need to get a phone set up too. Cable internet is too expensive. It's cheaper to do DSL and get a phone line.


I panicked at first, but I already have my stuff for unemployment, and I *SHOULD* get one more check.

Hopefully she's doing okay.

Chels, I feel you about the MILs. Mine isn't too bad, she is just super demanding and dh can't tell her no. She's made it well known that she doesn't want us to have kids for a while, so this will be a total shock to her when we tell her at Christmas.

I can't seem to keep my head out of the refridgerator. One of my pregnancy books calls first trimester hunger "I'm so hungry I could eat your face" syndrome, and that is what it feels like. I go from satisfied to starving in about 5 seconds flat. I'm trying to stick with stuff that isn't bad and also trying to break my meals up throughout the day and graze more so than eat 3 big meals.

I had a friend over today who just adopted a baby girl from China. What an experience she's been through with that! Tonight we're interviewing a doula...anyone have any advice for me? Hopefully we will hit it off, as there aren't too many here. Someone told me there was one American one, but she's due a week before me, so I'm not even going to bother asking her...

Martha - I have a friend who is in the adoption process - I think with a Guatamalen/American agency. It's a nightmare, but hopefully it will soon be worth it. She may even have her baby in the states a few months after my baby comes! Good luck with the doula!

Mandy - I was about 11 weeks pregnant when I sat in my car crying in the McDonald's drive-thru because it was going too slowly. Eat up, girl!

Dar - You are adorable! Don't worry, my belly sticks out further than my boobs and I am a 38D (prepregnancy). I think I am like a 40 G now (I got my pregnancy bras at a specialty shop and they were made for me, so I dont know the true size).

Desp - Try to enjoy the party! I hope you can be comfortable!!

Several of you have asked about my shower, and I guess I have been delinquent in the "details" department. It's weird because just like when I got married, I know its just the 1st of many showers (because of geography). But, I have a feeling it will become my "favorite shower" because my Mom and my Matron of Honor threw it for me. They went with a green and yellow theme because when they were planning, we didn't know the sex. Everything was super adorable. They decorated a rocking chair for me to sit in and I opened gifts for literally 2 hours. So, we didn't do any big games. My Mom held a kitchen timer and it went off about 10 times - when it went off - whoever's gift I was opening at that moment won a prize. Then, my Mom gave out these little diaper pins, everyone put one on. Then, we found out that they opened and one person had a "surprise" in their pin (yup, a tiny replica of poop) and she won a prize. It was really cute. I got a ton of clothes and $125 in Babies R Us gift cards. I also got the Baby Bjorn from my registry, along with the bath tub system, the boppy, both diaper bags (small and large), most of my nursery set, all the bottles I registered for, etc. My Mom gave me SOOOOO much stuff - and half of it was really FOR ME - that was the best part! I got flannel maternity pjs, 2 sets of nursing pjs and a matching robe for the hospital. I got bubble bath, etc. Lots of girly things! Our next shower will be with DH's side of the family (they live in Tulsa and Springfield, MO - my family is all in the Philly area) and that's on January 2nd!

So - there are some details for you all! :-)

Jenn, sounds like a way cool shower! How neat that you got stuff for YOU! I have a feeling that this Christmas will all be stuff for baby. Not that it's a totally bad thing, but I'd like some stuff, too!

Mandy, I remember one day (almost a couple months ago now) DH and I were out looking at cribs, and it got to be late in the day. I had brought an Atkins S'Mores bar in case I got hungry. Well, I got so upset because it tasted absolutely awful to me, I couldn't eat it and I was starving. DH thought I was going to have a breakdown, but he lovingly stopped at McD's for me to get some french fries. What a guy.. sometimes he's a keeper.

Question about shower "etiquette"... I live at least 1000 miles from the closest relatives, my in-laws. I'm not sure if I'll get a shower, but assuming I do, I don't know who will arrange it. I assume it would be here in Tampa since I'm saving my vacation days for maternity leave (and our families know this). The reason I want to know.. my matron of honor lives in MI, and she wants to go to the shower. Should I just tell my mother and MIL straight-out, "if you have a shower for me, remember to let Karen know ASAP"? Or should I be more discreet.. maybe have DH ask?

I'd like to think that, if someone was planning a shower, they'd let us know in advance so I can invite my local friends and seeing as how it'd probably be at my house! But, you never know..

Anyone else living far from family have any experience with this?

Well, I got home last night and crashed!! I went to bed at 7:30 and woke up at 7:00 this morning! I feel good this morning...not tired really. I think DH tried to touch my stomach yesterday...LOL. I was laying down in bed and he came to give me a hug and kiss and when he was pulling away, he kind of let his hand go across my stomach. It was so cute. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to embarass him. Well, I think I had my first wave of nausea this morning. I was in the shower and all of a sudden I got lightheaded and a little nauseous. I actually had to sit on the floor of the shower until it passed.

So, guys I am really scared. I am going to tell my parents tomorrow that I am pregnant. And, I believe you all know my story - basically they aren't going to be thrilled. DH really wants to tell his parents, like now! I though it would be neat to wait until Christmas, but Friday is my MIL's birthday and he really wants to tell her then. So I agreed to tell my family. I am so, so scared. No, terrified!! I don't even know how to start the conversation! I am not telling them that it was planned - I am going to say "it just happened". I really am scared...

On a lighter note, I accidentally kicked my dog down three steps this morning! He HATES going into the rain and would rather pee on the porch than go into the rain. Well, ususally when it is raining, I give him a nudge in the bum to get him to go down the stairs. Well, I guess my nudge scared him because he fell down the stairs!! When he landed an stood up, he just looked at me with these sad eyes. I felt so, so, so bad. He is fine though. I did look around to see if any neighbors saw though!

I don't think you really need to start eating more until the 2nd trimester, and that's only recommended to be an extra 300 calories. Yeah, right! Believe me, the hunger will set in. And you will have days you're not hungry. It comes and goes.. don't force yourself to eat too much, especially if you risk it making you nauseous. It will even out, as long as there's not something seriously wrong. I know with me, I wouldn't feel hungry, then all of the sudden I would be so hungry I felt sick.

Morning ladies, I am still here. I didn't really think I would go into labor last night anyway!! I am ACTUALLY glad nothing happened in the middle of the night, now I have some more time to finish up everything from yesterday that I started!! I have alot more energy today as well! Besides I have my DD bday party on Saturday that I have to be here for!

I think Jefinner didn't have the internet at home, she used it at work, so since she lost her job I think that might be the reason she hasn't logged on!

I had my follow-up visit with my doctor today about the u/s on Tuesday.

Everything looks great....but, good for me, they couldn't get a shot of the heart because of the position of the baby - so we get ANOTHER u/s in three weeks!!

Hopefully the little booger will have moved so we can get some good pictures.

I found out the the placenta attached to the front (I guess anterior ?) and she said that I probably won't feel the baby very much for a while. I guess the baby is behind about two or three inches and there are no nerve endings. The good thing is that I probably will get to sleep better than most since the kicks won't be as hard for a while.

I have felt some things in there, but I have gas ALL OF THE TIME - so I'm writing it off as gas for a little longer.

So, the baby is already being stubborn - looks like it is taking after its mother!

Good morning, or afternoon I should say! This morning has flown by. DD and I put up Christmas decorations today, along with the help from our kitten. He is SO hyper today! DD is down for her nap, after she wakes up we will go out to do a bit more shopping. I was going to shop for DH, but he came home from work with a brand new SHOT GUN He said I have to wrap it and not to buy him anything else....meaning it was more than we had budgeted for his gifts! On the bright side, he said he would spend just as much on gifts for me.

We are going to go see our friends new baby. She delivered on Sunday, 4 weeks early and the baby weighed 8lb 3oz! I think someone made a mistake with her due date!

JenP- I live in Springfield and DH family lives in Tulsa too! I will be in Kansas Jan 2 tho.

Well, we were going to go to Cancun, but it will have to be February now instead of January (DH's work schedule).....and we were afraid to book it and find out I needed to stay in bed or something...so we are going to wait until the end of January, and if everything is good.....we are going to NEW ORLEANS!

It just happens to be my favorite place.


My first trimester was pretty typical. I never threw up, but stayed nauseous and the only thing that helped me was eating. I didn't eat big meals because I felt sick so often...so I ate small meals.....usually orange juice or cereal in the morning....when I got to work I would eat eggs, I'd snack on wheat thins....eat a salad or sandwhich for lunch....drink milk....eat fruit or something....then at home I would eat a potato or more cereal.

Just kept munching. I couldn't handle my prenatal vitamins. So, I took those before I went to bed.

I was exhausted. I work a weird schedule. Sometimes I am home at 4 and sometimes at 7. When I was home at 4, I'd take a nap, then get up for an hour or two and go right back to bed. If I got home at 7, I'd only be up an hour before going to bed. I was getting about 10-11 hours of sleep a night.

My DH loved it because I didn't aggravate him about what he was doing. He likes to stay up late....I didn't care during the first trimester. I'd head to bed without looking back, and I couldn't tell you what time he would eventually come to bed.

The last couple of weeks, I started sleeping with more pillows and for some reason......my cat sleeps ON TOP of me. If I am on my side, he comes and sleeps on my side and the pillow. If I am on my back....he sleeps on my stomach....I don't know if he knows something is up.....or just likes all of the protection of the pillows laying around.

I've been napping on/off all day. I just have no energy these past 2 days uggghhhh...and I still haven't even attempted to reach my toes to paint them. LOL I think it's cuz I know it just won't be possible. Ah well, 8 months pregnant with unpainted toes at a party, sue me LOL

OK, I'm off to shower and get ready for this party. Hoping the hot water will help my sciatic nerve/back a little bit.
