Good morning ladies!
Hi Surfdol, if you are lurking. Hugs to both DesperateInFL and Mrs. Sarah. Not much to report today. My sweetie must have been itchin' for some nooky yesterday. Didn't work out too well though, because neither of us are comfortable on our backs, but I'm glad that he tried! I'll just be happy when he gets this hernia surgery out of the way and he is back to normal. Everyone have a great day! Ames |

Morning everyone!
We woke up to a winter wonderland this morning! Everything is covered with about 3 inches of heavy, sticky snow. It's quite beautiful, but hubby won't let me drive--because of our bald tires. So, now I'm snowbound with an empty fridge! Not good for a pregnant woman So, I mentioned I was trying to get off the bad carbs, and I've done well for 2 days now, but I'm suddenly in ketosis. I certianly don't feel like I've been starving myself, or eating unsensibly, so I guess it's OK? Not sure what will happen today though, will have to eat what's in the pantry...maybe some tuna salad. Allright, back to cleaning and household projects. Hope everyone has a great day! |

Hi, kids, sorry I missed yesterday.. was out of the office. Had a very busy day touring a few of our jobs in Orlando, and it was tiring. Then went to agility class when I got home so I was exhausted last night! Unfortunately, didn't get a very good night's sleep. Bummer.
Michelle, I'm so sorry to hear that things seem to be getting worse instead of better! Martha, any way you can take some pics of that pretty snow and post them? To me, it's cold here... 50 at night. It gets up to 80 during the day, though. Fall! LOL...Sarah, glad to hear Tanner is improving!!! Not much else going on for me... we have our Thanksgiving luncheon tomorrow, so I'll be busy cooking tonight. Work is pretty slow otherwise! |

Oh, I did remember one more thing. I bought these long sleeve, stretchy shirts from Motherhood. I washed them once after wearing, and did not dry them. I tend to hang dry new things the first few times to keep them from shrinking. They SHRANK anyways! Who the heck in their right mind makes a maternity shirt that's going to shrink?!?!?! ARGH....

Hi everyone - So I O'd - finally. Maybe the BC has worn off and my regular cycles are longer than I thought. My cycles as far back as I could remember have been 28-29 days but last month my cycle ws 35 and this one seems that it will be around the same.
So, I am now in the 2WW!! I used the Instead Cups and have heard a lot of good things about them - so cross your fingers!?!?Also, I am so excited for tonight - my mom is down from Canada visiting for Thanksgiving. Well, me, my mom, my brother and my father are all meeting for dinner tonight. As a family!! I am so glad my parents get a long even though they are divorced. It should be nice - like old times. ![]() Ames ~ Sorry your nookie didn't work out. Did you get a little at least?? Martha ~ I love snow!! It snowed her in MA for the first time on Friday. I was in heaven!! Sorry there is no food in the house. I hope you survive. ![]() Darlene ~ Don't you hate when you spend your hard earned money on something that is supposed to be good quality and it turns out it isn't. Makes me mad... Maybe you should call Motherhood...??Hi to everyone else... *hoping to hear from Sarah today* Well, it's a busy day today...

Morning Ladies!!
Well I think I've found the upside to being forced out of work...my house is slowly becoming the cleanest house on earth!! I can't stand to be cooped up all day so cleaning/organizing seems to keep that at bay. I just finished sanding the edges and small areas on the rocker we're trying to refinish. Can't do much more until hubby uses the power sander on the areas left. Organized kids' room yesterday and after I take my FMLA papers to my docs office, I'm going to wash all the baby clothes/things so I can start putting them away. Pregnancy wise I'm doing fine. Finally feeling a little less stressed since I have many options that are in action re. my work/administrator. Hoping some of them pan out or that my work settles "out of court" so I have a nice nestegg to fall on instead of stressing over money as we are now. Only thing I really need to work on is eating more smaller meals more often. ames....glad ya had some fun Marthad.....I seriously miss snow. Although it's nice to sit in the sun and be "cool" with shorts on while I work outside, or sleep with the windows open. Dar.....I hope you get a good nights sleep tonight!! How long into your pregnancy do you hope to do the agility training? SmileyAmy....enjoy your family time! My son often tells me and my ex how happy he is that we get along. I was raised in a very hateful divorced parent situation and vowed I wouldn't be that way. It really does make a difference, even in adulthood...enjoy it. Hi to everyone else...will try to pop in later ![]() Last edited by BrattyChelle : 11-18-2004 at 07:27 AM. |

Some folks train up until the end. I hope to get through January.. there's a trial I want to sign up for at the end of Jan. that would be great for my pup. Depending on how things are, that would probably be my last until the fall. Trial season down here runs through the cooler months. Alot of people (with less experienced dogs) wait a long time before coming back, too.. but my little one is getting too good.. she'll give me good motivation to get back as soon as I can. And the state competition is July 4th weekend.. think I could do it?! ![]() |

Hi all... thanks for the re-invite Ames!
Just an update on myself for those I have not met and/or those who don't remember me... ![]() Found out I was pregnant in May, told my boss and was layed off the next week... Sweethearts (insert sarcasm here).... have had alot of trouble with the pregnancy with sickness, some unexpected test results, back & pain hip (most likely due to my extra weight) and so on but as I near the end of the term (3 - 5 more weeks) things are feeling better. I have not been able to stay as true to my South Beach Maint. diet as I had wanted (this baby is a carb baby, lol) but I have only gained 18 pounds so I think I am doing pretty good and the doc is happy with that. I also did not need to buy maternity clothes because my old clothes from my previous weight loss (pre-pregnancy) work great, they are quite big enough around the belly and give me lots of room! Who thought I would ever find a bonus to being very heavy! LOL I find out next week, if I will need a C-section or if they'll let me try & have it naturally. My first child (DD who is 10) was a C because I had alot of trouble while in labor for her so we are crossing our fingers that this one goes much easier! The baby moves around alot so the last time we checked it was still breech, if it still is next week they'll try to turn it, if they can't they'll schedule a C for 2 weeks after that, if they can I get to wait the full 5 weeks.... Oh goodie! ![]() Well I have some reading/catching up to do but thanks again for the welcome back Ames and take care all!

back surfdol!!We have a few things in common. I too have been on forced leave of absence by my employer due to pregnancy discrimination. Curious if you had grounds for a suit or filed with advocacy groups? That's what I'm in the midst of now that I'm home. I have a son who is 8, and this lil one will be coming via csection around Christmas. My son also was a csection, but we had far too many complications to consider a vaginal birth this time around. Enjoy the carbs while you can At least we all know how to get rid of them this time around!! I started this pregnancy slightly heavier than you (306) and have only gained 12 pounds so far. My doc has a theory that babies of heavier women tend to eat the fat of the mom versus the food...I dunno, I'll take it either way!!Hope your hips/back don't give you too much pain, it's almost over ![]() |

TY
LOL... I am sure the baby is not starving by any means and my doc said the same thing... the baby gets nutrients from the mom so as long as I am eating good and taking my vitamins it will be fine... I am just stunned because with my first I gained 75 pounds but I was able to eat more than I can with this one... I just have no room... the baby is so high that I can take a few bites or eat maybe half of my dinner and then I am stuffed for hours (one reason I haven't gained very much).... Most of my carbs have come in noodle or potatoe form (trying to keep it whole wheat or organic) because they are very bland and not hard on the tummy... I have slowly been able to add more & more veggies but the meat is still kind of a Yucky Item for me, lol....About the lay off... evidently my company was already in the lay off process and trying to decide who to lay off and I just happened to pick that time to tell my boss that I was pregnant and due around Christmas (our busiest time)... it just made her decision easier. I have checked into it and I really don't have a case because I can't "prove" that was why I was layed off, especially when they were already laying people off. I basically got nailed and can't do a thing about it BUT that's ok because I am applying for some grants & loans next week to go back to school. I plan on going to school for Respiratory Therapy (my DD has Asthma and my grandma died from COPD) so I feel I already have a good understanding of that field. I see this as an opportunity to spend more time with the baby and to just better myself. |

Good mornings, ladies. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday. Everything is fine. They checked to see if I had any vaginal bacteria (sorry if TMI) yesterday, because they think that is why I might have went into labor early with my DD (5 weeks early). So, they found a little bit and gave me a perscription that I have to take 1 time at night for 3 days. I'm not quite ready for him to be here, so I'm praying it works!! Atleast 2 more weeks!
Ames-It does feel good to know you're still "wanted"!! Dar-Try to catch up on sleep if you can. I too would continue as long as possible, you're so right about the exercise!! DIF-Praying things start to look up for you...! Atleast you have a clean house now!! Marthad-I'm not sure if Ketosis is good for pregnancy...I would try to up some of your fruits or veggies (when you can get out of the house!)! Surfdol-Welcome back!! We are due 2 days apart...!! I'm hoping I have this baby early though!! I think we are going to go up the mountain for our Christmas tree after I am 37 weeks to see if the change in elevation does anything!! Hello to anyone else that comes in!! Still praying for you all, Sarah!! |

I'm sorry things aren't getting any easier for you Michelle, what pigs. And how unprofessional of your doctor, that would make me very upset, I'd kinda feel vialated in some ways. Maybe in some way God has a reason for you not to work right now.
Welcome back Surfdol, I'm glad things are getting easier for you towards the end Ames- Glad he was up for at least tring, is his surgery at the end of this month? I can not believe Thanksgiving is only a week away!!!! I've already gained 5 pounds in this last month due to my appitite coming back, then I have 3 thanksgiving dinners to go to, one Thursday, Friday and Saturday. THEN I get to weigh at my doc appt on Monday the 29th, I just know I'm going to get lectured about the gain, and it will be in front of DH...how embarrasssing. *sigh* I know some of the weight is just water retention, my socks are so tight. How many of you still drink a cup of coffee a day? I think you can have 2 cups a day and not be over 200mg of caffieine. I had just put my coffee maker under the counter when I found out I was preg. just so I wouldn't be tempted, but I think it might help with my water retention.

Sarah ~ So happy to hear that Tanner is improving everyday, keeping my fingers crossed for you tat he gets off the ventilator ASAP!! You should be excited finally getting to do mommy stuff for your little boy, I am so happy that all the news has been good... will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!
Ames ~ Hope that the "fog" lifts soon!! I SO feel you on the wacky sleep patterns. Sorry to hear about you relationship with your mom, it must be hard. Count yourself blessed that you have such a great hubby & wonderful MIL!! Michelle ~ Sorry to hear that your work is being such jerks about it, I am SO glad that you are in contact with a lawyer. My ex-employer was trying to force me to quit, when I didn’t they fired me (no good reason) knowing that I already had a lawyer, lol. Wish you where in CA I had a great lawyer. I don’t see how they can make you leave without pay??!!All they did was help my case. Oh and my advise would be FAX away, what do you have to loose!!!! Dena ~ That outfit is TOO cute!! Are you feeling as un-pregnant as I am??! Martha ~ Take advantage of your energy burst while its here, sill waiting for mine to kick in!! How pretty I LOVE the snow and we take quite a few trips to Tahoe every year, but all the snow and cold gets old after a few days...lol Miss Gigl ~ Glad you had a good Appt. don’t worry to much about the BP that’s what mine is usually. But a few moths ago they put me on beta blockers for my migraines and gave me to big of a dose, I knew something was wrong when they took my BP 6 times and asked me how I got to the office (I drove)... it was 52/36. ChristinaK ~ Congrats on the progress!! Your almost there Woooo Hoooo !!! Cant wait to read you birth story. Dar ~ Sorry to hear that you have been feeling icky, hope that you are not coming down with anything. If your insurance company will cover all u/s why wont your Dr. just give you one?? If you do the AFP then they do an ultrasound when they draw your blood. Not sure how you feel or if you want to do that test. Have you looked into the 3D ones they run $100-$300 depending on the pkg. you choose. Amy (Smiley) ~ good luck with your baby making while your mom is there!! LOL, you crack me up....LOL JennP ~ I was going to ask where you where, but I was glad to see your post. So what's been going on??!! Lizzy ~ As always you are a wealth of information!! Glad to here Henry is doing good!! Shelly ~ I feel you on the weird weight gain, the only place I have grown is my boobs, think I should have asked then to do my u/s up top!! Kelley ~ Hope that you are relaxing on some wonderful tropical beach somewhere!! Hello to MrsIndpndent, heather123, Viki, Stacy, little bear, Suzanne, vixendrop, Alli, Meg, Dierdre, Vanessa, Shandril, Kristee, Kim & GetNSlim. Where the heck is Jenfinner?? Hope that all is ok.... she hasn’t posted here for a week. Oh and karatejen she has not posted since this weekend, maybe she is having her baby??!! Well as hard as the morning noon and night sickness hit me on October 3rd, it packed its bags to leave this weekend (hopefully for good) I have not got sick or felt nauseous since Friday. Did have a migraine on Sat and Sunday but only a little headache on Monday and Tuesday, and nothing on Wed !! So I hope that this means that my hormones have leveled out, now the funny thing is that I have nothing that is making me feel PG. I have not gained any weight and other than a "period pooch" my tummy looks the same. I am wearing all my clothes comfortably, that is unless i have a big meal like last night when i happily skipped around the house declaring that i actually looked PG. This was soon crushed when my friend who is not PG lifted up her shirt to say hey me too... awww man!!!! Now i don't feel PG what-so-ever and have been thinking about how to get Kaiser to give me an u/s...LOL. On the same note I had a bit of a freak out last night. I was figuring out what to wear to the police departments Christmas party, where I just found out that David is in the top 3 for officer of the year. Well besides a few of my dresses not fitting in the chest I was good to go with a few choices. Then the horror came over me, lol... what if by Dec. 3rd I pop, or even gain just a few inches. You know that awkward phase where you don’t really look PG yet just big...lol. So I tried on the dressy top I got at motherhood and it looked absolutely ridiculous. So know I am panicked that in the next few weeks I will get big enough not to fit into what I have, but to small for maternity. Have no idea what I am going to do as we really don’t have the money to buy me a formal/semi formal outfit a couple sizes bigger that what I wear... and what a waste that would be anyway. Well now that I have rambled on about my silly little problem I feel so small thinking about those of you with real problems.... thanks for listening to my silliness!! xoxo Chelsea *Pregnant with Our First* Hoping for a girl, Happy with Healthy!! Hi again,
Chels, I'm so happy you're feeling better! I know what you mean about the clothing--I'm at the "if I can't do it in sweat pants, I'm not doing it!" stage! Dar, AFP is Alpha Fetal Protein, it's a blood test they do for birth defects and downs, I believe. I'm planning to skip it, since my u/s screening came back with low probability. I was going to take pictures this morning, but the camera had dead batteries, and I got sidetracked...I'll try again tomorrow, hopefully it will still be pretty. GetNSlim, kudos on the good Dr's appointment! Ketosis is a thing of the past for now! I made frosting for a cake...and well, you get the picture! Hi Surfdol! Heather, I can't believe Thanksgiving is coming up so quickly either. I made stock today, and organized my shopping list. I was going to do my big non perishable shopping today, but the blizzard...hopefully I can go tomorrow. Luckily, there isn't any sort of holiday rush here. Michelle, That's a real bummer about your work situation. I would persue every path I could if I were you. Smiley, good luck this month! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! When we were trying, I would visualize hubby's little sperm swimming into my egg Well, despite having no food in the house, I managed to spend all day cooking! I made turkey stock, frosting (if anyone needs akiller chocolate buttercream recipe, let me know, this is to die for!) for a cake for sunday night and tonights dinner I scraped together: spaghetti squash, and pesto and goat cheese stuffed chicken breasts. I also roasted the squash seeds and have been munching on those. Hubby is due home soon, but he'll be surprised with the foot! of snow in the driveway!!Bon Soir! |

I have some acne issues on my forehead that I never had before (maybe from rubbing it while worrying all of the time, ha-ha)....but that is it. I feel no different than before I got pregnant. I am showing some.....I cannot wear any old pants, and I have outgrown my underwear. As I have said before, as long as I am not in pain or bleeding, I'm going to try my best to avoid worrying. We see the baby again in a week in a half. I think once that happens, we will probably go ahead and start making lists/plans. Very surreal right now. Thanks for asking! We missed you!!

Dena & Chels.. for about 2-3 weeks, I had hardly any symptoms. Of course, I was busy traveling, so I didn't think about it as much.
Then, all of the sudden at week 16, I started feeling that pressure I talked about when I sneeze or cough. Now, with the arrival of week 18, my hips ache at night, and I feel the baby move after my lunch and dinner. For a couple days I wasn't sure, but now I am. My tummy has officially "popped" out, and it is so weird because it feels firm.. not like the fat I'm so used to feeling there! LOL... Martha, yeah, I'm skipping those blood tests. I'm not of an 'at-risk' age, and the stress of a false positive would be too much for me. And you said two magic words... chocolate AND buttercream in the same sentence can ONLY be a good thing. I'd love the recipe! |
