Wow, busy thread yesterday!

CONGRATULATIONS SmileyAmy!!! How's it feel to be part of the pregnancy club? August 8th is my grandpa's birthday.

And congratulations to karatejen too! He is such a cutie.

Hi 5foot2yesofblue! Would you like to be added to our TTC list?

My husbands surgery went well. He's only had to take one pain pill so far and his biggest challenge has been to keep the cat off his lap! I guess he is just trying to comfort him or something.

I had a scary episode at the hospital while I was waiting for him. I had went to the cafeteria to eat some breakfast and then walked over to my OB/GYN office to ask if it was ok for my doula to come with me to my next appointment. When I got back to the waiting room I started reading a book. After reading for about 20 minutes I started getting really dizzy and nauscious and started sweating profusely. I headed for the bathroom and then realized someone was in there so I sat on the floor fanning myself. Another lady in the waiting room looked kind of scared, but she didn't say anything to me. After a few moments it passed and I felt ok....but really tired. So I layed down on one of the couches and actually fell asleep for a while! I felt a lot better after that cat nap though. I even went to Walmart and the grocery store after bringing my husband home. I guess if I would have passed out or something I would have been just a hallway from the emergency room, so that was the place to be!

This week I'm going to stay busy. I plan to put together a dozen casseroles for part of my payment to my doula and read the books she recommended. Along with taking care of my sweetie that will fill up the week quick.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Ames

Ames...I'm so glad your hubby's surgery went well and he's resting comfortably I assume. I'm sure you'll take good care of him and he'll be up and about in no time!

karatejen....absolutely ADORABLE pictures!! He looks so much like his mama!!

I actually slept well last night...YEAH!!! Only got up once to potty because I made a point not to drink anything after dinner. Also slept like a rock for the first time in a long time, with no anxiety. I think it's because I've finally come to terms with my financial and work situation.

After talking to my doc yesterday I realized I truly need to calm down and focus on enjoying these last few weeks of quiet because I won't have them again. I'm still wrapping my mind around the fact that this baby is scheduled to celebrate her birthday just 3 weeks from Thursday!! What a great Christmas present, we couldn't ask for more.

I do have to admit....it was kinda nice to be pregnant and not doing strict Atkins on our anniversary LOL. That wedding cake thawed and was soooooooooooooooooooo good!!!!

Good morning ladies.

Glad to hear your husband's surgery went well and he's doing ok, Ames.

I'm glad you were comfortable enough to sleep all last night, Desperate. I can't imagine what is will be like to get up and potty so much everynight. I'm already having to get up around 4 am and go, but that's just once and I can handle that.

I set up an appointment to have an ultrasound done on Friday; I'll be 6 weeks along. My aunt used to so ultrasounds for my GYN's (who is now my OB) office, but she left the clinic and set up shop just doing fun ultrasounds. She's told me that I could come in for free when I decided to have kids, so I'm headed her way this week! I know I probably won't be able to see much, but I think it will really put my mind at ease, especially if we can see a heartbeat.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Mandy

Mandy....good luck on the u/s!! Don't be surprised however if you don't see the heartbeat at only 6 weeks. Our u/s tech said it's not typically found that early...but you will see your little peanut/cashew!!! That is so cool your aunt will do this for you. With my first my g/f did u/s's at the local hospital and would sneak me in at night. Was a good thing since my son sat on his feet for 7 months so we couldn't tell the sex until then LOL.

Hi Gals!
I have been out of town for almost a week - so I have a lot of catching up to do!

I had my first baby shower on Saturday - we had to have it early because I'm from NJ and all of my family is there. After Christmas, I won't be flying back until after the baby comes! It was awesome! Then, the airline lost our baggage for about 36 hours - with about 80% of our gifts tucked inside (we have two large duffel bags on wheels stuffed with baby gifts). Thankfully, we got it all back - no harm done. It was so frustrating, though!

Congrats SMILEY!!!!!!!!!!!! We all knew it would only be a matter of time!

Alli - WOW! Are you in shock? What a fun surprise!!

Ames - I'm glad DH is doing well. Do you think you were just over-tired yesterday, or maybe had low blood sugar or something? How scary! I'm glad you're feeling better!

Hi Martha, Dar, Desp, Dena, Madame, Sarah, etc.! I still have to catch up on past personals...

I hope you all had a nice holiday!

JennPayton....congrats on the shower!! on the luggage. It never fails, if I travel something is lost! Train, plane, cab...it doesn't matter LOL. And always found after I've paid to replace it all. Glad you got yours all in once piece

5foot....lurk and post away. You don't have to be on the official list to be part of the group I have to say though, your name is stuck in my head!! Being a music therapist who works primarily with Alzheimer's clients, I know that song well BTW...where in Florida?? We have a few Florida moms here.

Ames, glad to hear the surgery went well and that you're okay, too!

Michelle, yay on the wedding cake still tasting good! Ours had a little freezer burn on the frosting, but the cake was soooo yummy.. even after a move across country!

Wow, Allison!!! How exciting!!!

5foot2, where in FL are you?

Doing fine here. Having a lunch meeting where I am giving a presentation, so a little nervous about that. Pregnancy wise, I'm okay, just my joints are still really achy from the weekend. And I seem to have chronic allergies.. like a cold is coming on but won't go away or fully develop. It's just.. there..

Anyways, good day to all!

Dar.....LOL @ on the move across country with your cake. And here I was worrying about mine making it across town!!

Sorry about your allergies. I'm starting to think it's a Florida thing though. My nose has been stuffed up and acting up lately. Perhaps it's the weather changes we're having (wish it'd just stay cool already!!).

Good luck on the presentation!! I'm sure you'll do fine...imagine 'em all naked

Ames ~ I feels good to be an official pregnant lady on the board. You guys were always so helpful while TTC though - I never felt left out. Glad you husband is doing good *shoo's the cat away*. Take care of yourself. That episode yesterday must have been a bit scary!

Michelle ~ Glad you were able to sleep well last night. Isn't it you that always tells me the "Breathe"?? You should take some of your own advice - since it is so good - and relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Glad your anniversary was good.

Mandy ~ Oh, I am so jealous of you. Getting an u/s whenever you want. In my head it almost doesn't seem real...maybe if I could see or feel something.

Allibaba ~ OMG!! That is great. How do you feel about it? I know I would be terrified at first. If I am asking TMI, just tell me, but was this natural or were there drugs invovled? That is just amazing - congratulations!!

Jenn ~ Sounds like you had quite a trip! LOL Glad all your luggage was found. Thanks for the congrats. I knew it would happen too - I just hated waiting. Now, how am I going to get through 9 months!! LOL

5foot2eyesofblue ~ Thanks for the congrats! Lurk all you want - the more the merrier!

Darlene ~ Good luck with your presentation! I am sure you will do great!

Meg ~ Thanks for the congrats. You have been a huge help with all my charting questions!! Thank you, thank you, thank you...

Jen ~ Murphy is SO cute!! Congratulations!!

So, I know I am probably not the only one who was nervous when they first found out they were PG. I find myself now worrying about "what if's" What if this doesn't stick, what if there is something wrong. When does this pass - if ever. I am so nervous that maybe the test was wrong (I'm sure it wasn't, but you know...). Basically, did anyone else worry as much as I am? I know I worry a lot - just my nature and I have to learn to calm down. But I guess I am just looking to see if anyone else felt the same.

I know, I know...Breath...

Hi to everyone else!!

Jen! Murphy is gorgeous, and looks just jike his mama! Congrats!

Ali! Twins! Congrats Congrats!

Ames~ I'm glad your hubby's surgery went well. Scary about your symptoms, but at least it passed quickly, whatever it was!

Desp~ On the due date! That is great if they can do a c-section and still have you home on Christmas. What a great Christmas present to have: a new baby! Will you name her Noelle?

JennP~I'm so glad the airline found your shower gifts. How did the shower go? What games did you play?

Dar~ Hi! Along with all the other gross stuff that happens to us while PG, we can also expect a build-up of snot. Is that what you are experiencing maybe? I have gone through several jumbo packs of Costco Kleenex so far. Sometimes I feel like I'm getting a cold but it just never materializes, just the snot (sorry TMI).

5foot2~Lurk away!

Dena~I think planning a vacation for just you and DH is a great idea, we really enjoyed our time alone on ours.

Martha~Our vacation was great! We had our own villa with a plunge pool. Our luggage was a day late, so this was great to be able to swim naked since my suit was packed in said missing luggage. I was most worried about not having all my shoes, LOL, which I didn't end up weraring for the most part (but had to have for every occasion). I was surprised at how romantic it was...DH and I were together the whole time, holding hands on the beach, etc. My tummy felt huge, especially on the beach in a swimsuit, but I got over it, and everyone was really supportive and encouraging so I wasn't too self-conscious. Several couples had youg kids, and told us how great it is to be parents and still easy to travel with them. We really needed to hear that. Plus, all their kids were so well behaved! Hope we get one of those, LOL. There were banana plantations everywhere, so I ate bananas and lots of lobster! Plus, anything with coconut in it. We went snorkeling, and I overdid it I think, because I felt like I had major round ligament pain afterwards. The only downside was I had to pee..a lot! I promise I will get my pics up soon.

I am thrilled at all the geat news we've had on these boards this week!
I have had heartburn really bad, almost couldn't sleep last night. It makes me feel hungry at the same time. Ugh! Two more months of this!

Kelley

When? Never! Amy, we will be worrying the rest of our lives!!!!

I'm not too nervous about the presentation, I don't have to get up in front of anyone or anything like that.. except that I just found out that several of my staff members are in another meeting, so our meeting (including lunch) has been smooshed into 1 1/2 hours. Communication! So simple, yet so vital and forgotten!! Argh.. oh, well. I guess I can't stress about leaving out a point or two.. no one will notice! LOL...

I'm not sure, becuase it seems like I'm experiencing more of a chest cold. I get these horrible coughs that rack my whole body and make my stomach and chest hurt. Those dry coughs, you know? The ones that make you feel nauseous. Plus a sniffly nose, but that's not too terrible.

OMG Kelley....has my mother been talking to you?!?!?! She has pushed for Noel ever since she found out it was a girl due around XMas (especially since my hubby's name is Knowles - as in Beyonce Knowles). Last night she even mentioned Holly *shakes head*. I thought I had her over those names LOL.

This little one will be named Elana Marie. We've had that name for months and fall in love with it more and more each day.

SmileyAmy....I know I know...it's the therapist in me LOL. Easier to give advice than to take it. BUT, I am breathing much easier today and enjoying the quiet time to get things done....because I won't be getting any anytime soon! And no, you aren't ever going to stop worrying...from time of conception until the time you die. Trick is finding the balance of reasonable worry and enjoyment of the moment. Some worry is good as it prepares you for life's events.....just don't let it get in the way of enjoying it (ok off to take my own advice LOL)

Oops, missed Mand and Smiley...

Mandy~ Good luck at the U/S. 6 weeks is early, but I bet you'll at least see the sac and fetal pole. I'm not quite sure when you can actually see the HB, so don't get upset if they don't see it at first. It sounds like you can go back for more! How lucky!

Smiley~I'm still so happy for you. You will worry about everything from here on out; you're a mommy now! But it is nice to NOT have to worry anymore about temping, CM, ovulation, BDing at the right time, charting...blah, blah.

WOW, so much has happened since I've been gone!!! Congratulations, KarateJen (adorable pics), SmileyAmy (so happy for you), Mandy, and Ali (I've always wanted twins)!! Welcome any newbies to the board! Everything is going fine with me...I've had contractions the last couple of days, but nothing really consistent. I am hoping to get some last minue things done today...for Christmas and the baby. I always have busy days planned out, but about half of what I want to get done gets done!!! Now I feel like I don't have a choice, it has to be done and I'm gonna get it done TODAY! My daughters birthday is on Friday, so I'm trying to get everything for that done too! AH, it seems like I need two of me! I don't really have time for more personals, so I hope everyone else is doing okay!! Is Christmas only 25 days away??????

I had a question this morning that I forgot to ask. How are you ladies eating? Is it Atkins maintainence or counting calories or just watching what you eat? I refuse to take this as a license to eat whatever I want and I don't want to gain more than the recommended amount of weight.

Just popping in to say hi!

Smiley Amy - Congrats!!!!

KarateJen - Congratulations and Murphy! He is adorable!! Can't wait to hear your birth story.

Alli - Wow twins!! How exciting and scary all at the same time.

Everything is going well here. We took Josh to the dr last Wed for his first checkup and he had gained 2 oz over birth weight and grown a 1/2 inch. I went and got him some preemie/newborn size outfits so he wouldn't be swimming in his clothes. He is eating and sleeping well for the most part. He has had some fussiness due to gas but it hasn't been too bad. Big brother is adjusting well. Josh goes back for his 2 week checkup on Thursday.

I am going back to work a week and a half earlier than I had planned. I found out that I can't use my leave accruals for December or get paid for Christmas since I haven't worked in December and that by going into unpaid leave status I would hit the supplemental payroll and get my check late. Having a short paycheck and getting paid a week late would just be too much of a financial strain so I am going to work the 22nd, be off the 23rd & 24th and then back to work on the 27th. I was going to take off until the 3rd.

Mandy....I started simply on Atkins maintenance. However, as many ladies here that I've read in the past stated, carbs tended to be all that would stay in my stomach. I've been really lucky as the major cravings I've had are for fruits/fruity things. So while yes, I've eated what I wanted in a healthful view, I have also eaten things that wouldn't be on Atkins maintenance persay.

I started this pregnancy with strict orders from my doc to do what I could without going into ketosis and she would have been happy if I hadn't gained a pound due to my weight. However, I have gained a total of 18 lbs. this pregnancy which is unreal to me seeing my first I gained 62.

Bottom line for me is....I lost 34 lbs. before pregnant and enjoyed every day on Atkins. So I know how to lose weight once I have delivered and look forward to returning to it.

Ames- lgad your hubbys surgery went well. Sounds like that was a scary episode you went through.

I had my u/s yesterday, accfording to the tech everything looked healthy and normal....what a relief! We are having a BOY. I've had two dreams I delivered a girl so far, so I no longer believe in preminitions! The tech said she was 99% sure. DH was very happy.
